Summoned Creatures |

ICK-ICK-ICK
With powerful thrusts of the flipper, the dolphin picks up speed, quickly leaving behind the fishes as well as the boat, racing towards the shoreline, taking Agaban away.
'Run' towards the coast. 80*4=320ft

Shadows of Sand GM |

That... is an interesting dolphin... XD
Lucien manages to keep the boat under control and Agaban gets pulled quickly towards the coast by the dolphin, who blinks away immediately. Agaban has a sufficient lead and makes it the rest of the way to the shore without incident while the others row to shore.
There he shows the others the bracelet he found, which is encrusted rust and decades-hardened grime.
What do you do now?

Gara Master of the Living Sand |

As a note:
- Garas SLA summons persist for minutes/lvl rather than rounds/lvl
- So the dolphin would have 6 rounds of 'running' for a whooping total of 1920ft he could carry Agaban - probably enough to carry him across the entire lake
- Yeah it IS a dolphin xD
-> I use that alias for all my summons, and don't change the pic on every summon ^^
Gara is most obviously glad that someone ended the violent shaking of the boat.
Even more so, once they reach the shoreline.
As Agaban shows them his find, Gara seems not overly impressed.
"Can we sell that?
How much is it worth, what do you think?"

Zatinya |
"Phew, that was a close call . . . " says Zatinya in relief. As the party rows to shore, Zatinya uses her magics and starts drying herself off. Prestidigitation
Zaza's excitement as Agaban pulls out a bracelet is quickly replaced with a frown as the old rusty object is revealed. "Huh, well that wasn't exactly what I had in mind. Though I guess it's at least very old? There could be something nice under there! Let me try to clean that off." More prestidigitation! Some of the grime starts coming off as Zaza waits with lingering hope.

Shadows of Sand GM |

That's right. Forgot about that thing for summoners. He definitely made it to shore either way.
Zaza's magic reveals the rubies set in gold underneath the bracelet.
Anyone care to appraise or something of that nature?

Shadows of Sand GM |

You recall that the legend said something of a magical property of this bracelet. It was also said that the gems and gold alone were worth a significant amount.
Zaza, you are sure that this bracelet is worth tens of thousands of gold pieces.

Zatinya |
"This thing has to be worth a fortune!" insists Zatinya upon inspection. "Like tens of thousands of gold." She makes sure to clean the item up very nicely with her magics before presenting it to the others for consideration. "Look how the rubies sparkle in the light? It's like there's a heart of fire within."
Y'all probably shouldn't believe her appraisal.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Zaza's enthusiasm is just beginning to attract attention from others on the shore. The old man is happy to see his boat returned in one piece but is starting to look quizzically at the lot of you.
What do you do now?

Zatinya |
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
"Did you say magic?" says Zaza in surprise. "I hadn't even thought of that."
Zaza starts concentrating on the object intently, desiring to understand its magical nature if any. Casting detect magic.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 Welp, no dice. Or bad dice.
"Yes, let's get going," she agrees, noting Gara's warning. Returning the boat to its owner, Zaza is ready to head back to the inn.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Zaza detects a faint transmutation aura from the bracelet but can't figure out anything else about it. You all return to the inn.

Zatinya |
"I need to thank that lizardman if I ever see him again," concludes Zaza as the party regroups at the inn.
"I'm open to suggestions on what to do next. I have a couple of ideas. First, The Bazaar happens tomorrow night. We spend the rest of our time trying to recognize as many members of this crew as we can. We can find a good place to do a stakeout to see who comes and goes from the warehouse. Then we see if we can recognize those same people at the Bazaar. If we're lucky, they're selling goods that can't easily be snuck into or out of a warehouse in the city. In which case they might instead use that secret tunnel. After the Bazaar, we track their path back and we find the tunnel."
"Second, we could see if some of the same folks from their crew come back tonight for a drink. Then we can try to charm them into up some information about the tunnel. And if that doesn't work . . . I guess Gara can do his thing." Zaza shudders a little at the thought. "If that route works, we should be ready to strike as early as tonight. What do you guys think?"

![]() |

Sorry for the delay, I don't have the time at work lately and the laptop decided it wanted to be annoying last night so couldn't post.
Personally feel like we should see if more of our friends come back to drink tonight...Will make it easier to take down the group if they are already down 2+ people.
Kind of an aside.
What did the orders say again...capture everyone...or dismantle the smuggling ring...Would taking out the leader and the majority be enough to succeed.
Looking back at the treasure they recovered earlier.
Do you think we can use an attempt at selling this at the Bazaar as a reason to be there...not sure if they try to keep track of any newcomers...Did you get a chance to scout out the Bazaar's location last night Lucien?

Zatinya |
"Haven't figured out what this does yet," says Zatinya, "but there's definitely some transmutation magic at work. Could be a protective charm of some sort. Do you want to wear it, Blue? You're often in the front lines, after all."
As the part discusses plans, Zaza notes: "I think we're supposed to eliminate the smuggling ring. Does that mean eliminating all its membership? Maybe not, but it definitely includes the leadership. These guys murdered at least one tariff officer. We shouldn't feel too bad for them." Zaza's voice seems to show some doubt, as if she was trying to convince herself of her argument.
"Alright, let's take a break and see if a couple more smugglers come back tonight."

Shadows of Sand GM |

Anyone want to try on the bracelet? 50 xp to all for finishing this small sidequest.
After the scare with the quippers and swimming the depths of the Pool of Sihbon, you decide to rest in your room in the tavern. You then head down into the tavern for a meal and see the halfling sitting and drinking by himself.

Zatinya |
"Suit yourselves . . . no appreciation for fashion. This thing is probably worth more than anything I've ever had in my life!" Zatinya tries on the bracelet. Because that is just what a fiery, impulsive ifrit would do . . .
* * *
Seeing the same halfling sitting alone, the undoubtedly recognizable Zatinya looks to the others, gives them a wink, and breaks off to approach the smuggler. "Hey, friend. It's not good to drink alone." Zatinya takes a seat hoping to make a new friend. "Whereas it's common courtesy to drink together." Zaza waves over a bartender. "I'll have what he's having."
She's really hoping not to get rejected during this whole routine.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Shadows of Sand GM |

As Zaza dons the bracelet, she feels a surge of competency through her mind, which she then focuses on talking to the halfling. The bracelet seems to adapt to her intent.
Zaza, you now have a +3 bonus to diplomacy checks while you wear that bracelet.
The halfling smiles with charm of his own, appreciating Zaza's friendly interest. He takes a long slow sip while watching her over the top of his drink. What's a girl like you doing alone? Where's your scaly friend?

Zatinya |
Zaza takes a sip of her own drink. "Oh, he is off guarding the next caravan out, I think. Friendly fellow, but a little too boring. His best story was about hitting a janni very hard with his hammer. I'm looking for someone a little more exciting than that." Zaza brushes the hair from her face and leans in conspiratorially. "Maybe you can share something exciting with me?"
Zaza will continue chattering and is trying to maneuver the conversation into the halfling's exciting life as a smuggler. And if he invites her to go back with him to the warehouse, she'll do it.

Shadows of Sand GM |

The halfling chuckles smugly to himself and whispers several tales of derring-do to you over his cups. After a few minutes of that, he whispers
Aye lass. But if you want to hear some really good stuff, we should go somewhere private. My best stories aren't for all ears.
He goes up to the bar and asks to get a room for a few hours.

![]() |

Seeming to be a little dazed after recovering the bracelet and the harrowing escape from the little quippers.
It maybe worth more than you have had but never been a fan of trying unknown transmutation magics.
Seeing Zaza try on the bracelet anyways Agaban sends up a quick prayer that they aren't going to lose a member before attempting to take on the smugglers.
***
As Zaza approaches the halfling. Agaban whispers to the others.
Lets grab some food and then have yall head back to get ready to take this guy when Zaza gets him alone.
So saying Agaban approaches the bar ordering the same meal he got last night before approaching the same table and repeating his "supposed" absorption in the holy book while Zaza performs her magic.
Sorry everyone for the slow post rate. My laptop is having some difficulty lately with something bogging down either the hard-drive or CPU and cant pin it down.

Shadows of Sand GM |

The halfling winks at Zaza.Ah lass, you don't want to go to my place. This will be much more... Comfortable. He leads her upstairs into a room and latches the door behind him.

Zatinya |
Ugh, I sure hope I don't regret this. Zaza brings some alcohol upstairs with her to the room. Once there, she settles into a seat, unsure that she had made a good choice. She was pretty sure she knew what this fella wanted, which wasn't what she wanted at all. But she was going to try and make the best of it.
Maybe if I get him drunk enough . . . he's just a tiny halfling after all. . . She pours a drink for both of them. "So, why don't you tell me a really good story," she suggests, hoping to get him talking again.

Gara Master of the Living Sand |

Sitting at the table with the others, Garage glances very at Zatnya at regular intervals.
She is good. But ... Does she have a plan?
As the odd couple heads upstairs, Garage will whisper to the others.
I'll head to our rooms, calling IT, I'll need a minute.
Then we should stand ready near their room."
Going upstairs just behind the halfling and our firery to summon the Eidolon and arm up - and know where their room is.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Gara notices the room they enter. It's on the end of hall.
Current map at the top of the page. You should be able to move yourself on the map. No check required to open the door.
There is nowhere to sit but on the foot of the bed. The halfling takes a drink and encourages you to do likewise. He says
You want to hear one of my REALLY good stories? Now why would a lass like you want to hear something like that?
Zaza, I think you're going to need at least one bluff check here.
Anyone outside the room can hear what's going on inside with a DC 17 perception check. It will be fairly obvious to someone in the hall that you are listening at the door, however.

Zatinya |
Bluff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Shadows of Sand GM |

The halfling smiles broadly. Well then, let me tell you little lass. I'm a wanted man. My crew and I been evading the authorities for a while now. And they're never gonna catch us. We have an escape tunnel that leads out into the desert and my boss keeps a scroll of teleport on hand in case we need it. Sure smarts in the budget but it's proved useful before. He plays with Zaza's hair. This sure is some hair you have, love.

Zatinya |
Seeing her ploy have some success, she tries to get more. "Oh you are a bad boy, aren't you?" she says playfully. "What are you wanted for? I was looking to get my hands on some things at the Bazaar tomorrow . . . are you the right man to help me with that?"
Zaza starts to undress the halfling . . . expecting that once he's undressed, he'll also be disarmed.

Shadows of Sand GM |

The halfling grins as Zaza starts taking his clothes off, finding many daggers and other hidden weapons in the process. He lays them on the dresser with a wink. I could help you with that. I have connections there. My crew and I... move goods discretely. How about you, love? It's too hot in here to be all robed up.

Zatinya |
Once she's got him naked, or nearly so, she interrupts. "Stay right here, I'll be right back. I want to get something special for you from my room."
What she really wants to do is to get him sitting and get herself by the door to open it.
I'm guessing I need 1 more bluff check for this one . . . let's see how it plays out.
Bluff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 Not ideal.
She isn't taking no for an answer . . . she's unlocking and opening the door either way.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Distracted by the mutual state of undress, the halfling lies back on the bed and relaxes. Go ahead, Lass. Go ahead.
An undressed Zaza pulls the door to the room open. The halfling is lying naked on the bed with his eyes closed (or mostly closed) and isn't paying much attention.
Anyone care to try something?

Blue Lucien |

Lucien does his best to stand casually near the door, trying to listen in without looking too suspicious. He keeps one hand on his rapier, just in case. When Zaza opens the door half dressed, he looks at her for a second, then raising one eyebrow, but doesn't say anything.

Gara Master of the Living Sand |

I'll just take the idea of Agaban then...
Seeing Zatinya walking out - mostly-naked - and interpreting the signs and whisper from Agaban right, Gara sights, and walks into the room like an enraged bull, crashing the door open with a body-check-fueled shield bash - the demon just behind him.
"I KNEW IT!!
I WARN'ED YA, WOMAN, AN HERE YA ARE DOIN IT AGAIN!
AND WITH A HALFLING TO TOP IT ALL!!!
I'M GONNA FEED HIM TO THE LIVING SAND! AND THROW YOU IN AFTERWARDS!
DRESS UP YOU FOOL AND FOLLOW ME OUT, SO WE CAN HAVE A NICE LONG TALK!"
Intimidate: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
Either he complies and we can talk somewhere quiet,
or he wants to fight (then we have one less),
or maybe 'Zazi' wants to 'run away' with him from 'her crazy ex' to get his loyality?

Shadows of Sand GM |

The halfling bolts upright off the bed and leaps over to the table where he snatches up a pair of daggers.
What's going on! What do you want!
He looks quite intimidated and confused.

Shadows of Sand GM |

Startled, the halfling looks at Zaza then bundles on some of his clothes and closes the door behind him as he follows you out.

Shadows of Sand GM |

The halfling follows you outside the tavern and stands slightly concealed in shadow at the front of the building. He stares hard at Gara, twirling a dagger in his hand.
Now what's this all about? You better have a solid reason to drag me out here!

![]() |

Assuming they went storming out through the common room or was there a backdoor? Wondering if Agaban would know that the party has left the building yet or not.
