"The Campaign with not name"
Re-post
If you would like to make the hulk kind of thing try this
Race half Giant +
2 Levels Summoner Synthesist (starting with a Large linked Eidolon)
+
4 Levels Psion Egoist 3 with Metamorphosis +
Table 1 = Increase your size by two size categories (+4 size bonus to Strength, -4 size penalty to Dexterity, appropriate size modifiers to AC, CMB, attack rolls, etc). This effect does not stack with other effects that increase your size.
(but as your Eidolon starts Large you get to Gargantuan with out braking this rule)
That's makes you 64 foot high or wide a slam attack and your 120 tons, + second metamorphosis table select
Abilities Menu B
You gain two natural slam/bite/claw attacks that deal 1d8 damage if Medium (1d10 if Large).
You gain Fast Healing 2.
You gain a +3 natural armor bonus.
You gain 20 temporary hit points.
You gain the Improved Critical feat with any natural attacks you have.
You gain damage reduction 5/magic.
You gain a fly speed of 20 feet (poor).
You gain a poison attack. When you hit with a natural melee attack, the target must make a Fortitude save (DC10 + ½ your manifester level + your key ability modifier) or take 1 point of Constitution damage.
You can spit poison as a ranged touch attack (30 feet) as a standard action. If it hits, it deals 3d6 acid damage and the target must make a Fortitude save (DC10 + ½ your manifester level + your key ability score modifier) or take 1 point of Constitution damage.
You gain a swim speed of 40 feet.
You gain a climb speed of 40 feet.
You gain a burrow speed of 30 feet.
You gain 3 choices from Abilities Menu A from minor metamorphosis. You may not choose the same option twice.
add to that the rest of your Eidolon evaluations.
say +2AC making +4NA AC
Bit rude that.
Bryce Brinner |
Here.
Sama, I'll take a look at that option. My initial thought is that it's not quite as "simple" as my current setup. It seems that i'd be losing straight damage output and hp... which are two of the things i'm after. I'd have much more flexibility, but I'm not sure out team is hurting for flexibility.
Bryce Brinner |
No rush here. I'm interested in seeing where things go.
** spoiler omitted **
Hey, Castiel, I meant to respond to this, but forgot. sorry.
I think that's cool a cool tie-in, with a few tweaks. Bryce is -- at best -- a rudimentary alchemist. He's a bit of a junky, and his interest in alchemy pretty much starts and stops with his interest in all things that induce adrenaline or that fuel his adrenaline-junky lifestyle.
So, yah, the two of them very well might have met at a laboratory. Bryce probably wouldn't' have been a "colleague", though. More likely the type of person who hired himself out to the guys at the lab in one of two capacities -- as a test subject for pay or as someone who can acquire ingredients (especially those that are dangerous to acquire).
Got any thoughts on that?
Castiel Lashilsh |
Here.
Bryce: That sounds about right. I am sure that as a leader in all things mecha-magic. I'd have any number of uses for you, likely I would have been a volunteer subject at first as well, but I eventually made my way to the other side of the test chamber, so to speak.
Mr. S: Can you give us an idea for an initial location or event so that we can fumble our ways to the same place at the same time?
Castiel Lashilsh |
Mr. Swagger |
I am running Carrion Hill. It is for 5th level characters, so I will probably have to improve some monsters, but that is ok.
Whether you live here or you are here for other reasons there is a call for adventures.
Reasons to be here:
Resident.
Pathfinder Society Member
A member of an engineer or mason's guild.
I could include an alchemy based organization also.
There is also a church of Pharasma here.
You could be looking for middlestone
Middlestone is similar to wood, but it is easier to work with. It is also more resistant to fire, and rot. The downside is that it does not hold up against weather as well, and needs to be replaced at times.
It is made from a specific cockroach that is combined with powdered brick, gravel, and bones.
If your character would need a specific reason to accept an adventure let me know, and I will try to work it into the story.
Bryce Brinner |
Stuff
Yadda yadda
yackity schmackity
religious mumbo jumbo

Sold.
So some guy at some alchemical facility or university hired Bryce (and maybe Castiel) to find him a load of Middlestone.
Alternately, (and i like this more, actually) Bryce (and maybe Castiel) know that Middlestone is a commodity at said alchemy facility/university and has come to Carrion Hill to find some to sell back to them. This one is a bit more entrepreneurial, and frees us me up from having some off-screen contract.
All that being said, there are any number of reasons Bryce would and cold have found his way to whatever city holds the alchemy university or academy at which they both learned a thing or two. I figure they ran afoul of each other in town, had a few dust-ups, nothing too serious. But also ran afoul of some other local gang or something… basically forcing them to gang up to stay alive (unless they wanted to go to the cops or leave town.. not an option). So they were able to pool their talents, whoop some butt, and came out the other side the kind of friends you only make in tight spots.
And all this could have been happening in and around the alchemy academy where they both work as "guys who can get stuff" as well as time-to-time testers for prototype concoctions.
I realize this is a lot more toned down than your version but it's more the style of character I like to play. Especially since we're level 5 characters (and i'm assuming that's a recent thing). I don't see level 1 - 3 characters running unchecked through a town destroying everything in sight and basically becoming impromptu kingpins.
I'm open to other thoughts, though.
Other facts: Since this is in Ustalav, I'm gonna say Bryce is a half-blood from northern Varisia. He's a bit of an adrenaline junky. Well, he's a bit of a junky in general. Alcohol, food, drugs… it's all good. If it gives him a buzz, high, or general good time, he's probably up for it. He's got some exposure to alchemy (which is why he can brew mutagens and a handful of potions, but he doesn't' really even have a basic understanding of the science -- hence no ranks in Craft: Alchemy), but really isn't an alchemist. He's more of a drifter and adventurer, with a dash of mercenary thrown in.
Which puts Bryce recently in town, hoping to score some information on where the more dangerous locations to find Middlestone are. Places where he's unlikely to have to pay any taxes for the taking, and he might get to flex some muscle and have some fun along the way.
You have any thoughts on this Swagger?
Mr. Swagger |
I spelled it wrong. It is Middenstone.
Middenstone is actually a manufactured product, and there is only one producer of it in town.
The background works for me though.
I think I have checked everyone's character already. As soon as everyone posts here so I know that I have not lost anyone I will try to get things moving.
The Lady Dizit Sama |
With Lady Sama its simple I think, she is a made being, made by the Elan High council and works as an Agent for it, if they say go to a place called Carrion Hill and help one Bryce Brinner (agent of an alchemy organization) in the procurement of the processes for making Middenstone.
There must be some thing in it for the council, what that may be she has no idea and dos not really care, this is her job, her life, she gos.
So she will be in town looking for him with a latter from the same alchemy organization saying shes there to aid him if she can.
No word will be in it of the Elan High council of course, such a things as Mind Mages after all are just a child story's, a rumors, hearsay and not real at all.
Castiel Lashilsh |
Bryce: Sounds good. What do you think of the following:
Castiel would have been looking into the middenstone as well. He is here, along with Bryce, to procure as much of it as possible, as cheaply as possible. He may hold on to a good portion of the material for his own experiments. At the same time, anything that can make him a profit and fund his research further is a good thing. The two of them have been made allies of circumstance when they ran amuck of a crime syndicate near where they used to live. They were forced to work together to get the mafia off of their backs, and ever since they've been reasonably amicable towards each other. Of course, Castiel is a shut in to begin with and his elven heritage gives him an air of condescension to the half-brute. Nonetheless, they seem to make a good pair when the times get rough.
Jelani |
Argh. I've run Carrion Hill before. Not sure I want to dedicate a bunch of time playing something I already know really well. It would be extremely difficult for me to not meta-game and the plot is spoiled for me.
Jelani |
I ran you through Carrion Crown Dizit :P
I've run a bunch of PFS, Carrion Crown and I'm currently playing in a Kingmaker game.
You could try City of Golden Death. Or, if you want a Lovecraft feel From Shore to Sea. Haven't done either of those and they are the right level.
Sorry to be a pain... x_x'
Bryce Brinner |
@ Castiel: Cool. That works for me. They can definitely already be bros. I was just toning down Bryce's side of the shared backstory a bit.

Lol. I think if an attractive woman showed up looking for Bryce by name, he'd immediately suspect a set-up. :D
EDIT: Though I suspect that's where her telepathy might come into play. ;p

Arr but she would have that nice letter, if your using another name then that will be the one shes looking for and on the letter, If your and agent of some guys who want secret mud-bricks why would you think they do not have others :)
The Lady Dizit Sama |
City of Golden death, Im getting that Maya feeling, but sounds fun and a city, could mean a nice Hotel for a change.
You saying a Big hunk of ruff like Mr Brinner dos not find girls flocking to his manly looks. hehe.
You have not seen Sama do her change thing, it can be just as ugly
Mr. Swagger |
I will run Shore to Sea. I think it will be interesting.
IIRC nobody is of a good alignment other than Leon Hardin. The rest of you are neutral. <---That may be incorrect.
The story as written assumes a certain measure of altruism. In order to realistically entice those who have more loot oriented characters you have been given the opportunity to speak to a noble's nephew. He claims his bride was kidnapped when he went to visit her. That is all the noble knows. If you accept the offer you will get to speak to the noble's nephew.
If you prefer another hook then let me know.
The village you will end up at is not that friendly to outsiders, and there will not be any opportunities to purchase anything, but the most mundane items.
I will start the game later today, most likely in the afternoon.
Castiel Lashilsh |
Sounds fine by me. If the land is even remotely exotic, Castiel would have no trouble travelling their in search of new ideas and technologies. As far as altruism: He runs under the assumption that is it better to do good things and have people indebted to you, or to do good things and set the kharmic wheel on your side. He's altruistic because he's selfish. This, in my opinion, is what it is like to plan High INT, low WIS/CHA
Rasso |
"Altruism?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAahahaa. Ye've got the wrong merman. If ye want me to fight for ye, ye've got to give me some booty. I'll speak with yer son, mayhaps he can pay me price."
The Lady Dizit Sama |
She its in front of the councils respective, she has know him for years yet only knows him as "voice" they sit in a small coffee's shop over looking the sea, a fine lady and a well dressed man, they make small talk about the pasty's with their mouths wile there minds talk to each other.
"They say the ginger snaps are wonderful here"
The council was very please with the results from your last mission Agent 19. So well done.
"yes also Mr cooler said the Cream cones where very nice"
high praise indeed, so whats the bad new voice?"
"O my dear we shall try them both"
The smart dressed man waves his hand and orders both for them,
some lady's nearby smile at the young couple.
you're so cynical my dear, but yes you will not have time for a brake, the bad news is. It has come to our knowledge that the bride of a young noble here about's has gone missing, and we would like to help them.
The cakes came.
"thank you so much and could we have more Coffee if you please"
and I take it I will be that help?
He takes a bite, spilling cream down his fine shirt wiping it off he.
"Silly me Ill have to go change"
You will not be alone, the family his gathering a group of paid adventures to find her and I would think seek revenge for the family.
I have placed all relevant information in the letter I will leave behind when I go. Your task it to be seen to help and in fact help if you can.
goodbye Agent 19
With that he stands
"Im sorry my dear I really must change, I will see you back at the Inn later, O this is the letter form your sister that came today, I will see you later sweet hart"
He bows to her, kissing her on the cheek and takes his leave. She reaches over and picks up the letter, reading it slowly.
Well well well I do get a sea side Holiday after all, I best go and pack by swimwear.
She pays and gos,
A group of paid adventures a? sounds fun
The Lady Dizit Sama |
Gm I just wanted to say some thing about Sama and mind reading, for the sake of good game play yes she CAN just try and ready any ones mind she meets, but that's dull, it would nurf the game and just where is the fun in that,
So I'm going to play her like this, The group of Elan who made her belive in a thing called "mindrape" that is reading a mind when not specifically agreed on by both parties. It is the most hideous of crimes in her race, yes she my turn a mind to mush as a killing act filling it with images, but never enter a mind and take form a mind unless agreed on.
This I find is a way to temper down, a power which would take all the fun out of finding things out in a game like, this. So from the get go she will not be snooping around NPCs heads to cheat the party to its next goal. I do hope you see my view on this and I think GM its a better way to play her. Harder yes but more fun.
Watcher Uatu |
I am reading as I am going. I do know you won't be swimming the entire time.
If Dizit has a psionic version of detect thoughts then it only reads surface thoughts, and the intrusion would be noted. I do understand that the target might not know where the intrusion is coming from.
Which power is this by the way? I do not see it.

Is the town we're in even on the water? How far away are we from the town where the wedding rock is? Or are we already in the town near the wedding rock? How big is the town we're in? What's its name?
