Ziphora |

Ziphora touches the body with a jolt of electricity, making everyone move faster.
Celerity for Haste, 10 rounds, everyone. One burn.
Rounds per level stuff I rather do in combat.
Also Beachhead if you wanna full attack, you should delay rather then ready, ready is standard action only

Grash "Warhead" Varazson |

Fortitute: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Grash takes the hammer-smack in stride.
"Hah! Excellent! Fight! GRAAAARRRR!!"
His drumming accelerates, and somehow layers multiple beats overtop one anouther.
Casting Virtuoso Performance. Now maintaining both Raging Song and Dirge of Doom. Fury for allies, Fear for enemies!
Oh, and almost forgot; Grash votes TRAMPLE SMASH!

Ziphora |

Ziphora sighs, knowing her crazy brothers tendencies, and trample smashing is probably the way its gonna go. She agrees to trample smash, since she doesn't want to spoil their fun. Hey sibs count for something, right?

GM_of_the_Heads |

The minotaur charges forward and takes a swing at Ziphora.
Axe: 1d20 ⇒ 13 Pretty sure that's going to hit, but I don't have the character sheet with me at the moment--I'll let you know when I get home.
Your dumb heads snap at the targets near them.
Bite v Dragon: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31
Bite v Dragon: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31
Bite v Goblin: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
Bite v Minotaur: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
Damage: 2d8 + 20 ⇒ (6, 5) + 20 = 31
Then you suddenly surge forwards, sending those in front of you tumbling out of the way.
Reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 4
And the rest of this post will have to wait until I get home.

GM_of_the_Heads |

Damage to Ziphora from the Minotaur who actually has a greatsword not an axe: 3d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 5, 3) + 10 = 19
Damage to hobgoblin and goblin: 2d6 + 15 ⇒ (1, 5) + 15 = 21
The dragon, amazingly enough, evades you as you surge forwards, but the hobgoblin and the goblin do not.
Beachhead is up.

Beachhead |

Switching to a more surpriseable opponent, Beachhead lashes out at General Gordru, ducking and weaving to confuse her as he attacks.
Stealth to activate Two Places at once ability: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (16) + 24 = 40
"Raising an army is pretty impressive! You should feel proud of what you accomplished! Good job!"
Mostly for my own benefit, I see Beachhead's attack bonuses like this: BAB +16, invisible +2, flanking +2, haste +1
Attack: 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 38
Damage + SA: 2d6 + 2 + 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 6) + 2 + (3, 6, 6, 1, 6) + 1 = 37
Iterative Attack: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 11 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 24
Damage + SA: 2d6 + 2 + 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 4) + 2 + (5, 1, 3, 5, 2) + 1 = 24
Hasted Attack: 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 30
Damage + SA: 2d6 + 2 + 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 2) + 2 + (5, 5, 5, 2, 2) + 1 = 28
Spending 1 ki point for an extra attack.
Extra Attack: 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 31
Damage + SA: 2d6 + 2 + 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 4) + 2 + (6, 6, 1, 1, 2) + 1 = 24
If any of those attacks hit, the General is sickened, suffers -5 to natural armor, and takes 5 points of bleed damage per round.
Beachhead votes for a tail swipe at the metal hobgoblin.

Ziphora |

Ziphora manifests an empowered lightning horn then stabs the general with it. Thrice.
Lightning horn: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32
dmg: 5d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 6, 2) + 2 = 20
Lightning horn: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
dmg: 5d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 4, 4) + 2 = 26
Lightning horn: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
dmg: 5d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 1, 5) + 2 = 19
Hitting touch AC

GM_of_the_Heads |

Beachhead tears viciously into the hobgoblin general, but she's a tough one--she refuses to go down.
"Focus on the body, not the heads!" she orders.
Gordru hammer: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29
Gordru hammer: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Gordru hammer: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Damage: 2d12 + 48 ⇒ (3, 1) + 48 = 52
Minotaur Sword: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (6) + 16 = 22
Minotaur Sword: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Minotaur Sword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Goblin dagger: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36
Goblin dagger: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
Minotaur crit confirm: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Goblin crit confimr: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28
Minotaur damage: 6d6 + 42 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 1, 6, 3) + 42 = 58
Goblin damage: 3d3 + 24 ⇒ (1, 2, 3) + 24 = 30
They inflict grievous wounds on your hindquarters, but they swiftly start healing.
The other two are up!

GM_of_the_Heads |

Whoops, I must have had this open on a tab before you posted. :D Just need Grash, then.

Grash "Warhead" Varazson |

"GRRRFFRRMMGGGLOLRRRR!!!"
Whatever Grash was trying to say is muted by his attempts to pound the hobgoblin on the head with his drum, while somehow still maintaining two different musical performances.
DRUM!: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
Drummage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
HASTY DRUM!: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24
Drummage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Drum: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Drummage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Grash votes SUPLEX! Or, failing that, BODY SLAM!

GM_of_the_Heads |

With the third stab of her horn, Ziphora downs the hobgoblin general. The minotaur snarls in rage and attacks her in vengeance.
Sword: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29
Sword: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Sword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Gore: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Damage: 3d6 + 21 ⇒ (1, 4, 3) + 21 = 29
His rage makes his strikes inaccurate, however, and only one hits.
Grash beats on the goblin a little, his target having gone missing.
Your dumb heads spread their attacks around.
Bite v. Dragon: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27
Bite v. Dragon: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (8) + 15 = 23
Bite v. Minotaur: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22
Bite v. Minotaur: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
Damage v. Dragon: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Damage v. Minotaur: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
You body hesitates a moment, then floats slightly up in the air, whirls about, and flies at the dragon with forelimbs extended.
...suplex?: 1d20 ⇒ 6+???
The dragon avoids your awkward attempts at... whatever that was, though.
Beachhead is up!

Beachhead |

"We just killed a bunch of minotaurs! Ugh! Fiiiiiiine."
Beachhead kills another stupid minotaur.
Stealth to activate Two Places at once ability: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (8) + 24 = 32
Attack: 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 41
Damage + SA: 2d6 + 2 + 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 1) + 2 + (1, 2, 4, 4, 6) + 1 = 27
Iterative Attack: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 11 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 36
Damage + SA: 2d6 + 2 + 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 2 + (3, 6, 2, 1, 3) + 1 = 23
Hasted Attack: 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 33
Damage + SA: 2d6 + 2 + 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 5) + 2 + (4, 4, 3, 6, 5) + 1 = 31
Spending 1 ki point for an extra attack.
Extra Attack: 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 36
Damage + SA: 2d6 + 2 + 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 6) + 2 + (3, 3, 5, 5, 4) + 1 = 30
Beachhead votes for the body to fart out noxious fumes.

GM_of_the_Heads |

Beachhead tears ferociously into the minotaur, causing many grievous wounds, but not killing him.
The dragon sees an opportunity and flies to one side, then breathes a line of acid that hits all of your heads except Beachhead.
Damage: 10d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 2, 2, 6, 3, 6, 1, 6, 3) = 39 Reflex DC 21 for half
This kills one of your dumb heads. The goblin goes for another of them.
Dagger: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (3) + 17 = 20
Dagger: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Damage: 2d3 + 16 ⇒ (1, 2) + 16 = 19
He does enough to kill another of your dumb heads.
The other two are up--I realized I messed up turn order a bit last turn.

Ziphora |

ref: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Ziphora manages to partially dodge part of the dragon's breath, but is still burnt by the acid and collapses on the ground.
quick regrowth: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Grash "Warhead" Varazson |

Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Grash narrowly dodges the worst of the acid. Still thumping his drum, he lunges for the goblin, an inarticulate roar emerging before he tries to bite savagely.
Bite: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (8) + 15 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Bite: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Savage Jaw Grapple: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18 If any of them hit
Grash also votes BACKFLIP + BODY SLAM! While being slightly saddened that SUPLEX! didn't work.

Beachhead |

The army leaders went, then I went, and then you went again, ending that post saying "the other two" are up, and you mentioned that the posting order was messed up, so I assumed that you meant Zip and Grash since I had just gone previously.
Surprised that these creatures didn't give up when he slew their general, Beachhead unleashes his full compliment of attacks. Attacking the minotaur, unless it's dead, then the dragon and then the goblin.
Stealth to activate Two Places at once ability: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (17) + 24 = 41
Attack: 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 34
Damage + SA: 2d6 + 2 + 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 2) + 2 + (3, 4, 3, 3, 3) + 1 = 26
Iterative Attack: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 11 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 25
Damage + SA: 2d6 + 2 + 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 2) + 2 + (3, 3, 2, 4, 2) + 1 = 24
Hasted Attack: 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 29
Damage + SA: 2d6 + 2 + 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 6) + 2 + (4, 1, 4, 4, 4) + 1 = 32
Spending 1 ki point for an extra attack.
Extra Attack: 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 16 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 25
Damage + SA: 2d6 + 2 + 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 1) + 2 + (6, 3, 1, 1, 3) + 1 = 22

GM_of_the_Heads |

Okay, apparently I'm very confused about the turn order. XD Looking back... okay, I see my confusion. It should have been Grash and Ziphora, but Ziphora's out for the time being, so I confused myself thinking two people had to go. So I'll just use that for your next action.
Grash completely misses the goblin. The minotaur goes for Grash.
Sword: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20
Sword: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Sword: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
He *also* completely misses. Your two remaining dumb heads focus their attacks on him.
Bite: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
Bite: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31
Damage: 2d8 + 20 ⇒ (7, 3) + 20 = 30
They finish him off, and he goes crashing to the ground.
Your body, confused by the two impossible commands, stands and does nothing.
With two of his three big distractions gone, the goblin decides that its chances of avenging the general are pretty low. He steps back and vanishes from sight.
The dragon, subsequently, decides it doesn't want to be the sole focus of your attacks and takes off.
Battle over unless you two feel like trying to give chase.

Beachhead |

Okay, apparently I'm very confused about the turn order. XD
Better you than me!
I'm all for giving chase and getting some dragonscale barding, but I don't think we have means to fly. And if we did, would we be able to catch up with the dragon with our wing speed? Especially if we wait for Zip to regenerate?
Beachhead lets out a mighty roar in triumph.

GM_of_the_Heads |

There's actually several hobgoblins waiting as you turn towards the army. It seems like they were watching. They... punch themselves in the chest as you walk towards them.
"General," one of them says to you. "What is your command?"

Beachhead |

Earlier, while walking over to the army:
Beachhead addresses Zip and Grash.
"So, you guys agree that keeping this army here is a terrible idea, right? Humans are way racist.
"I'm thinking we need to take this army, maybe some of our lizardsouls, and go conquer something. It has something for all of us: Grash gets to have a constant war hard-on, I'll like that we get better hunters and sources of food than what Sir Tolgrith's lackadaisical efforts are managing, and Zip is going to appreciate that we are ensuring that these two armies stop fighting each other.
"We can even conquer in the queen's name, if we want."

Ziphora |

Ziphora pushes herself out of the body, none too worse for wear. "Actually," Ziphora corrects Beachhead, "Even we have an army, we shouldn't be using it to conquer others. And besides armies are made of individual people, who have life and aspirations. Maybe its better to ask them what they would do if they were not at war? We could declare the war over, and everyone gets to go home safe to their families..."

GM_of_the_Heads |

"Under three thousand warriors, with a few beasts left and about six thousand elders, children, and other non-combatants," the hobgoblin replies. "We're retreating from the war in Molthune and Nirmathas."

Ziphora |

"I think everyone should go back to their friends and families!" Ziphora announces cheerfully. "Make peace, not war!"
Then a thought occurs to her, "Do you and your families have a place to stay?" She asks the hobgoblins.

GM_of_the_Heads |

"No. That was the idea of trying to take the Vale."

Grash "Warhead" Varazson |

Grash thinks of something.
"Why dinnae ye have homes? I be guessin' ye did, and then somethin' happened. Of course, this vale does seem ter get attacked a fair bit, so havin' an army around would be useful... so long as ye can get yer own food somewhow."

GM_of_the_Heads |

"We lost the war." The hobgoblin seems to prefer short, direct statements to long explanations.
Ziphora can't think of any good places nearby off the top of her head. It's possible somewhere in Varisia would work--it was mostly unclaimed by humanoid nations--they'd just have to deal with the giant tribes and other dangers, first. Oh, and travel through lands claimed by Korvosa, which might not approve of an army of hobgoblins.
They're apparently already running away from Nirmathas, which rules that out. Nidal is right out of it. There *might* be some other valleys and such here in the mountains that could work... honestly, Bloodsworn Vale is about their best bet for hundreds of miles. Though it does seem a bit small for a population of thousands, it's at least defensible.

Ziphora |

"Hmm, how about you become our tenants?" Ziphora suggests. "You rear goats in the mountains, cattle in the valley, then pass us a couple every week or so and in exchange you can live in those mountains and valleys."
"I can't have people going around like rootless vagabonds, you know."

GM_of_the_Heads |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |

The hobgoblin army settles into the vale--somewhat to Sir Torlgrith and the lizardfolk's dismay, but with you around to, ahem, 'mediate' any disputes, everyone reluctantly agrees to it.
And thus ends our tale, with the Great Hydra triumphant over all their foes, Lords and Lady of the Hydra's Vale. Whether in days to come they used their new army to spread their dominion, or whether their valley became a place of unusual piece between species, this tale does not tell. But it is for this reason that what was once called Bloodsworn Vale is known even now as Hydra's Vale. The rest... can wait for another telling.
Thanks everyone! I'll be setting this campaign to inactive shortly.
