All paizo classes, archetypes, races, etc allowed, so long as they fit the character and don't unbalance the party.
Background skills from unchained are recommended. For those who don't have the book, you get 2 bonus skill ranks (per level) that can only be used in the following skills: Appraise, Artistry, Craft, Handle Animal, Knowledge (Engineering, Geography, History, Nobility), Linguistics, Lore, Perform, Profession, Sleight of Hand. Use these to help flesh your character out.
There will be changes to the Adventure Path. That's the nature of role-playing games. I tweak this, you save instead of slay, and pretty soon our campaign doesn't look quite like anyone else's. Don't fight it, embrace it.
Content in my games tends to run a bit mature in places, especially in a game like Runelords where you face ancient and monstrous evil. I don't try to be shocking or gratuitous, but entrails are spilled, people get naked, and the terrible things that can happen to the helpless don't always take place conveniently off-screen. This isn't to everyone's taste, and I wanted to let you know.
I will DMPC your character if the party is waiting on you, generally this will be after ~24hrs, but it will really be a more a matter of feel once we're familiar with everyone's posting schedule. This usually only occurs in combat, and role-playing someone else's character is awkward. Speaking of which...
PbP has some... quirks. On the one hand it's much easier to be in character and get some serious role-playing done. You have time to really think about what to do. On the other, turns are often a day long, with posting order and character actions tumbling all over each other. So, at the end of each round of combat I will be posting a summary of the official version of what happened, and reserve the right to change character actions so everything goes smoothly. This works quite well, and the changes are usually on the order of, 'Slew goblin z instead of y because [Other Character] killed y first.' So, when you post your action, feel free to give me some alternative actions or what he wants to accomplish in the fight. i.e '[charname] is going to take out the bodyguards first. Or [charname] will heal rather than attack if someone goes down.
If a conversation starts up between a single character and a npc, we will probably continue it in spoilers rather than holding up the whole party while you harmlessly flirt with the bar-maid. Same goes for 'small talk' conversations within the party. These are one of the most enjoyable parts of role-playing, and so I want to encourage them, but an ongoing dispute over who is the worst cook probably isn't going to drastically change anything, unlike, say, a conversation about whether we kill the prisoner or not. That does need to be resolved before moving on, and don't feel the need to rush it. If it takes a week to figure out what to do with the BBEG, that is OK.
I plan to have traps, poisons, diseases, puzzles, etc to further enhance the game beyond "I kill all the things!" There will be different ways to accomplish an "encounter", be it by combat, diplomacy, intrigue, sneaking, etc.
There will be time for crafting, professions, artistry, and performances
Metagaming, spoiling the game, harassing players, and verbal abuse are all serious. Please play respectfully. I will eject players that are jerks. Also, 'It's what my character would do!' is usually not a good enough reason for disruptive behavior.
Posting expectation is 1/day. If possible, more posting is good, especially in combat, the bane of many pbps, where all you really need to type one or two sentences and enter a dice sequence. However, if you can't post for a couple days, I understand. Though a head's up is always nice, I won't kill you off just because you got sick or had a test. Likewise, if there is an usually long silence on my end, don't panic, role-play.
Final thing, The world in the game will continue on without you, but the game itself will not. Your character does nothing if you don't type it. Your character feels nothing if you don't type it. When possible, don't give us, your fellow cast members, 'Charge Goblin in L4, power attack with longsword.' or 'I flirt with deh w3nch.' I recommend these two guides for ideas. Made a few adjustments, went with Steel-Breaker archetype (felt it was appropriate).
If anyone wants to share your thoughts on this, I've had Tsakua starting out with less equipment and money than has been given, simply for reasons of his backstory. That's more for RP reasons than character optimization, but i don't want to throw off the group.

            Hello!
@Mary, I'm not going to be checking and am not a stickler for exactness. However, it does matter. If Mary suddenly seems to be carrying three different muskets and moving at full speed, I'll notice and give a withering stare. Basically, be reasonable but don't stress.
@Tsakua Sounds good to me. Steel-breaker fits. Your lack of equipment because of backstory was part of the reason I reached out to you. Just a FYI, slavery isn't particularly common in Varisia, and limited to those regions under Korvosa's sway, or Riddleport's. So, Sandpoint is a safe place for a trouble-maker such as yourself, but don't be expecting to run into any slavers or slaves anytime soon.
Gameplay and discussion are up, so have fun!

I'm... mostly ready? I might change a few things around. Since Kent and Tsakua are both brawlers, I was thinking about how the two might be able to differentiate themselves.
My current plan for Kent is to take few levels of Invulnerable Rager Barbarian, in order to get those sweet, sweet rage bonuses. As mentioned in his background, Kent's always had a bit of a temper, and when it flares he gets dangerous, like the fight with his brother. The full plan is to grab several options for DR, essentially giving Kent a high enough DR to absorb damage, rather than avoid it with what will end up being a lower AC, thanks to Rage.

@Tsakua I think it's a good idea. Thematically appropriate for an ex-slave, and it makes a nice contrast with the smith who worships steel and the forge.
Question regarding the campaign, how much of an opportunity will there be for crafting? I played that up slightly more because it was explicitly mentioned in the other recruitment thread, and I'd like to know how much to fiddle with that.

@Kent and Tsakua, I'm not too concerned about you guys overlapping. If you'd like to change a few things or discuss how each is going to grow though, go for it.
@Torvald, plenty. Kent has a background as a smith as well, and Mary has to craft her ammunition as there isn't anyone to buy from in Sandpoint. As the adventure kicks off, you probably won't have time to do any major crafting until the threat to the town is dealt with. This first section is pretty tightly put together and has a timer. After that though, there will opportunities to craft and do other activities using the downtime rules in ultimate campaign if you're interested, much easier to stretch out and play with events.
@Mary, that's fine, just be reasonable and consider what she would actually want to carry around with her. If you think she should be encumbered, play as such, if not, don't.
That reminds me of something. Everyone! You're at a festival in town. How would you feel carrying around a loaded gun, and bullet-proof vest and sundry equipment, at the county fair, and how would you feel about someone else doing it? I'm not forbidding it, just think about it and know that NPCs will react to you differently if you do, and perhaps be prepared to explain yourself.
As for party balance, you four were who I had in mind, and I think I'd like to keep it that way for now. It's not a traditional party, but I kind of like that.

I have a feeling our solution to a lot of problems will be "break things". I'm fine with this. I like to break things. Traps will be fun, though. I have a feeling we'll be doing a lot of avoiding rather than disabling. That, or a lot of smashing.
As for no wizards or anything, guess that means we just have to be our own counter-wizard. Guess I'll be taking the Superstitous rage power. I did grow up on a farm, after all.

Yep! Though who knows, Torvald might have a bit more magic in him than he thought, Mary's already a scholar of esoteric secrets, and is there really that much of a difference between sneaking up behind someone and stabbing them or sneaking up behind them and crushing their skull like sparrow's egg?
For now though, Hammer and Tongs, Smoke and Blood, let's show those puny runelords where real strength lies. In iron and blood.
@Kent, link/send me so I can take a look at them. Generally I say no, but can't say for certain until I take a look.

Sure, thanks for the info DM Grey. I doubt he would carry her bags with her, though she would wand to keep a couple things on hand. Being a pathfinder has trained her to be careful, though she is still an initiate, and hasn't been confirmed yet.
So lets see what she would carry;
- No bags, she then can move normally

- Dagger sheathed into a boot, just in case.

- Sword sheathed on hip, though will have it tied shut to be safe

- And the musket, Hm, she does not want to leave it behind, so she might wrap it up in a bedroll, and then tied it with twine so she can carry it with her.

- And a powder horn and a belt pouch with same amount of ammo, so 10 rounds plus 7 from the paper cartridges.

- and she will keep her armor on, just in case.
So, in appearance, she has a sword that is tied down, a long object wrapped in cloth, and has her armor on, just in case.
Edit: Wow, very active! And it already sounds like fun! Though I am not sure about knowledge though. I am a shooter, not a scholar! :P

The two feats are Roll With It and Armor Specialization. If those are a little much for you, Complete Warrior has Extra Resilience, which gives an extra DR 1/-, and can't be taken more than once.
I wouldn't be taking Roll With It more than once, so you don't need to worry about me abusing that.

Thanks for taking them into consideration. Lower DR is more helpful at low levels, so the bit from Invulnerable Rager is good for a while. Those would probably be feats I'd take closer to mid-level. I'm aiming for high DR because Kent will likely NEVER have a good AC, or even a decent one. His AC at the moment is pretty good, but I sincerely doubt it will ever go higher than 20 or so while Kent is raging, meaning at higher levels he's definitely going to be getting hit.

I am re-recruiting for this game as I have taken over as the GM. We lost a player, our healer to be exact and we are looking for one to two players to replace him.
Below are the original character creation guidelines. PLease follow those to keep things fair.
Please post the kind of character you intend to play with a brief blurb about their personality.
Thanks!

I have a dwarven cleric I'd like to find a home for. It also looks like you need a wizard or something like it, so I might look into that.
Are we going to level up along with everyone else, or will we be trailing a little behind with regards to xp?
The group compesition you have going is fairly strange - there's two brawlers and a gunslinger, is there a story to that or was it just how things went?

That's just how it went, The Dragon.
I am hoping for a divine caster with healing capabilities and an Arcane caster.
I do exp. based on story completion: I just say "you leveled." That way the players aren't deciding to do tiny missions before making bigger decisions. Everything done has a mark, get enough marks and you level.
@ Xynen: Recruitment will be left open until I have enough candidates with full concepts to draw from. I will communicate time frames as the become apparent.

Hi everyone! I'm one of the three remaining players, so I'm excited to see what you all come up with. As for the party composition, we were all pulled from a different recruitment thread initially, and we were just who the original DM ended up picking. Our current GM took over after our first DM disappeared.

I'll be submitting a human cleric of Desna for your consideration. A charming and generous varisian woman who has seen the PCs defend Sandpoint, and now prepares to help them. I'll have the proper stats up in a few hours.
is what I am looking for at this time. If I need more, I will let you know.
Still a good idea to flesh the characters out as much as possible. Any additional info I ask for will come with an unknown deadline for a response to see how often you check the boards.

I'll let you know right away that I live in the GMT+2 time zone. My posting time probably doesn't match up to yours.
I'm online pretty much at least once every day, but if being in a different time zone is going to disqualify me from this game, I'd rather know now than waste more time building for a game I have no chance of getting into.
Here's what I have so far:
She values satisfying her curiosity over heeding caution, and has ended up in more spots of trouble because of it than might be considered her fair share. She's usually able to talk her way out of trouble again though. Except for that one time in Magnimar... But that was cheating; it didn't really count anyway.
With respect to looks, I based off of the iconic sorceress. Example
Edit: Just saw it said 'final ability score'. I'll lower my 19 to an 18 real quick. I'm not sure what to spend the resulting 3 points on though. Maybe some more intelligence? That wouldn't be so bad. I'll get to put ranks in UMD, then.

I have my character concept ready for you, GM and fellow players.
Luminita Zantus is the eldest niece of Abstalar Zantus, the head priest of Sandpoint's new cathedral. She is an 18 year old Varisian woman with dusky skin, large expressive violet eyes, beautiful curves, and long wavy black hair. She wears plenty of jewelry, and is quite the fashionista. She makes sure that all of her clothes have accents typical for Varisian culture (her favorites are violet, orange, light blue, and pink, all with trimming of silver or gold if she can one day afford it). Her most treasured possession is her kapenia (or family scarf) of deep purple with stunning circular designs in silver.
Although Luminita can be absent minded, or overly carefree, she makes a loyal and open-minded friend. She is known (and teased) for openly making less important decisions by simply flipping a coin, and she regularly visits madame Mvashti for harrow readings. Her best friends are Katrina Vinder, Ameiko Kaijitsu, and the Avertin sisters in Sandpoint Savories.
That all being said, Luminita loves to travel. 5 years ago, Luminita traveled to Magnimar and lived in the church to study religion. She explored so much of the city and loved every bit of it. She tries to make a habit of exploring every now and then, as Desna would always encourage.
After the disaster at the Swallowtail festival, goblins are on Luminita's mind. She is afraid that they will return again in force, and wants to defend her home and people. Taking her traveling armor, trusty starknife, and a handful of scrolls, Luminita seeks out the PCs to join their cause. Terrible things are afoot in Sandpoint, and Luminita will no longer sit by to watch her home burn.

            Hello!
I talked about a Warpriest before but I've decided to apply as an Arcanist instead.
Golwen Unduval is a somewhat absent-minded Arcanist (Occultist) with an interest in all things unusual and strange. He was on his way in hopes of finding a lost book in Magnimar, but heard of Sandpoints "legendary" festival and decided to make a trip there after being unable to find what he was after.
Personality wise, as mentioned, he is somewhat absent-minded but friendly and even a little charming. He focuses on Conjuration Magic (broadly speaking) and is particularly adapt at Summoning.
I actually have his backstory and such somewhat updated, that and character sheet are on the profile if interested. Some stuff is a little off (I think the wealth is wrong) but it should mostly be all up to the requirements laid forth.

A conversation in the cathedral between Luminita, and her uncle Abstalar Zantus.
Although normally cheerful, Luminita walks brazenly into the Sandpoint cathedral towards her uncle. She is dressed in her brown studded leather traveling armor, with a few accents of orange - signifying adventure and ambition. Underneath is a dark blue blouse - representing strength - and she is armed with her starknife and a shield on her back.
"Uncle," Luminita says with a frown. "I have decided to join the adventurers in their quest to defend Sandpoint."
Father Zantus spits out his tea in surprise. "Luminita! Don't be so foolish, these adventurers are trained mercenaries and pathfinders. They've killed many times in their career, and have faced ambushes… and weather! That kind of life isn't destined for you, my daughter. What could I possibly say to your mother and father if I condoned this?"
Defiant, Luminita holds nothing back. It is clear that she has made up her mind, and that nothing will stop her. "You don't understand uncle… Father… They have no guide, no medic, no scholar or foresight. The magic of our Lady can heal them when in danger, can guide them when they're lost. I understand the laws of magic, the history of our lands, and how to mend one's wounds. Even if a question is posed that I cannot answer, I know that Desna may guide me. You must grant me your blessing, Father."
"No, Luminita, you must stay where there are songs." Replies Abstalar, now breaking into proverb. "If you treat your luck well, it will never leave you, but to rely on it will only bring misfortune. Leave the adventurers to their own tasks. Between them and the guard, our lands will be safe. I worry that something has happened in our boneyard, and I am considering summoning the adventurers for aid." He knows Luminita too well, so he shuts her down before she can even protest. "No, you cannot go with them. Even if you can heal them in times of danger, who will protect you? You have no experience in adventuring."
"It is in the water that one learns to swim." Luminita retorts. "We are all wanderers on this earth. Our hearts are full of wonder, and our souls are deep with dreams. Father, I cannot stay here while goblins threaten our homes. The guard here is so small and ill-equipped, and the adventurers number only three. A real goblin invasion would burn us to the ground. Please father, uncle! Grant me your blessing, and let me follow the butterflies and listen to the song of spheres. Desna shall guide me."
I fully admit that I will not make posts nearly this fleshed out on a day-by-day basis, but I hope this helps show my capabilities.

Many thanks everyone! I eagerly look forward to working with you all.
Nice, congrats!
I am still looking for one more, preferably an Arcane mage. I will post a new recruitment tomorrow to get as many good applications as possible. Be on the look out.
Will do!
