@Remember: Nice, but hopefully not necessary, if the situation comes up, I'll remember and bring it up, then you will remember that there "was something"...and I am not always at the right place at the right time by chance ;)

@Spellcopy: Remember you only need one copy :P You can copy from each other then.

@Set up the bomb: So, you want to copy explosive runes do you...for great justice!

They can. Yellowknife wouldn't know the difference, or mind it much. If they pay for two copyings, then they can work in parallel and save an hour. Granted that's a pretty trifling advantage.

Aye, it's already a very fair price. But they would probably do better getting copys of 2 different spells, working parallel, then spending another hour to copy those from each other - spend the same amount of money and double the time, and get double the spells. Seems a smart way to handle it to me.
*shrug*

Me and Lu, them spells simply pop up in our mind. If I survive sufficiently long, some day, I will wake up and feel ready to perform miracles or bring dead people back to life, proper.
So I'm probably not the best guy to give advice on spell copying :)

Just call yourself an Independent Worker of Art and it's all fine. It's only when people start pretending they have degrees from wizarding school that the hit wizards get sent out.

Well, I'm just a fortune teller who happens to have a little bit of real magic. XD Definitely not planning to fake any magical degrees.

I'm leaning towards the return, report and resupply. Even if Lu can climb up there she can't really do much more seeing as we didn't think to bring some rope :P

Also I believe there is this other group we have to annoy and display our superiority to? It might be unwise to be too exhausted as we leave if they decide they don't want to play fair ...

Hu? Who said we don't have rope? It's in most kits, including the one I purchased. We have rope. What we don't have is a clue!
*smiles*
I am fine with returning and resupplying if we realize we need something specific(e.g. to deal with further swarms down at green)...but I would prefer verifying what problem we face before doing so.

Say there's some other obstacle up there after climbing that needs us to bridge a gap...we'd need to head back again to pick up more stuff for that.

Hey, I resemble that remark!, as my father used to say. And even the best of us fail Spellcraft and Perception checks sometimes, and if it really doesn't look dangerous, are you saying you wouldn't give a potentially interesting rune a poke? :)

Anyway, I'm fine with trying to explore the blue alcove first before heading out to regroup, but somebody other than a Str 10 wizard should probably try the climb first. Seriously, did any of you folks ever actually manage to climb those stupid ropes in gym class? I never did. *Glowers balefully at her gym teacher.*

Sorry for the silence - this weekend turned out much more draining then anticipated! I still have some stuff to catch up on but I should be able to be a productive poster soonish.

Cheers! //Lessah

FYI: While I expected to be able to post during the combined work/private trip over the weekend, life had different plans. I'll be attending a funeral tomorrow and it's kept me busy the past 2 days, too.

I will try and post again as soon as possible, please do bot as needed.

@Janus - my condolences :(

@Climb - mostly thinking of simply trying to reach the top and then take a brief look around. Maybe that'll give us an idea of what we need to prep for?

Then I'm perfectly fine to head "home".

Works for me. XD Saeri is very squishy, and will happily go for minimal-risk stuff.

Thank you.

@Climb: Aye, such was the idea. I just think it would suck if we're not taking a look now, then realize we need another trip home because we did not bring something needed.

Also@going back: I still think the lanterns may be involved, be some code or something...they WERE arranged like in the fresco, right?

If we leave, I say we take them with us. While such old things may fetch a nice price, too, I'm afraid we still need them...but that also means the other group would need them to progress further, IF they find the place...at least I hope so.

Yeah taking the lanterns seems smart. Combined with the sketch maybe even our patron can tell us something more about them?

Sorta. Here's the original fresco post, for reference. And the present status of the lanterns in the tunnels.

Thank you. I know we are still lacking some, but it's like, same order of colors, I just cross-checked. There's certainly something there. Maybe the death elevator becomes operational once we gather all the lanterns.
Only red missing, maybe down at Green, or up at Blue.
Either way, I would not risk leaving them here and Mr. Stallion and his stablehands stumbling in and solving it in our absence. :)

Did you want to do something to sanitized the site before reporting back to Yellowknife as discussed?

Also, what's the agenda for reporting back to Yellowknife? Shopping? Spell copying? Assassinating those Waterdhavians?

Reporting our findings so far. Maybe those names will ring a bell? Also getting some more stuff and resting. We have done quite well for one day I say :)

I *think* grabbing the lanterns will sufficiently stop our competitors. Also maybe leave a message or something. Then we'll see if they honour our agreement or not I guess ...

Works for me. XD Saeri isn't the terribly hostile type anyway - and doesn't need to go shopping or learning new spells. Not right now, at least.

Hm. Still got plenty of juice, BUT we need area-effect stuff against swarms - MAYBE acid, but they were acidic, so we may need to go for alchemists fire.
We also need more ropes and other climbing equipment.

IF we spend the night for our prepared casters to swap out their tools, then we may as well get them a new spell or two...considering we have the time anyway.

I mean we could just throw some blankets over our new stuff or something. It's a few hours after sundown so people won't be getting any too good looks at our stuff.

And anyhow - buying climbing gear and that sort of stuff also sorta signals that we found something. Not to mention that smug look on Lu's face if we were to come across our rivals ...

You could do something like hire a street urchin to straw purchase the gear for you, but this is true.

Mainly I want to give the chance to try being sneaky if you like.

Hello, everyone,

I'm just popping in to say that all this week is going to be supremely busy for me with the very end of term and starting to get ready for the beginning of conference season, so while I'll try to check in as often as I can, feel free to bot Chaïa if it looks like things will slow down too much otherwise.

I can get a money related post up soon-ish. Lu has no qualms about squeezing people for money : )

Gay Male Inhuman

So loot management. Most of my games just don't do it. I stipulate to PCs having their WBL on hand and periodic opportunities to reallocate it and we move on. (I call this Virtual Gearing.) To get a more old school feel, I opted otherwise for Age of Worms and have been giving out loot semiregularly.

Naturally, I have not kept track. Once I give stuff out, it's not my problem anymore. :) But by the same token, it's no fun to lose stuff because someone forgot or find yourself scraping by to get vital upgrades. Tracking things more closely fixes that, but then we have the collective action problem of who wants to do it. I'm not comfortable with deciding who gets what when things are divvied up because, hey, GM. But here's some infrastructure that may be helpful if someone wants to do the accounting. The math is automated, except for PCs claiming things and selling stuff for cash.

Alternatively, if you'd rather not deal with loot accountancy of any kind, we can switch to what most of my other games do and switch to your just having your WBL (well, half normal since we're using automatic bonus progression) available to allocate each level and then restrict loot stuff to plot-relevant items. Refreshes of consumables and reallocation can take place whenever you're in a settlement and have time to shop.

Female Human Magus 3 / Witch 3 | HP: 25/25 | AC: 16 [20]; T: 16; FF: 10 | Fort: +4, Ref: +5, Will: +4 | CMB: +3, CMD: 19 | Init: +5, Perception: +3

I do try to keep track of my own stuff, at least. XD

Female Elf Wizard (primalist) and Spellscar Oracle 3 (Gestalt) HP 30/30 | AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | CMD 14 | F +3 R +5 W +3 | Init +3| Perc +1

Thanks for the sheet, GM. I don’t mind mucking about with imaginary numbers, but a chart does make it easier to keep track of things.

On the other hand, unless people really feel like playing out haggling, I didn’t want to clutter up the gameplay thread. I added the “sordid” bit because, since she grew up in the sheltered life of Evereska, Chaïa’s a spoiled brat trust fund baby precious innocent child who’s not really got into the habit of worrying about money yet. :)

For now, does anyone have any objections to just trading in the statuettes, and we can sort out the rest at our leisure? That gives us each 150 gp to hit the town with, I think, and Chaïa will just start throwing part of her share around to collect spells, because that’s what wizards do!

Female Human Magus 3 / Witch 3 | HP: 25/25 | AC: 16 [20]; T: 16; FF: 10 | Fort: +4, Ref: +5, Will: +4 | CMB: +3, CMD: 19 | Init: +5, Perception: +3

No objections here. o wo/

I'm good with that :)

(Turns out me the player was less proficient at money squeezing then Lu the character -,-)

Hum, I'm fine with any form of loot management. There's one game I play in that uses WBL-reallocation(courtesy of being members of the guard with provided equipment...incidentally also the reason we don't get to loot stuff) and it works splendidly - so kudos on normally running things that way.

That said, I'm fine with whatever the group decides is the way we want to handle things here. I do prefer minimum extra bookkeeping, though - so let me say thanks to whoever does do the tracking :)

@GM - Could you place a link to the loot sheet next to the maps? That way we can find it so much easier : )

@Loot - I marked the statues as sold.

Lu will spend her 150gp as follows:

Crowbar 2gp
Hammer 0.5 gp
Pitons x5 1 gp
Alchemist's Fire 20gp
Acid x2 20gp
Scroll of Magical Weapon 25gp
Scroll of Cure Light Wounds 25gp
Scroll of Remove Fear 25gp
Scroll of Monkey Fish 25gp

And then 6.5 gp in loose change.

@Chaia - Would you mind holding on to the Monkey Fish and Magical Weapon scrolls for now? The former if is for if we need to get someplace annoying and the later is if we find something spooky that needs magical weaponry!

In exchange you can write them into your spellbook later once we don't need to carry them around anymore! (Once we get some fancy magical swords!) Though they might not be super useful by then ...

Status: 2 Dex Damage;| *See Defensive Parry and shenanigans Hp 36/36 | AC 19*/13*/16 | CMD 19 | Fort +4 Ref +5 Will +3 | Init +2 | Perception +6 (+8 & +11 /w Arun)

Assuming of course that buying those four scrolls are possible? I'm thinking the wizard may have access to most and then maybe the temple. Arcane versions though might be a bit tricksy ...

Gay Male Inhuman

The link's all set and the scrolls are available in town.

Just how electric are we talking? Interesting twitches in one's muscles if one grabs onto it, proper spasms, or "Oh, dear goddess, what were you thinking?" :) I, um, have definitely never had any accidents while doing some renovations. Nope. Definitely never.

So, if you wear rubber boots while peeing on an electrified fence...

anyway: Once again, plans in real-life simply don't work out.
I was to attend a training workshop most of this week, and expected to have plenty of time to post during the nights at the hotel, so was a bit lazy last weekend and spend time preparing for the trip.

Little did I know that we only met up at the hotel, then moved by bus to a cabin in the mountains for teambuilding purposes. No phone, no Wi-Fi, and even if we had, no time to post.
It was a very interesting experience, but yeah, sorry for going MIA/AWOL, I'm back and will make sure to catch up on all my games and post ASAP.

Ha! I'm travelling to a conference myself this week (in exotic St. John's, Newfoundland), but fortunately it won't be back to the '80s, as far as I know. It does mean sporadic access to WiFi, but I should be able to post late in the evenings this week until I get back home. If things are lagging because of that, feel free to play little voodoo dolly with Chaïa.

So, little Chaia, take the empowered voodoo dolly of a Samnell and show the uncle doctor where the GM touched you.

@Kidnapping: I was able to survive playing Nirvana Songs on an Acoustic Guitar at the campfire, until the Time Machine came back.
That, and I got a load of Psilocybin Mushrooms who grew on Cow Dung like crazy on a field near our hut.

I'm not sure how a voodoo doll of me is ideal for that purpose, unless Chaia wishes to document where I might have touched myself. Should that be the case, we should probably adjourn for a bathroom break and plan regular intermissions for such necessities as sleep, eating, and reverse eating.

Aye, my mistake.

Little Chaia, take the empowered voodoo dolly of Samnell and show the good priest where the GM made you touch him.

Better?
