Looks like my question in the discussion thread may have gotten missed. It's alright, though, I can roll with this.
Jaq starts to move when the sudden swerving of the APC knocks her back into the bench she was sitting on beside Ariel. She hears the roar of a dragon and any thoughts of trying something stupid flee. Her arms wrap around the still recovering medic in a probably futile attempt to keep her from getting hurt.
"I really hope that dragon doesn't come after us," she says once things calm a bit.

Anya Cards, 2C and KD. Assuming you take the KD, you have free reign to shoot anyone with your Aim, no range penalty.
The sudden upheaval of rock and dirt causes everyone to have to readjust their positions so as to avoid running into flying stones and other materials from the camps. Burgurk is still getting used to his power.. Anya is able to fly above the mess though and sees the APC about to appear from behind an outcropping of rocks...

Got ya. Not going to do anything just yet, probably going to be a good little girl and do my best not to wind up dead.
Whatever temptation Jaq has for a breakout leaves with more than a little alacrity as she sees the three deadboys and one kinda nice guy still in the compartment with them. Even if she got to the panel, she was dead, and they'd shoot Ariel first just to make it sting some more. She eases up her grip on Ariel and is about to ask if the Federation of Magic is after them when all hell breaks loose and the rolling thunder of explosions rock the APC. Jaq hangs onto Ariel for both their lives as she hunkers down.
"Whoever they're after, they want them real bad,"Jaq observes as the cacophony dies down into the steady roar of the APC's power plant working overtime.

The attack on the APC causes its driver to overcompensate and run into a small dry ravine, coming to a halt. The soldiers start to immediately begin disembarking as its turrets turn to fire at the incoming threat. Seeing this happen, Private Casey tries to turn towards it to get close enough to let Shakti and Burgurk attempt a rescue. Instead, he careens into a storage tent and sends it flying, along with several canisters of equipment. Cursing, he attempts to get the Mountaineer moving again, but it has sputtered out.

"Anya - yes, the dragon is Shakti...or at least, a copy of her..."
DM ShadowBloodmoon
Yeah, I've messed with them a bit because I didn't want Burgurk and Shakti to be completely out of combat because of a bad roll on the driver's part. It didn't make sense to me in game. As for Shakti, Anya has it right. Her copy is technically a Summon, so it goes when she does.

Anya barrels forward towards the downed APC at full tilt, dodging fire from the troops coming out of it as Shakti and Burgurk attempt to get clear of the Mountaineer and race towards the APC as well. Burgurk runs into a crossfire and has to keep his head down while the two versions of Shakti keep the rest of the soldiers distracted.

2 day rule is that if we're waiting for a PC to post, and they haven't in two days, it's okay to bot them to keep the game going. IMHO, if a game doesn't use this, its not a question of if it will end soon, but how soon. This one time, in one of my favorite, favorite games I was in, we waited a whole week for a PC to post. He eventually did, but then he dropped anyway, and by then all momentum was lost and the game ended soon after. I'd rather the GM botted me doing a striptease on hot coals with live snakes then make everyone else wait three days for me. ^_^

When she sees two -not- CS trooper skeedaddle from the car while trying to be stealthy, she decides to secure the package.
A large, mirror-shiny power armor drops from the sky in front of Jaq Ariel. The helmet retracts to reveal a cute girl with two-tone hair and shiny, shiny cyber-eyes.
"Hoi chummers. I'm Wraith. We're kinda here to rescue you. If you'll be so kind as to give me a tight hug, I'll fly you out of here while the dragon eats everything else alive.

That said, I'll wait just a bit for Shakti before firing..
Anya swoops down under fire to collect Ariel and Jaq. As she flies away, Jaq notices one of the CS soldiers look her way and shake his head. Though mostly occupied with the dragon, some of the CS troops keep Burgurk pinned near a supply tent, laser fire not letting him get a moment to breathe.

Jaq is tempted to give the soldier a salute, but only until the buffeting winds remind that loosening her grip would be ill advised. She settled for howling with laughter now that she and Ariel are free.
"Not that I'm ungrateful, but can you take us somewhere that has milkshakes and cabana boys and girls," She asks Anya before grinning like a maniac.
"Jaq! You're forgetting that we need some bikinis first," Ariel laughs from Anya's other side.

The dragon grabs hold of the transport with her massive jaws, and thrashing her neck back and forth like a wild beast, manages to rip the vehicle in half sending fragments flying, and a full half of the vehicle tumbling end over end.
A Coalition Mark V APC has a Toughness of 32(17)
Next Round
The Dragon lifts off, leaving the soldiers cowering in their camp, and heads for the second APC (the one that was carrying Jaq).

Not to rain on that amazing visual parade, but there is only 1 APC, the one that Jaq and Ariel were in. The only other vehicle so far is the Mountaineer you came in. Also, what is the original Shakti doing at this point? Oh and yes, Benny for the full round.

Pushing forward to keep us going. I'll let Shakti retcon an action for Original Shakti later, if needed.
Garrison Shooting x3: 1d6 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 2 - 4 = 0
The dragon roars down and tears into the APC, sending the troops near it running for their lives. The ones in the Garrison take cover, a few firing potshots at Burgurk, but none can find their mark. Too bad to hear there was not another transport; can't recall if I thought I had read there was another, or if I just assumed, as I didn't think they'd have just been dropped off in the middle of nowhere.
Given that there was no APC in the camp, the dragon will have attacked a building, if they erected one, or ripped apart their entrenchment/shelter/camp or whathaveyou.
Shakti continues her concentration, keeping the dragon around a bit longer than her initial summons might have otherwise lasted. (Duration was 3 rounds, which are now expired. She can keep it around for 1 PPE per round, but she'll likey only hold it a few more rounds as to not drain all her points.
"I can only keep the dragon around a short while longer; please get as much distance from the encampment as you can in the meantime."
The dragon continues to cause mayhem among the survivors, killing any that escaped the APC. Once all of them are dealt with or gone to ground, she'll head back to the encampment in order to keep cleaning up there, and maybe eating a few of them just for fun.

Garrison Troops- Routing
The few troops that are left from the APC seem to be being led by a competent commander. They run behind some of the APC's wreckage and take cover before anyone can get to them. The troops from the garrison are disorganized and running for the hills at this point, trying to get away from the dragon now that most of their number has been either crushed or burned.
Anya, busy watching the carnage behind her, looks away from her scanners for just a moment and is nearly knocked out of the sky as two CS Sky Cycles fly right past her firing their lasers. One hits and send her into a spin. Ariel and Jaq hang on for dear life as Anya fights to maintain control.
Shakti fights to keep control of her magic as it starts to fade from existence. If the dragon leaves, the troops might rally and return to the fight.
Burgurk looks around as some of the laser fire dies down, and sees a piece of storage wall come flying in his direction, tossed by the dragon.
Private Casey comes over the comms, "I think I've got the Mountaineer running, but we need to get out of here!"
Anya, that's two wounds and shaken by my calculation. On top of that, you have a two maneuvering rolls to make. The first normal and the second at -2 because of the wounds. Then after all that, you can try to recover, depending on the rolls.
Shakti and Burgurk are also up. Burgurk you will need to make an Agility roll at -2 or take a Fatigue level from Bumps and Bruises.

Whoa! Good roll! o.O Okay, wait, quick question before I roll. Are you saying I have to make a piloting roll with wound penalties before I roll to soak the wounds? I admit I've never been in this situation before, but it seems that the Soak roll has always happened before anything else. Does a rule state this more clearly or something on the internet...?
DM ShadowBloodmoon
Let's see.. these are technically chase rules, so the distances are a little more abstract, so having drawn a 4, that puts Burgurk at a -4 to any ranged things, but that could also just mean there is cover, light penalties, etc. Otherwise as far as the range of Burgurk's psionics, he can reach the Garrison troops.
If Anya spends a Benny to soak, then yes, the penalty to the second Agility roll would not apply as the Soak would be first. As far as Jaq helping, she can go on Anya's turn and can try about anything to try and help, what did you have in mind?

The second one was just for initiative, yeah? Also, Jaq, if you could CAST a power like DEFLECTION on someone that doesn't want to get hit anymore...that might be helpful. =)
Burgurk
DB SBM, I'm just trying to learn the rules here - why did Anya have to make 2 "maneuvering" rolls? If the first one was to avoid going Out-of-Control, she Soaked all her Wounds, so she wouldn't have to make that, and she would have spent her Bennies to Succeed at the second (initiative?) roll.
Feeling a surge of power from Shakti's spell, Burgurk tries again to raise the dust and dirt around the Coalition troops :
Psionics,+4 dice,-4 Chase: 1d12 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 4 = 91d6 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 - 4 = 4= Raise so they're at -4 to Shooting, Agility, etc.

Burgurk Complication Agility: 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 11d6 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3
She drew a Club, which is a Complication. She had to avoid an obstacle, which in story was the two SkyCycles flying right past her before they turned and fired on her. Burgurk, you still need to make your roll for that too so as to avoid a Fatigue Level due to Bumps and Bruises since you also drew a Club, unless you want to take what I rolled for you, which gets you that Fatigue level. Anya's second roll was to retain control after that hit, but since she Soaked it, it is irrelevant. You guys do need to roll for the next round though. If Anya wants to keep what she has for initiative, that's fine. Even if she doesn't get a card next round, I'll let Jaq put up Deflection as part of this current round.
The ground starts to shake and rattle as Burgurk focuses his mind on lifting it into the air and tossing it around. A small whirlwind of debris and dirt starts flying into the remaining troops from the garrison, sending them scattering for what little cover is left.
Everyone make your next round Maneuver rolls!
