11 Mites: The mites begin to start making a small chorus of Undercommon. What they're singing is a mystery, but it can't be good. Mite1 and Mite5's eeyes even shoot open as they stare at Oomlowt and Gird respectively. The sight (heh) is hideously repulsive; mite eyes were never ment to be seen bulging like that, omigod so gross. Then the little, blue faeries descend upon you with knives drawn again, and again, Mite4 is the only one that manages to get past armor, its dagger sinking into Gird yet again, dealing 2 more points of damage!
9 Garhan: Your face red with a mixture of rage and embarrassment, you manage to drive your knife straight through the top of the mite's skull, causing the creature's black blood to spurt and cover the bottom of your hand. It is surprisingly cool, but maybe that's just because you are so warm.
7 Woden: Seeing the mite you were aiming for go down, you try to readjust your aim, but unfortunately your attempt to swing around in the cramped quarters makes your arrow sail over your new target's head. Dernit.
6 Gird: Can these little cretins please STOP FINDING THE CHINKS IN YOUR ARMOR. You feel like some sort of pin cushion. The meatshield should not feel like a pin cushion.
And like Woden, your initial target is slain before you can do much, causing you to to have to swing around at the Mite with its eyes bulging at you. You snarl and thrust your sword at it, to little effect, though.
5 Oomlowt: Oh Hells, that thing's eyes, they're so, oh Hells. You are overcome with an irrational feeling of dread, and it causes you are now shaken. Nevertheless, you manage to reload your crossbow through your paranoia and send a bolt straight through the grotesque faerie's closing eye, with the bolt barely sticking out the creature's skull, black blood oozing all over the floor, the mite's limbs still twitching.
You have never seen anything more terrifying in your entire life.
4 Huey: It sounds like they're winning down there, and you shout some words of encouragement. You see that Garhan has moved, and so you could feasibly get down there, but you're already plenty comfortable.
They've got this in the bag, it's fine.
Oomlowt Schwaa
"Eeeuuuugh!" Oomlowt squealed in terror in revulsion. Then he fired another shot at the closest remaining mite, because if there's one thing that comforts a terrified kobold, it's murder.

Mite3 Climb Check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Mite5 Climb Check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
11 Mites: The mites all screech with fear, their allies' oozing corpses giving them more than enough incentive to run. However, as they turn to scamper away, Gird deftly swings her sword and plunges it straight through the back of of Mite4's head and out its misshapen face. The creature goes limp on the end of the blade. The other mites squeal and use this as an excellent distraction to scamper into the gloom. What you don't see yet is this:
A deep and ominous chasm splits the passage. The chasm is a few yards wide, and twice as deep, but thick ropes of tangled roots fill the entire area. The passage continues on the far side of the chasm, and between the two ledges, numerous loops have been tied into the roots to serve as hand- and footholds. The fleeing mites are swinging deftly across these knots even as you come across the chasm, quickly reaching the other side.
I'll let you know when you can see this by putting "You can see it" during your turn.
9 Garhan: You can see it You rush after the mites, swinging your dagger violently, only to find the Mites well beyond your reach already. Looks like there's some more climbing to do...
7 Woden: You can see it... barely You also take up pursuit, knocking back an arrow and letting it sail past Garhan and into the shoulder of a fleeing mite, although you're not sure how much damage you did as the creature scampers off into the gloom. Huey needs to get down here with the damn light!
6 Gird: You can see it After shaking your sword a few times in attempt to get the mite off of it, you run down to meet its fleeing comrades as well, only to find them running off into the darkness on the other side of the chasm. One has an arrow sticking out of its shoulder, but the other is unharmed. You curse, a lot.
5 Oomlowt: You can see it You are likewise disappointed by your inability to do any damage to the mites, but at least you can see them off in the distance. You reload your crossbow in preparation of dealing some damage.
Wait, was that a faint call for help?
4 Huey: Why is everyone running away all of a sudden? You decide that maybe you should finally jump down, and so you let yourself slide five feet to the tunnel-floor. Calanthe follows. You take in the surrounding carnage, made all the more terrible by the light of your lantern, and say, "Huh."

Oomlowt, being at once too shaken with fear to want to continue his attack and curious at the sound, looks to the kobold strung up on the wall. Was it still alive?

Garhan lets out a dissappointed grunt as the Mites keep on running away from his reach!
Garhan is eager to chase after the mites, but Gird just asked him to heal her... And it is not in this young tiefling's nature to not help friends in need. So healing Gird takes priority over chasing after the mites.

Though she can feel her wounds mending, Gird didn't stop her swearing storm. If she were in a better mood, she might have ruffled Garhan's hair, or some other sort of gesture of equal camaraderie. As it were, Gird just kept cursing.
After a few more moments of choice and delightful insults, Gird cautiously approaches the edge of the chasm, looking a little apprehensively at the ropes. Cautiously, Gird puts some (but not enough to fall!) of her weight on the bridge. She would definitely feel safe crossing that.
Gird goes back to Garhan, who is looking sad as he stared across the bridge.
"Hey, Goat Boy, how many more times can you heal us, anyway? Don't you wizard-y types have a limited amount of spells or something?" Gird isn't really sure why she's asking; there's not way that she would survive the fall. Gird sheathes her sword, but goes to pull out her bow. Maybe the f*cking mites have bows too?
Gird Krellion
Seeing that Oomlowt has hung back, Gird calls over her shoulder to the kobold, "Hey, Omelet, what's holding you?" Not bothering to look over her shoulder, Gird focused on the far side of the chasm, seeing if she could make out any of the stupid mites.

Mikmek Initiative Roll: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
11 Mites: The mites have vanished into the gloom, and it is impossible to see what they are doing. Gross, mite-y things most likely.
9 Garhan: You heal Gird, figuring that she could use a little pick-me-up after all those stabby, little mites. Gosh, you wish you could stop them!
8 Mikmek: The Kobold groans and seems to look around at the carnage with a sort of grim satisfaction. It probably did not like those mites at all.
7 Woden: You feel bad for monopolizing Garhan's healing energy, who knows how much he has left, and make it your goal to do better next time. You hurry over to the chasm, hoping that Huey follows.
6 Gird: Screw that bridge. Half-Orcs are made for brawling, not for swinging! So instead you decide to inquire about how much more juice Garhan has in him.
The answer is a disheartening.
5 Oomlowt: Being a little too freaked out to continue pursuing mites, you decide to look at the Kobold on the wall, who is still alive! Its sooty scales are slick with blood, but it is still alive! You attempt to start conversation, whilst letting your fellows know just what the heck you're doing.
Please don't let it be another killbilly.
4 Huey: You amble over to the rest of the group, and spot the chasm. "Huh. Now, that's a hole."

ROUND 6
11 Mites: Those mites haven't come back yet... what are they doing? Probably nothing good.
9 Garhan: With everyone else seemingly intimidated by the bridge, you decide to go and at least help out the kobold strung up on the wall. You touch his bloody cheek, and let your power sooth his wounds. You attempt to offer him some soothing words, but you can't remember if you used Draconic or Taldan.
8 Mikmek: "I'm still alive, and feeling much better now," the Kobold replies. "The rest of the war party wasn't nearly as lucky, though." He coughs a bit, before realizing that you are another Kobold. "W-are you here to rescue the statue, too?" He starts to experimentally test his legs and tail, but it seems that the blood covering his body is just left over from his previous wounds, and not actually a measure of his injuries.
7 Woden: You wonder whether or not the Kobold will survive, he does look pretty banged up.
6 Gird: You are not especially sure about those knotted hand-holds made of vines, so you turn to the rest of the group to see what they think.
You really hope they don't decide to brave the bridge.
5 Oomlowt: You are a little upset that there isn't nay on hand healing magics to help your fellow kobold, but you try to assure the broken warrior that you will get the statue for the tribe. You even suggest he could escape.
4 Huey: Huey looks at the flimsy bridge of knotted vines, actually... calling a bridge is giving it too much credit. It's like some sort of torturous set of monkey bars, whatever monkey bars are. "Do we really have to go over that?" He extends his lantern hand out as far as it will go, trying to see the bottom.
Oh, that doesn't look nearly as bad as everyone's making it out to be, although, those knots still look too flimsy.
Who even cares about kobolds.
Garhan Ghaidos
This time Garhan makes sure he speaks Draconic. Because hey, it'd be silly to... Not speak Draconic. Maybe he was just talking to himself earlier?
"Sorry, that's all I can heal you for now..."
Garhan gets up and seems to ponder if it would be a good or a bad idea to follow the mites over that... Bridge thing.

Since everyone seems too busy to pay attention to her, Gird huffs and sits down. Fine, then, ignore me. ROUND 7
11 Mites: Seriously, are these things even still a part of combat? What is up here.
9 Garhan: You confess to the Kobold that you cannot heal it any more today, before wondering how to deal with the bridge...
8 Mikmek: Mikmek looks at Oomlowt a moment, barely acknowledging Garhan anymore, and starts to plead, "I don't want to run, I want to fight! Those nasty, stupid mites nearly killed me, and took our statue! And if we don't get it back soon, we are all going to turn yellow and die! I don't want to die, or be yellow!" He stops a moment before looking at the vines holding him to wall, before continuing, "Uh, you think you could cute me down and give me something to fight with?"
7 Woden: You decide that the kobold is going to be alright, and move over to gird who looks a little sullen, you attempt to strike up conversation.
6 Gird: Fine, if they don't want to pay attention to you, and instead coddle a tiny lizardman, that's fine! You can just sit here and wait for them. You've got time.
And if any of the mites decide to come back across the bridge, you don't have to tell them. See how that stings.
What the crap is Pretty Boy doing over here?
5 Oomlowt: You take out the fancy, beautiful, dagger and slash at the vines cutting your bloodied kin free! Mikmek falls to the ground rubbing his wrists before showering you with a chorus of pleading thanks.
4 Huey: You decide to sit down with Gird, and relax on the wall. It's nice to just sit down, it really makes the cramped tunnels so much better. You set the lantern down next to you and prop your head on your hands.
aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh, that's the stuff.
Gird Krellion
Gird looks over at Woden. She's still pissed about the buns comment, but the dude did just almost fall to his death. Deciding she can be petty and vindictive another day, Gird just sighs. "Gotta be honest, I am NOT looking forward to crossing that bridge-y...thing. In fact, I doubt wild horses could drag me across it." Gird then directs her comments at Huey. "So, uh, Shiny Guy, how're you liking adventuring so far?"
Oomlowt Schwaa
Oomlowt looked long and hard at his knife - his special knife. There's no other like it. Yes, he decided that fact was for sure true. This was a one of a kind knife. It was also his only secondary weapon. But...
Well, he was more of a crossbow kind of guy anyway.
Garhan Ghaidos
Seeing that Mikmek isn't really interested in him anymore, Garhan wanders over to the taller humanoids' side of the... Room? Room is still a correct word inside a cave, right? Or is this... A tunnel? Hmm. Now that's something to think about.
"I'm not really sure about that bridge either... It looks pretty horrible. Do you think it'll even support us? We're a lot bigger than heavier than those mites..."
Calanthe lets out a dissapproving sound.
She might've been graceful in climbing down a wall, but something like an "unsupporting bridge" doesn't really sound like anything a goat will be capable of doing.
"Ah, right... I don't think Calanthe will make be able to climb it at all."
Garhan concludes.

ROUND 8
11 Mites: Does this even count as combat anymore? Seriously all that's happening is talking. ohohohohohohohoho no! :D
9 Garhan: You decide to lend your own two cents on the subject of the bridge, and you don't trust it, especially since Calanthe probably wouldn't be able to follow without, like, being carried or something.
And for some reason, Gird doesn't look like she's up for carrying your pissy goat around.
8 Mikmek: Mikmek is testing his limbs with his newly freed hands, and making sure he is just generally all right.
7 Woden: Nobody likes your opinions because you use the power of logic, and that upsets their nice little world where they don't have to cross flimsy bridge-things.
6 Gird: You respond to Pretty Boy by explaining just how hard it is going to be to force you across. That'll teach him to use his brain!
You then decide to ignore the elf and turn your attention towards the human, he's pretty quiet.
5 Oomlowt: You're torn, but as Mikmek tests his limbs, you finally make a decision. You've had this dagger a long time, but your desire to help these killbillies overpowers your nostalgia, and you offer it to Mikmek.
Besides, you get to keep your fancy ornate dagger/short sword.
4 Huey: Huey turns to Gird and gives her the shortest response he can, "It's too much work."
Being a hermit is so much easier.
Oomlowt Schwaa
Oomlowt peered across the bridge. He could no longer see the mites. He then looked at the tangle of vines. They were supposed to cross this?
"Well," he said, "I guess we should make a go of it then?" He waited to see if his allies approved, as he'd rather face the wrath of Lamashtu than take the first step.

9 Garhan: You suggest trying to make the bridge safer, although you're not sure exactly how to do it.
8 Mikmek: Mikmek shrieks with delight at being given a weapon, and gathers you up in a ancient Kobold ritual of trust known as hugging, before breaking away, "I will do my best to help you guys, for the Sootscales and for the statue god!"
7 Woden: You tell Oomlowt to be careful because who knows what that other Kobold might do.
6 Gird: You then suggest that you guys send the Kobold across first. As everyone looks at Oomlowt, you quickly add that you meant the other one, Mukmuk or whatever its name is.
5 Oomlowt: You really hope the hug didn't put off your new friends, you're pretty sure mammals don't have hugs, and they might not understand.
You nervously give words of encouragement to your teammates, maybe they'll forget the hug that way and stop staring at you.
On the plus side, you are no longer shaken!
4 Huey: What a bunch of dorks, you're not movin' till they make you.
Garhan Ghaidos
Garhan eyes the kobolds hugging.
By Erastil, kobolds are so cute!
The tiefling briefly shakes his head to get these thoughts out of his system. This is too serious of a situation to think about stuff like that..!
Garhan clears his throat.
"But our new friend is still weak from all the horrible things those mites did to him! We can't risk him falling..!"
Garhan looks at the bridge again. It still doesn't look nice.
He sighs and tries to think of positive thoughts. Remember how well you climbed down that wall, Garhan? yeah, that's the spirit!

7 Woden: You hang back, furtively thinking about all the horrible ways this could go wrong...
6 Gird: As you see Garhan move across you study the vines, and it looks like they can hold your weight! Oh man, that's pretty relieving. You were worried that they might be dangerous there for a second.
5 Oomlowt: You move over to the ledge to see if you can follow Garhan over, it looks like you can - but why does Garhan look so worried? You might have to hurry!

"Rows of wooden pegs line the earthen walls, some hung with tiny, filthy cloaks. In the center of the room stands a rickety table held together with twine, covered with a filthy redchecked tablecloth and heaped with mounds of dirt and twigs and gravel, apparently arranged to form some sort of map. Sitting at the edge of the map, weighing down a scrap of paper, is a bloodstained ivory statuette of what looks like a crouching reptilian devil. A bulging burlap sack sits under the table."
Fidgeting around this war-table are five mites, all of them grinning evilly with their watery, squinting eyes glittering in the darkness. A sixth Mite stands out among the rest as it is astride a large, bloated tick easily the size of a man. it cackles and commands its fellows to do something in Undercommon.
Then they begin to close in.
20 Tickleback: The giant tick clicks a few times before scuttling foward as much as it can, screeching in a buggish way at the Tiefling standing in front of it.
18 Giant Whiptail Centipede: But that's not all you have to worry about! With the sound of clacking mandibles and chitin scraping on chitin, a gigantic centipede uncoils itself from the far northern corner of the pit, and it begins to scuttle across the bottom towards you, although at a strained pace, as it has to squeeze it's large body through many ropey vines and thick roots. It stops somewhere below you and begins to slowly ascend towards the bridge.
11 Mites: The mites are quickly closing in on Garhan, and as the first two reach him, they slash with their tiny daggers, but thankfully he manages to duck out of the way. This is gonna get real ugly, real fast.
9 Garhan: You urgently beg your friends to come to your aid (they are your friends, right?), before bravely pulling out your dagger and taking a swipe at the nearest mite you can!
Unfortunately, though the blade strikes the fey in the forehead, it doesn't even leave a scratch on the warty creature's face.
8 Mikmek: Your rescued Kobold takes a leap of faith, screaming about how he will make the nasty mites pay when he misses the ropes in front of him and plummets onto the centipede's head before rolling off and into the vines below. He looks shocked and more than a little terrified, and who knows where the knife is now, but he doesn't look terribly hurt, just a little banged up. The centipede looks like it doesn't know what to do.
7 Woden: You swing after Garhan, making it to the otherside as quickly as you can, and in an impressive feat of acrobatics, you manage to swing across without touching more than two knots. You ready your weapon as you make it to the other side, although it's gonna be really hard to maneuver in these cramped quarters...
You and Garhan are squeezed, and take a -4 penalty to your AC and Attack in addition to any other penalties you may suffer due to the tunnel's size and shape.rolls until you manage to move into an area that can properly fit you.
6 Gird: You are completely dumbfounded by what has transpired, and can barely process what is happening.
In less than six seconds, everything has gone to Hells.
5 Oomlowt: Your chest swelling with proper Kobold wrath, you too start to move across the vines, but as you swing from knot-to-knot, one of the knots breaks away as you grab it. It's a trap!
In your next Round start by rolling a Reflex Save. The DC is 12. If you succeed, you managed to clamber across this Round, and are squeezed along with Woden and garhan. If you fail, you fall into the pit with Mikmek, and take 2d6 points of fall damage. This reflex save determines what you do next round, so it's kind of really important.
4 Grabbles: The mite on top of the tick cackles at the pure chaos unfolding before him. These pathetic big-people will stand no chance against his tribe and their verminous pets! Nonetheless, he readies his small, shabby trident.
4 Huey: Now that... doesn't look good. You get up, dust off, set down your lantern, and ready your halberd.
It's business time, and you're ready to help the customers.
