Sal nods "Thats what I'm thinking. I wanted to try a low number, give the program less to keep track of, aim for simplicity. But I'm beginning to think that's the wrong answer. At least four, maybe more to help handle the recoil and provide redundancy. I know there's no recoil for this weapon but I'm aiming for something a bit heavier. And I'll be honest, the programming is pretty simple right now. Motion detection and early warning programs, target tracking of course, your basic stuff but I'm improving it a bit every day."
After the shop.
Sal will use his wrist computer to access the station's info sphere and a map to the Gardens. He's unfamiliar with the place but ready to get moving given the focus on speed.

As the group exists the pawnshop… “I have verified that the insignias are legit. To Captain Brob “I noticed you tried to be helpful back there but it seems that Vesk only respond well to other Vesk. Perhaps you will be better with the Eoxian? If it helps, I do have their language in my database of understandable and speak-able dialects. But I reiterate that I generally make things worse if I have to convince someone to do anything except surrender.” X5 puts his hand on CD1 and attempts a “wink.”
“As to Dyukela’s suggestion…I agree that we should move quickly.” X5 shifts his gaze back to the computer and searches the available public wifi for general information and directions to the “Vat Garden”. "and by the way Dyukela...was there a voice behind you earlier?"

The station maps get a bit unclear in the Downlow but Sal and X5NSA are able to find good enough directions. In the ten minutes it takes to walk there, Sal was able to find the following description of the Vat Gardens.
The Vat Gardens, Level 18's finest garden! Selling plants and flowers all over Absalom Station!
Meanwhile, X5NSA searches the datapads. There is no obvious datajack or port, nor a wireless connection. However, upon deeper inspection it becomes apparent to his trained mind that they are meant to be slotted into a larger computer interface. Likely, this computer acts as a method of decryption or data transfer.
After ten minutes of walking and following the map.
The station passageways open into an enormous sunken pool filled with a riotous growth of plants. A narrow walkway leading to other parts of Downlow encircles the overgrown vat, and a spire of some kind of machinery stands in its center. For such a busy section of Downlow, the area is surprisingly quiet. Two ladders and a steep staircase pierce the foliage and lead down into the vat. As the group walks through the final hallway, a voice can be heard echoing through the passage. ”Hey boss, I found a skull. You want it?”
On the third page of the slides is a mock hallway. Please arrange yourselves in your standard order, that way I can prep fights for you! Also, Salvo I need your Initiative and Perception on your statblock.

I added those in, and switched out what I think was a stand in for my bot. I don't mind using it as a defensive placement in front, it can't attack in melee but it can soak one or two hits. If I moved someone else's drone I apologize, we have a lot of mechanics and I'm not sure who's an exocortex. If someone else wants the front feel free to move my bot or I, just keep us adjacent if you will.

Of course. Only a Vesk has the bravery and courage to stand firm under fire, insuring the safety of those around them. Who else could do the job right?
At hearing the voice Sal will wave at the rest to indicate they should hurry forward, before following his own guidance.

Boss? Did the corpseman find companions already? Time to earn my keep...
Pointing to the the shirren, Brob then points to his head, then the rest of the parties' heads, pantomiming Thought Speech. "<I'm going to scout ahead a sec... if you hear me screaming my head off, my cover is blown, and please come rescue earlier than your earliest convenience>" Taking a deep breath, Brob does what every good commander never does, and leads from the front, sneaking ahead a bit.

Well... shoot. None of them can beat that roll!
As the Captain Brobdingnagian sneaks his sneaky way through the door and onto the catwalk, he looks down into the garden below. Amongst the dense foliage four figures are shown. In the center is a lanky ghoul dressed in a fight suit and wrapped in a concealing cloak to hide her undead nature. Around her are three muscled thugs with matching sneers. She appears to be stacking skulls into a pile.
Slide 5 is updated!
The floor of the Vat Garden is 15 feet lower than the walkway surrounding it, and the foliage is so thick that creatures in the vat have total concealment (50% miss chance) from creatures up on the walkway. Within the vat, the orderly rows of plants provide concealment (20% miss chance) to opponents more than 10 feet away; enemies closer than this do not beneft from concealment.
The two ladders and steep staircase leading down into the vat are easy to navigate, but you can also climb down the plants themselves using Athletics.

Brob (hopefully) relays this information with an accommodating Shirren Mindspeak. <Hey, guys, looks like we found the ghoul, and she's made three friends. It's kinda hard to see what they're doing with all the vegetation, but there's a pair of stairs. Do we want to try and ask nicely first to get what we need? Regardless, we should make tactical positions.>

Since this is PbP, let's assume all rolls, knowledges and telekinetic communication is automatically shared. Obviously, role playing the information is good but we don't want to bottle neck ourselves.
Dyukela whispers Brob's message to the group.
I'm going to need to double check the rules on limited telepathy. Isn't it one way only? If it is, we'll assume Brob sneaked back.
| Obozaya Ymeros |
It's two way, but only to/from the telepath. A group of telepaths can have a conversation.
Back through Dyukela: "We should focus fire and take them down one at a time if it comes to a fight, and with Eoxians, it always comes to a fight."
Dyukela
|
Dyukela whispers to the rest of the group.
I got a telepathic message from Brob. There is a Ghoul with three friends. Plants block clear vision on them. There are stairs that we can use to go down. Are we going to attack or go to them and try to talk.

Previously, after the shop negotiation and the party is outside.
Flush blinks a few times and shakes her head, tapping the side of it. "What just, ah, happened did we er, get the um, stuff we needed to get and er, ah, so, where are we going next? Oh, um, that's ah, good, then."
At the 'Garden'
Initially, the nerdy Vesk was going to go to the back of the formation... until she realized that there really *wasn't* a 'back of the formation'.
Between drones and Captain McShortySneaky there was simply no way for her to back up without even FURTHER cementing the divide between Obozaya's style and her own.
Um, ah, could we er, at least, ah, try not to um kill them, they might um, have er, important information for us? Flush offers back over the link while pulling down her pulsecaster rifle and tweaking a few settings on it, very careful to keep it pointed away from the party.
Because a non-lethal weapon may be of uncertain use against undead, Flush is considering targeting 'muscle'. If she can get line of sight on any of them, she will 'lock them in' as a move action and prepare to fire. Given that it may take her a move to get to a spot where she may be able to do this, that would be her first turn. The next turn would be shooting, and if that did not bring down the target continuing to keep it locked on. If the target is down, lather rinse, repeat. Player has to go to work and will be unavailable for about nine hours.

Brob mind-speaks one more time for the Shirren to relay, <Back me up, guys. I'll talk when you move a bit closer, and they notice us.
This is going to get hairier than a ysoki soon, I'm guessing.>
After the party moves in a bit, or any potential hostile notices them: Brob steps out from his hiding spot, still holding his his rifle to his side as he yells down, "Hiya! Making new friends down there!? We don't want to intrude, as it looks like you're quite a busy mortician, but we have an urgent matter. We were lead to believe that you were in possession of some Starfinder Society IDs. Where did you acquire them from?"
This isn't going to work Brob thinks with an outward smile plastered on his face.

Obo's shot was aimed true but was blocked by a tree branch. X5's aim was steadied by his new position and struck his target right in the chest, creating a large burn. As he is recovering a small stone flies up and hits him right between the eyes. He appears dazed but is still standing.
The southern Green mercenary lets out an angry grunt, pulls out a hammer and runs toward the nearest ladder. I can't find any rules which cover this so...Going up a ladder is an entire move action. Perhaps Obo's reputation has been exaggerated as she misses yet another shot. Eager to regain her honor she prepares for melee. Amidst the firefight the enemies don't even seem to notice Flush creeping along the edge of the vat. Meanwhile, Sal is using his military training to construct a quick barricade for his captain. (Even if this captain has dubious credentials). His pride at his creation distracts him however, causing him to miss the thug entirely. Mark I cannot feel pride and is unerring in his assault, shooting a large laser at the thug who just climbed the ladder. A burn spreads across his right knee and he screams in pain. X5NSA seems distracted by his burning shoulder and fails to finish off the thug within the vat. His drone's processor fires true but failed to account for the small branches in the way and the laser shot is dissipated.
The blue mercenary continues to run as another rock flies right behind him. Captain Brobdingnagian, eager to prove his stuff, takes a deep breath and aims for the thug on the ladder. With a squeeze of the trigger he hits the mercenary right in the stomach. The thug bends over for a moment but continues to climb the ladder in spite of the pain.

Dyukela good catch! I was thinking of his laser pistol and looked at your EAC, not the proper KAC. You're back at full health.

As the man's body falls, the thug on the platform turns to look. ”Brother, NO!” With a look of extreme hatred he turns, dodges the rock and swings at Dyukela as the shirren is distracted. The two ladders and steep staircase leading down into the vat are easy to navigate, but you can also climb down the plants themselves using Athletics.
Salvo "Sal"
|
Sal nods and holsters his weapon, "I'll take her into custody, keep us covered please." with that he rolls off the catwalk, using some plant stalks to slow his decent and land on his feet. He'll approach the Ghoal slowly and carefully. "Nice to meet you, I go by Salvo, you? We've just got a few questions about some recent merchandise you sold. Just come and answer them, and I'm sure we can come to a reasonable arrangement."
Move: holster
Swift: stand up(Moxie)
Standard: move down into the gardens, Athletics roll to make the decent: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Mark will keep the pair under observation.
Sal will leave the actual questioning to another, presuming she doesn't just jump him when he arrives.
X5NSA
|
“Captain Brob, I believe you are up. I’ll cover the entrances and exits.” X5 stands up (move action) and readies to activate the drones fire (standard action) on the purple/pink or new arriving yet to be seen thug, should decide to reengage in combat. The existing thug can flee as far as I’m concerned. The ready is only if someone comes towards me looking to engage in combat.
Dyukela
|
Dyukela moves 20ft. north and yell to Ghoul: Don't move!
If ghoul moves Dyukela will try to hit ghoul with rock.
to hit KAC Ghoul: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

COMBAT OVER
It looks like all aggression has stopped, so I'll call the combat here. No need to go in initiative order.
As Sal leaps down into the vat, the ghoul drops her pistol into the moss below. When Dyukela cries out, the final thug looks over his shoulder with a look of fear but continues to run. Quickly he is out of sight and around the corner. The ghoul's pointed teeth shine as she responds. ”And have those drones blow my head off? No thanks. I ain't paid enough for that.”
Looking at Salvo, she continues. ”The name is Exegara Long-Tongue, of Eox. I'm an assistant pilot for the Corpse Fleet's Endless Threnody. What do you want to know?”
