Entycer |
Enycer nods to Ziphora, "You did but uh... well any meal is a good meal I suppose".
As Beachhead disappears again Entycer, almost, goes after his portion but refrains. She is content to eats what is hers though Beachhead did say it's all going to the same stomach so why should he object...
She continues to resist the urge to snatch what's left of his portion.
"So how long is the walk back to the humans?"
Tomorbataar |
Tomorbataar's eyes grow steadily wider as Ziphora and Beachhead fight, but he doesn't say anything. It's a few days, we'll be sleeping out in the open. Good thing we got a new bed, eh?
Tomorbataar doesn't like sharing.
GM_of_the_Heads |
Your belly full, it's not hard to fall asleep. After all, you've had a long day.
The next day is overcast, threatening rain, though it hasn't started to rain *yet*. Garblinx is up early, and most of you wake to see him watching you expectantly.
When all of you heads are up, he asks, "What do we do today, masters? Shall I and... Mo go back and work on your fortress?"
Grash "Warhead" Varazson |
Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 6
"Eh, there would nae be enough supplies to get started on that. It will take lots of wood and stone and bones and stuff, and we cannae all agree on what need tae be done yet. We can come back later. Besides, we need to see if we prevented that explodin' thing from going off."
Tomorbataar |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30
I should hope we can all agree that it needs to be cleaned. Especially the corpses, make sure you dispose of them thoroughly and cleanly, yes? Only munch on them if they're still fresh.
Tomorbataar looks around for Mo, Mo? Could you forage about for some food?
GM_of_the_Heads |
"Yes!" Mo seems quite happy at the suggestion that he *not* be involved in cleaning the fortress.
"I would be happy to clean, masters," Garblinx says.
Ziphora |
"Is our belly rounder then usual today?" Ziphora examines the stomach, then bends down and curiously puts her ear to it. "Do you think we're having a baby?"
No Mo! I need you along with us! To start our fires!" Ziphora exclaims. "Garblinx, you may return to prepare our fortress."
"You know, the next time I see Sir Tolgrith, we really should ask him for a condiments set."Ziphora suggests to the other heads.
Entycer |
"A baby? No, I don't think so, unless that's why I am always so hungry...
Agreed Tom, corpses in the home are not a solid design choice.
Explodin' thing? How much do you all get up to while I'm sleeping in anyway!?"
Tomorbataar |
Oh yes, there was an exploding thing, but I imploded it with my head so it was fine.
What fires is Mo going to start when we have no food left?
Grash "Warhead" Varazson |
"Aye, that there wizard had set up some explodin' magic thing on the human nest, and was being all right rude and arrogant about it too. Since the humans 'ave been reasonably nice, and owe us some work that would be rather hard tae do without their nest unexploded, and because tae wizard was such a cowardly snob about it, we went and squashed him for it and smashed the doohickey what was maintaining tae explodin' thing."
"Anyway, we can talk on tae road. It be a couple days walk back to tae humans, even with my marchin' stories. Hmm, I really need tae get a more permanent drum that tae ones what I summon. Maybe ask tae humans about that."
Ziphora |
"It was the fire-seed that the nasty wizard was going to use to blow up our human friends." Ziphora explains. "Ok Mo, first find us some food, then follow along while I give you culinary lessons."
GM_of_the_Heads |
Garblinx bows and heads back towards the fortress, while Mo goes off foraging. He comes back a while later with a small doe, enough to keep you going for a while, though not particularly filling.
Is anything really stupid today?: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Nothing bothers you as you set out, except for the fact that your stomach starts growling again before noon. Funny... you didn't used to get hungry that fast...
Ziphora |
Ziphora tries to look for food.
survival: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Heh, does anyone want yams and potatoes for lunch or would the GM rather post the results of my survival check :p
Tomorbataar |
Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 Assuming we can't both hunt separately since we're at most 30' away, this is aid another for the natural 20 she just rolled.
Tomorbataar eyes Ziphora's results, looking around for even more food she might have missed. How about those berries? Watch out for the juice, it's staining.
GM_of_the_Heads |
While you don't catch any meat, you do find a number of root vegetables, berries, and other plants that are good to eat. Mo watches, looking a bit hungry himself, but of course he doesn't dare say anything.
Ziphora |
Ziphora gladly shares her findings with Mo, after shamelessly promoting the health benefits of eating greens and going vegetarian. She sets Mo cook the root vegetables in glowing embers.
"Remind me to ask Sir Tolgrith for a pot."
Entycer |
Entycer eats her berries as she imagines what Mo tastes like, it helps with the lack of meat in the meal.
Entycer too shares a portion of her berries with Mo and takes a good whiff of him, just you know, to make sure he's healthy.
GM_of_the_Heads |
The journey back to the fort is uneventful, save for the occasional complaints from your stomach about how all of the prey seems to have cleared out in your wake. Between foraging and ordering Mo around, though, you're not really in bad shape at all.
Finally the walls of the human nest come into view, but before you even get into shouting distance of the walls, a dry voice cries out from behind you, "Great ones!"
The source of the voice turns out to be one of the lizardfolk, who runs closer and shouts, "It is good I found you!"
Ziphora |
"Nicely done, Mo."Ziphora praises Mo, in gratitude for his help.
Ziphora is taken aback by their welcome. 'It seems to have a ring of desperation to it'"Ahhh.." She stammers out, for once lost for words. "Is it fire, flood water pollution or the apocalypse?"
Tomorbataar |
You were going to ask Torlgrith about some pot, Tomorbataar reminds Ziphora as they approach.
I'd like to elaborate on Ziphora's question: what exactly brings you here? And what's the food situation?
GM_of_the_Heads |
"It is terrible, terrible!" the lizard-person, who you're pretty sure is female, wails. "The other tribe in the swamp attacked us! They killed some of our hunters, and captured others!"
Tomorbataar |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Hmm...other tribe in the swamp? Were they anywhere near so powerful as beings like ourselves, whose very steps make the earth shake?
Also, where's Torlgrith?
GM_of_the_Heads |
Looking over at the fort, Tomorbataar thinks he can see Sir Torlgrith standing on the wall watching you. At least, it's probably him. It's definitely a human, but you're still far enough from the fort it's kind of hard to be sure. Most humans look alike, anyway.
The lizardfolk drops her voice somewhat. "They are not... but they had with them terrible beasts! They swam through the water and gobbled up our warriors!"
She shudders, then continues, "We will give you whatever you ask that we can, just please, come save us! The other tribe lives in the southern part of the swamp, where the mountains draw close."
You never really went to that part of the swamp before. At least, not that you remember.
Tomorbataar |
Hmm... Tomorbataar considers for a moment.
After we're done questioning them about the southern tribe.
Well, I for one have no interest in moving towards the swamp again. It wasn't so bad when we were just visiting friendly lizardfolk, but if we've got to fight beasts which swim through the muddy water...well...that sounds not idea.
Perhaps the humans could spare some warriors? They aren't great fighters, it's a well known fact, but they do have metal skins and there are many more behind them. I'd prefer to send our allies instead, let them take care of the dirty work.
Beachhead |
"Now that Hungry's not around to be hungry for us, anymore, I've noticed that we're a lot more hungry. Big, giant beasts to eat sounds pretty good right now, actually.
"Let's make sure the fire seed is gone, see if Sir Tolgrith has our rewards ready and maybe confirmation or our noble titles, and then see about dominating this other lizardfolk tribe."
GM_of_the_Heads |
"They have long lived to the south, and they hate us," the lizardfolk woman says in answer to Ziphora. "They have fought against us before, but they were weaker. Now they have this great beast and we fall before them! The humans would not be able to fight them, for they cannot fight and swim. Please, we will perish if you do not help!"
Your stomach growls a bit, as if in agreement with Beachhead's statement. Or maybe it's just because the scent of roasting meat is drifting over from the fort.
Grash "Warhead" Varazson |
"This great beast sounds like it would put up a great fight! I say we go, though maybe let tae humans know first in case they be worryin' about us."
Grash then gives Tomorbataar a look. "Ye be afraid of tae swamp? What kind of attitude be that? Our kind be the lords of the swamp! Big, powerful, rivaled only by them nasty black dragons! What be a little mud to scare us?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22
Tomorbataar |
We'll say that Tomorbataar is on friendly relations with Grash. They're siblings, but only a little, and Tomorbataar looks down on you. That's a base DC of 10. I'd say that wandering around in a swamp is "dangerous aid" based on Tomorbataar's moral philosophies, resulting in a DC of 20.
You were targeting me with that diplomacy, right?
I'm not afraid of the swamp, I just don't like it. Tomorbataar stops and thinks for a bit, Hmm...I suppose we are meant to be lords of the swamp. Fine. But first we get our reward, and some food.
GM_of_the_Heads |
The lizardfolk follows as you turn towards the human fort. "There is not one, but five! They swim under the water, then jump up and eat our warriors in one gulp before disappearing back into the water!"
Ziphora |
"Urm can we swim..?" Ziphora asks the rest.
Then secretly, hoping Tomorbataar can't hear, she whispers to the rest, "If the water's muddy, I don't want to hear what Tom's going be doing about it...
Ziphora |
"Preparing for what?" Ziphora asks Sir Tolgrith. "Sorry, I was a little distracted." Ziphora apologizes. "Someone has been bullying our lizard folk friends and I'm highly inclined to go teach them a lesson!"
Ziphora |
"Oh food is always a good thing - hey, do you have a spare pot we could grab? Also, condiments. I'd like Basil, Oregano, Rosemary, Sage and Thyme and if possible, get some of the latest imports from Goka - Star Anise, Cloves, Cinnamon bark, Pepper, Fennel Seeds." Ziphora rattles off."And a mortar and pestle."
I guess the scary thing is I more or less managed to blabber out all that without any aid from Wiki - except for the Fennel Seeds part...guess who spends quite some time in the kitchen in RL? ;)
Grash "Warhead" Varazson |
"Aye, a victory feast! Always good tae have a proper fest after defeatin' a powerful foe! Mayhap I shall do some drummin' too, tae set the mood. And then it sound like it shall be on tae the next battle!"
Tomorbataar |
Well, there presumably shall be some sort of dandying up before we go off to greet the other lizardfolk. After all, it's not guaranteed that we'll have to fight them, and there's no reason not to be dressed up.
A return about our request to have titles, or about the metal armor? Tomorbataar suddenly gets excited, Or both?
And the tablet side hooks post, which was quite a while ago.
