Yeah, I myself bought the augment and with what is left it felt strained to get anything I wanted so I just waited.

"Hey, group of majority Chaotic Good guys. How do YOU feel about this legal dispute?"
Pippimi
I mean, "Evil Megacorporation" is such an ingrained trope that even if the author spent no time making them seem shady, the players would still side against them!
I think if I ever got a chance to run Dead Suns book 1 again, I'd flesh out the investigation so that the players have real evidence to gather and a better feel for what would legally tilt things towards the Hardscrabblers or the Corp. With real evidence to find it'd be less "side with the little guys!" and more "Do I ignore evidence to the contrary to side with the little guys?". Could make for cool roleplay.

As much as I'm a 80s cyberpunk kid at heart, I think Starfinder really takes the "evil megacorp" trope a bit too far. What was that SFS mission I did where the mission was to rob a hypercorp of their corporate secrets just because... they are a hypercorp!
It's like, hey let's go rob that Nobel because he has money!
Not something "good" or "lawful" players would really do.
But hey, spaceships and laser guns. I'm good.
Zoran Duvahl
The Path/Starfinders are definitely not "Good" organizations judging by some of the missions they take.
z45719
They seem to be either true ornchaotic neutral, far as I can tell. With a dangerous "ends justify the means" mindset that easily could lead to the path of true evil.
But there are only so many caves full of evil undead before adventures get boring.
I just have to accept a LG character is simply impossible to really RP in PFS/SFS. Good thing I prefer CN pragmatists anyway :)

I hate that portion of the SFS mission. It provides so little justification. There is another mission that's very similar. "This corporation is hiding something. Go trespass, hack, and fraud your way in so you can steal whatever data they're hiding."
I was lucky enough with the repeatable to have one of my GM's go out of their way to provide reasoning as to why Historia would want us to steal corporate data. It was good enough for my lawful neutral character.
z45719
Yep, I did a token "why are we doing this" but just brushed it off. My mechanic wanted to hack something anyway.
And since he was Lashunta and worked for one of their corporations, easy to justify it as ... market research.
Pippimi
I actually like that the Society is a bit shady! :>
Though they definitely err on the chaotic side of the chaotic-lawful axis, which makes it tough for dedicated LN or LG characters unless you play them as pragmatists or do a lot of mental gymnastics.

So, we got 600 each from the eoxian?

New avatar. I guess it matters less for Humans in starfinder, and the one I had was "modern" enough. But, trying out a new one anyway.

FYI: I'm going to be away this weekend, Saturday 11/10 and Sunday 11/11. I will not have reliable access to internet and the ability to post. Bot as necessary. I will return and resume posting Sunday evening (US/Pacific time).
z45719
Sorry, been scarce the past few. Was visiting family and didnt anticipate soo much text and me drinking so many cocktails.
I'll catch up tomorrow AM when I can think straight after a night of good rests.
z45719
Indeed but unfortunately the combination of losing weight and getting older leads to reduced tolerance and occasionally leads to wicked hangovers.
Got a little over ambitious with my cocktail selections Saturday and am still paying for it.
Clank Zappow!
Sorry for not being around much recently; in addition to everything else, I've got an HOA annual board meeting tonight that's been sucking up a bunch of my time. I would much rather be stuck on a ship full of deathbiting blue dogs than have to deal with this stuff ;)
z45719
Works for me. I'll be around all weekend, my off weekend was the last one. Blasted work!

I love the roleplaying! So great! For anyone wondering when the action will start: This AP is structured in three very distinct parts.
1. Investigation: Expect little-to-no combat. Lots of investigation skills and fun roleplaying.
2. Exploration: Different skills and moderate combat.
3. Dungeon: combatcombatcombat.
So there will be something for everyone and every build. Just not mixed together very well, unfortunately.
Also, I fully expect our pace to keep slowing down over the next four weeks. Especially on the weekends! I'm sure most people's workplaces and/or personal lives will be ramping up this month. I want to try to keep us going but, as we get closer to the holidays, we can talk about a week off or so to allow for real life!

This is probably a good time for me to mention that I'll be traveling on vacation from the 15th of December through the 6th of January. Normally, I'd just do my best to continue posting in some capacity, but this time around the vacation destination is one with dubious internet (Doing a bit of a road trip around Indonesia!), so I may not be able to post at all.
Before I leave I'll make sure to have some botting instructions in my profile (though with how Dead Suns is balanced, you may just be able to have Pippimi fade into the background for a while :>).
Zoran Duvahl
I should be at my normal pace till the 3rd of January which is when I will be moving to Tokyo. I will likely be MIA for most parts of that upcoming week but once settled will be able to post as usual...just shifted about 14 hours.
I will build some bot instructions as well.

Oh, I would be travelling from approx 15th Dec to 4 Jan as well. There would be sporadic periods that I can post though depending on the itinerary on those days.

I think I'll be okay through this holiday. I've been able to avoid major travel this time.
Before I leave I'll make sure to have some botting instructions in my profile (though with how Dead Suns is balanced, you may just be able to have Pippimi fade into the background for a while :>).
Oh man, I think it would be awesome for those that remain to try their hand at Pippimi. I'll create the alias tonight if you're up for it :)
Clank Zappow!
It's worth noting now that I'm likely going to be somewhat flakey the 21st - 26th, but I will have a laptop at least.

Hrmmmm.... Let's do this then! Let's call an official week-long break, starting on the 22nd and continuing through the 28th. That will allow us to be away without worry. And we can start back up, knowing that we'll be a little slower with some people posting intermittently. And like Pippimi said, please have good botting instructions in your profile. (With example rolls, for bonus points!)
Also, wow what travelers we have!! Tokyo and Indonesia will be big adventures!
Also, the whole "Androids can't taste very well" detail was new to me when I read this AP. I'm not sure if that's mentioned elsewhere or not.
Clank Zappow!
My trip to Myrtle Beach seems to pale in comparison, though I am flying back home on Christmas day, so that will be... interesting. That definitely sounds like a good plan though :)
For the other, there's a non-trivial chance that the "android tastebuds" was something that was written up for the AP and won't really be referenced again.

I missed this earlier, but it sounds fun. Go for it!
In my headcanon, this is just a failing of Uilee specifically, not an android thing in general.

Ahhhhhh! Doppelganger! Kill it with fire!
Eh, ahem. Welcome Pippimi mk II
Pippimi
"Hullo Pippimi, Pippimi happy to meet!"
"Pippimi think also Pippimi looking very good tonight. Very sophisticated. Pippimi do good job as Pippimi, Pippimi sure."

I'm sorry, Pippimi Mk2, the position of annoying talking animal has already been taken ;)

Boom! You have visas to get to Ukulam, a reason to go, and a map to follow once you're there. We are 98% of the way done with Part 1 of this book!
Now, when I played through this book IRL, I was SO confused at this point. SO CONFUSED. Which professor did we care about? Why did we care about her? Why did we even end up on this planet? When will my drone be able to fight with it's cool new gun? etc. Most of that was due to our group's terrible scheduling. BUT, I want to make sure everyone is caught up with the story, because there are a lot of names and locations being thrown around here.
So, while we prepare to leave for Ukulam in the Gameplay thread - ask me any remaining questions you might have! I want to clear up any remaining confusion about this first part, because the rest of the book will be based on what we've uncovered so far.

IIRC, we're here to have smart professors translate things we found in book one and got roped into saving one who disappears, which I think was the one who could best translate for us.
z45719
Yeah I got a bit confused here. We got the big brain telling us where to look for the guy who got kidnapped who can translate the thing the starfinders want us to figure out.
Or something.
Also, does noone else want that light armor they have us, cause I'll take it if noone else needs it but I feel my Freebooter armor is better than what several of you all are wearing.
Zoran Duvahl
Yeah, I thought this whole thing was chasing down out translator and all the shenanigans that come with it.
I will take the armor as I want to be hugging out melee for support and it has better slots if I decide to use them.

Hey, Clank is here to be a positive role model for all of goblinkind while changing perceptions of race relations... at the same time eating everything in sight, blowing things up, and making good money while doing it.
