Angelo will cast lesser evolution surge and then haste just before we go through the doors. He will evolve a gore attack.

A killer GM with a killer smile.

All at once the door are flung wide and before you stand two surprised looking creatures. Just ahead and to the left stands a massive undead creature, easily as tall as an ogre. Within the ribs of his chest, a struggling spirit can be seen, as if it is imprisoned there. Opposite him, and before you on your right, there stands a sickly green creature, covered every inch in spines. Neither has a chance to react before the group is on them.

Two summoning circles dominate this high-ceilinged room. A pair of stairways flank a set of double doors on the east wall, each leading to a balustraded balcony overlooking the open central floor beneath.

They are surprised, and will have no actions until after the surprise round is concluded.

Ok, no action for Raven or Jeska, and the rest of us will have to try and survive without them.

Surprise Round:

The team bursts through the doors, readying their weapons and spreading out to attack. Angelo gets into position without difficulty, and apparently unseen, while Rost fires off a burst of searing light at the undead devil. It screams as the light burns into it. But a moment later, a cacophony of gunfire breaks out from somewhere unseen, though the general source of the noise is easily determined. Bullets tear into the undead monster, tearing holes in him and knocking him this way and that with the impacts.

Round 1:

The monsters react quickly, the massive undead creature taking a step back and casting a spell. Casting defensively: vs.25: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (5) + 19 = 24. He fails, so Angelo may make an AoO with one of his reach attacks if he wishes (Which he may not as it might spoil the surprise for his full attack on his turn...)

The barbed green one takes a step towards the open doorway, and the attackers there. He raises his hands in with a hiss and also uses a spell-like ability. Casting defensively: vs.23: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36. A blast of cold, clinging, greasy miasma springs up around those in the doorway. The cold evil of it slams into the group members standing there.

A sharp, gurgling scream erupts through the room, ripping all from sleep. Raven comes to feeling a strange sensation; wet, cold, and light headed. It takes a moment to realize that you are covered in blood and bleeding. Blood spurts forth from your neck, where you have apparently been slashed or stabbed.

Raven takes 32 damage, and is experiencing bleed damage at a rate of 7 per round. Using your Jingasa of the Fortunate Warrior abilty for the day would reduce this to 7 damage, and eliminate the bleed damage.

Doesn't bleed happen on your turn in initiative? Unless I act in the surprise round, therefore, shouldn't I *not* take bleed in the surprise round? I realise I am reaching, but I am on a disturbingly small number of hp ;-)

Sure. We'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Coughing blood, his body perforated by numerous nasty wounds, Raven looks inward, finds his centre of calm, and casts a spell...

Summon Eidolon, casting defensively: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27.

Concentration check versus continuous damage: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26.

...causing his body to be surrounded by its familiar cocoon of righteous fury!

Still flat-footed, but at least my AC went up a tad ;-)

Rost gritted his teeth as the unseen assailant nearly killed Raven. Wings of inky black burst from his back and he flew towards his companion.

Swift action - Wings of Darkness. Move action towards Raven. Cast Cure Serious Wounds.

Heal Raven: 3d8 + 7 ⇒ (1, 5, 5) + 7 = 18

As Rost moves forward to get to Raven's side, he becomes aware of something between him and his ally as he almost collides with it. Looking down, he can see Jeska, her throat slit, apparently without a sound, and her dead foggy eyes staring up at you blankly. Her bedroll is soaked through with blood.

Rost:
The enemy is standing in Jeska's space. Given your opponent's location, what would you like to do for your turn? Movement might provoke another AoO, but only if the opponent has Combat Reflexes.

AoO for entering an enemy's square: 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 17 + 2 = 23
Sneak Attack Damage: 8d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 4, 2, 4, 5, 4) + 2 = 36

A blade strikes Rost across the chest, cutting deep and throwing a line of crimson splatter across the wall and floor.

Angelo casts a spell, aiming for the place where something just slashes Rost. A burst of golden glitter erupts there.

Casting glitterdust. Try to avoid my companions, but if I have to hit one of them I will. DC to avoid blind is 14.

Angelo; just waiting for Rost to finish his round one action, then the villain will go, and then your second round action you just posted here will kick in after that.

As soon as he sensed the presence, Rost knew it was too late and hissed as the blade tore through his flesh. He had to change plans and reacted with the magic.

Cast Defensively DC 17: 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 4 = 26

Cast Sanctuary - Will Save DC 17

Jeska's down and her killer is standing over her body!

A killer GM with a killer smile.

Sanctuary is a touch spell, so you must make a touch attack, as well as roll a 50% miss chance to see if you connect with the target. To speed things up, I'll make the rolls here.

Rost's Touch Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Miss chance: Miss on 0: 1d2 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Reaches out into the empty space he knows contains the villain in an attempt to discharge his spell into them; however, he grasps only air.

Stealth: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (1) + 22 = 23
A footfall rings on the flagstone floor as the foe apparently steps down hard into the space between the team members.
Rost: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29
8d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 6, 6, 1, 5, 3) + 2 = 32
Raven (Prone): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (3) + 17 = 20
Rotann: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (16) + 17 = 33
Angelo (Prone): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (16) + 17 = 33
8d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5) + 2 = 34
The weapon of the attack spins invisibly through each of the team members in turn, slashing at all, sometimes glancing of leathery hide or scales, but other times finding soft flesh.

A moment after the attack Angelo casts his spell. Knowing that his opponent has just stepped next to him, I presume he will attempt to cast defensively. Cast Defensively: DC 21: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24. A burst of glittering gold dust erupts through the air, coating everything within 10 ft of the attacker. Her form is instantly outlined, and you see the figure of a tall woman revealed, with a short sword in her hand.
Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9. One of her hands moves reflexively to her face, rubbing at eyes that clearly cannot see.

Angelo can position the spell so that he is the only other one in the radius.

@ Rigor Rictus - the range is touch and Rost was casting it on himself.

A killer GM with a killer smile.

Ah, I totally misread the description; I thought it was an attack, not a ward. I've never seen anyone actually use that spell before. Ok, her action will remain unchanged, but she'll need a will save to successfully strike you.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Luckily (for me), she resists the spell, and I don't need to change anything. Sorry Rost.
