A few things before we get started... er, continue.

First off, I'm happy to be bringing you guys over here and adding Kerak. I think splitting the group was a good idea because it will allow us more action during the day with less fear of missing a turn while we sleep.

I've made a couple changes to some things in the Campaign Info tab, most notably the Combat Initiative and Maps spoilers. Initiative count will now stretch 8 hours. I don't want initiative counts lasting that long during the day, but without anyone on the other side of the world sleeping during our waking hours, I feel like it shouldn't be a problem. I figured since we will all see the moon roughly at the same time now, it makes sense to make this change.

There are some things requested in the Character Sheet spoiler that I'd like a couple of you to add. Most of you already have it done, which is where I got the idea. Its been very useful. It will only take a minute or two for anyone else to add them to their sheet so please check that out in Campaign Info and update your sheets accordingly right away.

And lastly, I'd like to remind everyone to make sure you hit the Preview button just before submit your posts. This is especially important in combat and should be done every single time. Check that no ones snuck in behind you. If so, please edit your post and the attached map accordingly, Preview again, and submit. Skipping this step caused a lot of issues with the map.

Alright guys things are starting to smooth out. If we can adhere to the things I just listed I think we can get a pretty well paced, smooth running game going and have some serious fun here. Thanx to all and enjoy yourselves:)

EDIT* to comment above.

I just realized the initiative windows don't need to be 8 hours to minimize skipping people at night.

Initiative windows will revert back to 6 hours max and the pathmaster (me) will be non skippable. This will basically allow me to pause the game at night.

Here's something pretty handy to take note of as well. Notice that when you hold your cursor over a monster on the map it's label pops up. Each monster is now labeled differently so that you can include which exact monster your attacking in with your post. I will also now track damage here so you can see who has been hit and for how much (but not their max hp).

And 1 more thing before I try again to get some sleep- If you were able to move your token then you don't have to bother explain your movement. If you take your turn from a mobile device then please do describe your movement so someone can move your piece for you, but otherwise it's not needed.

That sums it up for now, I'll see you guys on the battle field!

I wonder if anyone would mind explaining hero points? I'm not familiar with them.

Reporting for duty. I missed your link to report here. Can you please remove me from the other game in the campaign tab?

To be clear, since I have two sets of stats (Rage/No Rage), I use spoilers to get it to fit. The HP damage you gave me was immediately changed in my character sheet spoiler. When you stated for me to change my HP, it had already been changed.

If you want, I can switch it to a no-rage status, but then it's a pain the butt having to copy and paste different stats in and out of the line. Rage changes my HP, AC, saves, etc. So, that's why I did it that way.

Up to you, but I thought it was easier with the spoilers to see both at any given time. As such, I'm still down 5 HP from the last fight. Do we have a healer?

@Narvolo Ahhh yes, I see that now. No keep it the way you have it, that works well for your situation. Father Zantus healed you to full

@Kerak Everyone starts play with 1 hero point. You gain an additional hero point each time you level up, but the maximum you can have at any given time is 3. Other than leveling up, I may award you a hero point at any given time.

Hero points may be spent in a number of ways.

*Act out of turn, miving your initiative. Can only take a standard action.
*Declare befor2 a d20 roll to use a point, granting a +8 bonus to the roll.
*Use a point after a d20 roll to grant a +4 bonus.
*Either of the last 2 listed can be granted to another character in the same way but the bonus is halved.
*Gain an additional standard or move action.
*Spend a point to get a hint from the GM.
*Recall a single spell youve already cast or some other special ability limited on uses per day.
*Re roll any d20 roll.
*You can use 2 hero points to cheat death. Anytime you would be slain you can instead be stable at -1hp. This is the only way you can spend more than 1 hero point at a time.

Cool, thanks for the help.

So why does everyone repost the map at the bottom of their post?
Some more common ways of doing maps are to:
Put it in the GM's status line (where the players track HP and such)
Put it in the campaign subtitle (so it's always at the top of the page)
If we're not doing those, should I be reposting the map as well? I didn't see that in the campaign instructions, but my reading comprehension may be lacking.

I'm curious. I've seen 2 criticals and while you guys confirm the hit, you don't roll damage again. Do you just assume the original damage x2, or do you roll again? I thought you had to roll again.

In Pathfinder you are supposed to roll again, but there's probably something about it in a spoiler I didn't read.

I've seen people do it both ways at home, but I prefer to roll. In fact, one could pull some shenanigans and delete the second roll if its lower than the first one so that the first ones just doubled couldn't they. Not that I suspect that from anyone, but it certainly could be done.

From here on out, make extra rolls for critical damage. a single roll will no longer be doubled. If you only make one damage roll with a crit, that's all that will be applied. You can edit your post and add the additional rolls if you forgot them, but only if you get to it before the next initiative count.

EDIT* In fact, I'm gathering just now that it was not only my preference at home to roll multiple damage rolls, but also the rule. So either way, roll extra damage from now on. Thanx guys!

DM or Narvolo, if either of you get the time, I could use some advice or instructions for using Ditzie to create my own maps. I have a combat coming in my own PbP and I'd like to try it out.

I'm about to eat dinner in a few minutes, but it's easier if we do it over the phone. Send me your phone number via PM (and your name) and I'll call you in about 1.5 hours (around 5:30PST). Shouldn't take more than a few minutes on the phone to explain it.

Just make sure you already have a ditzie account, or sign up for one. Then create an album and some sub-folders, load up a few images. That will save me some time.

Norvolo helped me on the phone as well. it took him about 10 minutes, most of which was me farting around i think. Its super easy a phone call certainly makes quick work of it

For the druid pet, isn't it default to guard trick? If so, it should attack anything attacking you. If you use the attck trick to attack something else. You need 2 attack teicks to get it to attack strange stuff.

Sovereign Court

Half-Orc Druid 1 - HP: 11/11, - AC: 16/T: 12/FF: 14 - Perception: +6 F: +6/R: +4/W: +6 - CMB: +3 - CMD: 15, Init +4, Speed: 20ft

Vermin companions get two tricks only (until they gain an intelligence score), so I've taken attack x2. I'm a bit concerned that we'll need to take something alive though, as he doesn't know "down".
I didn't know the bit about defaulting, so I'd always assumed they just kind of followed you around by default.

EDIT: Speaking of, I forgot to move Grip along with me. Can the next person to update the map get that for me?
EDIT2: Unless the GM rules he is indeed on guard duty, in which case I need to post an attack for him and he'd remain there for now.

Well, they have to know 'guard' as a trick I believe. I never took a vermin companion, so that's a bit different. I think the guard trick says that's the default trick, assuming he knows it. But, if you don't have guard, then that's gonna be hard.

Edit: Whoops, it's the "defend" trick, copied below (emphasis added):

Defend (DC 20) The animal defends you (or is ready to defend you if no threat is present), even without any command being given. Alternatively, you can command the animal to defend a specific other character.

Narvolo would like to go back and collect the stuff off the dead goblins as soon as appropriate. Both here and at the last encounter.

I'm also going to need to wash DOOM BRINGER, as it has to be soaked with goblin guts at this point.

No problem. I'll throw the looting in when the commotion calms down. Who's going to keep track of party treasure?

Nic can if no one else wants to step up. He carries pens, ink, and parchment, so jotting down an accounting should not be too much trouble. I can set up a spoiler tab on his "sheet" page.

Narvolo has an online tracking system designed to split loot fairly that he uses in other game(s). I'd be happy to use it here if you wish.

I second Narvolo's option.

A micro brew called Uncommon made here in my home town at a brewry/pub called Bent River. It's won a bunch of awards. It's hands down the best beer I've ever drank, with exception to a seasonal beer they also make called Jingle Java. Unfortunately you can only get Jingle Java around christmas time, but it's soooo good. Every single time I take a drink of it I feel like the guys in that scene from Beerfest, "I wanna brush my teeth with it" lol. It's $10 for a six pack at the liquor store but since its brewed here I just go down the road to their pub and drink it there. I don't know how far out you can get this beer but If you ever see a Bent River label it's probably worth the money. The 2 I mentioned above are phenomenal.

RISE OF RUNELORD LOOT TRACKER

I've made it so anyone can edit it. It's probably 95% correct, as I have a fully working excel version, but then moving it and recopying the formulas might have a quirk here and there, but it should be obvious when it happens.

Essentially, in this system you are encouraged to claim stuff you can or might use, as you are never worse off than not claiming. We can also have things claimed by the "party", like potions and wands that you don't want to sell but really benefit everyone. I'd explain it more, but the moment people start claiming things and then you see how the loot is split, it's pretty fair and self explanatory.

I went ahead and set the potion of CMW to Party for now. As you see, it deducts that from the potential things to sell.

You might want to put this link up in the campaign tab.

Who is carrying the party loot in the game?

I can carry ~25 lbs without issue. Beyond that it will slow my movement speed.

I put the whip to Nic on the file.

If we all sell the stuff except the whip, we would get 44.2gp each, while Nic would get 43.7gp, since the whip is 1gp in value or 0.5gp if sold.

Since none of the stuff other than the potion is worth anything to us, we could go ahead and sell it if you all want, then we don't have to lug it around for now.

No one in town will purchase the armor, however over the next couple of days you'll realize the townsfolk are quite fond of you. Savah Bevaniky offers you 70% of market value for any weapons she buys from you.

If possible, Nic will make introductions around town, trying to find out basic information about who is who, what is what around town. He tries to find out any local lore about the Beacon or other things of interest. If there are any Varisians in town, he will make sure to stop and make the appropriate thanks for allowing him to share in the town. If there are any Sczarni in town, he will likewise introduce himself and thank them for allowing him space to follow his studies.

Knowledge Local Check if needed 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 for around town basic information on the powers that be.

Knowledge History Check if needed 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 to discover any useful information about the ruins and/or other Thassilonian points of interest nearby.

Diplomacy Check if needed 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 to make polite introductions. I hope Nic doesn't offend anybody. Never a good thing when you're an outsider.

So, do you guys just want to go ahead and sell the weapons (not the whip) at 70%? We can leave the armor in the room in case we find someone who might want it later, or burn it. Who knows. If it's worthless, then I'm not worried about anyone stealing it.

I guess that means everything you do Narvolo stays in Vegas? Sorry, bad joke. I imagine the heat takes some getting used to. Here over 90 degrees and the pools are free for the kids. We don't see those temps here in WV until late June or August, usually.

BTW, thanks again for the help with Ditzie, it was much appreciated.

So I think we have West Virginia, Nevada, and Illinois represented, where is everyone else from?

In Vegas you have to subtract 10-15 degrees to get a comparison to other places since there is no humidity.

Oh, just thought of something: if this vault could hold our stuff as part of our compensation for helping them. Narvolo is greedy but isn't too good at articulating his desires or negotiations.

We can go ahead and sell the weapons, even the whip Nic was eyeing. I forgot it was sized for small creatures, so it is not really of much use.

My vote would be for either Eleavar or Narvolo to carry the potion. They should be seeing more combat so it may be needed, and if one of the rest of us falls, they should hopefully be nearby to render aid.

Coin is more important right now, to restock and rearm.

Edit: I think the vault may be a crypt, since it is the priest that brought it up.

Okay, so I'm going to set the armor currently valued at 0. We keep the potion and sell the weapons, including the whip, for 81.9gp, split 5 ways is 16gp and 4sp per person.

Assuming that's okay with the GM (since he did say 70%), everyone should update their character sheets.

Yep that's good
