If no one posts any serious shopping plans or discusses their plans on assaulting the tower, I'm going to move plot along and just plop you on its doorstep tomorrow night, lol.
I just don't want the game to bog down during shopping/planning. This took nearly an entire night at my RL game and it was painful to be a part of, don't want that here.

Ankih Tohep |

Ankih's idea of a plan is pretty much to agree, verbally , with the fighter types, then heal 'em up afterword.

Ankih Tohep |

cool. wasn't really thinking that, but might be subconsciously doing it. I liked that movie.

Kalt Ìsson |

I don't want to belabor the planning process either, I'm a bit busy and would only slow things down.
We get Avora's sight back - then do we dress up as guards and try to bluff our way in? Or sneak over the wall somehow?

Kalt Ìsson |

Gil makes some good points - potions would be good. Some CLW, vermin repellant, alchemist fire all sound good.
What are the limitations on what you can make and how many, Gil? I am not very familiar with the alchemist class.

Gilganis Felspar |

I can make any potion that I have in my formula book, so I have access to the following:
Ant Haul
Comprehend Languages
Crafter's Fortune
Cure Light Wounds
Disguise Self
Endure Elements
Enlarge Person
Expeditious Retreat
Identify
Shield
He can also learn spells from wizard spellbooks to make potions for, but we don't have a wizard, just a screwy gnome who somehow manages to cast spells without needing to prepare them. Pure insanity.
For Alchemical Items, he can make daily craft checks and the total he can create would depend on if he passes a skill check. He does have Swift Alchemy, which means he can create an item in half the time. Usually this means making two items of the same type with each successful daily craft check, but the GM can alter this as desired.
For example, Alchemist Fire has a base value of 20gp. So you convert the value to sp for crafting, or 200sp. He then makes a skill check against the DC to create. Alchemist Fire is a DC 20. To see if he succeeds it would be (Craft Check Result)x(DC 20) and if the result was 200 or higher (200sp) then he crafted the item.
Example:
Craft Alchemy Check: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
20 result x 20 DC = 400
So with that result he would have succeeded, since 400sp is higher than the 200sp base price.
He has to pay 1/2 of the base price for materials to make alchemical items or potions.

Gilganis Felspar |

As far as potions go, he can make 4-5 level 1 potions per day, at half of the book price, per the Brew Potion feat.
Brew Potion (Item Creation)
You can create magic potions.
Prerequisite: Caster level 3rd.
Benefit: You can create a potion of any 3rd-level or lower spell that you know and that targets one or more creatures or objects. Brewing a potion takes 2 hours if its base price is 250 gp or less, otherwise brewing a potion takes 1 day for each 1,000 gp in its base price. When you create a potion, you set the caster level, which must be sufficient to cast the spell in question and no higher than your own level. To brew a potion, you must use up raw materials costing one half this base price.
When you create a potion, you make any choices that you would normally make when casting the spell. Whoever drinks the potion is the target of the spell.

Kalt Ìsson |

Well, these potions would all come in handy: CLW, Disguise Self (thought mostly if we're trying to bluff our way in to the tower), Shield (Kalt would love this), and possibly Enlarge Person, though it's a mixed blessing in melee.
We have four days - how about you make some craft checks, see how many you get, and we'll decide what we want? It's a bit meta, but it could easily represent Gil working on potions, seeing how things are going over time, and prioritizing certain potions over others as he makes better or worse progress - if Mez agrees with that line of thinking...
( I'm sure we'd all pitch in on costs.)

Kalt Ìsson |

I do believe you've told me that before, Sven. Hrmph.

Kalt Ìsson |

Kalt - maybe Sven will forget one day if we keep trying to do it.
We can hope, Bugsby. But there's a reason we call him DM Hope Crusher in our Second Darkness campaign.

Gilganis Felspar |

You can't make potions of personal spells.
Actually, just wait till next level when Gilganis gets his next alchemist discovery and selects "Infusion". He can then give his extracts to other people to use. Then you WILL be able to have potions of personal spells. :)

Kalt Ìsson |

I'll track those down, Sven.

Kalt Ìsson |

Troll loot: +1 spear of manhunting, 4 potions of feather step, treasures of gemstones and jewelry totaling 2100 gp, and in coins: 2457 GP, 3313 sp, and 1760 cp
I didn't see a loot post for Volan and company.

GM Mezegis |

They did not have much. Mundane longswords and crossbows, scale mail, some light shields. About 15 GP total among the dead guards. Volan himself had masterwork longsword and a spiked shield, scalemail and 24 GP.
Not sure which stuff you gave them to use when you sent them away.
You have about 2.5 days to craft if you do want to make items.

Sven Bjornson |
Okay, I'll post some payouts when I get home. It's looking like ~1300 gold for Gilganis, Sven, Kalt, and Bugsby. Avora and Ankih both got very expensive items so no gold this time.

Bugsby Featherfoot |

So how about we make/buy
- 4-5 Alchemists Fire at least
- 2-3 CLW
- Add stuff you/we want here.
Bugsby will put up all his $ or split with those who want to/can pitch in. What's the cost on the above Gil?

Sven Bjornson |
Okay, home and roast is in the oven.
Kalt, Sven, Gilganis, and Bugsby
1325.6 gold
Ankih
Yeti Fur Cloak
Avora
Manhunting Spear +1

Gilganis Felspar |

Honestly, I should not get a split of your loot. I started with WBL for a level 3 character, so I am good. You all should split that amount between yourselves at this point.
As far as what I can make on the list Bugsy mentioned. In 2.5 days I should be able to make:
- 4 Alchemist Fire
- 3 Potion of CLW
Or:
- 2 Alchemist Fire
- 6 Potion of CLW
Gilganis already has 4 alchemist fires and a number of other alchemical items that I started with, and I can share those with the party if potions seem like the better route until we can get a wand of CLW.

Sven Bjornson |
Oh, I didn't know Gilganis came in so wealthy!
In that case:
Kalt, Sven, Gilganis, and Bugsby
1788.8 gold
Ankih
Yeti Fur Cloak
Avora
Manhunting Spear +1

Kalt Ìsson |

I'm good with either approach on the potion mixing - thanks for figuring it out. And thanks for the loot tally, Sven! If only we had somewhere to spend it all...
As to Bugsby turning blue - it's not what he's really after, but he seems quite adept at turning blue whenever we're out in the wintry weather and he has to make Fort saves - though I suppose that's cold comfort to him.

Kalt Ìsson |

It is 750 gp, and would make a ton more sense if we could find one. And several of the party could use it (Gil, Ankih, Kalt, Sven, Avora - everyone but Bugsby, in fact!), depending how Mez rules on things like rangers using CLW wands before they can actually cast spells.

GM Mezegis |

Bugsby has UMD, so even he can use it, just not as easily.
There are places to spend that money, you just haven't sought them out.
Kalt will be able to use the wand freely once he gains his spellcasting ability, not before.
CLW wands are 750. In my home game they PC's returned to Heldren and went to Oppara (the capital) to buy a wand and a few items before jumping into the portal. In Waldsby, the chances of finding a wand of that nature are slim.

Kalt Ìsson |

I've taken 36 gp off of Kalt's gold total, to account for his 1/6th of the cost of Gil's brewing.
I don't see anything in the potentially available magic items that call out to me, but I'd be happy to keep Volan's MW longsword.

Sven Bjornson |
Well the spear and the cloak are being used. We have ~5k in liquid funds. We could buy one of those items but it would bankrupt us and we'd still have at least a partially undergeared party. It seems like we'd be better served holding onto our coin and waiting until we get somewhere a bit more friendly so that everyone can get some gear.
Kalt or Bugsby, does the belt or armor interest you? If not, I say we move on and siege the tower. I feel like we're stalling for nothing right now.
Edit: Correction. Not quite nothing since reading Bugsby's magical theorem is hilarious.

Kalt Ìsson |

I don't see anything in the potentially available magic items that call out to me, but I'd be happy to keep Volan's MW longsword.
That's still my view - any issues with me keeping the sword. Aside from that, I'm ready to go, with one minor question. Did we determine who is carrying the various brews Gil produced? I'd be happy to have some fire.

Kalt Ìsson |

On the approach, how about those of us who could pass as guards (Kalt, Sven, maybe Ankih and Avora?) approach the gate with the rest under guard, like we're delivering captives to the Tower?
Or we wait until night and see about climbing over - but then the fey will be able to see and most of the rest of us won't.

Sven Bjornson |
I like the first plan but Bugsby is our only person who's any good at bluffamancy, he'll have to really play up the battered prisoner angle.
This is your chance to win that Hammy award Bugsby!
