Camillo Duin
Forsooth, my lad! I only have eyes for our exotic bar-owner. You'll notice that I took the manacles, but only after your fair lass had been removed. If, however, you wish to have them back, I will ask no questions...
I will make no claim on the shield ring, then, unless nobody wants it, but I can get benefit from it and be loathe to toss it aside.
Rullis Stillman
I would just skim over the shopping and such...
If we divide the ever-burning candles up, that's 4 a piece.
I have no problem with Cam having the force ring. But if no one is going to take it, I'll take it. :)
Speaking of PbP time, I'm running a Legacy of Fire PbP where I started when my wife was pregnant with our first child. The PCs are now 8th level and my son is 3.5 years old. Hopefully we'll be able to finish before he's old enough to want to join the game.
DM Devon
I remember vaguely that a couple of you folks may be closer to the Eastern seaboard. If that is the case, good luck and stay safe!
So here is what I am reading...
Contract with Alderan Foxglove (signed) --> Stay in party treasury. (Who carries?
+1 Studded Leather --> Rullis
+1 dogslicer (short sword) --> Sell
+1 Bastard Sword --> Sell
+1 Vicious Longsword --> Stay in party treasury. (Who carries?)
MW Scimitar --> Sell
6 alchemist orbs (purpose unknown, 2 red, 2 green, 2 black) Stay in party treasury. (Cam has one each color, who has rest?)
2 potions Tree Shape --> ?
2 potions Speak with Animals -->?
1 potion of Barkskin +2 --> ?
3 vials drow poison --> ?
Unidentified magic necklace --> Vidar will identify.
Everburning Torch --> Stay in party treasury. (Who carries?)
24 everburning candles --> Each person gets 4?
4 everburning skull candles --> Sell
1 Ring of Force Shield --> Cam or Rullis
1 Box of Sand (Magic Shielding?) --> Vidar
Vidar identifies the amulet as an amulet of protection +1 w/ the added ability to cast "False Life" once per day as a free action (1d10+10). Note that the amulet is in the shape of the Thassilonian star that has featured so prominently elsewhere.
Camillo Duin
Yes, if you are hunkering down back east, all the best to you and yours!
Rullis gets the shield ring as far as I am concerned. How long is the False Life effect? The +10 implies 10 hours if I recall the spell correctly. I suggest the barbarian consider using it. I think Kithian has the vicious sword. Camillo will carry all the alchemists' orbs if no one wants them, but I think it would be an option for a ranged/back row type.
DM Devon
1.Actually its both +10 HP and 10 hour duration. This was enchanted at max level.
2.Kithian was carrying the vicious sword but Cam was at some other point just to carry it. I wasn't sure if someone planned on using it or caddying it for the party.
3 You have back of the party types? You need to look over your combat logs some time. ;p Vidar getting knocked out doesn't count :p
Camillo Duin
Actually, I was thinking of Rullis, Kerrec, and Vidar. Just because you successfully pull us all into the scrum doesn't belie the fact that those three generally try to stay back and use ranged attacks (or magic). Camillo might consider using the vicious sword if Kithian does not want it, but I think his hp might not be up to the task.
Rullis Stillman
Rullis will take the other three orbs. I'll have to look up what they do again. And adding Ring of Force Shield to my list. Unless someone else wants it, I'll take 1 potion of Tree Shape and 1 potion of Speak with Animals. The other two to Vidar? One of the melee types should take the potion of Barkskin.
Kerrec should carry the Foxglove contract, he's good with those document thingies. Rullis can carry the everburning torch as well, but he is not touching the vicious sword or the poison.
Kerrec Valorian
Man, Sandy was quite a storm. I live about 400 miles northeast from where it made landfall and we still lost all sorts of trees. We haven't had power since 6:30 last night.
Kerrec would provide counsel regarding the poison but others would have to make their own decision about whether they would want to use such a base form substance. ;-)
There's nothing on the list Kerrec would want other than some Everburning candles. He's hoping the party split of gold and Foxglove's next payment will help him improve his armor.
Kithian Darlok
Yeah, if I am moving back to the main front line meat shield with the loss of our samurai friend I will need better armor to keep me alive. Also, I don't need the sword, sell it for profit.
Camillo Duin
I believe I have two tasks - creating an epic for Kerrec to record for our patron and spending all available time with Ameiko. If I can pursue those goals at the same time, it would definitely be a win for Camillo. ;-)
Kerrec Valorian
Kerrec will report his findings to the church, including writing off a report to send to The First Bank in Kaer Maga, and to the sheriff. He will also be studying tomes related to demons and the planes that are kept at the cathedral. If he has the funds he'll try to upgrade his armor. Finally, he will be waiting patiently for Camillo's truly masterful story that he will transcribe for Foxglove.
Vidar Ekstrand
Vidar will want to study to learn new spells, and then he wants to see just what Shalelu had in mind when she mentioned celebrations.
He'll also want to see just how much Kithian will end up drinking, just to record it for posterity.
Kithian Darlok
Kithian will show Reggie off to the black smith, proceed to get stinking drunk and chase any woman in reach, then pass out on the floor. Get up in the afternoon, eat and drink until evening, then proceed to get stinking drunk, chase any woman in reach then pass out on the floor and always hope that the next leap is the leap home.
Or into some womans bed, he is good either way.
Kithian Darlok
Oh I do need a better weapon and armor if we can find them, maybe a magical Falchion and Hide Shirt? I think that is the same as Chain Shirt but cheaper. Maybe something with natural armor also.
Vidar Ekstrand
"He fought a prodigious battle against the dreaded foe of sobriety, decency and common sense. In the end, with valiant and almost leonine strenght he triumphed and spend the rest of the evening face down in a pool of his own vomit."
I MAY have to file a little on that to make it sound a bit more...heroic.
Rullis Stillman
Rullis will spend time at the cathedral, learning and practicing writing scrolls for two days (as stated in my previous post) whenever he is not accompanying the others for visiting officials and merry-making. He'll spend 500 gp of his share of the loot on the scrolls, assuming his share of the loot is high enough.
Vidar Ekstrand
Well, if you are drunk enough, and in a part of town with less than reputable ladies, you might not be able to tell the differance between a midden and a maiden, at least not from the smell or the taste haha.
DM Devon
All told you pull a cool $1000 gold pieces of mixed coins per person with an additional $1500 in credit for use throughout Sandpoint. Ameiko agrees in principle to help you sell all your stuff (which is where you see some greater profit) and this total includes the sale of all items you noted above plus the rewards from the Goblinsquash Stables for the goblin ears.
The next two days pass quickly, with business flowing smoothly and each of you having plenty of time to see people or engage in activities that replenish your hearts/minds/lust for life. The Sheriff is due back on the third day and the Mayor has requested you all meet to finalize comparing notes.
Cam and Ameiko spend time going over the bard's epic while Ameiko finalizes her fathers funeral arrangements. (Set for Day 14) The time is close but not quite intimate in the fullest sense with Toshio lurking at the edges and the stress of funeral planning hanging in the air. Toshio announces that he plans to head East to a remote Tian outpost to send word to the family of all that transpires, and notes that he will return once that task is complete.
Kithian is afforded every opportunity to celebrate and find himself "face down" in a number of interesting scenarios. Das Korvut and the half orc spend much of those two days talking loudly and drinking heavily. By the night of Day 12 Korvut has mentioned to Kithian that he has work for the group if they need something to do after the Sherrif returns and that you all should visit him after your meetings.
Vidar has ample time and resources to scribe spells, make purchases and further his studies as well as celebrate. He does note that the book of Thasillonian knowledge is starting to itch at his brain a little begging for use, but nothing overwhelming at the moment.
Rullis scribes then scribes some more but is easily able to find any one if not all of his companions at any time he emerges from the writing desks of the cathedral.
Kerrec drafts his multiple reports, for the cathedral, the First Vault and for the Sheriff, careful to make not of individual details that might be relevant to each group. Cam sits down and dictates the story and Kerrec is able to capture it perfectly. The cathedral lost many of its tomes on the planes in the fires of a few years ago but some remain and others have come to replace them. Kerrec is able to while away his remaining time easily lost in those pages. (Kno:Planes? What are you trying to figure out?
Let me know how you want to spend your money. Between all the smiths in Sandpoint you can acquire magic arms and armor up to a +2 enchantment modifier at market - 15%. Everything else is a case by case. Any standard item is available from the town at market -20%. Let me know what you all buy. The meeting with Hemlock and the mayor is around 10am so you have a few hours on Day 13 to convene and make you way as a group. Let me know if you want to just jump to that meeting.
Vidar Ekstrand
Btw, now would be a good time to outline what spells Vidar has access to in the caputred spellbook.
Also, I'm a bit unsure of what the credits can be used for, getting ink of spell scribing, components for crafting?
Rullis Stillman
Given the availability of magically enhanced weapons in town, and the trouble that they have recently faced fighting beasts that mundane weapons just did not hurt, Rullis will trade in his fishing spear for a new one that is magically enhanced.
Sell LongSpear - Gain 2.5 gp
Purchase +1 LongSpear: 2305gp x 0.85 = 1960 gp
Purchase Scroll Case: 1gp x 0.80 = 8 sp
Scribe 6 Level-2 scrolls: 75 x 6 = 450 gp x 0.80 = 360 gp (swapping one of the Lesser Restorations for a Silence)
Scribe 2 Level-1 scrolls: 12.5 x 2 = 25 gp x 0.80 = 20 gp
1960 + 0.8 + 360 + 20 - 2.5 = 2323.3 gp spent
That's about all of his funds. Leaves him 176 gp and 7 sp left from his share of the loot. Needs to start saving for a new Cure Light Wand.
Character sheet updated with new spell selections.
Kerrec Valorian
Would Toshio be willing to repay the loan Kerrec gave him before he leaves for parts unknown? I believe it was 575 gold. That would make it so Kerrec wouldn't have to purchase his a new armor on a portion credit. He's looking to upgrade to +1 Scale Mail.
He'a also looking to have a holy symbol of Abadar carved into his crossbow with the name "Swift Judgment". Not sure what the cost for that would be.
DM Devon
One way or another (Be it Toshio or his sister) Kerrec gets his funds back. As to the carving...artisan work is usually charged in silvers per hour but the nature of the tools to modify a magical weapon would be problematic...lets say...25gp
Haversack 1 in 3 (3): 1d3 ⇒ 3
Cam is in luck a Haversack is available.
Kerrec Valorian
So I will purchase +1 Scale Mail for 1200GP, 100 Crossbow bolts for 5GP and 25GP for artisan work on crossbow for a total of 1230GP in purchases.
Oh and regarding the study of demons its more of a role-playing thing to justify putting points in knowledge areas when he levels up.
Camillo Duin
Other than a bit more shopping, Camillo plans to be at the 'Dragon hanging out with Ameiko and performing.
Perform (sing): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Perform (sing): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Perform (sing): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Perform (sing): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

See invisibility 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Spider climb 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Hmmm, succes on one 1st lv spell and two 2nd lv spells, that's 90 gold so far.
Vidar Ekstrand
Masterwork Backpack
10 Iron vials
Pocket watch
2 scroll cases
2 Shaving kit
5 bars of soap
10 Stove can
Whistle
Abacus
Cooking kit
50 cups of tea
That's a little under 360 gp, I'll deduct 400, never hurts to grease the wheels a little.

Fear: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Chill Touch: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Scare: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Wow, that was not very good, only got two.
Camillo Duin
Dumb questions, but I can't find it in my search - did we ever search Tsuto's body? I can't remember if we found thieves' tools on him - I know a character of mine did in another game, but can't even find that we checked him over this time with the fight being in the street and all. Question #2 - what type of manacle was Shalelu being held with? Standard or Masterwork?
#3 - I'm assuming that the extra equipment that Camillo has all got sold - MW Ranseur, heavy steel shield, etc.
I'm looking at Camillo picking up some alchemical items, maybe, but not a lot. Every time I get far enough into the list to find what I need, I run out of time, sorry.
DM Devon
1.You didn't really, you ended up taking it to Ameiko pretty much straight away (you got distracted by Orik too).
2. Standard. Goblins w/ MW Manacles who we kidding? :p
3. I did not assume the sale of Cam's other things in the final totals like the Ranseur and what not so let me know what you want to do
4. Feel free to hand wave and grab whatever. As we move into the the meeting with he mayor its not like you can't figure it out and say "oh yeah I bought some of those." I promise Hemlock won't attack you for at least a couple of real world days so you have time to figure it out.
@Vidar: Ouch on the goblin's book. But good job on the other. You are practically a walking library now.
I am ready to start the meeting w/ the Sheriff whenever you guys are. Sorry I have been a little spotty on the posting the last week plus, things have been sorta crazy.
Vidar Ekstrand
I'm good to go on.
I figure there are a few days between what we have been doing and the meeting, so if I need a day or two to do something I can take it retroactively.
And yeah, bad on spells, but they were mostly Necromancy anyway. And Vidar HAS to be a walking library if he is to become a Loremaster (which is still the way I'm leaning for now).
