You open the door to the "south" oops, yeah i don't have a compass rose on the map. down = south is good enough, but i'll put one on since the room does use direction sometimes and i don't want to confuse myself more. inside this room, the theme of judgement in the afterlife is continued in the carvings on the walls. A wide table stands along the north wall, draped in a heavy black cloth. A single candle burns in a tall, iron candlestick in the southwest corner from a tall taper that seems tended. A gold plate sits at the center of the table. but the rest of the room is cloaked in shadows.
A sibilant whisper reaches your ears.
Enter those who seek to draw back the veil of mystery that cloaks the Godsmouth Ossuary, and seekers of the secrets of the Ancients. Place a gold upon the tray and knowledge shall be yours...
its hard to determine at first listen where its coming from.
there looks to be more to explore to the southeast- a wooden door sits in one of the far corners of the room.

Adinomo follows Uldeth's example and also place a gold coin on the tray.
"I am ready for more knowledge!"
Take 10 perception: 10 + 5 = 15
he then puts his finger to his lips and points to the tablecloth over the table that obscures anyone that might hide there.

Goat Master |

As it continues speaking, though it echoes oddly, you do indeed think its coming from beneath the heavy tablecloth.
beyond this hall lies a room with double doors, a long oval shaped room. the walls covered with a bewildering array of runes, sigils, and glyphs. And below them, stacks of engraved stone tablets in wall niches. guarded by runes.
beyond that beyond that lies a pit of enormous dimensions in a circular room. its bottom lost in darkness. the ceiling is perhaps twenty feet above the pit. the ledge around it, encircling the pit, a crumbling, narrow five ft. walkway, a door on one end, and the way here opposite.
Your coin is appreciated travellers. Care you to know more of the ancients?

Goat Master |

its sibilint whisper professes: I know ALL, I see ALL. Honor knowledge and place your homage upon the plate... You know, but do not even begin to know!

Goat Master |

eh, what?
1d20 ⇒ 7
I thought you wished to know about the graves...
it pauses, seeming, kind of confused by your line of questioning. it answers about the graves, and considers the question about the short fellow a new question worth a new homage.
Beyond the great pit, through a door on the other opposite ledge, a human man is toiling, bringing life to the dead.

Goat Master |

He was a stranger to these lands... a newcomer, like you, vexed by unintelligible stupidity.

Goat Master |

No, fair travellers. you speak the Common tongue, and it is clear you are noble explorers. I wish you well in your travels. eh... and for a nominal fee, i will tell you how to circumvent the trap on the door over yonder, and you may cross the room and explore as you wish... only five gold for the door's secrets.

Goat Master |

she rattles off a little riddle about the door. having a look at the door, you see it is emblazoned with a strange seven-pointed start with sigils dancing at each of the seven outward stretching points. you pick up on the verse, and realize its an small arcane logic puzzle. but you can repeat the riddle, and solve the puzzle at the door. it requires a cantrip from each of seven schools to be cast into the appropriate rune in the right order.
That way, leads out of the ossuary, explorers. An ancient prison lies beneath Kaer Maga. Tread cautiously if you seek to delve what lies below and yet live to tell your tale.

Knowledge (Bardic): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Ah! A sihedron star, those represent the seven schools of thassilonian magic. This is probably not part of the ossuary and most likely very dangerous!

Goat Master |

You think you see some pile of stuff, and some black rope ? Some of the rope is sticking up out of the pile.
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
You realize the rope, is actually some kind of serpentine creature.
Knowledge arcana check for you ?

Goat Master |

no idea, but clearly a reasonable and knowledgable creature. whatever it is.

Adinomo quickly drops the tablecloth "Oh great Naga, please accept my apologies for disturbing you"
Holy frac! A Naga!? But... aren't they all powerful and very big? What's it doing underneath a table cloth like some cheap conjurer's trick? Best leave it be, Uldar seems to know what he is talking about.
Adinomo moves back out of the room, keeping the table in his sights. He then turns quickly and almost falls over his own shoes. "Shall we investigate those doors in the corridor?
Placed besides the door he tries to open

Goat Master |

The door takes some prodding and poking but survives, and appears safe to open and unlocked.

Goat Master |

The smooth floor and ceiling of this circular room have been polished to a glossy shine, and the curving walls appear to be made of a faintly silver reflective material as smooth and flawless as glass.
do you go inside? or just browsing from the doorway?

Wisdom: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Adinomo stands poised on the doorstep, almost stepping in when he gathers himself. He casts a minor cantrip Detect magic
"Oooh, that is a very strong aura! I wonder what it does. Uldar, do you know what would happen if we where to step into that room?"

![]() |

Knowledge (Bardic): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
"No idea, but the oracle said: "Beyond the great pit, through a door on the other opposite ledge, a human man is toiling, bringing life to the dead." Maybe we should check that out first!"

Goat Master |

So, you ignore the alluring and fascinating magical room, and ... seek the great pit? i'll give a description of the intersection past the doors in a few.

Goat Master |

the corridor branches, going south to the left, north to the right, and a set of double doors lies a little recessed to the west. The ossuary's grave silence pervades the area, you hear not a sound coming from any direction at the moment.

Goat Master |

the gm nudges right.
Looking right, the hall goes down thirty feet, before turning left into T intersection. To the left, another locked door with a Sihedron star on it, to the right, a forty foot corridor ending in a door.
This door, like the other, looks like it leads deeper, and out of the ossurary. the other door at the end of the hall, is not so adorned. and seems to have had some use more recently.

Goat Master |

Opening the door that shows some recent signs of use, you come into a circular room. Inside is a thirty foot diameter pit, its depths lost in darkness. The ceiling arches twenty feet above the pit, which is encircled by a narrow, and at places precarious looking, five-foot-wide walkway. A door stands in the opposite wall of the room, across the pit.

up to the birdman. at the very least, lem can light things up with the dancing lights, he moves up by the ledge and starting from the ceiling, lowers his lights in a ten ft ring, to illuminate the pit.

Goat Master |

Lem walks up to the ledge, lowering his dancing lights into the pit.
perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
You don't see much. you lower them 110 ft. down away from you, and don't see anything but more spots of the dark tunnel briefly illuminated.

npc_lem |

Rika's got the badger/wolverine named Moose. Eleanor has the bird.
I'll just keep the lights on in the room around floor level, that should illuminate the place enough for us. Shall we check out that door?

Goat Master |

It opens easily enough. the light spills in behind you, casting your shadow over a long hallway. in the distance you think you see some mist in the hallway, blood splatters cover the floor from about twenty feet in. The distant odor of rotting flesh wafts to your nostrils.

Goat Master |

there's a pause for a round or two as you buff yourselves with a spell or something. if so, just say in your first post.
