So, I've grown to like the Dhampir race. Flavor-wise they suit a lot of my character concepts, whether I want to do the stereotypical melodramatic vampire thing, or whether I want to do something entirely different and poke fun of that ridiculous(but fun) stereotype. My latest idea is for a Dhampir Barbarian, whose only reason for adventuring is because his girl's dead and he wants to bring her back(she died from Plot Disease, rendering her unable to just be 'raised' like any other dead person.). Truth be told, a lot of that I lifted from a Type O Negative song I really like.
Anyway, I'm lucky because there's an alternate Dhampir that gets a plus to strength instead of dex, but every single variation takes a hit to constitution. You know, they aren't supposed to exist, so they're kinda frail, typically. Obviously, being a Barbarian, this isn't ideal. I can work with it, but I'm looking for ways to toughen up this normally frail race. Feats, traits, anything to take a hit as well as any other hearty frontline combatant. I also want to make myself not dependent on healing, what with the whole negative energy mess.
Magic items are ok, but I want this guy to be formidable even if he's naked or something. Also, suggesting spells, while I'll find interesting, will only be helpful if I play in games with Casters in them.
So, yeah.

yeah man but come on
you are just basically taking a -2 to CON, it is not the end of the world
even on a 20 point buy with a svetocher you could still have with (rage)
STR: 16 (20)
DEX: 14
CON: 14 (18)
INT: 10
WIS: 10 (+2 Will save)
CHA: 12
or
STR: 17 (21) [+1 ability score at 4th level]
DEX: 14
CON: 14 (18)
INT: 10
WIS: 10 (+2 Will Save)
CHA: 10
If you want to compensate a bit, take the invunerable rager archetype to pick up some DR/- or just drop a feat into Toughness or Tribal Scars

I mean yeah, sure
You are taking a race with a -2 CON
but you are also taking a class with a D12 hit die that has an inherent mechanic built in to boost their CON during combat
I would not delve too far into compensating for that -2 CON, as you will most likely wind up paying for it in other areas, such as saves, combat excellence, etc.

Even with -2 to CON, you are putting +2 into stats that are less important. The +2 to CHA means you could dump it to strait rock bottom at 7 and still end up with a 9. That seems good enough to still give intimidation based builds a try.
And the +2 to Dex means you get a decent dex of 14 before the point buy starts ramping up. it takes 2 points to get a dex of 12 (which would turn into 14) while it cost 5 to get a strait 14. That is three points to put into con or str.
Hmmm. That is a good point. And I've always felt that, overall, the best defense is murder.
Now that is understanding core mechanics and the purpose of your class.
