Ludvig von Ingelstein |
Ludvig frowns as he watches his mighty swing bounce off the fungus-formed foe. "Blasted mushman, ye'll be in me gravy t'night!" Ludvig sidesteps so he is opposite Hrrm. Pulling out his dagger, which he uses mostly for cutting the wax off a wine cork, he slashes at his enemy.
dagger attack, flanking: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 8 + 2 = 21
damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Hrrm |
Looks like these things are immune to most magics, concentrate on buffing the fighters if you can
"Hrrrrrmmmmmm."
Hrrm stabs again at the pesky mushman
Longspear: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17 and, once again the gods of dice are laughing at me.
Caireann o'Shea |
Caireann peeks off the tree, quickly looks for the closest enemy and let's an arrow loose to hit it.
Let's see how this sniping attacks work
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 (-4 for firing into Melee, +1 within 30' of target, ignores target Dex bonus to AC as he is unaware)
Damage Roll: 1d4 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 1 + (6) = 8 (+1 within 30' and 1d6 Sneak attack)
After seeing if her aim was true she tries to hide away behind the truck again.
Stealth Roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 (-20 sniping, +3 distance, +5 enemy distracted)
At least she remains hidden
High-feather |
Highfeather looks puzzled, "My magic cannot help you ape, but this might." He then, using one talon, grabs a tanglefoot bag made from dryad sap that was strapped to his other leg and, hovering in the air above his branch throws it at the nearest mushroom man.
ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Possible ranged increment penalties could be applied depending on how far away it is.
The Black Blade |
Stormbringer continues its relentless attack upon the vile minions of mushroom malice. It falls upon the first mushroom as a falcon swoops down at a flight of ducks.
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
damage if attack hits: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Goldmyr |
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Afraid of hitting her friends, Caireann errs on the side of caution. Her arrow misses the engagement completely, and while the mushroom man is again able to dodge Hrrm's stab, it is caught from above by the owl's trap. However, it still remained mobile enough to duck under the black blade's flying strike.
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
The indigo fire Sykk unleashed upon the creature from the potion continues to burn it. Spreading across the rest of its body, the mushroom man is turned to ash before your eyes.
Sykk and Ludvig are up.
Caireann o'Shea |
Caireann peek from behind the mushroom she is hiding.
"Is it over?"
If it is over she approaches and examines the remains of the creatures.
Perception roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Caireann o'Shea |
"Too bad we couldn't get any information from them... Let's go, lets keep advancing and find Arianne... I'll go first, scouting ahead."
Caireann becomes invisible again and goes 100' ahead of the group, pending of other enemies.
Perception roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Stealth roll (+20 invisible): 1d20 + 38 ⇒ (12) + 38 = 50
Ludvig von Ingelstein |
am I correct in reading they are both now dead?
Ludvig jumps back from flaming mushman. "Ah, roasted mushrooms, now a' we need is a stuffed pheasant or two. Well, p'rhaps a few more wit' Hrrm 'ere."
Ludvig wipes his blade then tucks it away in his sheath and looks up at Sykk. "Mighty fine potion ye got there."
Sykk |
Sykk lands on the ground near Ludvig and carefully puts the stopper back into the vial.
"It worked wonderfully! I wish I knew what it was made of - we should save it in case there are even more dangerous creatures in the Blight"
How many vials did we get, and how much have I used from my vial?
"Next time we'll be prepared for battle, I'll make sure you and Hrrm are better armored with a spell or two," Sykk says, shuffling through some scrolls in his backpack.
Hrrm |
Hrrrmmmm. Mushman tricky. Magic water good trick."
Disappointed that I missed both attacks, but nm. Should we organise ourselves into some semblance of order? Frontliners at the front, scout ranging ahead, backroom boys behind, rearguard, etc.?
The Black Blade |
Stormbringer circles the field, eager to test its skill against more foes. "Excellent. The first of many to fall to our combined skill! I hunger for more souls and prestige! Perhaps we should allow Caireann to move ahead, followed by Ludvig given their innate invisibility and superior stealth. Hrrm can follow them, while Sykk rides on him and provides direct spell support, and I fly above and behind to act as rearguard or fast calvalry. Alas, I can contribute but one blade at present to our cause, but that will change as I come into my full power."
Caireann o'Shea |
Keeping invisible, Caireann heart races while she flies following the tiny tracks.
"Arianne" - She thinks...
Perception roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Stealth roll (+20 invisible): 1d20 + 38 ⇒ (4) + 38 = 42
Question: Does Caireann invisibility have a duration? Or is it until she dismiss it or attacks?
Goldmyr |
The tracks take you deeper into the blight.
Perception checks
Caireann: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
High Feather: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Hrrm: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Ludvig: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (18) + 17 = 35
Stormbringer: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Sykk: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
As you begin scouting, Caireann sees a group of grey skinned humanoids just standing in a circle among stalks of rotted leaves and sickly, yellow smoke.
Caireann o'Shea |
Caireann flies back to tell the others about it.
"I can go back, and play some tricks on them! When you see the fire, you go and pummel them! Don't look at the fire or you will get blind!"
She will turn invisible (last one of the day) and fly next to them, some 20' up, stealthy.
Stealth Roll (+20 invisible): 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (1) + 27 = 28
Once there she will use her Entangle spell-like ability (Reflex DC 14 to avoid being entangled).
The next round she will use her Pyrotechnics to create Fireworks and blind the creatures (Will DC 15 to avoid being blinded for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 rounds).
Hrrm |
Remember, not everything is automatically going to be an enemy. Sometimes things can be friends, or at least temporary allies. Maybe they are a lost orc patrol, or maybe they are vicious nasty enemies; unless we take time to find out, we may be losing a potential ally or someone with vital information. If they are different creatures, then they have not shown themselves to be an enemy, my inclination would be to approach cautiously and see how they respond.
Caireann o'Shea |
Caireann nods and hides in the top of a close fungus tree.
Still has one invisibility left (she didn't use it, nor will use it right now).
Stealth Roll: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35 (+1 for each 10' distance)
Hrrm |
Hrrm looks at Highfeather. "That what Hrrm say." He gets out his club and, seeing there are no trees about I assume there are none., pulls out a large rock from his bag and places it on the ground to use as an impromptu drum.
Goldmyr |
The creatures continue to approach, slowly. They do not speak, except to groan or grunt. As they get right in front of you, you finally see the strands of vegetation around their ears and mouth like an infection. You guys get a surprise round if you want to take it.
My posting should be more regular now that Easter and Spring break are done.
