Harec
|
Not being much of a warrior or scout..Harec waits patiently for the more combat experienced team members to take the lead. He falls in behind the Vesk when the Vesk moves in past the airlock in to the foreign ship.
Viper 6
|
"Either there was a terrible industrial accident, or things are worse than we thought" Viper draws her other pistol as well. She then moves forward to investigate, eyeing the weapons.
Tell me more about this weapons array - do they appear to be functional? I'd rather not be shot at with linked automatic weapons :p
| DM Kludde |
Viper investigates the turret. The weapons system appears to completely inactive. As she does so, suddenly the light go out for one.. two.. three second, then turn back on.
Harec
|
"I've been told we had very little time, let's head for the bridge..get what we came from and run back our ship before that storm hits us"
Harec twitches, nervously at the flickering lights: Yes, Rockett is correct... time is of the essence...
| DM Kludde |
A quick inspection learns that the door towards the nose of the ship is unpowered, and would require some energy to move. There's no obvious connection here, perhaps there is an engineering room somewhere.
Moktargarn
|
Moktargarn drew his pistol and taclash and led the way. He takes everything that happens in his stride, rolling his shoulders to loosen the muscles in his neck.
"Whatever happens we keep moving," he utters to the group, his eyes darting around at the shadows. As soon as he sees anything remotely hostile, he will open with a shot from his pistol.
Attack, pulsecaster pistol (within 30'): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Damage, pulsecaster pistol: 1d4 ⇒ 2
| DM Kludde |
Moktargarn seems very twitchy, but does seem to be moving towards a particular door.
Is there an area you want to investigate?
Harec
|
Harec gives the door that is, blocking passage to the bridge, a cursory look (take '10' engineering check) No power.. Harec mumbles to no one in particular. Let's see if we can locate engineering....the blood trail leads to port side of the ship..let's start there... Moktargarn you leading us? I'll be right behind Harec pats his acid dart rifle.
I created a pawn for Moktargarn and placed it right next to Viper. Hope no one minds.
| DM Kludde |
As Moktargarn and Harec traverse the hall, following the blood trail, the malfunctioning ceiling turret tracks the movement of the two with a pulsing red light between its twin barrels.
The door opens into an open space. Just inside the doorway, the entry floor is caked with blood, and several batons and shuriken are scattered throughout the room. A simple sparring mat covers much of the center floor. An alcove along the eastern edge houses a weapon rack filled several kinds of batons and a dozen fine shuriken. On the opposite wall is a pad of self-healing foam with colorful abstract targets painted on it. A four-armed metal robot stands in the southwestern corner of the chamber.
A floor-mounted, four-armed sparring robot whirs to life when Mok enters the area. It says 私は決闘にあなたに挑戦する。 あなたは受け入れる準備ができていますか?
I challenge you to a duel. Are you ready to accept?
Moktargarn
|
"Anyone know what this walking tin can said?" Moktargarn asks, keeping his pistol trained on the robot.
Harec
|
Harec motions for the others to catch-up. Rocket....Sebrir..do either of you understand what this machine is trying to tell us?
_Rocket_
|
"I've got no clue..but if it's a battle droid and it makes a hostile move towards us..I'm filling it with holes"
"..but I see there's a weapon rack over there, let's check it out"
Rocket carefully steps over the red gooey stuff on the floor and avoids getting close to the droid, or stepping on the mat and hugs close to the wall as he makes his way to the weapons rack to see if there's anything in there to his liking as he keeps his rifle trained on the robot in case it starts to move
It's bolted to the floor and doesn't have legs right?
Moktargarn
|
Once Rocket has checked the rack, Mok takes a step towards the droid.
| DM Kludde |
The robot repeats it question without making a hostile move: 私は決闘にあなたに挑戦する。 あなたは受け入れる準備ができていますか?
The machine is bolted to the floor, but its got many appendages that can reach the room.
There's a holoprojector in the ceiling, with a shuriken lodged in it.
Computers or Engineering to repair/activate
The weapon rack contains 10 carbonedge shuriken, 9 batons, of which one is remarkably thin and light, 4 cestus battlegloves, and 2 serums of enhancement (commando).
_Rocket_
|
"Anyone want any of these before I leave?"
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11
Rocket nervously glances around as he pockets the shuriken, the 2 serums, a battle glove and 2 different type batons..wondering why one is lighter then the others he tries to examine it after he makes is way out of the room and back to the hall in relative safety with the others
Harec
|
Harec looks at Rocket and says Grab me Baton if you don’t mind
| DM Kludde |
The lighter baton looks like it could hit with tremendous force if wielded by someone with the right amount of strength.
An Idaran force training baton is a 2nd-level uncategorized basic melee weapon that deals 1d4 bludgeoning damage. The damage from this weapon counts as a force effect when wielded by a character with at least 12 Strength. Note, this does not mean the weapon deals force damage, only that it counts as a force effect for overcoming certain defenses. It has the operative and powered (capacity 20, usage 1) special properties, it is light bulk, and it costs 400 credits.
_Rocket_
|
Right before leaving the rack Rocket picks up another baton for Harec.
As he returns to the hallways and studies the odd baton a bit better he likes it's balance and swing
I can use it, but I think Viper 6 might be the best option for this weapon. Anyone want a shuriken or one of the serums?
"Unless someone is looking for a sparing partner - which I don't suggest - we should move to another room"
Harec
|
Harec follows and says I'll take one of those serums too if you found a spare. He grips his acid dart rifle tightly and follows Rocket to the other room.
Moktargarn
|
Moktargarn waits for the others to withdraw before following them.
| DM Kludde |
The northern wall of this chamber is so forcibly compacted to the south that the chamber extends only about ten feet from the door. Several person-sized crates are fused into the distorted hull, obviously melted by extreme heat. Space is visible from between several gaps in the northern wall, accented by the occasional shimmer of a force field.
There's a pattern of android fluids and alien blood spatter along the edges of one of the force field–protected holes into space.
Glitch-702
|
Glitch takes nothing from the weapon racks and leaves to see what's in the room across the way.
Harec
|
Harec takes a peek inside the cramped room..perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Not much to see in here except it's been damaged badly and only the a foce field is keeping out the vacuum of space! Harec hurriedly closes the door and seals the air lock. Lets move to the Starboard side..engine room must be over there....Moktargarn you taking the lead this time? Or Rocket you want to remain lead scout? Harec falls in behind the two soldiers.
After Rocket and Moktargarn move..either one of those players can move Harec behind them. Also Rocket did you hand me one of those serums or not?
_Rocket_
|
@JHarec; Since nobody else wanted it so far you can have it
Spitting out a serum from his mouth pouch Rocket hands it to Harec while entering the new room and taking a look around.
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17
"Look; There's a pattern of android fluids and alien blood spatter along the edges of one of the force field–protected holes into space. "
Harec

"Look; There's a pattern of android fluids and alien blood spatter along the edges of one of the force field–protected holes into space. "
Harec nods, Good eye Rocket..seems there was a battle in here..but we already knew that from the bloodstains in the hall.*edit* After Rockett is through searching the distorted room. Harec seals the airlock to the small distorted room. (repeating my above post) Let's check the Starboard side of the ship for engineering.
Harec follows Rocket to the Starboard side of the ship.
Spitting out a serum from his mouth pouch Rocket hands it to Harec while entering the new room and taking a look around.
Wiping off some of the excess saliva on the serum..Harec puts it in his utility pouch. Thanx Rockett right behind you.
_Rocket_
|
Is the pattern like runes/ a language or just splotches of blood?
Backing out the room Rocket asks "Does anyone recognizes anything in the blood pattern or is it random splater from a fight?"
before moving down the corridor to the next door
SW one
Checking to see if it's save before opening Rocket proceeds to try to see if it will open
Perception on the door cause paranoia: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
| DM Kludde |
In the compressed room, one of the crates contains two android arms, that seem to have been torn right off. The fluids seems to match those present on the hole in the hull.
---
On the starboard side, four beds fill most of these tidy crew quarters. Each bed is neatly made with a prominent item placed atop its center. Above the beds are tightly sealed storage compartments. A single-tier metal shelf curves around the southwestern wall, its surface pristine but entirely empty.
There is a kasathan tradition two place important items on beds when a person is going to make a journey they don't expect to return from. The items are meant as gifts to those who survive them and continue to create future history. The items on the bed look to be an ad hoc version of that tradition.
Harec
|
Harec walks around the empty crew compartments and picks up a few items lying on the beds to inspect them. He sets them down where he found them. And inspects the room before returning to the hall. perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
I don't understand what happened here...some kind of tragedy it seems...We better see where those blood trails lead..Moktargarn, Rocket, will you lead the assault?
_Rocket_
|
Having almost no culture Rocket has no clue whats going on and checks out the items on the beds
If they look expensive he will pocket them after Harec returns them to the beds otherwise he leaves them alone
assuming Harec didn't spot anything interesting
Seeing nothing of interest in the room Rocket moves across the hall to the next door and after making sure it won't blow up in his face proceeds to open it
Perception on the door cause..paranoid: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6
"Guys, be careful..this is where the blood trail ends"
| DM Kludde |
One of the items left atop the bed items is an electronic scale model of the Idari (the roughly cylindrical kasathan world- ship that currently orbits the Pact Worlds’ sun) rotating slowly in the air above a smooth stand. Another bed holds a personal datapad, flashing with a low- battery warning.
A ceremonial Idaran baton, similar to the lighter baton found in the other room, engraved with the lengthy lineage and titles of its owner, rests atop the third bed.
On the fourth bed is an elegantly bound copy of the book Customs of Kasath, a gift traditionally given to a kasatha who has just completed the Tempering, a coming-of-age ritual. The nameplate inside identifies the copy as belonging to Yotto, one of the kasatha crew members. Nestled inside the cover is a least photon crystal.
The compartment above the bed are locked
DC 15 Engineering or Strength to open
The door on the opposite side, where the bloodtrail ends, is locked and needs a keycard.
_Rocket_
|
"Guys..this door is locked, we need a keycard..maybe one of the over bed compartments contains one"
Rocket heads back to check
"Seems like a job for either a crowbar or a screwdriver...let's see how far we get with the screwdriver.."
Engineering: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
After screwing the front panel loose Rocket takes a look inside
Seeing a blinking light out of the corner of his eye Rocket takes the personal data pad and turns it on, hoping to get some information out of it.
While waiting for the datapad to start up he pockets the least photon crystal.
"Hey, look another of those light batons..let's take it"
NPC-ing Viper6 in for a second
Viper6 moves to pick it up and swings it a few time
Harec
|
Harec looks at the items...Perhaps if we're unable to locate the bodies..these personal items will mean something to the families..lets gather them so we can take them back to Absalom Staton and ship them to the appropriate family members after the mission is completed. Rocket did you find anything interesting in the locked compartment?
| DM Kludde |
The baton looks to be another Idaran force training baton. The compartment contains three basic medkits.
The datapad looks to be out of battery. It should be trivial to get some power back with the battery from say, a flashlight. As soon as the power comes back, the datapad starts replaying a number of data logs:
RECORD 1
I am worried about Yotto. She is furious about what happened at the Bulwark and seems to be withdrawing more and more—she didn’t even attend this morning’s spar. Instead, I battled against Blue Sky-101, who is a skilled opponent but lacks the same vitality and understanding of honor. I thought Yotto would at least work some of her anger out by taking baton to bot. Perhaps it is her youth getting the better of her. I will give her a few days to restore her balance.
RECORD 2
The loss of Yotto is unbearable, and to make matters worse, the damage to the ship was more extensive than we thought. The captain sent out a distress beacon in the Drift, but it is too dangerous to stay in this minefield, so we have returned to the Material Plane. When we return to the Idari, I hope the adata will accept Yotto’s body and grant me dispensation to query her soul. I’d like to speak with her one last time—and ask her why she was in the cargo hold when we were hit. For now, I have shrouded her body and placed it in the sparring chamber.
RECORD 3
At first, I thought it was a dream—a nightmare. I walked into the sparring room and there was Yotto, but... changed. She swung at me from across the room, but I felt her hand rip through me as though I were made of paper. I tried to subdue her with the sparring equipment, but my blows simply passed through her. It took all of us armed with force batons to eventually lure her into the captain’s quarters, where the captain sacrificed herself to trap Yotto—or whatever she has become—within her suit’s force field. Kela has rigged one of the ship’s batteries to amplify the field and keep the creature contained, but we may soon be faced with fighting this thing for our lives.
FINAL RECORD
As our forebears faced the dimming of Kasath’s sun, so do we know that our ship’s power reserves near their end. Traska has encrypted our ship’s log, and tonight we will gather in the mess to partake of our final meal. We have placed our sacred items atop our beds, as tradition requires. I hope those items, as well as something of the captain, our pilot, and even Blue Sky-101, find a safe return to the Idari should we not. Eloritu guide us.

"Lots of information of this datapad..and there are a few medkits here..but no key..guess we need to try another door"
"I kinda wish I knew more about the ships layout so we could avoid the captains quarters....so let's hope we get lucky"
Rocket moves to the next door and checks it before trying to open it
Perception cause..paranoid: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16
Only 2 doors left we can try I think..let's try the one to the south first
Harec
|
Harec reads the information on the Datapad grimly. He grips the force baton that he just found tightly and tucks it in his belt. I may need it if this creature is still alive. It appears one of the crew members was...transformed somehow after she perished from the impact of a mine? Maybe a meteor? Perhaps some magic relic that was in the cargo hold aided the transformation. Harec looks frustrated as his questions just lead to further questions.
If this thing..or creature, of the former crew mate still lives...we are in dire peril. Harec unconsciously taps the force baton he just retrieved. I suggest we have our weapons at ready. We can acquiesce to the author on the datapad's wishes after we've retrieved the logs on the bridge. Harec lets out a long exasperated breathe. If we have time to recover the sparing bot we will...but, we'll do it after our primary mission is completed? Agreed?
| DM Kludde |
The door opens up to a lavatory. A ten-foot-wide communal shower stands along the south of this room. A rack of towels rests within reach, while a trio of sinks and toilet stalls covers the rest of this room. A single door admits access to this washroom.
Moktargarn
|
Apologies for the sudden disappearance, normal service has been resumed.
At the question of scouting, Mok looks at the others.
"I am happy to be the first into battle but," he looks down at himself, "I'm not exactly built for stealth."
Viper 6
|
Viper keeps at practicing swings with the baton "I think I can work with this".
"Bathroom huh?" Viper moves in to look for any dirty laundry that might hold a keycard...
| DM Kludde |
Viper explores the bathroom, and when she opens one of the faucets, a clear liquid comes out. Within a few seconds, the stream turns a crimson red. Soon after, it returns back to its clear state.
_Rocket_
|
"No keycard here..so unless we missed it before..there's not much doors it could be behind"
Rocket turns around in the corridor and after making sure that the door isn't electrified and ready to fry or something nasty him tries to open it
Perception cause still paranoid, bloody water isn't helping in that regard: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19
Viper 6
|
"Nothing good in here" Viper comments, not wanting to dwell on what just happened "Let's try that other door"
Leaves the room and heads to the other one and opens that instead
