As far as the Shabti, I have minor issues with the race, but it's allowable. The flavor would have to be something different, though. Ascended in my estimation are WAY more powerful as a race than the PC's could be.
Yeah, that's what I figured. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on a cool idea by just assuming it wouldn't fit.
Hopefully I can think of something else by the time you decide to close recruitment.
GM Space Duck |
Sorry to hear that choon! Let us know if you free up before starting time!
So far as closing recruitment, I will let you know as soon as I have a chill couple of days to get my thoughts together and really crack down on all the subs. Also I'm still waiting on a few dots and people that have let me know they're applying. It'll be a couple weeks before I'm free enough to announce a deadline and start the thing.
Michelle A.J. Contributor |
Would it be too late for me to give it a shot? Looking over this, I'm pretty excited about the concept. I haven't been able to play League in months since my "good" computer crapped out on me, and the one I have left has fits when I try to run it.
I'm a support main in game (and a Leona main for long enough that I changed my summoner name to SunshineAndSpite), so I'd love to run a tanky, defensive crowd controller here. I was thinking about an Oread Arcana Defender. Possibly with the race reflavored as some sort of hextech creation, but functionally unchanged.
I'll write up a proper background when it's not stupid o' clock in the morning, but I have already picked the perfect song
Edit: Apparently Arcana Defender is, in fact, a third party class (Oops. I was wondering why it didn't sound more familiar.) So I will play some other class, but the general concept will most likely be the same.
GM Space Duck |
Not too late at all! I have yet to even review all the applicants. I'll peek at arcana defender, but yeah probably best to make another class.
Also I work 3rd shift, so Stupid o'clock is my life.
I hope to get a little variety here, and some more from the interest check. However I love the subs so far. I shall review them now that I am more accustomed to my hew job and shift. We'll see how its looking in a week's time.
Michelle A.J. Contributor |
So, I could play a base magus with the shield as my one-handed weapon, and just eat the arcane spell failure, but that would be...sub-optimal, to put it mildly.
Or, I could just build a warpriest. Mechanically, this is a much better option, and it gives me access to a bigger pool of "support" spells. However, it depends on how you want to handle Golarion dieties on Valoran. If you approve of me flavoring an oread as a hextech construct, perhaps I could change "deity" to "inventor"? I'm thinking Torag would be a good fit
GM Space Duck |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I do approve of the flavor of the Oread race, so long as you remain somewhat organic such that you can't argue construct traits since an Oread can't either. Runeterrans tend to worship Ideologies rather than deities. "I stand for Justice and the might of Demacia." "Prosperity through technology." "Strength above honor." Darn near anything Viktor says. I'd prefer you follow something like that which fits your blessings. Justice, strength, order, chaos, light, carnage, etc... Basically, pick your blessings and so long as they don't contradict each other or your actions, you're good.
Hat-Trick |
The only real examples of religion come from either cults (Malzahar acting as the prophet of the Void and Elise sacrificing mortals to her Spider lord Vilemaw), Hero worship (I can't imagine the Shurimans don't venerate the Ascended), or Misinformation (The Celestial City of Targon isn't so much a city of gods as it is an advanced galactic empire that the Solari treat as Divine, backed up by Targon's ability to imbue mortals with power ala Leona and Taric). The most sincere form of god in the setting I can think of is Nagakaborous, Illaoi's god, though that might just be the fact that we don't know much about Nagakaborous outside of her preaching. In general, most citizens of Rune Terra do seem to put their faith behind ideologies as stated, but that doesn't mean there aren't "gods" to use the term loosely.
Michelle A.J. Contributor |
Yeah, that's true. I'm not saying they don't exist, just that they're uncommon enough that a "divine warrior" class might be a little out of place in the campaign. Not that I couldn't make it work, but I'd rather tweak the character to fit the setting than just make something up whole-cloth.
(Tbh, I'm not as familiar with a lot of the reworked lore. I felt a bit slighted by the whole "You know all the stories you've been reading and getting invested in over the years? Forget em all, we're changing everything.")

OK working on a submission but I have a question:
If I have This feat the chosen weapon is cestus
and I have a monk's unarmed strike increased damage progression
do I apply the increased unarmed damage to the cestus?
Another question:
are there "monsters" i.e orc, goblins, etc in this game world? is monster hunter a viable thing?

Presenting Ayva, the Shield Soldier, Defender of Peace
While there have been several advances in the field of automata, these scientists strived to do something wholly different. Their aim was to build a living, breathing, hextech soldier. One who would think and feel just like any other human (or yordle). They programmed her with an unerring sense of duty, honor and compassion, yet otherwise she would be able to act and reason freely. With a crystal heart pumping artificial blood through her body, Ayva was born.
Once they were certain she was fully functional, they issued her first orders. ”Go to Demacia, provide aid, and receive further instructions when you arrive.” Or at least, that’s probably what they meant to say. Whether it was a slip of the tongue, or an intentional misunderstanding, what Ayva heard was-
”Go to Demacia. Provide Aid. Receive further instructions when you arrive.”
And so, along the way to Demacia, she has stopped to provide aid to any and every innocent soul who requires it. She strives to become a beacon of Demacian ideals, defending the weak and innocent, and rooting out evil wherever it exists. If there is a single “flaw” in her design, it is that she’s too compassionate. Shortly after leaving Piltover, she abandoned or destroyed any weapons in her possession, keeping only her shield.

The spell must be used to produce an effect requested aloud by a humanoid within 30 feet since the end of your last turn.

Spells cast in this way ignore somatic components and do not provoke attacks of opportunity. The warpriest does not need to have a free hand to cast a spell in this way.
Blessings:
Protection - Increased Defense (minor): At 1st level, you can gain a +1 sacred bonus on saving throws and a +1 sacred bonus to AC for 1 minute. The bonus increases to +2 at 10th level and +3 at 20th level.

Pyrrhus Hopkins, the Hobgoblin is ready, and he even has his own short story. Basically, he's a survivor of the same chemical disaster that made Riven realize how terrible Noxus is, but instead of being a good guy who escaped scratch free, he's a vengeful and petty monster who's working with the Demacians as a mercenary, just so he can get a chance to screw over Noxian High Command. He's not evil, to fit your requirements, but he's definitely not a hero either. He's a soldier at heart, meaning he does what's needed.

Coco’s father was an experienced monster hunter as was her mother. But ever since her mother disappeared while out on an expedition, her father tended to just stay at home.
Where is home? Well it’s a small cabin in the woods a few miles from Piltover. The pair (Coco and her father) would make several trips into the city every year to sell some goods, or share some stories with old friends, But Coco wanted to make a name for herself. She was taught basic fighting techniques from her father, but she yearned for more.
Her father taught her that every living person has an inner power, but very few learn to master that inner power. Coco had learned her inner power relatively young, the power over fire. Though she has much to learn, she knows that someday she will master her talent and achieve greatness.
Growing up, Coco always heard tales of Vi, the Piltover Enforcer. It was coco’s aspirations to be a lot like her; even Though she never met the champion.
Never played the game, don’t have an account.
Love the artwork
Like a large amount of the concepts.
Just now started to read about the lore some more to get a better feel for this game.

If I have This feat the chosen weapon is cestus

do I apply the increased unarmed damage to the cestus?
Yep. Seems like it's made specifically for that and things like it.
Another question:

The Beast Hunter skin series would seem to suggest that it is.
@Michelle A.J. - After peeking at the Arcane Defender, I could allow it if you'd rather scrap the work you did on the warpriest. I would ask that you use the shield solely because I like the flavor and it seems less breakable that way. I will work with you if you are chosen and it begins to seem over or under powered.
Thanks for the other submissions, and let me know if questions are still unanswered. I will begin to compile a list of taglines and subsequently review submissions when I wake up. Right meow, I just got off of third shift and I'm going to bed.

Also, I saw you talking about feat taxes earlier. It seems nearly every shield feat required TWF as a prereq, but as I won't be carrying a weapon, is there any chance I could swap that for another one? (I'm not sure which, as I haven't planned my full buuld yet, but I wanted to be sure it was an option before I delved into it.
Vallen Alberon |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Finally figured out a name for this guy, so presenting Vallen Alberon, the addict of good deeds!
"Why, yes, that WAS rather kind of me! So glad you noticed!"
Vallen Alberon, at first glance, seems like your typical pretty-boy fighter. Long, blonde hair, clad in polished, shiny heavy armor, and wielding either a warhammer or a longsword--whichever suits his fancy at the time--, and the look of someone who just barely knows what's going on whenever words are involved. Ready to charge head-first into battle to subdue the enemy, he's a front-liner that's more than willing to lay his hands on allies to keep them fighting alongside him, for what could be greater than the deed of comradery?
When I do play League, I'm usually a top laner, though I dabble in ADC from time to time. I play a lot of Singed, Jayce, MF, Twitch, and Kled. If hard-pressed, I'd say I main Singed, but I rarely actually get to play him effectively. I like to pick him against Riven, though, as Riven just needs to be tossed aside all the time, every time. Wish Riot would just fling her off the roster...
Such was the life that Vallen Alberon found for himself in his younger years. His parents did the best they could for five years, the two having found themselves in a low point of their lives after Vallen's birth. It wasn't a good life, having to steal, fight, and beg for their every meal, but it was all they could do without resorting to horrendous tests from the many scientists around. It was just life to Vallen, though, not knowing any better. Sure, he questioned many things, but if they were doing it just to keep him alive, it had to be good.
A lot of that changed, though, when his parents were tricked into being test subjects of a new, potent, synthetic drug. What they thought was going to be their next meal was actually something laced with Craze, a mild toxic that caused hallucinations, convulsions, and a strong sense of euphoria. The euphoria lasted only for ashort time, before temporary insanity kicked in, causing a wide variety of reactions. The worst part about it, though, was just how addicting it was; one dose was all it took for Vallen's parents to get hooked.
Needless to say, Vallen's life took quite a turn after this event. His parents were completely indisposed most of the time, and it was up to himself to keep himself alive, a task that was a bit more difficult than usual at the age of six. There was a lot of things that young Vallen had to do to get by, and many of them he'd rather forget. Year after year, he felt dirtier and dirtier about his way of living, and longed for some sort of alternative. All the stealing, all the fighting, and all the "small favors" he had to do were wearing on his soul. His parents weren't getting any better, either, which made it even harder on him.
On the brink of despair, a faint glimmer of hope shined down on Vallen in the form of a robbery. It wasn't one he was begrudgingly planning, though, but rather one he happened to pass by while trying to scrounge up some money. Two armed robbers were holding up a small shop. This didn't concern the 16 year old Vallen all that much; it was just common to the slums of Zaun, after all. However, when he heard that little girl, no older than 5, scream out in terror as one of the robbers fired a shot just over her head, he couldn't stand by. Terror ran through his chest, but he just couldn't let a child get shot for nothing. Picking up a stray pipe nearby, Vallen charged in from behind and clobbered the closest gunman in the back of the head. The loud thunk was enough to get the other to turn around and immediately shoot, but by some miracle, the spread of pellets missed Vallen as he charged in to strike the other man, and just like that, he saved the day.
Unsure of what just happened himself, he just stood there panting, looking at the girl who still seemed terrified. The store owner called out to the boy, though, and snapped him back to his senses. He fell to his knees and dropped the pipe, a strange sensation washing over him. It was tingly, it was sudden, it was...pure. He barely heard the thanks and gratitude that was being given to him, his mind getting lost in the moment. To this day, the store owner never gets tired of retelling how bright that boy's smile was after he realized just what a great deed he had done. He even remembers how amazed he was that Vallen refused any sort of reward afterwards, as well.
After that, Vallen felt he knew what he was meant to do. A full year after his first good deed, rumors of a savior of the slums spread, this lone, blonde, young man stopping robberies and muggings all on his own, and for nothing more than to simply do it. Word had even spread to Demacia, who, for reasons unknown, decided to send an army recruiter to seek out this figure. He was quickly found, as the recruiter was held up at knifepoint almost as soon as he was within Zaun's borders, but before the gang could make their threats, they were beset by Vallen, who quickly knocked all of them out with a makeshift hammer. Already impressed, the recruiter offered Vallen a chance to join Demacia's army and help spread justice and peace throughout all of Valorian.
At first, Vallen refused, feeling that his good deeds were more appreciated in Zaun, but his slow mind starting to work on all the opportunities for glory and good deeds an army could provide for him. He still wanted to help his parents, who were still addicted to Craze, but he had found his own addiction, and it was hard to pass up the lure of all the goodness he could spread in the army. After three days, he met with the recruiter again, and he found himself serving in the army of Demacia.
Theme Song: The Riddle, something Vallen will never solve.
I'll put more numbers and equipment on his sheet later; still sorting that stuff out. I know he's going to have a cold-iron warhammer, a longsword, banded armor, and a heavy steel shield, but aside from that, I need to figure out stuff he'll have on his person. He's also going to be going Cudgel Style, choosing to knock-out foes rather than kill them; after all, how are the bad guys going to spread the word of his great deeds if they die?

Yeah, as long as you ONLY use a shield, you may count Shield or weapon focus as two weapon fighting for the purpose of feat prereqs.

Yo! just posting so i have an easier time finding this thread when i need to. Working on more of a support-oriented character that should be a lot of fun.
I'm pretty darn versed in LoL lore (i GM a meatspace campaign of the same sort) and i'm a frequent player of the game. I main botlane, Jinx is bae. MF is second, Sivir and Tristana are old loves (that the meta has forgotten), and Morgana is my go-to support (also my only lvl 7 mastery champ) and one of my favorite champions. Oh yeah Lucian is also really fun but I don't think he's as strong as everyone seems to think. Love his lore though. I've only recently picked up Twitch but he has one of the best VO's in the entire game
FedoraFerret |
Hey Space Duck, would you allow the use of a divine fighting technique even though obviously we don't have the appropriate gods? It's Erastil's, so nothing actually divinely influenced, I just had an idea for a support archer type character who specializes in battlefield control rather than massive damage.
FedoraFerret |
Since his earliest days, Joran has been torn between his love for Demacia, his dream of becoming a ranger-knight, and his reluctance to hurt others. Even when he was an adolescent, learning to use a bow, he had no trouble shooting targets but hesitated at every boar and deer he hunter. He learned to stomach the violence and bloodshed, but vastly prefers nonlethal tactics.

In reality I tend to do best with supports like Naut and Morgana and am currently relishing Gallio's rework preview. If not support I play jungle with Yi or Renegar. Usually I just do ARAM because I rarely have the time for a real game.
Update: I'm relishing Gallio and will probably main him in various roles.

Krypsit, the Mourning Sun
An enigmatic Zaunite never seen without a blazing flame on his grasp. Although his body is forged from cold, unflinching steel, his mind is far from the same.
