That depends on what actions you take. If you and Sandara do nothing but move, you'll be there in three rounds. Likewise, with Eleu and Fishguts do the same, they'll be there next round. However, Sandara's got at least one spell she's likely to cast before she reaches the deck, so she might be "half an action" or so behind (only able to take a move when she reaches the deck, for instance). So it's kind of up to you.

OK, it's taken me this long to look at the map enough to think I have it figured out.. It's very well done, Shisumo.
Starting out, we have
Q4 Mister Plugg, Foe (who has moved to P4 per narrative)
M6 Mister Scourge, Foe
N6 Rosie Cusswell, Friend
I3 Conchobhar Shortstone, Friend
M2 Crimson Cogward, Friend
R5 Owlbear Hartshorn, Friend

Hope my little flashback (flash forward?) doesn't throw anything off. Feel free to ignore it if it does, or chalk it up to a hallucination due to loss of blood.

A balladeer and a seer and a pistoleer! A man of many faces!
Enjoy your vacation - you're not going anywhere where they are forecasting rain, are you? ;-)
Oh, and from the IC thread, you were planning to be the new captain, weren't you? Back when you were creating the character, it seemed like that was the tack you were taking.
| Artevious de Poisson |
That's true... I have a couple class abilities that sort of call for my being the captain. But if IC it works out to not be the case, I understand.

Guys, I'm going to have to beg your indulgence for a short while. I've had several very long work days (12+ hours) in a row, and this afternoon just as I was sitting down to update my PbPs my father called to tell me my mother is in the hospital. I'm not likely to worth anything for a day or two. Please bear with me.

If my calculations are correct, the XP from the two chokers should put even the furthest-behind of you at 5040 XP. As we are on the Medium track, that makes you all level 3.
I think I've gone over this with some of you guys before, but regardless, here's how I handle leveling "in-mission:" you get your hit points, skill points, feats and spell slots immediately. New spells known apply as well, for those of you who have such. Daily uses of abilities and so on apply, but you don't get to "refresh" any uses you've already gone through. If you prepare spells, you need to wait until your next preparation to put any spells into those slots, but the slots are still available for spontaneous casting if that's an option for you, as though you'd left those slots "open" during your daily preparation.
So go! Have fun! Get kewl powerz!

Huzzah!
I've taken Precise Shot for my feat, since I get rapid reload for free next level.
Also picked up the Climb skill, likely after it's usefulness has passed. Oh, well.

Actually, Shisumo, I need to ask you something before I settle on my feat. What is your interpretation of the Deadly Aim feat when involving firearms?
It looks like the bonus damage from the feat is not added at all, but it seems as though one should be able to get the damage if the attack is not resolved as a touch attack (if doing so is an option; I'm not sure if it is), or if the attack roll is high enough to hit the regular AC.
I'm not aware of any clarification on this. What's your feeling on this? I'd like to be able to do more damage if I can, but I don't want to waste a feat.
| DM Shisumo |
Deadly Aim explicitly works on all firearms attacks, regardless of whether you roll high enough to hit regular AC or not. In fact, here's the rules, straight outta the basic firearms write-up in Ultimate Combat: "When firing an early firearm, the attack resolves against the target's touch AC when the target is within the first range increment of the weapon, but this type of attack is not considered a touch attack for the purposes of feats and abilities such as Deadly Aim."

You are missing the giant frogs and the giant crabs. (Which is odd, since they are giants. You think they'd be easy to keep track of.)
Funny guy. Thanks!
It appears that third is a relatively quiet level. I will likely take the feat for the PrC I'm aiming for and that is pretty much the only decision to make until I can prep spells next.

So I can't help but notice the Swashbuckler class preview today seems very much in line with what I'm trying to do with Artevious. I see Panache, deeds, derring-do and the like. Assuming we survive these caverns, will you entertain some retooling if the ACG offering is the better way to go?

The arcanist had really cool potential, but in my playtest came up feeling short of both the sorcerer and the wizard in actual play. The exploits used a resource pool that was way too limited for the benefits the exploits gave, and having about the same number of spells as a regular wizard per day meant the "magic" ran out quickly. That's really a low-level problem in general, I know, but without even a school power or bloodline ability to fall back on... well, at one point my arcanist actually had to stab someone with her rapier.

Not at the moment, but I'm about 85% sure that the arcanist will be in the Free RPG Day adventure and therefore will be showing up on the blog here pretty shortly. (And in the adventure itself, for that matter.) So we might get a better look soon.
