"Yes, they did a splendid job. I feel much better thank you. I am famished though." Arya looks over to Ameiko and tries to get her attention. "Good morning Ameiko! Could I possibly get some of your delicous food?"
Ameiko looks over as you call her name, and nods, putting a hand up signifying to give her just a moment. She turns back into the kitchen, disappears, and then comes back out with a plate of food, bringing it out to you. "Glad to see you up and about. You seemed like you've had much better days than yesterday for sure."
"Thank you so much. Yes, it was not the best of days, but they healed me up and I slept so comfortably." Arya responds as she happily digs into her meal.
"Yesterday certainly seemed out of the ordinary to me personally, but oh well I suppose. The good news is that we made through it and we can keep moving forward." Satinder responds with.
"And I'll take that kind of good news over any kind of other news, especially if it's the bad kind of news." Theodric says, patting Satinder on the back as he makes his way up to the counter.
"Well to be completely honest Mr. de Lura, the fact that you almost seemingly died yesterday afternoon would make one think that any kind of news was supposedly good news." Melathiel quickly adds as she approaches behind Theodric. "May we both inquire about a morning meal as well Ms. Kaijitsu?" she asks before Ameiko can leave.
"Absolutely you can, give me just a few moments and I'll be right back." Ameiko replies as she heads to the kitchen once again, and then returns shortly after with two plates, setting them on the counter. "As much as I would love to converse with you guys, I need to get a few things done. Maybe later this evening we can talk?" as she rushes off.
Letting out a soft sigh, Satinder turns towards Theodric. "Well it is a good thing that you were able to make it through the night after almost dying. I would almost go so far as to say you have some incredible luck there."
"I wouldn't say it was luck at all." Theodric quickly snaps back. "Luck is for those who don't know what they're doing. Just because you all thought I was gonna die didn't mean that I was actually going to be dead."
Arya gives a soft chuckle, "So what are you saying? That it was fate or destiny that you survived? Or just pure power of will?"
Chuckling, Theodric looks back at her. "I'd like to think more along the lines that goblins ain't gonna take me down. I'm not saying that I'm a god or anything, don't get me wrong. But some little horrifically disfigured, over sized rodent won't be my death."
"Well if you fight them one on one, that may be the case. Try taking on a hunting party though and tell me the same thing..." Satinder replies back before taking a drink from his mug.
Theodric starts to laugh at the remark. "Well obviously you wouldn't take on the whole tribe. Who'd even be stupid enough to do something like that? If you wanna die trying to be hero in a dumb move, be my guest. You won't find me doing so though."
"Because surely there would be no glamour or glory in attempting an action such as that..." Satinder says, turning back around to the counter.
"Gentleman please, there is no need for this kind of bickering. Yesterday was not a pleasant day, there is no disputing that." Melathiel says, stepping in. "There are plenty of other ways to look at certain things in life, so please just let it be and move forward. Besides, it just makes you look childish, arguing over such things."
Arya looks over to the men. " There is no glamour or glory in death, and I wouldn't underestimate your opponent just because they seem to be less than you. You have no idea what others are capable of given the right circumstances, but I'd have to agree with her. There's no point in arguing such things." She then looks to the elf woman with a smile. "I don't believe we've been properly introduced. My name is Arya Drottningu."
Melathiel extends her hand out. "I do believe that you are correct in that regard. A pleasure to meet you Ms. Drottningu. I am Melathiel Arealoth. Mr. de Lura here is my business partner, as we travel around, completing various contracts. Mostly things such as traveling accompaniment. Some one will want some guarded transport, and Mr. de Lura here offers any kind of martial prowess if needed. Myself, I take over any kind of arcane dealings that may or may not be required." she finishes saying as she pats the leather bound book hanging off her side. Looking at the other man sitting there, she extends a hand out as well. "And you sir? Excuse me if I am too forward here, but you seem fairly tall for a half elf. Unless your ears have not fully developed?"
Reaching back out towards her, Satinder smiles. "Satinder Coric, a pleasure to meet you as well Ms. Aeraloth. And no, I do not believe that to be too forward. My mother is human, and my father an elf, however I've never met him. As far as my height goes, yes, I will agree that I am taller than most."
"Ah yes, I remember Theodric mentioning he had a partner yesterday. It's nice to meet you as well. I do a bit of travelling myself, but my business is, well, of a different nature." Arya says with a coy smile.
"Is that so? Well I am sorry to hear that Mr. Coric." Melathiel responds. "And I would hope that your different nature of business would be good and profitable if you travel as well Ms. Drottningu."
"The business of pleasures tend to be profitable no matter where you are," Arya says with grin as she takes a drink from her mug.
"So what you're sayin is, pleasure is your business?" Theodric comments with grin in a joking tone.
Arya smiles at Theodric's question. "Honey, if you have enough coin, I'll show you what my business is, but from the looks of it, you can't afford my services."
As the conversation quickly ensues, it is interrupted almost just as quickly. "Good morning everyone, I am glad to see that you all have decided to stay." Sheriff Hemlock says, approaching the group. "I hope that I'm not interrupting anything, but I would like to ask a favor of you all. In the process of looking over the damages caused from yesterday's unfortunate events, Father Zantus has ran into an issue. It would seem that cathedral's burial grounds have been potentially desecrated. The large majority of my men are currently dispatched in other tasks, so I would like to offer you the opportunity to assist us. Should you be so inclined to do so that is."
Arya looks over to the sheriff, "Good morning to you Sheriff. I'm sorry to hear that. If you don't mind me asking, what would be in it for us? Would there be some kind of compensation?"
Raising a brow, Theodric nods in agreement. "I agree with her on that statement, what kind of compensation?"
Giving a look towards Theodric, Melathiel responds as well. "Well I am certain that compensation can be talked about later. If your men are busy Sheriff, I would imagine that this would not be the only opportunity that our assistance would be asked of. I certainly have no issue with this, provided that a conversation in regards to compensation can be held."
Looking between Arya and Theodric, Hemlock begins to speak as he turns his focus towards Melathiel. "Compensation can most certainly be on the table. However, that conversation will be had later, once we know the full extent of what is going on. Help us with Father Zantus, and we can talk about potential short term work for everyone over the next few days."
Taking one last drink, Satinder puts his mug back down. "Well to be perfectly honest Sheriff, I would actually like to have something more than short term. But I have no issue in assisting in the areas you need help with."
"Of course, that's acceptable. I'd be happy to help."
"Sounds like we've got a decision made." Theodric says, grabbing one last swig from his mug. "Let's get goin then!"
As everyone finishes up, you all follow the sheriff out of the inn as he escorts the group to the cathedral. While the walk isn't far and doesn't take much time, it is enough to show the after math of last night's raid. Broken barrels and crates lay through the streets, some buildings have broken windows with glass shattered inside and out. While the buildings still stand, there are obvious torch marks where goblins seemed to attempt to burn them down. Seeing the townsfolk that are moving, you can tell that there is some unease still present. A few of them thank you once again for your actions, but they mostly seem more intent on cleaning things up.
Finally approaching the cathedral, Hemlock leads you towards the back where the cemetery is found. At the gates, you notice two familiar faces, Father Zantus and Liliana. "Thank you for waiting, Abstalar. And I appreciate you coming out to assist Ms. Tesseran." Hemlock says. Looking towards the group, Zantus smiles and gives a warm wave. "I do very much appreciate everyone of you coming out today. Obviously, we're a little busy here, so your help is very welcome to us."
Giving off a smirk at Zantus' remark, Liliana can't help but chuckle a little bit. "Well to be quite honest Father, I do believe you have everyone who is some sort of divine presence working a little now. I may reside at the Kitten, but at the rate you are going, I may have two places of employment." Looking at the rest of the group, she gives a warm smile. "A pleasure to see you all again. I hope you are feeling better this morning Theodric?"
Smiling back at the woman, Theodric nods. "Indeed I am. Feelin a lot better actually, especially after a good night's rest and some food. Glad to see you in a good mood as well. So what's up padre? Sheriff here says you need some help with something." he asks, looking at Zantus.
Nodding, Father Zantus responds. "Well yes, I do have an inquiry that I was hoping you all could assist me in. One of my acolytes and myself were taking a short walk through our grounds, making sure that the goblins hadn't knocked any of our head stones over. Unfortunately, we found that the vault that is dedicated to our priests who are no longer with us was disturbed. We normally keep it closed, but we noticed that the door was cracked open. I certainly do hope that it's nothing, but we have had goblins become trapped in various areas in town before. Should there be a goblin in there, we are not exactly in the position to try and detain the creature. Again, I hope that it is nothing, but I would greatly appreciate if you could go look." Looking at the group and then towards Father Zantus, Hemlock responds. "Do not worry Abstalar, I trust that this group of good citizens will be able to calm your worries. Please, go back inside the cathedral, I am sure that you will be able to provide more help there than out here." Zantus nods, smiles at everyone, and then heads towards the cathedral.
"Aight then, sounds simple enough. Go in, take a look, call it a day?" Theodric says, stretching his arms backward as he starts to look forward.
Satinder nods. "That does indeed seem like the plan. If you do not mind, I would like to take a look around the vault first. Take the chance to make sure that there are no foot prints leading into it."
Arya looks to him in agreement, "Good idea Satinder. I'll help with that." Arya turns to Theodric with smile, "Better than charging in head first and getting it chopped off, wouldn't you say my dear?"
Walking towards the vault, Satinder keeps his eyes open, trying to identify anything out of the ordinary.
Satinder scans the grounds, and finds multiple sets of footprints. Taking a better look, he is able to identify that there were six different goblins around the vault leading to and from a section of wall on the edge of the cemetery. However, there is another set of footprints that appear to belong to a larger humanoid figure than a typical goblin.
Looking things over, Satinder pauses for a moment, putting a hand on his chin. "Well this is interesting. I can tell that there were 6 six different goblins that came from that wall over there, and here to the vault, and then back. Typically from what I know about these vermin is that they are more basic in the needs they go for. Burial vaults are not one of them. What makes this interesting however is that there is a set of larger footprints. Considering the path they take, whoever they belong to would seem to be with the goblins, as there is no sign of struggle."
Theodric looks at the half elf confusedly. "Wait... you mean someone worked with the goblins?"
Raising an eyebrow, Lilliana just looks at Satinder. "I'm impressed by the detail, sharp eye there. But you can not be completely serious, why would the goblins follow someone that is not one of their own kind?"
Putting a finger on her lips and tapping them for a moment, Melathiel thinks and then responds. "Well... just for a moment, consider the possibility, as unusual as it may sound. Goblins do tend to be a more chaotic acting species, however, if one were to somehow create some sort of leverage over them, it could be possible to use them towards one's will."
"You can't be serious. The amount that came through last night? How in the hells would someone be able to control that?" Theodric questions with a confused tone.
Arya thinks for a moment, "Maybe it wasn't about control. Using the goblins natural instinct to cause chaos as a distraction for whoever wanted to get into this vault. Maybe they had a common goal or something. Since it seems like the goblins have left, why don't we have a look inside the vault to see if something was taken."
Drawing his blades, Satinder nods in agreement. "Let us take a look then, though I want to be prepared, just in case."
As the group prepares themselves just for precaution, Satinder and Theodric approach the doors and pull them open. As the light from outside fills the vault, there are four different caskets, one of them seemingly smashed to pieces. As soon as the vault is seen however, two skeletons come from the back of the vault, aware of the group's presence.
Turn order will be Theodric, Arya, Liliana, Skeleton 1, Skeleton 2, Melathiel, and then Satinder.
Taking quick action, Theodric rushes in with a grip on his blade, swinging it against one of the skeletons.
Arya quickly follows Theodric. Seeing him swiftly taking down one skeleton, she attacks the other.
