Male Human Mutant/12

"That's probably for the best, I'm not very good." Kar says smiling, "Course I'm usually just cooking over a fire."

"Man, I'm still in awe of how much you were able to eat and still stay so slim." Kar says jokingly, "That's more than I've ever seen one man, lt alone woman, eat. I fear dark magicks must be at work!" He says sarcastically.

Morning all.

[Starts trying to catch up on posts]

Male Human Mutant/12

Aloha all! Yep, we did some posting without ya!

I can see that. I can also see the Quo forgot someone...

There's the sound of someone crashing to the floor and a shout of "Ryo, duck!" just before a small gray blur flies into the room, aimed straight at Ryo. Lucky for him, he took the shouted advice, and the blur soars over him to brace against the wall. It's a small gray kitten with wings, and it leaps off the wall to fly at Ryo again, but is caught this time.

A young half-orc craddling a rather large serpent walks in shortly after Ryo cathes the flying furball.

"He knocked me down when he saw Ryleh and figured out that meant you were here."

Ryo laughs as the kitten wiggles out of his grip and crawls back and forth across his shoulders.
"It's good to see you too."

"Kar, this small ball of clawed fluff is Ruji, probably the oldest kitten you'll ever see. The kid holding the snake is Ormarr, my oldest charge. Like Addy, I had to take him before his magic got anymore out of hand."

She laughed at Ruji's antics.

"Hi, Ormarr. Ooh, an anaconda. Nice. I don't think I've ever seen one this close before." :)

Sorry for the disappearance yesterday. I was reviewing the thread to make sure I didn't mess up any of the names. I was plotting something evil. Bwahahahaha. ;)

Go ahead, plot away. I've been doing the smae thing.

Spoiler:
A student(about the triplets age) absently playing a guitar walks over to the Sunwakes as the look around the School. "Hello, you're here to see the Headmaster right?" He looks at Aananda, and for the briefest moment, his eyes change from green to purple as his pupils become slits... then he blinks and points down the hallway. "He's at the other end of the hall, trying to catch my brother and get him to take his A.T.'s off while he's outside of the arena." He walks off, phantom music lingering behind him.

Of course, we'll need to get the aging thing down. I'm thinking the grow like humans until about 20. Afterall, wouldn't the monks have noticed if Aananada and Chan were growing slower than the other children?

They did notice. Keep in mind Aananda is 26 and looks like she's seventeen. The monks were so busy keeping up with Aananda's antics, they never really had a chance to stop and think about it. They just assumed the twins were small for their age. :)

Male Human Mutant/12

Kar walks over and shakes Ormarr's hand, seeming not caring about the presnce of the snake. "Nice pet, what's it's name?" Kar asks.

So....what time of day is it? Let's see we had lunch, and then we gathered some ingredients and stuff for dinner....waiting for dark. <Insert evil laughter here.>

"Since I know them all by heart, I don't name the snakes. There just never seemed to be any need to do it. Razzy started calling this beauty 'the Big One' after he got over his intial freak-out. The little guy just doesn't seem to like snakes at all..." Ormarr laughs. "Which is too bad, since we share a room."

A young boy pushes Ormarr out of the way.
"It wouldn't be so bad if you stopped wiping away the snake-repellent I made. A bunch of your scaly friends curled up next to me is not what I'd like to see in the morning when I wake up!"

"Hi, I'm Razzy." He says as he glances at Kar before handing some notebooks to Aananda. "Here are the notes you asked for." He then turns to glare at Ryo. "I know you got us gifts, where are they?"

Razule Yrrum wrote:

"Well thanks for ruing the surprise Razule" Ryo ducks to avoid the vial thrown at his head, "but I was saving them for later. You got some new cook-ware on your bed. Addy and Ormarr, I got you some gifts too, also on your beds."

"The notes I asked for...Oh! Yes, thank you. I'll want to go over these right away."

She sits down in a corner and starts paging through the notes. She hmms and frowns a lot.

"Okay," she mutters, "so the virus mimics the bonds between the....hmmmmmm...."

She sets down her datapad and hits a series of buttons. A holodisplay comes up and she starts manipulating the pieces of the molecules pictured, trying to see if she has the right idea. Her eyes take on their draconic appearance as she works.

Male Human Mutant/12

Kar smiles at Ormarr's snake, turning just when Razule blows past them.

Kar watches with a smirk on his face as Razule ruins Ryo's surprise, not saying anything. But when he sees the holodisplay light up he stands watching it surprised for a moment, not yet noticing the change in Aananda's eyes.

I'm assuming this kind of tech is not unheard of in Agartha. if it is then chalk his normality up to the belief that it's magic in nature.

Well, the vampirism notes weren't what I was talking about, but oh well, it gets them out of the way.

We got hover-vehicles, but I'd say the holo-pad's pretty new to Agartha. Anyway, I've got to go. See ya guys later. Feel free to take over for Ryo and the others if need be.

This kind of tech is totally unheard of in Agartha. She brought back some tech from the Empire and modified it. Effectively it might as well be magic. :)

"Hmmmm.....that won't work, but if I adjust it like this...yeah, that's it. Not there yet, but definitely on the right path..."

"You're gonna need to build me at least a small lab for this project, Ryo. Even the prelim experiments are gonna require full biohazard protocols. But you've got time. It's gonna take me a while to finish going through all of this. Molecular Biochemistry isn't my strongest subject."

It sounds like she's speaking a foreign language to Kar. Agartha tech is more at the steampunk level. Now, imagine dumping Tony Stark into that and you've got some idea of Aananda's technical abilities.:)

Apologies. The other notes were supposed to go to Ryleh and I honestly totally forgot she ever asked for them....in spite of having re-read the entire thread in the last two days. D'oh!

Actually I'm out for the rest of today too. Have errands I must run. See y'all tomorrow.

Male Human Mutant/12

Well with all that technology he's just looking at it as if it's magic.

Kar watches the holodisplay with a mixed face of wonder and skepticism. "What is that, I've never seen anything like it before?" He says, not taking his eyes off of it.

Male Elf (reincarnated - originally Human) Fighter 5 / Wizard 6 / Arcane Gunslinger 6

Mornin' all. Time to see if I can get back on the horse, so to speak... :/

Master Quo wrote:

An old man wearing loose robes wanders into the room.

"Ah. I see I was not hearing things after all. Welcome back.." he does a double take when he sees Tam, "from your obviously very eventful trip."

"And a newcomer. Pleased to meet you, boyo. I'm Quo, formerly of the Temple of Falling Water. Unfortunately the Temple has become a rather hostile environment of late so here I am. You must have just gotten here. I know you weren't here when I went for my afternoon na- er, meditation. Hope these young whippersnappers have been making you feel welcome."

Tam, starting to get a bit self-conscious about the whole elf body thing, is quietly grateful for the arrival of the newcomer, as it gives him some time to his own thoughts as conversation whirls on around him - and food flies every which way. (^.^)

At that, Tam snaps out of his fugue state.

"Oh - I took care of that before we left. We actually scored some nice bits of tech from the supply pallet," he says with a wink. "I just need an empty room to activate it in." :)

Kar Whitefall wrote:

"That's because it's from where I come from, which isn't Agartha," Tam replies. "It's a datapad - essentially an electronic 'book' that holds a lot more than one book ever could. Well, barring magic, of course," as he corrects himself.

As Kar turns at the sound of his voice, he notices that the elf is actually not dressed like any of the others either. The coat/duster he had on before they went inside doesn't look too different from outerwear he's seen in his travels, but the form-fitting garment underneath is new to him. All he can see of Tam's skin is his hands, neck and head - the rest is covered in the dark gray material, which almost looks like it is a single piece.

The belt he wears has many small, cylindrical pouches along it, and an odd-looking, wand-like item is secured in a larger pouch/frog that depends down on the left side and attaches to his mid thigh.

The old man chuckled. "Well, I for one am glad you gave her that gadget. And I bet Ryo is too. It sure beats how she used to do complicated calculations. I still don't know where she was getting all that chalk, but you should have seen Master Kwang the time she covered an entire side of the pyramid in equations. Thought he was gonna burst a blood vessel."

That pulled her attention away from the holodisplay for a whole twenty seconds. She smiled at him.

"Wonderful. That makes things a lot easier."

And then she was back to trying to manipulate molecular structures.

"Yeah - we definitely don't have enough wall space for that. I like my solution better" he replied, shaking his head. ;)

Aananda will continue working on her calculations until someone takes the datapad away and tells her to go to sleep. Her eyes will revert back to human as soon as her concentration on her work is broken.

Thinking better of trying to set up the lab when she's in 'think tank' mode, Tam gives her a few hours, gets stuff unloaded in their room, then comes back down and gently pulls the datapad out of her hands.

"I think that's enough brainstorming for one day, hon," as he saves her work then powers the device down. "C'mon - let's get some rest," as he pulls her up from her chair and puts an arm around her waist.

"huh? What? ....oh. I guess I got kinda caught up, huh?" ^.^

She leans her head on his shoulder and yawns.

In the middle of the night, while everyone was sleeping and the house was dark and quiet, things were happening outside.

The quiet was shattered by a long piercing scream from just outside the wards.

"Sorry! Sorry! That was me - I'm still getting used to this 'total lack of body hair' elf thing. I really shouldn't have skin this silky smooth..." :/

[N.B.: I have no idea where that came from. I'll go sit down now... ;P]

Varhonnen the Shadowmancer sighed wearily. "Do you have any idea how much time I spent on that entrance? I do so hate comedians. I shall enjoy ending you."

;)

"Oooooo....cranky."

[Blink, blink]

"Oops, I did it again, didn't I? Sorry about that - carry on with the villainy then..."

(^-^)

Aananda sat bolt upright in bed.

"Did you hear that?"

A second scream rent the air, coming from just outside the wards. It sounded human and terrified beyond reason.

"I heard that" Tam replies with a start. "I don't recognize the voice..." as he gets up and heads for his clothes.

Aananda scrambled to get dressed as well, and raced down the stairs to go and see what was going on.

Outside her eyes were surprisingly obscured by large patches of darkness, but the one thing that she could see clearly was a small female child struggling to free herself from creatures that looked like they were made from shadows.

"Disturbing isn't it," a cold voice hissed. The voice carried surprisingly well, audible even within the house even though he wasn't shouting. "The poor thing might die of fright at any moment. But you can stop that. All you have to do is step outside the wards, girl. Step outside and surrender to me and I will let the girl and the other children I've collected go. And your friends will get to live. Isn't that nice of me? It's all up to you now."

Male Human Mutant/12

Kar awakens in his chair, bolt upright, claws shaped on the ends of his hands.

Remembering that no one here knows, he reshapes his hands back to the appearance that he wore earlier, grabbing the lent shirt and putting it back on, he gets up and heads outside to see what is happening.

I knew that I forgot something on that class, darkvision!!! I'll await you telling me what all what Kar knows before I start trying to save the girl, lol.

There is some moonlight, but without some light source he can't see much more than a child struggling against shadowy attackers, unless he has low-light vision in which case he has a much lower chance of tripping on something on the way there. :)

"Or I can just stop you from here," Tam replies as he steps out into the yard, one hand at his belt, the other clenched shut.

"Now as I'm still sleepy, and the list of ne'er do wells who have a beef with us is pretty long, who the heck are you playing fetch for, sunshine?"

If she doesn't choose to come out of these wards and surrender the consequences will be unfortunate. Especially for little Mary here. Or was it Laura? Humans are so short-lived. It's hard to keep track."

"Yeah - I get that a lot. Hurts my feelings, truly."

Tam's hands move in a blur, and he slams a caster shell home and fires.

Greater Dispel Magic, set to area dispel (20 ft. radius burst, centered just above where the girl is) - it'll even work on conjured creatures (^.^)

Dispel Check: 1d20 + 16 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 16 + 4 = 24

[EDIT]: Whoohoo - great way to end the week. I think his luck is permanently broken... (;_;)

Happy weekend all :)

The voice laughs as Tam's dispel fails to effect his creatures.

Male Human Mutant/12

Kar looks out at the girl being tortured, struggling with the decision of whether or not to go and help her. He could shift into another form, but that would definitally require some explanation.

Any way for Kar to determine some likely chosen forms that he would already have. I know he can freely choose elf, and constrictor snake as he saw those earlier today.

Well, since you only just joined the group, I think that's totally up to you. The area you've been travelling through recently (i.e. the area around Ryo's house) is temperate, if that helps any.

I'm thinking Dire Tiger would do nicely. It's avaliable in any plains environment.

Well, he did meet Ruji, and I'm sure Tamrin remembers how he first meet Ruji, so there is that.

*looks up at the sky as a large shadow passes over*
Where did that winged dire-tiger come from? ^-^

"One thing you should know... I don't take kindly to people who endanger children. You also interrupted my sleep, which means I'm cranky."

Ryo walks out of the house, standing next to Tamrin, Ruji perched on his shoulder. Neither look happy.

"Fate has delt you a bad hand indeed, to send you here. Why don't you shed some light on the situation and tell us exactly why you're here?"

Serpentine eyes glow faintly in the night, and vines weave slowly to form create a circle...
