The android gives Kalkan a hopeless look. [b]"My boss is whoever gives me orders, especially if he or she holds controls for my collar. Knowing who gave me orders a few minutes ago tells me very little about who will give me orders a few minutes from now. If you are asking about the boss of this place, he's probably somewhere in the offices, or else somewhere else trying to 'break' new merchandise.
Compucast
|
"Where would he go to 'break in' the new staff?" asks compucast. "His office? It sounds like that is where we must go."
Kalkan Toprak
|
"Agreed. Let's go to the office. Slave owners have now place on Verces. " Kalkan groups back up with the others.
| Spacefarer Redelia |
"He wouldn't be breaking staff; he would be breaking merchandise, as in androids he plans to sell. We don't know where he does that. The office is through either of those sets of doors."
I know the map is a bit confusing; I've marked the two possible doors with yellow arrows.
K'Klacklun
|
K'Klacklun quietly suggests to Compucast, "Perhaps, what we need to do to gain access to certain 'merchandise', is to arrange a meeting with the boss for a possible'purchase'."
He then finishes his latest glass of nectar.
| Spacefarer Redelia |
The adventure assumes that you'll go into the back rooms at this point and try to find what you came here for. I know you want to deal with the android slavery situation, and you will be able to do at least a bit of that if you explore as the adventure expects.
Compucast
|
Compucast orders two more drinks, suitable for the Vesk. Then slinging his staff behind him he approaches the two Vesk on guard duty, offering each of them a glass.
"Not a great planet for warriors. I hope at least you two are being paid well. Grab a drink and take five I need some quiet time with the boss."
Codename "BalloonBoy"

Balloonboy floats down a little above Compucast...
Intimidate: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
While the floating Barathu doesn't say anything, a floating heavily armored tentacle monster flying behind a well armed vesk is a surprisingly effective tactic to convince people to accept a drink and walk away.
Kalkan Toprak
|
Kalkan steps up behind Balloonboy and frowns.
Intimidate, Aid: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
It doesn't really add to the effect. Well, I always was the good cop.
| Spacefarer Redelia |
Between the offer of a drink and the threat of a floating creature with lots of armor, the vesk guards studiously show you their backs and pay attention to other customers of the establishment.
OK, guys, which door? fire exit to the east, or other door to the south?
Compucast
|
Compucast smiles at the guards, showing his fangs and heading through the south door.
"South, now" he whispers into his comlink.
Dalron Northfield
|
Deloran heads for the south door, does a quick look if the door is alarmed.
PERCEPTION: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
If none, he opens the door takes a quick look around from the doorway and waits for the others to enter before walking in and closing the door behind himself.
K'Klacklun
|
K'Klacklun sets his empty glass down on the bar and follows the others to the south door.
Compucast
|
"I calculate the chances are highest for the door at the end." notes the Techomancer.
"Lead on Garven, you are much more atuned to spotting security systems than I am."
Kalkan Toprak
|
" Sounds good to me. If we move quickly we can check both. " Kalkan steps up to the door and checks it for traps.
Perception : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Garven
|
"Sure thing, let me take a look"
Garven will search the doors immediately in front of them as they enter the hall. If he spots anything suspicious he'll try and identify it.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

K'Klacklun
|
K'Klacklun heads in the direction he believes that Compucast indicated. Are those steps that lead up to the door?
He takes a look at the door. Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
He, feeling unusually confident, yet whether this is brought on by his comfort in dealing with technological devices or simply too much nectar, he tries the door. If it is locked... He tries to open it. Engineering: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
| Spacefarer Redelia |
K'Klacklun easily gets the door to open.
Inside is an office. It contains several workstations as well as a fully stocked bar. K'Klacklun, since I have a feeling you wrote the above post just as I was posting, I'm going to take that nice perception roll and apply it to looking around inside the office.
K'Klacklun notices that a painting on the wall seems askew in a suspicious manner.
There are also two doors on the north wall, one of which leads to the conference room you just saw.
K'Klacklun
|
K'Klacklun cocks his head to match the off-set painting. "Most curious... and far from aesthetically pleasing." he notes. "I theorize that its askew positioning may be better explained by an alterative functionality rather than a decorating faux pas."
He examines the picture more closely to see what it may be hiding.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
K'Klacklun
|
"I am indeed well-versed in multiple forms of programming languages and protocols." K'Klacklun responds without any sign of humility. He then attempts to access the panel.
Computers: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Kalkan Toprak
|
Kalkan peeks over the shirren's shoulder, offering helpful advice. "Whoops, missed a semi-colon there. Close that bracket."
Computers, aid: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
He frowns at the remaining door, imagining who is hiding behind it.
| Spacefarer Redelia |
With Kalkan's help, K'Klacklun is able to get into the computer, and is presented with a menu that would let him do any of the following:
-turn off the androids' control collars
-open the safe (you're not sure where the safe is yet)
-theatrical effects
-strobe lights on dance floor
You also know that you could (with another computers check) get control over all these functions from your own datapad or communications device.
K'Klacklun
|
K'Klacklun attempts to download all of the functions from the computer to his own device.
Computers: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Compucast
|
"Let me help you with that." offers Compucast.
computers: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
"I suspect the safe must be in an even more secure location. If we continue along this passage we might yet find it."
Deloran Starrunner
|
I can help you get it on your data pad
Computers: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Your data pad is much better than the ones I am used to using, the data just seems to fly across.
K'Klacklun
|
"Why, thank you for noticing!" K'Klacklun responds to Deloran, more proudly and more loudly than the current situation would advise. "My data storage and retrieval device is one of my own custom build and unique design. The key to it's increased efficiency, of course, is the use of nano-bonded micro-circuits, which actually speed up electron flow through the conductive relays... "
Unless, someone were to interrupt, K'Klacklun is prepared to provide several minutes of discourse in the strengths of his design.
Garven
|
Garven interrupts K'Klacklun's detailed presentation with the more urgent business. "We should find the safe before we open it, but maybe we could free the androids now? They could cause a distraction IF we think they can fend for themselves against the goons out there."
He will head toward the stairs but only if others agree and are following him out. If so he takes a good look in the next room.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Kalkan Toprak
|
Kalkan holds his finger to his mouth and shushed K'klacklun gently. " Time for that later. Business now. The safe must be through that door. The boss might be through there too. If we go back to the club, we can initiate all of the options, except the safe, in secret. Then, during the chaos, the boss will run out there and we can run back in there. " He folds his arms and looks rather proud. "No need for bloodshed this time. We can be sneaky. "
K'Klacklun
|
"Oh, Hylax's mercies, yes! Let there be no bloodshed." says K'Klacklun as he follows along.
| K'Klacklun's B.U.G. |
Despite the shirren's hope for no bloodshed, the drone is released from the backpack and begins to hover close behind.
K'Klacklun
|
"Oh, for the wisdom of the Forever Queen! If we plan to provide freedom to those enslaved, should we not let them know of our intent to do so in advance, so that they may be prepared?" K'Klacklun asks the others.
Kalkan Toprak
|
Kalkan moves among crowd, stopping at points and staring at the closest android slave. His voice fills their mind, as well as the Starfinders'. "Triune and Hylax smile upon you today. You will be free soon. Take advantage of your opportunity when it arises."
He then returns to K'klacklun. "The people are prepared for their freedom party. Get those lights and effects going using the pad. Then release the collars. After we see someone leave the back room, or the chaos is overtaking us, let's go back and unlock the safe." The shirren rubs his hands together, ready for action.
K'Klacklun
|
K'Klacklun shrugs and presses the touch display on his device, which activates the pre-programmed routine he had input earlier.
First, smoke effects start to billow forth from the stage as the speakers begin to play a loud, but not too earsplitting, version of shirren classical musical. (I am thinking of a sound similar to the chirping of crickets, but with the depth and reverberation of cellos)
This is followed by the flashing of strobe lights across the dance floor, choreographed to distract and then illuminate the stations of the guards. The commencement of which, is almost immediately followed by the deactivation of the androids' control collars.
K'Klacklun
|
"Well of course it will work!" K'Klacklun says in response. "I programmed the routine myself." The shirren heads to one of the corner bars and orders one more nectar--for the road--before he executes the command on his device.

Compucast

Compucast follows the others out to the dance floor but stays near the doors back to the corridor.
"Lets be quick about this, the distraction won't last long.."
