Minerva steps forwards and sprays two shots towards the mutant in front of her, pulling her pistol around to pump the second shot towards the mutant in front of Praetia

Your Humble Narrator

Note- you only confirm righteous fury against your BASE BS (unmodified by range, type of firing etc.)- fortunately for you with pistols that is 53 exactly so it confirms. It all made sense :) will update presently.

The first bolt shell goes directly into the mutant's eye, passing through the eyeball with surgeon-like precision and exploding inside the mutant's skull- disintegrating his head and also causing the body to fall apart from the devestating shot in a truly horrific death, the body utterly reduced to a crimson mist. The unspeakably appalling manner of the mutant's death means all other mutants within two metres must make a +0 WP test or flee from Minerva.

Note that you hit critical effect number 10 even without the RF! Will resolve the other wound before I resolve that...

Minerva's second shot takes one of Praetia's attackers in the head, and the mutant staggers back in pain but is able to continue fighting. Nearly all of the mutants drop their clubs and turn to flee on their next action in sheer terror of Minerva doing the same to them, even the gigantic mutant with the hammer.

Hand stares into the face of the largest monsters that he could imagine.

Even through the Void Suit, he is sure he can smell the twisted corruption coming off the creature through the pea green haze of his Void Suits vision.

It is death that has come for him with the huge hammer to ring the bell of destruction.

Hand sees Death.

And Death blinks.

Seeing the large mutant flee, Jerol takes aim and pulls the trigger.

I shoot the large mutant, thats under 99 to hit with the -10

1d100 ⇒ 92

It hits...barely. Roll for damage!

1d10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Jerol twitches at the last second, the shot barely hitting the large mutant and leaving a small wound in its left arm.

Your Humble Narrator

Sorry if you are around to post Praetia, not entirely sure at the moment.

Hand continues his defensive stance, and Lion finally snaps out of his daze, only to promptly miss again.

Jerol scores a glancing shot with his long-las on the massive mutant, but it barely flinches.

Just in front of him, Havelock unleashes more bolter fury- his first shot's explosion sending the target sprawling to the ground, stunning him and inflicting 1d5 ⇒ 3 levels of fatigue. You don't think the mutant is going to recover in time to aid his remaining allies. The next mutant in the hail is badly wounded by the bolt but is still able to fight, while the mutant shot in the arm collapses from fatigue dealt by his wounds. The final shot hits the mutant behind in the head, seriously injuring him but not taking him out of the fight.[/i]

Praetia brandishes her chainsword, hacking into the closest mutant's right arm with the teeth of her blade. The attack slices clean through the arm and into the torso, drenching the ground in blood and gore and killing the target instantly.

Praetia we both missed something about the chainsword- it has the Tearing quality like a bolter so you roll 2d10 and take the higher dice roll for damage :).

1d100 ⇒ 31
2d10 + 5 ⇒ (9, 4) + 5 = 18 (14 damage)

Panicked at the appalling violence Minerva caused, several of the mutant's courage falters and they begin to flee from the battle, retreating half a dozen metres before rallying their wits and readying themselves to re-enter combat next round.

A single mutant is left attacking the captain of the Dynasty, and he continues to attempt to club Thale into submission- his next blow not striking Thale's head with enough force to have any chance to knock him out.

1d100 ⇒ 57 Failed WS to stun

Praetia's only remaining foe, an unwounded mutant, swings his club at her with abandon, abandoning any semblance of defence to make an all-out attack. Praetia's excellent quality flak armour and her innate toughness let her shrug off the blow.

1d100 ⇒ 41 Hit
1d10 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 0 damage to Praetia

Behind the barricade, the two flanking mutants leap over the pipe and end their turn mere metres away from Lion and Jerol. One of the mutants Havelock fired at scales the barricade and swings his club at the Explorator. In his carapace armour, Havelock would have laughed off the blow, but in his void suit he feels the sting of the club's force.

Unless he makes a dodge test of course- you didn't use your reaction for logis implant this round.

1d100 ⇒ 6 Hit, body
1d10 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 5 damage to Havelock

Hand's only melee combatant remaining swings for him again with the club, growling menacingly as he assaults the bodyguard. The club hits, and bounces off the tough bodyguard.

1d100 ⇒ 25 Hit, body (despite the -20WS, hes all out-attacking)
1d10 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 0 damage to Hand

Three of the gunners move to point blank range of Havelock and fire their stub revolvers at him. Despite the range, firing into a melee causes the scum to miss.

1d100 ⇒ 60
1d100 ⇒ 45
1d100 ⇒ 73

One of the remaining revolver users pauses to reload his gun, while the other two take careful aim at the suddenly exposed Lion. One of them manages a shot that strikes through the barricade and hits Lion; but his xeno-mesh armour protects him from any harm.

Jerol hears noises behind him, he spins around to see two mutants rushing towards him. He takes aim and fires at the closest mutant to him.

The shot slams into the mutants leg causing pain to shoot through his body.

The mutant gains 1d5 ⇒ 3 levels of fatigue

The impact of the shot, coupled with the unbalanced nature of the mutant, cause his leg to be taken out from under him and he slammed into the ground, the momentum of his run immediately transferred to his face as he crashes into the floor. The force of him hitting the floor causes him to fall unconscious.

Havelock debates for a moment what to do, but eventually he realizes he has little choice, he drops the bolter, ducks down, grabs the hilt of the power axe resting against his feet and sweets it up in a crackling arc.

Attack Roll (36+5-10):1d100 ⇒ 91

Sadly, his fatigue once more tells a tale of defeat as his attack is completely inaccurate.

"My flesh fails me..."

Lion having recovered from the shock of the mutant swarm decides it is time to end this rabble and teach them why none should think to put their stinking hands on a Benetek.

Lion reaches into his mind and begins to open the third eye as he calls out; 'In the name of the great Saint Sanguinius, I cleanse these decks with thine living blood. The fires of corruption, set fire to the heretics heart. Let the nuts, bolts, and all creation burn with the purifying fire of the ever lasting beacon of the Emperor of all mankind'

With the fires of the warp flowing through him, Lion hopes his companions remember not to stare into his third eye.

Lidless Stare:

This is a cone attack that sweeps out for 15m. With the warning given, allies in the cone get a +30 to their roll to avoid the effects of the stare. The damage is not reduced by Armour or Toughness. It is an opposed roll.

Lion will try to shift 1m closer to Havelock on the map to try and have the cone avoid his companions but still bathe the mutants and abomination in the light. The stare does not affect Untouchables and Demons. pg 180

WP roll for lidless stare 1d100 ⇒ 95

A 95? I'm going to spend my last re-roll on that roll. 1d100 ⇒ 7

A 7 is much better and is 2 degrees of success.

Damage is 1d10+3 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Anyone taking damage is also stunned for 1 round.

Lion takes 1 level of fatigue for passing the WP roll and that is equal to toughness and he passes out for 10 min.

I get to force one person to re-roll their test roll. If a companion would get bathed and needs the re-roll then I'll give it to them first and second use will be to make sure the big abomination fails the roll if it might pass.

The fires of creation flows through Lion to rip through the flesh of the mutant horde.

Your Humble Narrator

Ok... Here is the cone which will hit almost every mutant left as well as Hand, Thale and Minerva.

Link-Link

Feel free to read Lion's Lidless Stare spoiler which explains the details- but as your in the cone you need to make a willpower test and equal or beat Lion's two degrees of success to not take the damage- 7 points of damage which ignores toughness and armour, and will stun you for one round. You get a +30 bonus on this willpower test due to Lion's warning, but the power of his warp eye is persuasive and your naturally inclined to stare into it... So- lets see willpower tests for Minerva, Thale and Hand; Lion has a single re-roll he can give to one of you if you fail. If you end up not passing your WP test by two degrees or more, take 7 wounds of damage- and let me know what wound that puts you on. Thale, I have you on one wound so if you don't manage to make this test Thale will be taking a critical effect... I will resolve the enemy's (comical- thay have TERRIBLE willpower) attempts to resist the power after we've resolved what happens to Hand, Minerva and Thale.

Thale has seen Lion's stare before and even in his fuddled and near catanotic state retains enough awareness to not gaze at the navigator as he glares at the mutants.

If possible, Havelock would rather drag the unconcious Lion to the square to the upper left of Jerol, getting him out of the way. Havelock would then stand in the square just to the left of Jerol to act as a shield. If that's not ok then yes he would have fired the bolter again, and emptied it too.

Praetia then takes a wild swing at the mutant near to her.

All-Out Chainsword Attack:
38+5+20=63 1d100 ⇒ 98
Failed!

The after-image from the Warp effect causes Praetia to misjudge the distance and completely misses her target.

Your Humble Narrator

@Havelock- As its all your doing for the round you can hold onto your bolter.

Sorry for the slow update I have an exam tomorrow.

The mutant that crept around to flank loses his nerve somewhat as his allies are butchered, and he decides to engage the wounded and already under attack Praetia instead of rushing Havelock and Jerol. He vaults up onto the barricade and swings his club down at her, totally missing her by several inches as she moves around in her melee. The ally he came to assist also blunders his attempt to bludgeon her to death despite the numerical advantage.

1d100 ⇒ 87
1d100 ⇒ 76

The only other mutant that is able to act is the hulking brute, who somehow shrugged off the debilitating effects of peering into the Warp. He charges Minerva, aiming a decent blow with his oversized hammer that thunders towards her leg with tremendous force...

1d100 ⇒ 57 Hit, right leg.
2d10 + 6 ⇒ (3, 9) + 6 = 18

Minerva takes fifteen wounds of damage to the right leg (after subtracting toughness bonus) unless she is able to make either a Dodge test or a Parry test. She will be reduced to 0 wounds and take a critical effect (see below). The size of the mutant's weapon makes it difficult to parry- you take a -10 to your parry attempt should you choose to do so.

If Minerva Is Hit:

You now have 0 wounds and have 5 critical damage to your right leg. The effect is- 'In a spray of blood the targets leg is opened up, exposing bone, sinew and muscle. The target takes 1d5 levels of fatigue and halves his movement for 1d10 hours.

Minerva and Thale are up...

Minerva ducks underneath the mutant's wild swing, bringing her forearm powerblade around to parry the low attack. As the powerblade swings downward the momentum of the mutant's strike forces the huge hammer into the powerfield and, with a silken razor-like sigh the head is cut clean away from the haft and bounces, noisily into the shadows.

In reply Minerva's pistol comes up but the shot flies wide as she is forced to shift awkwardly to avoid the head of the mutant's hammer as it bounces away.

Good luck on the exam! - Difficult subject?

Your Humble Narrator

It was not a hard subject because a lot of my personal interests were included (lots on DRM, Digital Watermarking and Piracy which I am outspoken about-)- I didn't attend the lectures all semester but I crammed on sunday/monday and I think I aced it. He knew there was no way that he could take the brute on singly and he didn't have the blessed marvels of his betters to aid him in such an unequal contest.

He did have a shock glove and his presence could help harass the brute and give an opening for either of Trader's protectors to deliver a devastating blow.

Hand is limited to a half action; so, he'll move up to flank of the creature to help increase numbers on the mutant and maybe get a modifier though two to one or three to one on the mutant.

Remember the dice roll is reversed to determine hit location- an 8 on the dice is effectively 08 on d100 so its reversed to 80; the right arm (which seems to be a very common hit location :P). Awesome damage though!

The mutant reels back from the bolt Havelock fires, only to have a shock glove rammed at it. Roaring its defiance at Hand, Praetia's chainsword is plunged into its chest, the vengeful Missionary lifting the whirring blade through the giant's gut and through vital organs. The brute lifts its right arm to make one massive, final blow when Minerva takes careful aim and sends a bolt right into the brute's shoulder, blowing the arm clean off as the hulking mutant swings its body, looks at its missing arm in confusion, and then finally collapses from its multitude of blows. The other mutants manage to flee back down the corridor, but you hear death cries as boarding parties of eager crewmen unleash their las pistols against the survivors.

Within a couple of minutes, a party of armsmen has reached you, saluting sharply. By this time, Thale has regained his wits, and the captain of the party of armsmen addresses you.

My lords, the boarding parties have met only token resistance throughout the vessel and expect to have the ship mostly secured in a matter of minutes. Your orders?

"Someone see to the Navigator, take him back to the Void Wolf so that he may recuperate, make sure that he is show every courtesy and comfort."

Havelock begins to reload his bolter after retrieving his poweraxe, he cannot help but occasionally glancing with something like naked awe at Praetia. "She never broke, never flinched, her flesh never tired, there must be something there...maybe..."
Lost in contemplation, Havelock falls silent.

Hopefully Havelock didn't overstep his bounds too much by giving out that order.

As the highest echelons of the Dynasty, your words are law, except perhaps when the Rogue Trader or your fellows are opposed to you. Thale are you still with us?

The officer has a stretcher prepared, treating the fallen Lion with a great deal of respect as he is borne away by a pair of burly armsmen. Hand, having cleaned some of the vomit out of his helmet, accompanies his master.

Note- the ship is now aired. Void suits are no longer necessary.

A team is currently ready and awaiting orders to blow open the door to the bridge. The team have been unable to establish any contact with anyone still inside.

"I suggest they wait with that until we are in a position to join them, I for one wants to be there when those doors open."

Having reloaded his bolter, looks around the life support chamber.
"Someone clean this place up, no shrine of the Omnisiah should be left in such a state, even if the ship is beyond saving."

Thanks for clearing that out."

Yes, Explorator.

Orders are rapidly barked over a vox-caster, although some orders have to be clarified multiple times, the crew not being used to being treated like a makeshift military. Within a minute, the armsmen are ready to accompany you to the bridge as an escort. The crew look on at you all with respect, taking in the carnage of the room, the huge piles of bodies and the two massive corpses of oversized mutants.

Please raise the morale of the Void Wolf's crew by one!

Breathing heavily as the adrenaline of battle leaves her system Minerva retracts the powerblade extending from her left arm and carefully reloads her bolt pistols before replacing them in the holsters on the small of her back. That done, she returns to her customary station next to the Rogue Trader, seemingly unaware of the splatters of blood decorating her scarred face. Taking her carapace armour from the armsman she unabashedly strips off her void-suit slipping into her customary synth-leather clothing and attaches the carapace around her torso, ready in case of further attack.
