Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

"... whether they are alive or dead." the warforged continues Toxim's statement.

GM

"Saúdos viaxeiros" the woman calls out to you in a tongue none of you know. Although it does sound vaguely elvish.

Elvish gestamation

Spoiler:
The first word sounds like the old elvish word for welcome or maybe nice, it is hard to tell as it is pronounced a way none of you ever would say it.

Seeing the look of confusion on your faces the woman, starts to look a bit suspicious

"Հասկանում եք նաեւ խոսել հողը?" She calls out, in clear careful tones.

Sylvan

Spoiler:
"Do you understand the speak of Thelanis" which is the plane of the feycourt and is referring to sylvan

Does it sound like the elvish the Deathless we encounterd in the other ruins spoke?

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Detect evil still. Just so you don't overlook that I'm using it. ;)

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

"Unless I'm the guy for this job."
Does Ardanto have sylvan?
Toxim steps forward and responds
Sylvan

Spoiler:
"Yes. At least a few of us do. I am Toxim 'ir Kinain. I do not wish to give insult, but I do not know the appropriate honorific by which to address you. Would Queen or perhaps Mother be acceptable?

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

Finn replies in (modern) Elvish:

Spoiler:
"Hello. We mean no harm. We are castaways and we are simply passing through on our way south. If you don't want us to spend the night here, we will move on."

He adds: "Do you speak Common?"

EDIT: Apparently Finn and Toxim are saying two things at once!

GM

No Ardanto does not speak it,and sorry Guard I erased the detect evil in an edit and didn't notice.s for the elvish, yes and no. The first word sounds close, but is not said the same way, as if the emphasis is on the wrong syllables. It is clearly a related tongue, but not elvish, but maybe one that borrowed heavily from it at some point. Which is the best anyone of ya can guess on two words :)

The woman looks at both Finn and Toxim, Finns words seem to confuse her a bit and she looks at Toxim. "Որ շան ունեցողներին, խոսքերը փողով. Ես չեմ հասկանում, բոլորին." She says pointing to Finn.

She says to Toxim. You are close enough now to clearly see her and she is old, very much so, her skin dark and winkled but her eyes bright and clear. She wears a dress of dark silk of an unknown make and her head is covered by a golden Phylactery of alien design.

"Ով եք դուք, որ թափառում է իմ վեբ? Դուք չեք այդ տեղը. Ես չեմ տեսնում ձեր նման է ու տարիքի ընտրութեան. Ինչ բերում ձեզ իմ վեբ?" she asks Toxim

detect evil

Spoiler:
You feel no Presence of evil here

Sylvan

Spoiler:
"The tainted ones , words are twisted. I do not understand them all."

"You may call me lithira, queen of these ruins"

"Who are you that have wandered into my web? You are not from this place. I have not see your like in an age. What brings you to my web?"

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

"She doesn't seem to be evil, to my senses anyway." Guard informs the group silently. "But I don't understand a word she says."

Guard is still a bit cautious, but keeps his scimitar in it's sheath and his hands away from that.
He also is keeping his eyes at the surroundings and away from the old woman.

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

Toxim translates a bit.
This is Lithira. She is the queen of these ruins. She asks who we are and what brings us to her web. At this point everyone needs to stay calm, bow in respect, and don't step on any spiders."

Is her 'olde elvish' reminiscent of the Honored Elder's speech?

He then continues in sylvan, repeating what Finn said.

Spoiler:
"We are castaways and we are simply passing through on our way south. If you don't want us to spend the night here, we will move on, great queen.

GM

"Դուք գալիս այլուր? Դուրս է կղզու?" She says in soft tones, her eyes bright.

Ինչպես եք եկել է այստեղ?" she says with open curiosity

Sylvan

Spoiler:
"You come from elsewhere? Off the island?"

"It is a rare thing for outsider to come into my web. Where is your homeland? How did you come to be here?"

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

Daurros speaks up.

Sylvan

Spoiler:
"Yes, Lithira. I am Daurros Erdai. We hail from the city of Sasserine, far to the North across the sea. We have come aboard the sea vessal known as the Sea Wyvern, which shipwrecked after a storm. We now pass through on our way South.

"Our intent was to camp here, in these ruins, only for the evening. Despite my belief that they were already inhabited, I was overruled, and I apologize for the trespass."

GM

"Ախ Sasserine, humm ինչ ցամաքային այն է, որ?" She says, looking at the group paying much attention to Guard and karaklla

"Դուք չեք բոլորը մեկ բարի է, ու չեն նրանք, ովքեր բնակվել դեպի հարավ. Ասա ինձ այս Sasserine. Այս մարդը երկաթ, փայտ ու քար է, որը քայլում է ձեր հետ? Ես երբեք չեմ տեսել, նրա բարի ու չեն տեսել իր տեսակի մեջ երկար ժամանակ.' She beacons to yo sit

'Ես կցանկանայի լսել ձեր ճանապարհորդության, որ արդեն երկար ժամանակ է, քանի որ ես լսել եմ հողերի նկատմամբ ծովը"

The crew seems unsettled and grasp there weapons, unsettled by the woman speaking Languages they do not know.

Spoiler:
"Oh Sasserine, humm what kind of land is that?"

'You are not all of one kind, and are not of those who dwell to the south.Tell me of this Sasserine. Of this man of iron, wood and stone that walks with you? I have never seen his kind and have not seen her kind in a long time."

"I would like to hear of your travels, it has been long since I have heard of lands over the sea"

Daurros puts his palm up to the crew. "Hold, and sheathe your weapons. I do not believe she means us harm. Why don't you all go and set up camp. Please be respectful of the ruins, and try not to damage anything ... at least not any more than it already is. Toxim, Guard, perhaps you should stay; she seems very curious of Guard."

Sylvan

Spoiler:
"It sounds like you have many questions, queen Lathira. Toxim and I will be happy to answer them for as long as we can. I beg you be aware we will eventually need to sleep, of course."

Daurros will begin answering the woman's questions, hopefully with Toxim's help.

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

Toxim will answer questions and tell tales. He'll also ask about her people and their language, which seems to share roots with elven.

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

Finn helps the crew set up camp in a defensible spot, if possible.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

Once made aware of the old womans interest in his person, Guard looks at her, then bows courtly.
He steps a bit closer, asking "What would you like to know, Queen Lathira?"

Female Shifter Rogue 9

Karkalla remains with Toxim her curiosity having got the better of her.

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

Toxim will use his Everwand of Comprehend Languages on Guard and Karkalla so they can follow the conversation and, with translation, add to it as well.

GM

Assuming most folks that are interacting can understand now I'll not use spoilers here

She listens to Toxims tells and seems not to mind the others setting up camp with in ruins. When asked about the language she responds. "Oh that was the tongue of the Olman people who now dwell in the south. Once long ago they dwelled here as well. "

She does seem fascinated with both where you are from and Guard. "You are created yes? I have heard tells of such things and legends told in stone. How did you come to be? "

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

"I am a fabricated being, yes. Our race is called 'Warforged', hinting on our purpose when we were first created. If you would like to know details on the process involved, you would have to ask House Kaninth(sp?) though.
Still, as far as I know it, I am some degrees of special. Even after serious research I found no word of some person, being or entity to be able to shape incarnum like I am."
Guard answers to the Queen, a bit of proudness showing in his gestures.

Fighter Level 9

Sorry for the erratic posting, things are not getting easier on my time.

Ardanto spends more time amongst the crew than the Millennium Falcons, wanting to be close enough to aid them in danger and trusting that the others can handle them selves.

At the old woman he just mutters, "Nah, she is not my type," he is about to add more when she starts talking in a strange tongue, so he clamps his mouth shut and lets the others do the talking.

He makes himself useful and walks the perimeter of the camp, making sure he stays with in visual range of the party.

GM

"I see" she says " I thanks you for your tales. This homeland of yours seems full of wonder, I would very much Like to visit someday. as for your journey there is little I can do to aid you. You should know the way south is dangerous. There are unnatural things that lurk in the dark places, more so now then in the past. I know that four eyes has grazed upon you and their servants seek you out. You would do well to avoid Him. If you plan to head south, take the dark mountain path that travels under the peaks. It was build long ago by the ancients. But beware the hungry birds nest near here and they are fierce near their young. May you wander the web and find your way you home again"

She says, and then she starts to change, her body starts to thicken, her arms splits many times, her head deforms and her eyes split into many eyes. And in mere moments where she sat a very large spider crawls from the throne away from the group and into the ruins.

The crew who sees her are spooked by the sight and even more uneasy within the ruins then before.

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

"That.. that.. that.. was freaky." Toxim mutters. He goes to help set camp and get a restless night's rest.

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

I assume that one of the parties can give us a synopsis of what Spider-Woman said.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

"You can say that.
Did that conversation have any point at all?"
Guard asks no one in particular.
Once the camp is set up, he starts circling it in irregular patterns, staying just inside the light of the campfire as he moves about.

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

**Synopsis Given**

"The point, hopefully, is that now, they won't have us for dinner."

Female Shifter Rogue 9

"Aww she wasn't that bad." Karkalla comments doing her best to find a comfortable place to settle down for the night.

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

"As long as Guard can assure us that he detected no ill will from her, I won't worry too much about her. There are plenty of other more mundane monsters to be afraid of. But what did she mean by 'four eyes'? You didn't press her on that point?"

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

"No. When she changed into a huge arachnid and left, my assumption was that the discussion had ended, so I did not press her. You are free to go back and try to find her yourself, of course."

With that, Daurros finds a place to sleep. He once again does not offer to take a watch.

Female Shifter Rogue 9

"Bloody Khyber what crawled up his arse and died?" Karkalla asks out loud once she is fairly certain that Daurros is out of earshot.

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

Finn smiles crookedly. "I think he's just a pessimist. I can't blame him, after being attacked by giant spiders, pirates, bloodthirsty animals, undead horrors, basilisks, land goo, sea goo, seaweed, shapeshifting assassins, giant lizards and vampires. Not to mention being shipwrecked on this godsforsaken island. When I'm not cursing fate, I'm cursing Vanthus Vanderboren; he's to blame for at least half of it."

GM

The night goes by without much trouble, a few false alarms here and there, that folks with better eyesight see nothing or just spiders, big spider but ones that seem to give the camp a great berth.

Nothing approaches from beyond the ruins, mostly likely do to the spiders the size of small dogs living within. But pass the night does and a little past Dawn finds Lithira standing some distance from you camp, a fact that makes more then a few crew uneasy. She waves you forward with a "fallow me motion"

"Wat'ch be thinking th' spider witch be a wanting?" Lilith says coming near the group

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

"Toxim -- go find out what she has to stay. I'm staying here with the crew for now," Finn suggests, glancing protectively at Amella.

Female Shifter Rogue 9

Karkalla heads towards Lithira

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

Daurros sighs a bit, collects his gear, and goes towards Lithira.

Sylvan

Spoiler:
"Good morning, Lithira," he says, without much enthusiasm. "What can we do for you? I will certainly follow your lead."

Sense Motive on her 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

Toxim gathers his belongings, gives Lirith a kiss and goes off to see what Lithira wants.

"Greetings, Queen."

Fighter Level 9

"and you wanted me to charm her.." Ardanto mutters as the old crone turns into a monsterous spider.

.......

"four eyes watches us?" he muses, "so a guy with spectacles, doesn't sound so dangerous."

.......

In the morning Ardanto continues to keep him self busy, feeling more and more useless in the land of the dinosaurs and spider women and big flesh eating birds.....

GM

"Ողջունելով դուրս, հուսով եմ դուք կենդանիները առաջացրել դուք ոչ մի փորձանքի մեջ գիշեր. Եթե դուք ցանկանում են ճանապարհորդել նաեւ տակ անցուղի, գլուխը ներքեւ այս փողոցում.' She says pointing down a overgrown half buried section of the ruins

"Այն կարող է դժվար է տեսնել, բայց վերջում այդ փողոց, դու պիտի տեսնեն մոռացել հետք. Նայիր սուր եւ դուք կտեսնեք, մոռացված Մարկերներ. Նրանք նայում որպես գազանների կամ հին է, որ կառուցված ընդունումը."

With a nod and a showing gesture she says "Եթե դուք մնալ վրա հետք, ընդունումը կդնի պակաս, քան կես օր քայլել, շատ ավելի երկար, եթե դուք զարմանում են դուրս քաշել. Պակաս վտանգներից, ինչպես նաեւ, բայց նայում սոված թռչունների, նրանք, բույն, որ այնպես, ինչպես ես զգուշացրել եմ ձեզ.'

Sylvan

Spoiler:
"Greeting out , I hope you pets caused you no trouble in the night. If you wish to travel the under passage, head down this street. "

"It may be hard to see, but at the end of this street, you shall see a forgotten trail. Look sharp and you will see the forgotten markers. They look as beasts or the ancients that built the passage."

'If you stay upon the trail, the passage will lay less then a half day walk, much longer if you wonder off the trail. Less dangers as well, but do watch the hungry birds, they nest that way as I warned you."

Now that you know what to look for a DC 20 perception check can fallow the trail, and find the markers.

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

"Thank you, Queen, for your hospitality and your aid." Toxim bows. "Before leaving, I do have one request. The language you were speaking before, Olman, I believe you called it. I wish to learn it. Perhaps you know of someone who could teach it to me and, perhaps help to guide us along?"

Diplomacy 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

GM

Sylvan

Spoiler:
"The Olmen people mostly live upon the southern part of the island, Some still live in the north or the heart of the island. Those you wish to avoid."

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

"Thank you. If that is all, we have a long way to go and should be on our way."

Toxim will again take point, leading the group further south. He tells the others what she said (read the spoiler).
Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

Finn passes a DC 20 Perception check even on a 1, so it shouldn't be hard to follow the markers.

GM

Ok, moving along then

You take your leave of Lithira and her ruins, making your way into the jungle and the near invisible path Finn seemed to be able to fallow with no effort. The crew was glad to be away from the ruins, even if they kept weapons ready and seemed ready to fire at any movement as you moved though the jungle.

As the mountains grow closer the area seems to be more crossed with trails of all manor of beast. The signs of the large birds are easy for Finn to see as well, both tracks and feathers. You do recall Lithira telling you of a nest near the entrance.

Do you guys want to keep going or scout? A party as large as yours will alert anything even remotely close to the entry

Ranger 2/ Magus 7

I'd like to go ahead a bit and try to use Wild Empathy to 'secure passage' for the group. I'll still have them give as wide a berth as possible, but I'd prefer not to have to fight hordes of mama death birds if we don't have to.
A small group might be a good thing if anyone wants to come along. A single human might seem like a rather tasty snack rather than a viable emissary to them.

Female Shifter Rogue 9

Karkalla will follow Toxim.

Male Half-elf (abyssal bloodline) Sorcerer 1/Monk (weapon adept) 4/Abyssal Disciple 4

Finn will stay behind to protect the group, but he wishes the rest of the Falcons luck with the angry birds.

Warforged Fighter 2 / Incarnate 4 / Ironsoul Forgemaster 3

With his armor clanking the attention of pretty much everything, Guard stays with the Crew and Finn as well.

Fighter Level 9

Ardanto thinks of volunteering, but then clunks a few more steps in his armour and decides to stay with Finn and the crew.

Is there an armour penalty for heat? Seems there should be, but I don't remember if we are getting around it.

Male Human Wizard (Universal) 9

As Toxim and Karkalla start heading towards the birds, the fact that Daurros fell in a few paces behind almost escapes their notice. As they walk, he speaks quietly. "You realize these are stupid, yet likely very protective nasty birds, right? Is there a reason you want to make friends, instead of fried chicken?"

Daurros also pulls out his wand of mage armor and uses a charge on himself.
