I assumed the knowledge check would come once we go through the portal and see what kind of "happy" demons we're dealing with. They could just be happy farting unicorns for all we know.

Eventually you all decide to stop dithering and head through the elfgate.

The final stage in the race through the aiudara network is Tanglegate, a stone arch sitting on a small sliver of ground amid a stinking, seething bog of tainted water.

You look around at the Tanglebriar, which is a forrest with a definitely dark aura to it. There's lots of unpleasant aspects, like extra thorns and briars, and more fungus than you would expect.

As you stand around looking at the rather dismal scene, three elephant sized spider thingies come charging out of the bog towards you. (knowledge planes to identify)

So I think I only failed one more before those double 24s, so another -2 con damage? I guess I don't really know how this works.
If I take -2 con every roll until 2 consecutive saves, I will surely die.
