Yes fear effect, yes the paladin is immune but they always are *gives a dismissive hand wave at Kerrec* Kithian will get the bonus. Camillo is panicked aaannnddd...
2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5
So any of you (and by "you" I mean Camillo ;p) on the top floor will not need to "flee" as you have no idea where that came from (save from downstairs in general). To that end per the rules you can "act as normal" but note that you are still shaken for the duration of the effect. (Which is the next 5 rounds for Cam) Note Camillo that if you are confronted with the source of your fear in the next 5 rounds THEN you would flee.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
1d20 + 1 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 1 + 4 + 2 = 24
Shalelu's skin turns to ash as the hound bays in the fort, seeming to succumb to her fear. (She is also shaken) Vidar in the meantime pops awake, eyes wide and instinctively turning on his side to dryly wretch as the poison wears off.
Cam
Rullis (--> Going downstairs...waiting for Toshio?)
Vidar
Shalelu
Toshio (--> Going Downstairs, right?)
Rullis Stillman
Seeing Camillo hesitate, Rullis calls back as he heads for the stairs, "Camillo, keep an eye on Vidar." Assuming Toshio is heading down too, he'll let the swordsman take the lead. Otherwise, he charges down the staircase by himself.
DM Devon
Uhm noo....
Toshio disappears as he drinks the potion. You are now invisible. Though it is plain that he is still present as his words Let's go echo through the chamber.
Rullis and Toshio make their way downstairs to find the carnage filled room below. Doors lead in every direction though a hallway to the west lies open with another goblin body there in while a doorway to the north leads to an elongated hallway that ends with Kithian and Kerrec and is currently inhabited by a yeth hound.
Upstairs, Cam and Shalelu work to get the unresponsive Vidar to his feet. He appears conscious but has yet to speak or move of his own volition. *cough cough* :p
Kithian and Kerrec.
Vidar Ekstrand
Vidars eyes slowly comes into focus as he recognices the people around him, he smiles weakly at Shalelu and nods at Camillo before wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
"What a dirty trick...is the bastard dead? What about Orik?"
Toshio Kaijitsu
Toshio is a little surprised at his invisibility, but knew the Hob wasn't about to drink something that wasn't beneficial. He also knew such things didn't last long so he charges the last Yeth Hound.
Invisible Charge PA vs Flatfooted1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 8 - 1 = 25
PA Damage1d8 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 3 = 14
Critical Confirmation roll1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 8 - 1 = 14
PA Damage1d8 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 3 = 15
DM Devon
Kithian explodes from the doorway and charges the hound as Kerrec fires. The bolt lands light but true, the Yeth's supernatural defenses protecting it from lesser harms while the barbarian's sword falls wide of his mark. Toshio charges from his position and meets Kithian in a flank erupting from nowhere as the invisibility is dispelled. The katana falls true though its edge seems blunted somehow. Toshio was sure he might have made a critical blow but the hound seems merely wounded, and not as much as he might have guessed give then power and precision of the blow.
Rullis, Vidar, Cam
Rullis Stillman
If my character would know that he'd need silver to fight this creature, he'd drop his spear and draw his silver dagger. Otherwise, he'd just charge with his long spear keeping 10 feet away. If there is no room to charge, he'll just move to an open position and attacked without charging.
Rullis seeing the others in trouble, throws all sensibility out the window and charges in, his spear (or dagger) ready to pierce the strange beast.
Charging Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 2 = 22 (Remove 2 for no charge)
If using Longspear, Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
If using Silver Dagger, Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
I guess the damage gods don't like me today.
Camillo Duin
Sorry, I missed that.
Camillo gets the gear removed from the female mage and shares them with Vidar. "What do you make of these? Anything you can use? For that matter, I haven't looked at them - maybe I can use some of them."
DM Devon
Eat Toshio Go! -->1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
REALLY?!?
How anti-climactic.
Kithain continues his fight against the hound and brings his blade down solidly on the beast. Kerrec's bolt flies wide in the chaos. The hound sensing danger from in front and behind wheels on Toshio with snapping teeth which completely miss the samurai who then brings his blade down ending the creatures life.
Cam and Vidar?
Camillo Duin
"Orik's a big guy. Anywhere we move him to, we'll have to move him back. Unless we have a place to hide him, we could make him comfortable right here."
Cam's up here until he hears someone calling for help downstairs or his shaken condition wears off. Besides, he's the only unpoisoned member of the party on the top floor. He might be chicken, but he's probably where he should be.
Rullis Stillman
Putting his dagger away and heading back for his spear, "We were jumped by a wizard woman and several more goblins. Vidar was poisoned. We need to find a way out of here quickly. I'm not equipped to handle all this poison." He looks around at Kerrec and Kithian, evaluating their condition...
Kerrec Valorian
Kerrec, if my memory serves me correctly, has not been injured since we were seperated so still down only 1HP. I think Kithian might be somewhat chewed though.
"Poison.... A dishonorable tactic if there ever is one. If you can lead us back to them, we can discuss what to do from here."
DM Devon
So at this point I will assume in the course of the next few seconds/minute the group reconvenes upstairs under an orderly withdrawal. (Obviously there are still goblins and the bugbear somewhere downstairs, at least two about off the large hall and the bugbear and others in the northwest corner of the second floor.)
Camillo Duin
"Yeah, let's move him to the chief's room. I think I can horse him over there - can you carry my sword and shield?"
Camillo will attempt to remove easily removed gear from the fighter and pull him up into a fireman's carry.
Rullis Stillman
With the group reconvened, Rullis will be healing those less fortunate than Kerrec, starting with himself.
Wand of Cure Light Wounds on Rullis: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Nice...
Wand of Cure Light Wounds on Rullis: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 Puts Rullis at full.
Wand of Cure Light Wounds on Kithian: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Wand of Cure Light Wounds on Kithian: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
That leaves 41 charges remaining on the wand... How injured was Kithian? I was keeping track, but my list got out of date. Anyone else need healing? How about Reggie? I have him down 6 HPs.
Rullis Stillman
Seeing the wounds done by that poisoned blade wielding hobgoblin, Rullis takes his attention to the samurai. "Are you feeling any effects of the poison as well?"
Wand of Cure Light Wounds on Toshio: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Wand of Cure Light Wounds on Toshio: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Wand of Cure Light Wounds on Toshio: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Brings Toshio to full. 38 charges remain.
Rullis Stillman
Rullis glances at Camillo, accessing his condition when Vidar indicates he's hurt. He tends to the wizard before returning to Mr. Duin.
Wand of Cure Light Wounds on Vidar: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 What is with this rolling 1 the first time every time?
Wand of Cure Light Wounds on Camillo: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Wand of Cure Light Wounds on Camillo: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Though I thought Vidar was back to full HPs while down, but just still under the influence of the poison. If so, then that measly 2 can go to Camillo as well to put him to full.
EDIT:
In this post Vidar was hit for 7 points (and down due to poison). In this post you were healed for 7 points. Unless there was previous injury...
Camillo Duin
Rullis With a rueful grin, the bard says, "My thanks to you and to the Wind and the Waves, friend. I didn't realize they'd hit me so hard."
Vidar "Anything interesting?"
Those that went downstairs "What did you find downstairs? And what was that infernal insert involuntary shudder here howling all about?"
Toshio Kaijitsu
Any further delays.will only increase thier preparedness. This Nualia is already in haste to complete whatever she is doing. We have defeated thier wizard and a number of valueable troops. We are all well, more or less. Let's press the assault.
