Sorry guys, I got knocked on my ass by a major virus and I am just now getting back on my feet. It will probably be another 24-36 hours before I get back on posting. Sorry for the delay.

Male Human

So...Reign of Winter should be starting in the next three weeks or so, right at our doorstep! I wanted to go ahead and ask again which of the people in this game were wanting to play that adventure path so I could figure out if any extra recruiting needs to be done.

So...if any of you were wanting to play in the RoW game I'll run, please let me know. Thank you!

Male Human (Ulfen) Ranger (Freebooter) 3

I would be interested in playing Phillip

Male Human

Thanks Fjori! Has your Kingmaker game gotten off to a good start?

Male Human (Ulfen) Ranger (Freebooter) 3

not too bad actually..we might need another player..not too sure. The group is mostly good...with a few hiccups (they do not have a rogue at the moment!)

Warming up the pipes, Devon? Gonna treat us to a solo? Pirates are well known for being a sing-songy bunch, after all. ;)

So...as is, we're going to have a party of four: Wellard, Devon, Daniel, and Hector. At this point, Nirthuus is a "maybe." The classes that have been discussed are:

Wellard: Witch (Winter Witch)
Hector: Ranger (Shapeshifter)
Daniel: ?????
Devon: ?????

Devon, Daniel, did either of you have any thoughts on what you'd like to play? If you'd like to go ahead and start making your characters, I'd encourage it! You should be able to get everything done except for picking the campaign trait, unless you have Peoples of the North, in which case you can get a character completely ready.

We're going to start the game where the Player's Guide is going to have it starting: Helgren, a small village in southern Taldor. The nearest large city is Zimar. Character creation stuff is as follows:

Ability Scores: 20 pt. buy
Races: Let's stick with core races for this, since it's my first time GMing a PbP. However, you can use the APG and ARG for customizing your character with different racial traits/favored class bonuses/etc.
Classes/Archetypes: Classes and archetypes from CRB, APG, UM, and UC will be allowed.
Starting Wealth: Y'know, I'm a fan of options, so here let's say you can roll for it if you want to risk that, or you can go with class average.
Starting HP: Max for class.
Traits: Two traits, at least one of which must be a campaign trait (when the PDF is released. Please be soon! Please please please!)

I may try and recruit one or two more into the party from the board at large to tag along with us; haven't made my mind up yet. Sound good to y'all?

I'm thinking barbarian or fighter. I need to just straight up smash some skulls. Not sure if I will fiddle with a kit or not...any recommendations?

Male Human

Not sure if the idea appeals to you as much as it does to me, but the character I plan on submitting to other threads is a Mounted Fury Barbarian that will prestige into Mammoth Rider at level 10. There's a rage power tree that will eventually end in the mount raging when the Barbarian rages and getting Pounce at the same time. Not to mention the mental image of a raging Barbarian charging into battle atop an equally enraged charging mammoth or rhino or whatever-other-Huge beast you go with is just...awesome.

I'll be creating a campaign thread for us shortly. Probably when I get home from work. Is creating a campaign thread any different from a normal one? How do you link Recruitment to Discussion to Gameplay and so on? I would assume it's pretty intuitive.

Male Human (Ulfen) Ranger (Freebooter) 3

Not sure what to be...I might wait and see what everyone else is and then choose...perhaps a mage of some type...have not played one of those in awhile!

The Exchange

Male Human Desk Monkey 2/ Logistics Guru 3/ Over-educated 2/Gamer 6

Yeah they have tied it together pretty well at this point. I believe if you create a thread in any of the related PbP sub forums (PbP, PbP Discussiion or Recruitment) it will make the thread then give you access to the "Campiagn tabs" to be able to tie them together and what not.

ermf. will save is failing after seeing the bad-assness that the 2nd half of Reign of Winter holds....

must resist....

maybe Druid if there's a spot still? if not, no worries.

Male Human

Of course you're welcome, voodoo! The more the merrier!

And while I'm at it...

Male Human

So...got a request for my favorite PbP group.

I had a seizure for the first time in my life yesterday morning and have ultimately discovered that it was a result of two nodules and a lesion in my right brain. There was a lot of swelling and edema around the area and I'm currently in the hospital taking steroids to reduce the swelling. I have a biopsy scheduled Friday to determine if it is malignant before we decide what route to take with treatment.

If any of you are praying people, please send a message Heaven-ward for me, please.

That is rough news. I'm pulling for you. Get good rest and good luck on the results of your tests.

That's heavy news, Phil. You bet my thoughts are with you.

I hope all goes well for you Phil.. You will be in my thought!!

Jaunty Brigand Nair-do-well 1 / Upstart 3

Wow man that's really heavy. If I've got any good vibrations to send your way, consider them sent. As Devon said, good rest and godspeed.

how are you doing, Phillip?

Male Human

I've been home since Saturday, but today's been the first day since I went into the hospital last Tuesday that I've been at all back on my feet. I've been assured that everything at work is being dealt with as best as can be without my presence, but I'm hoping to soon be sending some work for my students to be getting done until I can bet back to work.

My preliminary pathology report is due back on Wednesday, but I won't know anything more about my condition until then. I had to go get some routine labs done today at a local doc. If my understanding is correct, the neurosurgeon is hoping to find increased calcium levels in my blood, because that may mean that the nodules and lesion in my brain are calcifying and that would mean they are significantly less likely to be cancerous. Here's hopin'!

Fingers crossed for you man

M Gnome Conjurer

i'll be out of contact most of this week. run me as needed. color spray max number of mooks and then slit throats.

Male Human

Medical status update for you guys: After consulting with an oncologist in Warner Robins, Georgia this morning, I have learned that I have either a grade 2 or grade 3 astrocytoma. It IS cancerous. It is NOT the really bad kind. The oncologist I spoke to told me I have already begun the process of scheduling an appointment at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas with a very experienced neurosurgeon there. I'll find out tomorrow morning when exactly my consultation appointment is but it's almost definitely going to be either next Tuesday or next Thursday and my surgery will likely follow within a couple days of that.

For at least a few days following the surgery, it's probably a safe assumption that I'll be incommunicado with everybody..which I hate, because I love you guys!

Thanks for the update Phil..I'll be thinking off you.

M Gnome Conjurer

i've got the AVA soft virus. I may be sparse until i get it fixed.

Allo! Awesome blow by Bart. Just google images of the game 'Godhand' to see a representation of what happens. :)

I've only just realized that I seem to have inadvertently created Brick from Borderlands, lol.

On that note, for all you fans of that series, I give you this if you haven't already heard about it.
Bunkers and Badasses

M Gnome Conjurer

Not that Quillin would mind walking the line with evil, but I don't know that killing off our malefactors is evil. They certainly weren't innocents, likely evil themselves. It might not be lawful or good to kill an unconscious foe, but hey, they would have likely done the same to us. In fact, several did try to ambush us in our bunks and probably would have killed us if they were allowed and able.

Male Human

Regarding the alignment thing, I don't really think the reasoning of "They'd have done the same to us" is necessarily the best argument to use...two wrongs don't make a right and all that. Also, if I may quote from the PRD: "A neutral evil villain does whatever she can get away with...she sheds no tears for those she kills, whether for profit, sport, or convenience."

Jaunty Brigand Nair-do-well 1 / Upstart 3

I would say that this one action, taken individually, is not evil in and of itself. However, the propensity to take that sort of action over the long term does trend in an evil direction.

Of course—and were Hassan conscious he'd say as much—it would have been a pretty simple matter to tie up the survivors, elect a new captain, run 'em through a nice quick trial, and hang 'em for being the murderous sea dogs they were. Nice and legal-like. ;-)

Mels problem with Quillin was that he seemed to be enjoying it just a little too much..

What kind of gnome would he be if I didn't do EVERYTHING with gusto?! ; )

Male Human

Medical Update: I'm at MD Anderson in Houston going through new patient stuff today. Very busy schedule until early afternoon meeting with different specialists and getting the actual surgery scheduled for tomorrow. I should be able to post again tonight, but after that I'm not sure when I'll be able to post again.

They're telling me to expect a local recover of 7-10 days, but it's really all gonna depend on me, so expect me to be incommunicado for around a week or so, beginning tomorrow. Sorry for having to do this to you guys! As soon as I'm able to, I'll let you all know what's going on. My wife has told me she'll sign on for me tomorrow after the surgery is over to let you know how it went.

The Exchange

Male Human Desk Monkey 2/ Logistics Guru 3/ Over-educated 2/Gamer 6

All I care about is the update, I can bot Ajani no worries...I promis not to do anything too risky to him. ;-)

For the alignment thing I agree with the general sentiment that it wasn't evil per se but like Wellard noted it was the gusto and speed the act was done. And I tend to view such things over time. If Quillin develops a habit of happily killing all of the unconscious prisoners it just reveals a certain quality of his nature on the cosmic scales. We'll see what happens :p

Male Human

Phillip is feeling fine... well, as fine as one can feel after an all-day brain operation. They think they removed over 95% percent of his tumor. We'll know for sure after he has a post-op MRI.

He's awake, talking, walking, about to get to eat something... Just letting everyone know he's okay like he asked me to do!

Jaunty Brigand Nair-do-well 1 / Upstart 3

Yay!

good news..thank you.
