I would assume everyone would be moving at a speed that would allow you to keep pace, but since you're bow-wielding it wouldn't matter too much. Also, in terms of initiative I'm not gonna be handling it traditionally so that combat doesn't take three or four days for an encounter if someone can't get to a computer. I'll try to post ooc with each encounter so that you guys know how it works. With this one for the pterosaurs, you guys all get any full-round action and then the pterosaurs go, and then after that the same thing repeating until the encounter is resolved.
Mordack's arrow pierces the lead creature's chest, causing the creature visible pain but not dissuading it from its goal. Down to 4 hp.
Sasha charges the creatures, slashing at the lead creature with her rapier.
To Hit: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Sasha's strike brings down the first creature, leaving it twitching on the ground.

For you Inti, the barbarian was prepared to charge so he did, but you had enough warning I'll allow you an attack action. You're down to 0, yes, but fortunately there are two healers on the beach (too bad one's short a holy symbol). Kevorin and the rest of the beach group will go before the barbarian goes again, and then it'll be cyclical.
Gelik sees Inti go down, and puts an arrow to his bow and looses.

I'm waiting to see what happens when I search the deck.

Gudbjörn |

Just not a lot going on at my location.
So, dustæm, what brought you to this ill-fated trip?
Dustæm is a Persian approximation for "my friend." Gudbjörn, despite his Nordic name, is a desert dwarf. From the descriptions I've read, they have a somewhat Persian/Sumerian theme, so I'm incorporating some "ethnic" phrases to reflect this.

connortheconman |

Conveniently right as I ask where everyone is I disappear. Oh well, on we go.
Asmodia's search of the deck turns up nothing, any loose items long since thrown overboard by the crashing of the waves. Here and there a few scraps of rope are still tied down, but all together it would only equal out to a few feet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Joll's strike hits the next creature, smashing it in the chest and causing it to call out in great pain. 3 hp left.
Not to be a stickler, Mordack, but you and Inti are currently at least a few miles apart. But I wouldn't worry about Inti, it's still round 1 at the beach.
Ishirou sighs, testing the edge of his katana in impatience. "I've been doing work as a hired hand in Bloodcove for years now, and my contract with my former employer expired, and now I'm out to see the world again and maybe find my way back to Tian one day to retire."
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Ishirou's ears perk up, hearing the sound of combat slightly distant along the path his companions just trod. He grabs his katana in a combat stance and motions for Gudbjörn to follow. "It sounds like they're in trouble, Gudbjörn! Let's Go!"
Sorry guys work has been hell. I've got a light week so here's hoping we can get something done! Also Inti, I was trying to wait for Kevorin to post but it seems he's gone MIA for now. I'm going to GMPC him for now but if he doesn't post/respond to my PM we may end up with a new character.
Mordack's arrow brings down the last creature, bringing the red-and-brown reptile crashing to the jungle floor. Just as the creature comes down Gudbjorn and Ishirou come running from the trail behind. Ishirou relaxes his grip at the sight of the dead creatures.
"It seems we came too late, Gudbjorn. Alas, we'll have to wet our blades another time."
Sasha examines the corpse of one of the creatures with the end of her kukri, turning it back and forth with the point of her knife. "No idea, but these little guys are kinda cute." She looks up to see Mordack moving onward into the jungle, and picks up her weapons to follow him. "Maybe we should ask our friendly park ranger there."
Mordacks head in the direction the creatures came from, coming to the edge of the jungle only to face a sheer cliff dropping eighty-some feet to a surf of crashing waves. Taking a leaf out of other online DM's books, I'm gonna do mass dice rolls so that we can progress a little faster.
Everyone hears the sound of the creatures, but Mordack, Gudbjörn, and Joll can tell that the sounds are coming from about ten feet below the lip of the cliff, and the cries are obviously the sound of very young creatures.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gelik is positively beaming after the sudden appearance of the barbarian from the jungle. "I must say, this is a first for me. A sudden ambush by a wild man from the jungle. This will certainly make for a story worth telling if we ever make it off of this rock. Inti my fellow, are you alright? It almost seemed as though he would get the better of you for a moment there."

![]() |

Mordack steps back from the cliff and asks everyone else do the same, explaining to them that is where the creatures are coming from.

Gudbjörn |

If there are young nesting, there is bound to be an adult, unless these other two that were felled were the adults. That being said, there could be other nests close by with their own adults guarding their young, if they react the way most common birds do, and depending upon how territorial they are. Aside from that, I don't think there is anything more to offer us in the way of a camp site down the cliff face.

connortheconman |

Sasha nods, twirling her kukri in thought. "That is a shame. We could've had eggs to go with our lobsters. I'm going to peek over the cliff to see if the nest is exposed or if it is perhaps inside a cave. If it's in a cave, that could provide an excellent camp provided we find some rope to get down there. No worrying about wild animals, anyway."
Sasha walks quietly to the edge of the cliff, peering over the side, down to the surf below. Then she walks backward before turning around to address the party. "It looks like the nest is inside a cave. We can continue to look for another campsite, or we can find something to climb down with and clear out the cave. It's up to you all. But it looks like it's going to be dark in a few hours, and finding another suitable site could take up what little daylight we have left."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gelik notices the dejected look on Inti's face regarding his excitement over the recent turn of events. "Sorry if I seem a little excited, lad. It's a gnome thing. We literally live for excitement." Gelik looks up at the sun, noticing the time of day. "I hope they find a campsite soon, it seems we don't have much daylight left."
Jask shifts in his manacles, trying to make himself comfortable. "Indeed. I wonder how Asmodia and Aerys are coming along. Hopefully they can salvage a few things from the wreck to make things a little easier."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since I haven't heard from Asmodia in a while I'm going to GMPC to get things moving along. My apologies Beowulf. XD
After Asmodia searches the deck, she follows Aerys into the remains of the captain's cabin. While Aerys searches the desk, Asmodia searches the metal footlocker. Tucked into an oilcloth sack with the words 'Property of the prisoner Jask Derindi', she finds a suit of leather armor, a masterwork dagger, two potion bottles labeled 'Curative Drought', a holy symbol of Nethys, and a pouch of spell components.
"I found Jask's gear. If we decide as a group to free him he could prove useful. I doubt a cleric of Nethys would seek to do any of us harm without provocation."
Aerys tries a lower drawer in the desk, finding it locked. "Asmodia, I have no skill in picking locks and I think you are the stronger of the two of us. Would you mind forcing the drawer?"
Asmodia nods in reply, drawing her sword. She inserts the blade into the crack of the drawer, attempting to force the lock.
Break: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Asmodia manages to force the drawer, bringing the hardwood drawer open. Inside is a bottle of fine brandy, a darkwood model of the Jenivere in a glass bottle, and small coffer containing 350 gold pieces. Also in the drawer is a long leather satchel containing a number of potions labeled as healing potions, restoration, remove disease, water breathing and water walking.
"These should prove quite useful in surviving this damnable jungle."
Aerys nods in reply, helping Asmodia load the items from the desk into the oilcloth sack. "Let's continue searching the ship. We can leave the sack here for now."

Asmodia and Aerys leave the sack of supplies in the captain's cabin, continuing their search of the shipwreck. As they near the lower decks they hear a scrabbling sound coming from ahead, as if something was trying to get through a door. Asmodia waves for Aerys to move silently, and the two of them attempt to sneak up on the source of the noise.

As you struggle to focus, you can hear the distant sounds of waves crashing upon the wooden hull. As you come to your senses, you can hear the sounds of combat nearby. Your eyes open and you find yourself in a small store room, along with the probably deceased body of a man you recognize as the Jenivere's first mate, Alton Devers. You first reflex is to check your weapons, and sure enough all of your knives are still there.

My advice for Aersten's start is to simply show up at the entrance to the cave where the largest portion of the party is looking for shelter. Or else show up at the beach where several of the NPC's are waiting for Aerys and Asmodia to return from the wreck of the Jenivere.

I guess I'll go ahead and start in the store room. That probably means that Julian and I are in the same room.
Haloniel slowly gets up. As he does so he realizes that he is in a store room with Julian and the deceased first mate. Haloniel says, "Well, it looks like the two of us at least are alive. Do you have any idea what happened? Before I totally forget my manners, my name is Haloniel."

Julian "Knives" Veartoll |

Sure, though both of you should be wondering a bit about me... I have been hiding aboard since Quent and only the now deceased first mate knew I was here.
Julian starts as Haloniel introduces himself. Whatever knocked me out must have dulled my senses... not like me to miss someone being alive. Before he can fully process this, however, another elf finally breaks the door open. For not having seen that many of my kind this is certainly an odd place to have a gathering.
"I have no idea what happened to us or the ship. The last memory I have is... the First Mate here, bringing me something to eat prior to some big dinner with the captain of this ship. I know that you don't have any reason to believe me... I was a stowaway after all. But I did not kill him, nor sabotage the ship."
