No landmines. Grenades get their own section with various types of grenades of increasing item levels. There are grenade launchers but they just increase the throw range. One of the Soldier's styles let's them create grenades of their level or lower. Only one at a time though and it takes 10 minutes to make a new one.

Actually I am realizing just how many pbp games I signed up for and am looking for ones I can drop without hurting the table. I think you should have no trouble finding a replacement player id I drop from this one.

Excellent, and I can only assume massee/Mr. Peppers will continue too, he doesn't have a choice! ;)
ZD and kuey, that's nearly everyone if you guys also join. Bigguyinblack won't be able to since he's playing it at a local shop, so I can find 1 more when the time comes.
Edit: You mean you're dropping from the first session too?
GM Red

Yeah, thanks for all of the info you passed our way, Bigguy! I'm sure we'll bump into each other again on the boards.
I posted in Flaxseed Station looking for another player. It shouldn't take long :)

I believe Karmic Knight is playing a Soldier or Operative. No one else has firmed up on anything yet, probably waiting for the CRB.

Haha, I'm downloading it right now too. Speeds are pretty slow as expected. I'm surprised the site is still up.
I don't know how I'm going to get any work done today...

I just drafted up a Ysoki Outlaw Envoy. Something of a party face, Eddie "8Ball" specializes in small and long arms and is a skill monkey (skill rat?) Backstory is something along the lines of hitching a ride aboard a frigate bound for Absalom station after hearing about the potential for untold notoriety and exploration if he just joined the Starfinder Society. Whether it meant he could continue to bend the rules as he had for so many years was something he only assumed to be true. I imagine him to sound like Meowth from the dubbed Pokemon. HAH! "Whattaya mean ya can't grab her Credstick? Are ya some kinda paladin or somethin'?"
Still want to make an engineer, and I'm sure I will once I read some more... :)

Character is complete. Two hours later.
Still need to read the computers rules and starpship combat rules.
I went from a knowledge hound to a mechanic with a bounty hunter theme

OK, figured out being mechanic means that my custom rig, AKA, my left arm, acts as a hacking tool and engineering tools. So score, I do not need to buy those separately.
My Exocore makes me more combat effective.
I also read the starship sections, apparently, he is decent enough at everything except being the captain. I doubt the first scenario has starship combat, but just in case it comes up.

Ok, declaration first. I just got back from playing my first SFS game today with The Commencement. It was great fun and I'm anxiously waiting for this to start so I can try it out with a different character! And I promise I won't spoil anything!
Incidentally, I played an android mechanic who is professionally a doctor. So he goes around telling everyone that he is The Doctor, in a cyberman voice. Lol!
For this game, I've planned out a lashunta mystic. Got a +8 diplomacy and intimidate, so if necessary, he can play the captain role unless there's an envoy who can take care of that.

Ok I'm slowly building my Ysoki Ace Pilot Soldier. I've gone Bombard like I mentioned so don't expect Ratatatat to start the battle meleeing. That's not his MO.

Look at these characters coming together... I'm getting pretty excited to start this!

Alright! Mjolbeard's character here!
Faraeon is an lashunta icon operative who spends his days off from Society duty traveling the Pact Worlds and participating in any kind of physical competitions/obstacle courses/etc. he can find to increase his personal fame. I imagine him being the kind of person who would really love and excel at something like Ninja Warrior, especially once he scrapes together the funds for some jump jets!
Combat-wise, he'll help out up front with multi-weapon fighting to deal out damage, while hopefully being nimble enough to avoid hits himself.
For starships, he'll probably be best in the pilot's seat or on the guns.
All that to say...I'm super excited to get started! Can't wait to see what the rest of you come up with!

I could be decent as a captain as well. 14 Cha to help you all feel nice and at ease as we hurtle through space and try not to explode...

This is Poppilo, my lashunta mystic, priest of Besmara, the Pirate Queen. Hmm starship wise, he can be the captain with +8 to diplo and intimidate.

Noone takes the pilot seat but Ratatatat he will gnaw your toes off!
But he will let you be co-pilot if it is allowed hehe.

Man, so few feats to choose from. Not being a damage dealing character and having a BA of +0 makes your feat options pretty nil.
Also did anyone else notice and cringe when they made feat skill bonuses insight? Same as the Envoy skill bonus dice... nice.

I'm guessing it's to prevent a Level 1 Envoy from rolling a +15 on a skill check right out of the gate... At higher levels, yeah, it's kind of unfortunate that a skill monkey can't take full advantage of Skill Focus.
Poppilo Moraeme

Yeah, I read some analysis of this on the forums and it seems to be intentional. The expertise dice gives and average of 3.5, which is largely equivalent to a Skill Focus feat. So it seems intentional.
However, there is still mechanical advantage to take Skill Focus for those feats which you have expertise in. Skill Focus sets the minimum that your expertise dice would get you. Then, starting from level 9 when your minimum expertise roll is 3, you can reroll expertise dice for those skills once a day, which can be useful.
As for feats, yes, I noticed that when building my mechanic (for the other game) and this mystic. Decided to take longarm proficiency for my mechanic to up his combat effectiveness (with a high Dex anyway), and toughness for my mystic to compensate for the lashunta Con penalty. I think that for an envoy, improved initiative can be useful to get your party buffs up before your allies.

Ya it seems pretty bad that they have synergy to take skill focuses yet anti synergy to NOT take skill focuses... Its pretty disappointing. I'll keep reading, maybe something will inspire me, or maybe I'll not be an Envoy and pick another class with the same character idea more or less.
