@ Jean-Phillipe....its like your speaking English but I can't understand a word you are saying.

I think he's referring to something like Hadoken which literally means "wave motion fist" and is commonly seen in anime or video games and is a special attack represented by the characters thrusting their palms forward sending a surge of spirit energy towards the opponent. I think in this case he is hurling himself. It's a style thing.

Keith S. |

I am beginning to remember some of the tricks of pbp (at least on Paizo). I put a link to the current map at the top of the page so you don't have to scroll and look for it.
I think if I keep exporting an update to that same file it will always be updated.
The link also has some bold letters indicating items of interest
yellow for you guys
T=Trevor, F=Faradin, JP=Jean-Phillipe, H=Helena, L=Lazare
bad guys / other in red
O is the torture doctor
X is the victim.

you might put the map link in your profile so its on your posts.

Good idea. Hmmm. Not sure how to do that but I will work on it

The manservant profession allows one to properly serve a Master. One knows about wines, ales, how to sew a button back on and make minor clothing repairs, clean clothes, prepare and serve food, set up a tent, polish shoes, obtain domestic supplies, etc.
And Dr. Gabe turned into Lazare.

![]() |

I made an assumption since gabe hates the halfings.

Keith S. |

So how long before Helena is officially no longer part of the team? I figure at this point we have 4 solid players so that is good.
Just curious what your opinions are.

![]() |

We can just suspend disbelief to make her disappear and if she reappears we can suspend her back in.

Keith S. |

In case you guys have not figured it out, I have limited ability to post while I am at work. So most of my posting gets done in the evenings, and in the mornings when I am working from home, or waiting to leave for a meeting. I am in the central time zone of the U.S. (so is Jean-Phillipe and Lazare).

Keith S. |

Sorry to see Helena go, but if its not your thing, its not your thing.
Let me know your thoughts on Giles. I am thinking he can link up when you escape wherever it is you are - so we have a LONG time to decide this.

Keith S. |

Just moving the sci fi discussion over here.
I loved the old small book Traveller game. Played a lot of it in college (a long time ago - early 80s).
I remain a big fan of sci fi games so if anyone wants to roll with a sci fi game on the forums, I am good with it.
Either way, good to hear people talking about traveller. I prefer the old Spinward Marches setting vs some of the new stuff. I also have a copy of Fifth Frontier War which is a so-so wargame (albiet with some cool mechanics) but a great game when tied into a Traveller game. And check out this Traveller Map

Keith S. |

I am thinking about creating a new knowledge skill, science, in order to help you figure out the .... well, 'science-y' things you may run across.
I figure we can make that available to anyone? Thoughts?

![]() |

Isn't it a type of arcana? "understood by few; mysterious or secret." That being, said, I'm not sure this group has arcana. We appear to be a more high adventure and weird group.

![]() |

If it's a plot key, just call for another knowledge that's relevant and subtract 5. Or Int check. Or perceiving.

Keith S. |

Those seem like reasonable options. We will use them.
On a different note, I am on vacation thru 4/23. I am staying home so my posting rate should go up.

Trevor Culexis |

Since we are lacking a buffer/healer I am offering some suggestions,
1.Combat Vigor feat(s) from Healer's HandbookHere
2.NPC cleric who follows us around quietly for buffs and healing. Brother Markus isn't much for combat and he doesn't talk much, but he is good for patching people up.

Keith S. |

What do others think of this. I like the combat vigor.
You do have a warpriest who is a healer. But he used his healing early in the encounter (you are first level, after all).

![]() |

Warpriest don't have the same level of healing as Clerics or Oracles though. They are good, but they are much more so a combat character rather than a dedicated healer.
Either option is good with me.

![]() |

We are first level. I don't think pathfinder requires a dedicated healer.
We were asked to not optimize and we didn't.
If you want to use a feat on that healing, it seems like a waste.

![]() |

Pathfinder definetly needs a dedicated healer, especially an AP that is filled with Combat. I do not have a low AC but I have died once and got pretty significantly damaged again.
It isn't about optimization, it is just about numbers. For your whole day of healing you have two spells and there are 4 of us, soon to be a 5th with the NPC. For a Clerics day they have 2 spell slots they can use (3 if they have the healing domain) + 3 Channels + their CHA bonus in channels. The numbers just don't match up. Warpriests are great, really good characters, but they are not really healers.

![]() |

I don't agree. It's more about what we fought and the rnd of the die. That creature was clearly meant to be a major threat.

![]() |

Regardless of it being a major threat or not, we are still going to get damaged over the course of the adventuring day, we are still likely to take more damage than we can heal by sleeping at night. And then what about you? You don't want to have to keep all your spells for healing, no one wants to do that. But you are our only source of healing, the only way we stay alive. So you will have to. Meaning all you will end up doing is healing us then be relegated to casting Cantrips. Sounds kinda miserable to me.
But hey this is just how I see it. If you all disagree, okay, we can do it your way.

![]() |

If that were pfs, each of us would spend points on a clw wand after the first 4 hour scenario, problem solved.
It's up to Keith how gygaxian he wants to run this. I think it's supposed to be gritty. If you're hurt, grab a crossbow instead of tanking. Avoid damage. Armor up.

Keith S. |

Good discussion. It is meant to be gritty.
As far as your encounters go - the first one is meant to be challenging. You start with no armor, no weapons, locked in a cage, facing a CR3 doppelganger. Not so surprising you got beat up.
The second doppelganger was not so difficult - you took 6 hp of damage as a party.
Last - you are first level. Many things are more challenging at first level than they are after you progress.
I am opposed to the healer npc idea. There is healing available and there are weapons available as well.

Keith S. |

We seem to be losing participation.....posting rate is slowing down....except for Trevor

Benefit: You gain a vigor pool with a maximum number of points equal to your Constitution bonus. As a standard action, you can spend up to 1 vigor point per 3 Hit Dice you have (minimum 1) to regain 1d6 hit points per vigor point spent (maximum 7d6). Each time you spend vigor points, you become fatigued for 1 minute. You cannot spend vigor points while fatigued or exhausted. Spending vigor points doesn’t provoke attacks of opportunity. The points in your vigor pool are replenished to their maximum after you rest for 8 hours.2 Vigor point pool
