Glimmil |

Glimmil stows his shield and gets to work, with a little guidance from his friends.
"Oh? It's a trap. Let me see..."
Glimmil waits until everyone is at a safe distance before applying his spoonfu.
Disable: 1d20 + 28 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 28 + 1 = 37
If that didn't set it off, but didn't disable it, he tries again.
Disable: 1d20 + 28 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 28 + 1 = 45

Doctor Abner Svengalu Toffitt |

Toffitt casts invisibility on himself again and does a bit of reconnaissance ten to twenty feet down the various paths that lead out of the chamber.

GM_Chris |

Clicking the spoons together doesn't work this time so Glimmil tries something new. He rubs the spoons together--dismayed at the scratches--but oddly confident he's on the right track. After several minutes it sounds as if something is dying, but a reassuring "POP!" from the altar convinces Glimmil he has succeeded.
Finneas takes a swing at the altar and nothing happens in response. He bashes away until satisfied the altar is beyond usable.
Meanwhile, Toffitt explores a bit ahead, sure that there is not another spellcaster with see invisibility cast.
The next chamber has four more pillars that support the ten-foot-high ceiling of this hall. Four alcoves hold heaps of dust and bone intermingled with shards of painted ceramic. A stone arm--the remains of a shattered statue, perhaps--rests on the floor between the pillars. The arm looks human-sized and is broken at the shoulder. One of its stony fingers bears an iron ring.

Dyrant Maynor, the Pre-Sainted |

Dyrant moves to AB48 to shadow the doctor. He still floats in the air, buoyed by his overland flight, as close to the ceiling as he can.
Dyrant casts Detect Magic, looking into the room and upon the pillars, waiting, detecting, and keeping an eye on Aralynn for loop-de-loos.

Glimmil |

Glimmil continuously shifts his attention from pillar to pillar, certain one or all of them are having do-badder thoughts.
Glimmil points at the lone arm.
"That's weird right?"
Glimmil scratches his head.
"Like someone was turning to stone because they put on a cursed ring and tried to tear their own arm off?"
Glimmil blinks a few times.
"What's that ring do?"

Dyrant Maynor, the Pre-Sainted |

Dyrant's nose moves up to full stinkface as he reacts to the ring and the pillars of evil in the room.
"Beware, Toffitt, there is nothing good in that room, from ring to pillar. The taint of ungood is everywhere. And the ring has magic on it, but it is too far away to identify," Dyrant mentions.
"I trust little of it."
Dyrant stinkfaces as he rechecks his protections on Atol & Cog and his special connection to Finneas. Dyrant waits for Glim or Dr. Toffitt to act or move through the room.

Glimmil |

I'll roll both Glimmil and Cog since they were both going into the room.
Glimmil Reflex: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26
Cog Reflex: 1d20 + 14 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 14 + 3 = 27
"Whoaa... oohhh!"
Glimmil and Cog both leap back to safety, wondering how deep the floor may go now.

Dyrant Maynor, the Pre-Sainted |

Dyrant flies to R49, joining Glim on the far side.
Carefully, he peers around the corner.
1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 20 Stealth
1d20 + 27 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 27 + 2 = 47 Perception

GM_Chris |

The pit opens up to a 30' drop with spinning blades the size of longswords at the bottom.
Looking to the south from the intersection the hallway ends in a T-intersection blocked by rubble to the south, but with smaller hallways to the east and west.
Looking to the north there is a smaller hallway branching off to the east and west, but the main corridor opens up into another large room supported by pillars before continuing off into the distance.

Glimmil |

Glimmil gives Toffitt an uneasy smile that quickly turns into an easy one.
"Yes, it was! Good job, Cog!"
Cog glances up at his gnomish rider, fully aware Atol's wind walk will make most deadly pits moot, and seems to sigh.
With that, he turns to his left, knowing that dungeon-goers always explore left first.
Glim rides ahead to P,58

Atol Lem |

Atol mumbles something to himself as he passed by the loot ring, but he trusts the vision of Dyrant and presses on.
Glimmil, Wind Walk (link) is not the same thing as walking on air. It takes 5 rounds to 'change' into a form that lets you fly, but it's not a form you can fight in. So beware - I did not give you localized flight...
Atol will get someone to fly him, and his gear, across - or just turn gaseous and fly over himself (11 rounds).

GM_Chris |

To the east of Glimmil are several alcoves. In each alcove stands an ornate, four-foot-tall, varnished ceramic urn. The urns are painted with images of serpents, scimitars, and yuan-ti dressed in ceremonial armor.
To the south of Glimmil the passage ends in rubble.
To the west of Glimmil the passage briefly opens into an empty room, but then also ends in rubble.
I moved Atol, Finneas, and Toffitt into the hallway.

Glimmil |

Glimmil rubs his chin and looks down at Cog.
Cog gives Glimmil a it's probably trapped look.
Shrugging, Glimmil pokes at the urn with the tip of his lance to sneak a peek at lies within, praying it's not some poisonous gas trap that drains him of all his paladiny-goodness.

Dyrant Maynor, the Pre-Sainted |

Dyrant flies to Q58, casting detect magic even as his see-invisibility'd eyes scan for danger.
1d20 + 29 ⇒ (18) + 29 = 47 Perception
He holds a finger up, indicating for Glim to wait, while he waits for overt magics to reveal themselves.
If none do, he nods, letting Glim plunder.

Finneas Glenn |

"Let's push on. I don't like this waiting. We need to break these people."
The half-orc flexes his hands around his sword hilt, imagining finding those who have brought about so much pain.

Dyrant Maynor, the Pre-Sainted |

Dyrant wags Glim away from the urns, and nods him to follow Atol. Dyrant flies to Q45 quietly, to peek around the corner.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 Stealth
1d20 + 29 ⇒ (13) + 29 = 42 Perception

GM_Chris |

Dyrant encourages Glimmil to leave the urns alone and heads north to the first hallway. He peeks down it and sees it turns left. Closer to the pillars now he sees that the four innermost pillars of the chamber to the north bear lit torches in serpentine sconces, and the flickering light casts sinister shadows upon the walls, ceiling, and floor. Some of the pillars are cracked and crumbling, revealing slick black stone beneath the plaster murals. The murals depict masses of writhing snakes and yuan-ti clad in black robes and golden armor.
Looking around waiting for the others to catch up, Dyrant notices the floor between him and Atol looks similar to the floor trap in the other hallway, but it has not been activated yet.

Dyrant Maynor, the Pre-Sainted |

Dyrant points out the trap to the team, especially Glim, in case the gnome wants to attempt his derring-do again.
Move to O42. I assume that Dr. Toffitt is up with me...but is posting more rarely. If not, Dyrant will wait for back up.
Dyrant peers around the next corner.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 Stealth
1d20 + 29 ⇒ (2) + 29 = 31 Perception

Doctor Abner Svengalu Toffitt |

Toffitt attempts to keep the lead, casting invisibility as he goes to remain as inconspicuous as possible. He remains mostly as a silent, disembodied voice, returning and murmuring in Dyrant's ear when he notices anything.
Stealth: 1d20 + 20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 20 + 8 + 2 = 45
Perception: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (8) + 30 = 38

Glimmil |

Glimmil frowns a little and makes it clear that he's not opening the urns because he's afraid of what's inside, but because the others suggested there were better uses of his time.
"Come on Cog, let's go this way..."
Glimmil hestiates as Dyrant points out another trap.
"This place is super-trapped!"
Glimmil checks to see if a bent spoon may make the floor safely passable without the need to shift back into gas-form, because when you need to disable a pit trap - a bent spoon is what you need.
Disable: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (13) + 28 = 41

GM_Chris |

Toffitt takes the lead while Glimmil deals with the trap. Toffitt finds nothing new of interest and waits for the rest of the party.
Glimmil finds the trap rather bland compared to others he's encountered during the last year. He picks a tarnished bent spoon with no sentimental value and jams into the floor near the wall.
"All done!"

Glimmil |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Glimmil rubs his head, as if the ruined complex were weighing on it.
Something is trying to tell me that spoon had no sentimental value, but THEY ALL HAVE SENTIMENTAL VALUE!
Smiling down at Cog, he rubs his hand between his friend's ears.
It's okay. It's the evil in this place.
As the others move ahead, Glimmil ensures a side passage is secure before rejoining them.

Doctor Abner Svengalu Toffitt |

Toffitt flies into the pillared chamber, scanning for invisible beasties. R34 +10'
Perception: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (9) + 30 = 39
Yes, quiet. Wonderfully so. Perhaps I'll go wander the countryside when this is done, luxuriating in silence and tending the occasional ill traveler.

Dyrant Maynor, the Pre-Sainted |

"Think we killed the giant and scared 'em off. Hey Dyrant, you can see other places right, places you aren't?"
Dyrant nods at Finneas.
"Let us go a bit further and I'll see if the Angels will respond to my calls," Dyrant agrees.

GM_Chris |

Glimmil comes upon a torchlit chamber containing two oval stone tables with built in shelves beneath them. The shelves are line with clay jars and tattered funeral vestments and wrappings. The murals on the walls depict yuan-ti burial rituals; the removal of vital organs, the placement of organs in clay canopic jars, the mummification of the body, the placement of the remains in a large ceramic urn, and the ritual sealing of the urn.
The rest of the party starts an encounter, but will need to wait an hour or two.

GM_Chris |

Dyrant looks around the corner at a very large and mean looking badger standing in front of a man wearing full plate armor, and wielding a heavy steel shield and a bastard sword. He wears a cloak and gloves that appear to be made of human flesh. He has shaggy black hair, blood-red tattoos patterns on his face, and the unholy symbol of Erythnul on his shield.

Thinking not, Dryant delivers a withering look at both of them.

Dyrant stares down the man and badger before Toffitt's arrows strike true, but the man remains standing. Finneas comes around the pillar and the man hisses, "Thief! Occipitus is mine!"
The badger clears the way for the man and provokes from Finneas as it moves into the room before attacking Finneas.
The man then moves up and hits Finneas with his bastard sword before cleaving into Dryant.
