Female Human (Ulfen) Barbarian/1

While the others fiddle with the trapped chest, Annalisa tries to keep an eye out for potential threats.

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

1 person marked this as a favorite.

As the lid to the chest lifts, those nearby wait with baited breath for...

Nothing.

The chest appears to be empty, small claw marks raking the interior as if pulling things out from it hurriedly though.

Anyone at the chest at this moment may roll a Perception check.

Male Gnome Ranger/1

What's in the box?!

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Fizzlewhisk looks at the marks and around the chest.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Perception: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1 astonished, Grimkell stares into the box and sees nothing...

"Duped by a bait and a trap..." he shakes his head.

We did not even get the fish as a choice... I would have taken it!

Human, Female, Witch 1, 7/7, AC 11, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4, Init +1

perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

Ordrik continues to look around while he moves up to take the crossbow.

perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Damn you RNG, couldn't even give me a 10 :(

Aw, I'm sure the RNG will favor you soon enough Ordrik!

As Ordrik and Grimkell look in, the box appears empty to them. To Runa and Fizzlewhisk though, note that the snow around the chest seems piled up in a similar fashion as it had been over the rope!

Male Dwarf Warpriest 1(HP10/10), (AC17, T11, FF16), (Saves F5, R2, W4)+2 Vs Poison, Spell, SLA, (CMB 2, CMD 13), Init 1, Percep 2 +2 vs Stone

Probably will, but I am not at the chest, but at the crossbow.

Male Gnome Ranger/1

"The snow here looks like it was pushed this way. Hmm..." Fizzlewhisk pokes through the snow piles with the bottom of his staff.

"Watch out, it might be another trap." says Grimkell, taking a step back.

Sorry Ordrik, got caught up with the others. You know it's a crossbow!

As Fizzlewhisk pokes and prods with the staff, it sinks in further than it appeared it should. Either the chest is propped up, or it is of very odd design!

DM SCREEN:
1d100 ⇒ 18

Male Gnome Ranger/1

"The snow is deeper 'round the chest. The box should be deeper, or there's something underneath." the gnome kneels down onto his knees and cautiously begins scooping away the snow from the chest.

Male Dwarf Warpriest 1(HP10/10), (AC17, T11, FF16), (Saves F5, R2, W4)+2 Vs Poison, Spell, SLA, (CMB 2, CMD 13), Init 1, Percep 2 +2 vs Stone

Ordrik picks up the crossbow. They won't be leaving this one again.

He then turns to look at what is going on around the chest.

Scooping away the excess snow, A small pile of goods begin to be produced. Found are the following

Five sets of leather armor, three sets of studded leather armor, an ornate chain shirt, two light wooden shields, seven longswords, two
spears, an ornate dagger, three light crossbows with a total of 25 bolts, and a small satchel of gold coins with 35 gold coins in it.

Oh, and perception checks, please! Bwahahaha!

Male Gnome Ranger/1

"It wasn't a trap! It was... stuff... why was it stuff?" The gnome wonders as he kneels in front of the cache.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Human, Female, Witch 1, 7/7, AC 11, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4, Init +1

perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Female Human (Ulfen) Barbarian/1

She isn't over by the chest, but if you need it anyway: Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

His curiosity piqued, Grimkell steps forward again, close enough so that he put his hand on Fizzlewhisk's shoulder as he bends down to look unto the hidden cache of equipment.

"Good question... maybe it was too heavy to carry?"

perception: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2

Male Human (Kellid) Shaman (Mammoth)

Aðvinr move closer, surprised and troubled by the gear.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Male Dwarf Warpriest 1(HP10/10), (AC17, T11, FF16), (Saves F5, R2, W4)+2 Vs Poison, Spell, SLA, (CMB 2, CMD 13), Init 1, Percep 2 +2 vs Stone

Also not by the chest.

perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Add 2 for stonework.

Male Human hp13/13 Rage hp16/16 AC19 T12 FF17 int+2 BloodRager 1 Percp+4 Surv+5

perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

That's a strange place to put gear.

Why would they hide it under the chest and not in it?

Fizzlewhisk, Annalisa and Ordrik, you hear it though it attempts to sneak up on you all. Glancing up near the path the bandits took to go further into the woods, it's beady eyes stare back, a hunger about it as it sizes up the party.

Surprise round, Fizzlewhisk, Annalisa, and Ordrik may make an action.

The thing bursts forth, rushing forward to attack one of the three that is spotted.

Random determine: 1d3 ⇒ 2 Annalisa it is!

Bite Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 [ooc]And a miss![/dice]

Male Dwarf Warpriest 1(HP10/10), (AC17, T11, FF16), (Saves F5, R2, W4)+2 Vs Poison, Spell, SLA, (CMB 2, CMD 13), Init 1, Percep 2 +2 vs Stone

Surprise round
Ordrik seeing something slavering and coming out of the woods, drops the crossbow that he just picked up and draws his warhammer.
Hey people, heads up He yells

Round 1
Ordrik, looking at the creature. [b]Hey You beatie, pick on someone your own size.[/b[
He then moves to flank with Annalisa and the beast. If I can
and attempts to break it's back with his warhammer.

attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Sigh, good damage, crappy to hit.

Female Human (Ulfen) Barbarian/1

Having kept her sword out after the last attacks, Annalisa is ready to meet the creature head on:
Longsword 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

But she is thrown by its sudden lunge for her and misses landing her blow, even as it misses sinking its teeth into her.

Male Gnome Ranger/1

Shocked the gnome hastily throws a dagger from his belt at the beady-eyed attacker. "Aaah!" The gnome's high-pitched squeal cuts through the air.

Dagger: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage: 1d3 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

Male Human hp13/13 Rage hp16/16 AC19 T12 FF17 int+2 BloodRager 1 Percp+4 Surv+5

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

On my Turn:
Blood rage, free, draw sword as part of move action to engage and Standard action to attack. I have a 20' move.

Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Longsword: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Surprised by the ferocity of the attack, Marcian responds in kind. Dark red energy lights his eyes as he wills power forth from the depths of his being.

Female Human (Ulfen) Barbarian/1

Suppose I shoulda rolled initiative as well. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

What's the creature like!?

Human, Female, Witch 1, 7/7, AC 11, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4, Init +1

Male Dwarf Warpriest 1(HP10/10), (AC17, T11, FF16), (Saves F5, R2, W4)+2 Vs Poison, Spell, SLA, (CMB 2, CMD 13), Init 1, Percep 2 +2 vs Stone

I knew I forgot something when I came in from work this morning.

init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

Male Human (Kellid) Shaman (Mammoth)

Init: 1d20 ⇒ 5

Male Gnome Ranger/1

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Sorry, life... Alright, catch up time!

Ordrik and Annalisa rush forward, engaging the beast as it roars in anger that it's "sneaking" failed. But when Fizzlewhisk arrives, switchscythe in hand, it almost looks like it was a mighty blow. Sadly, the icy sheen on it's scales appear to be more than simply the result of it's environment!

Monster Init!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Fizzlewhisk = 19
Annalisa = 16
Ordrik = 15
Runa = 10
Aðvinr = 5 (Fizzlewhisk through Aðvinr are BLOCK A)
Monster = 3
Marcian = 3
Grimkell = 3 @Grimkell: The creature looks to be about two meters long, a dragon like head but almost comically short forelimbs (think T-Rex short), but the thing has a coiled up like strength. A Knowledge (arcana) check may reveal more! Also, Marcian and Grimkell are BLOCK B.

I'll retain Marcian action unless they wish to retain it, but otherwise, BLOCK A may do their actions.

Male Dwarf Warpriest 1(HP10/10), (AC17, T11, FF16), (Saves F5, R2, W4)+2 Vs Poison, Spell, SLA, (CMB 2, CMD 13), Init 1, Percep 2 +2 vs Stone

Torag, grant me strength.

Not fully sure of the creature, Ordrik steps slightly back.

move equivilant 5' adjust, or move away, what ever is appropriate. Standard cast divine favour

Human, Female, Witch 1, 7/7, AC 11, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4, Init +1

Knowledge Arcana Check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Runa:
You recognize it as an Arctic Tatzlwyrm, a dreaded creature of the northern wastes. You exceeded the DC by 5, as well, so you may ask one spoilered question about it as well.

Human, Female, Witch 1, 7/7, AC 11, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4, Init +1

Question:

What's it's main weakness?

Answer:
It has fire vulnerability

Male Gnome Ranger/1

The gnome lashes out with his switchscythe, swinging blindly at the creature.

Switchscythe: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

Female Human (Ulfen) Barbarian/1

Annalisa swings her longsword uselessly once more.
Longsword 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Human, Female, Witch 1, 7/7, AC 11, Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +4, Init +1

Runa will take a few steps back and cast ray of frost on the creature, knowing her spell isn't going to do much to the creature.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Just need Aðvinr's post, then we can move on. If it isn't posted within a few hours, I'll GMPC his action then move on.

Male Human (Kellid) Shaman (Mammoth)

Striding towards the creature, Aðvinr begins an ancient primal chant. All who can hear it feel the instinctual fear of lesser beings huddled around a campfire, trying not to hear the sounds in the darkness as he focuses on the monster, instilling it with abject primeval terror.

Cast Cause fear

Male Human hp13/13 Rage hp16/16 AC19 T12 FF17 int+2 BloodRager 1 Percp+4 Surv+5

You know what I will do when my time comes:)

The monster surges forward at Annalisa, snapping at her with it's powerful jaws.

Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Grapple: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

Clamping down hard on her leg, it latches on hard and doesn't want to let go!

Female Human (Ulfen) Barbarian/1

Oh noes! Not mah leg!

Also, I'm so lost on the turn order since no one seems to stick to it!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Recovering from the surprise, Grimkell stares intently at the creature before letting out an inhuman shriek which sounds like at mixture of a yelling and wind gusts. His gaze unwavering, he then proceeds to walk toward the it reciting an old epic song in skald. As the others hear the rythm of the song, reminiscent of the sound of battle, they are filled with the desire to loose themselves in the fight, letting their instincts take over.

Move action to approach the creature, standard action to start raging song.

+2 morale bonus to Strength and Constitution and a +1 morale bonus on Will saving throws, but also take a –1 penalty to AC

It seems to me that Aneirin does not care for the exact turn order, letting us play in blocs: 1)All characters who have higher init than ennemy, 2) ennemy, 3) all characters who have lower init than ennemy.

Male Human (Kellid) Shaman (Mammoth)

Safe to assume Cause Fear failed rather than being overlooked?

Male Human hp13/13 Rage hp16/16 AC19 T12 FF17 int+2 BloodRager 1 Percp+4 Surv+5

Action posted Here just in case it was being waited on or forgotten.

Female Human (Ulfen) Barbarian/1

I'm guessing that since it wasn't written as grab or improved grapple etc that she gets the AoO.

Longsword 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

On her turn:
Annalisa struggles to break the creatures hold on her.
Break the grapple: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
