Male Human Mutant/12

Kar looks out at the child struggling and at the creature torturing her, rage flaring in his eyes. "She needs help." Kar says, "We can't just leave her out there to suffer and die."

"No, of course we can't."

She moved her arms and the earth beneath the shadowy forms moved like a wave. But rather than being knocked over they simply floated up, still holding onto the child.

The deep voice chuckled again. "You'll have to do better than that. You could end her suffering right now, girl. All you have to do is step outside the wards and surrender. Such a simple trade."

The child screamed as one of her captors reached out a shadowy claw and traced it down her cheek. Blood dripped down her face.

Happy Monday all.

"Assuming we're dealing with the real thing here," Tam mutters as he slams another shell home and takes aim....at the girl.

Ranged Touch Attack Roll: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (16) + 23 = 39

Telekinesis (sustained force) - she will be moved 20 feet per round towards Tam; as they are right at the edge of the wards, he should be able to move her within their protection before the shadows can react again.

And if she isn't what she seems to be...well, 'she'll' just have a bad night then, won't she? ;)

"Ah, a lucky shot," the voice said, amused as the sobbing child collapsed in a heap inside the wards. "Such a good thing that I brought spares."

Shadows parted to reveal a large net full of struggling children, at least a dozen of them. A young boy is dragged out kicking and screaming and held prisoner by the shadows in the same way the girl had been. The net disappears from view as the shadows close ranks around it again.

"As you can see, I can keep this up for quite some time. It would be better if the girl would simply surrender now."

Male Elf (reincarnated - originally Human) Fighter 5 / Wizard 6 / Arcane Gunslinger 6

Fingers crossed...

"Just the moment of pride I was waiting for..."

Tam slams shells home into his Caster as he sends a volley of spells downrange.

Ranged Touch Attack Roll 1: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (17) + 23 = 40
Wall of Light, cast 20 feet beyond the edge of the wards, occupying sixteen 10-foot squares of space, curving around and meeting up with the wards to surround the shadows and dispel the darkness (as the spell Daylight). If any of the shadow creatures try to go through the wall, they become dazzled for the duration of the spell (16 minutes). This should reveal the children trapped in the net again...
Roll for SR Penetration for shadows that try to get through the wall: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18

Ranged Touch Attack Roll 2: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 18 = 28
Forceward - a hemisphere of force energy surrounding the children's net. The shadows, being incorporeal, will not be able to get through to touch them again.

Ranged Touch Attack Roll 3: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
1d3 ⇒ 1
Storm of Shards - this spell only affects evil creatures. Fort 20 or permanently blinded, and Reflex 20 to halve the damage from the celestial energy that rains down on the area (an 80-foot radius spread, centered just behind ole' 'Sunshine'.) Damage is 16d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 4, 1, 1, 3, 6, 6, 3, 3, 5, 6, 2, 2, 2) = 59 divine.
Roll for SR Penetration: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20

The shadows writhed and dissolved under the sudden onslaught of light and holy energy. The little boy is able to get away in the confusion and runs forward to join the girl still sobbing just inside the border of the wards.

The voice chuckled.

"A good shot. But you forget one thing. I can do this all night. Can you?"

A sibilant chanting fills the air and a half dozen shadows spring to life between the wards and the children.

Ryo watches closely as the creature trades blows with Tamrin, then smiles as he taps Aananda's shoulder.

"There are two things right now that can help, but one I'd like your permission for. That thing uses shadows. Addy has a pair of plants that could help, but they'll take time to grow big enough." He whispers.

"Okay, so what can I do to help?" she whispered back.

He looks at the creature, and now that she's looking, Aananda can see Ryo's nothing more than the 'mites' she sees when looking for magic...

Sorry I'm logging in so late, it's amazes me how long I can sleep after staying up and watching Zombieland.

Well, it is a great movie. :)

Aananda nods. She steps forward into clear sight.

"Please," she calls out, "just let the children go. They don't have anything to do with this."

She can see something shimmer just outside the wards.

"Was I not clear? All you have to do is step outside the wards. Otherwise something...unfortunate...might happen."

A huge shadow starts moving across the ground towards the children.

"To you maybe." A voice echoes. "Weren't you just told you shouldn't mess with children?"

A darkness surges out from the garden, slamming into the shadow before it even gets close to the kids. It writhes as it it grows and takes shape.

"Now why don't we do a little shadow-boxing?"

"Keaton can keep the kids safe, keep Mr. Shadow's attention divided as best you can. Feel free to throw some of the brink walls around the garden at him, Addy doesn't like them anyway." The figment Ryo whispers.

The voice grunts with frustration. It sounds like its coming from inside the shadow Keaton just slammed into.

"You shouldn't meddle in things that are none of your concern."

Attempted slam attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30

Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4, electricity: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1) = 8

"Got it."

Aananda mentally picked up the top half of about a two foot length of the brick wall, shooting those bricks at the huge shadow.

Ranged touch: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29

Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 5, 3) = 12

The shadow slams Keaton square in the chest, but that seems to be all it does.

"Not my concern? I think that is for me to decide." He says as he waves his hand and calls a cloud of silver dust into existence to fall over the darkness.

Glitterdust, DC 17 Will save or be blinded.

Will save: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29

Well, I've got to go now. I'll try to get on earlier tommorrow if I can.

Male Human Mutant/12

In a flash, Kar tears off the shirt, screaming in both pain and rage. As he screams, his voice distorts and reverberates, turning into an animal roar.

As he finally sheds the shirt, his body begins changing. His legs extend and distort, and his hands and feet become paws. his whole body sprouts fur, and his head changes into that of a feline, fangs and claws curling outward.

As the transformation completes, in his stead is standing a large tiger, and it's getting larger by the second, standing a full fifteen feet tall.

OOC- Change form as a move action into Dire Tiger, then use Size to become huge size. I'll update his character's base ability scores aswell as his HP. he has a 15ft space and 10ft reach (it's 10x15x10, 10 wide, 15 long, 10 tall, with a 10ft reach.)

Male Elf (reincarnated - originally Human) Fighter 5 / Wizard 6 / Arcane Gunslinger 6

What in the nine hells happened to my post...? o.O

Alright, let's try this again...

The voice chuckled.

"A good shot. But you forget one thing. I can do this all night. Can you?"

Tam just smirks.

"Watch me," as he drops the Forceward around the children while slamming another shell home. He then fires at them.

Ranged Touch Attack Roll:1d20 + 23 ⇒ (15) + 23 = 38
Tractor Beam - he can move up to 4,000 lbs at a speed of 100 feet per round. He lifts the children in the net up into the air (well out of reach of the intervening shadows) and brings them inside the wards and sets them down.

Once they are down safely, Tam spares a glance over at Kar (and all the wet popping noises he is making), nodding as he finishes the change.

"I believe your new chew toys are right over there," he says, pointing at the shadows. "Let me get you dressed to play..." as he loads another shell, then shoots at him.

Ranged Touch Attack Roll:1d20 + 18 ⇒ (19) + 18 = 37
1d4 ⇒ 1
Sunmantle - Kar is covered in a wavering field of light that illuminates (and dispels darkness effects) as a Daylight spell. He gains DR 5/-, and if anything strikes him in melee, a tendril of light strikes the attacker unerringly for 5 points of untyped damage. There is no limit to the number of 'counterattacks' the spell can make, and it will last for 16 rounds.

"Go get 'em, tiger."

The shadows reach ineffectually at the children, wounding a few as they pass, but are unable to grab them away before they are pulled inside the wards.

The shadows around Varhonnen ripple and change, spreading across the ground underneath Keaton.

DC 22 Will save to disbelieve illusory terrain.

Will Save: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25

"Ooh, nice bit of magic you just tried. To bad it didn't work."
His maul glows silver as he pushes energy into it, slamming it down on the shadows and causing a tiny shockwave.

Using the Hideous Blow Invocation.
Attack:1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
Damage:2d6 + 8 + 3d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 8 + (3, 3, 4) + (4, 5) = 36

Guess who got drafted for moving stuff?

"Well that certainly makes things easier," says the figment as Tamrin pulls the children in and Kar changes into a tiger.

The earth outside the wards begins to tremble ever so slightly as large buds start to rise up in the garden.

One more round... hehehe.

Ruji, flying from the figment's shoulder(strange considering it's an illusion), circles the(most likely) terrified children an tries to get them in the house.

The shadow figure grunts as it takes the hit. It seems to take a little less of the damage than it should.

Can I get an initiative order or should I just post once for every time the bad guys do?

Kar Whitefall wrote:

Okay, so this may vary by who's running the bad guys, but I know when I do....I'm just making stuff up. Good at story, crappy at math. I have dyscalculia. This is why I nearly had a nervous breakdown the one time I tried to GM in a real life game. I try to at least keep my fiction consistent and reasonably balanced, but no, I'm not remotely keeping track of initiative counter. Please, feel free to act. Once for every time the bad guys do seems fair. You currently have about six shadows standing between you and the main baddie.

Male Human Mutant/12

OOC- Not sure if that illusory terrain applies for Kar, will make the save if needed

Kar, now the size of an elephant with the form of a tiger, dashes foreward, slashing out into the two closest shadows.

Ok, so 2 claws against one, one claw against another. He's using his magical gloves (That change shape with him) so they're +2 flaming attacks.

Claws (1d20+17=27, 1d20+12=32)

Secondary Claw (1d20+12=28)

Claw damage (3d6+10=19, 3d6+10=23, 3d6+10=17)

"Only if you can hit me!" Keaton mocks as he sidesteps the swing and returns the favor twofold.

1st Attack:1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23
Damage:2d6 + 8 ⇒ (6, 3) + 8 = 17

2nd Attack:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Damage:2d6 + 8 ⇒ (5, 6) + 8 = 19

The trembling outside the wards increases ten fold, then one hundred, as a huge semi-circle of earth and stone rises up fence in the shadows.

"Now!" Ryo(the real one) shouts from atop the 30ft wall.

The two large plants growing in the garden bloom, revealing strangley shaped flowers. Like floodlights, they fill the semi-circle with light and shoot seeds at the shadows.

Okay, so we got a widened Daylight from both plants and a normal one from the spell on Kar. The flowers are shooting the acorn version of fire seeds at caster level 10, but each one is only getting 5 such seeds(each doing 2d4 out of a possible 10d4). Both are aiming at the big bad shadow.

1st Flower's Ranged touch attack:1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
Damage:2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

2nd Flower's Ranged touch attack:1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Damage:2d4 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7

Oh, and in case you haven't figured it out, Addy mixed sunflowers and snapdragons to see what would happen.

Edit: off to move stuff again! :(

The remaining shadows melt away in the increased light, and the fire seeds hit their mark dealing with the rest of the lich's protective shadows. Now that his face is visible, Ryo recognizes him as Chan's doorkeeper, the one who stabbed him in the back.

Aananda helps Ruji herd the terrified children inside the house.

Sounds of battle can still be heard from the other side of the house. The only combatants not currently present are Ryleh and Master Quo, so they're probably dealing with more shadows.

There are a couple dozen shadows still left on the other side of the house, but it looks like Quo and Ryleh are having no real trouble with clean-up duty.

Seeing that Master Quo and Ryleh are alright for the moment, Tam redirects his attention to the shadows ganging up on Kar. Noting how easily they fell to his claws, he risks spreading his attacks out to thin their ranks.
