I will also buy: Travelers clothes, 15 signal whistles (one for everyone), 2 more bars of soap, and 2 days worth of rations. This takes up all my available gp.

HP: 24 (24) | AC: 18 | Saves: Str: +0; Dex: +3; Con: +2; Int: +0; Wis: +2; Cha: +5 | Init: +2 | Spell Slots: 1 (2)

I actually don't need a weapon, as I have combat cantrips, but I have been pretty successful with the crossbow so far, so I'd like to hang onto it.

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (Draconic) 3 - HP 23/23 - AC 15 - Perception 13 - SP 3/3

I agree with Bryn's suggestions, and we seem to be getting a well rounded set of equipment. I don't really need much more than the clothing and the staff, but I wouldn't mind if we grabbed kept some rope or the like just in case.

Male Half-Elf Paladin 3; AC 14, HP 0/0*, perception 10, spells: 1st - 2/3

What about (with Aten's and Ril's leftovers, plus one less set of clothes because Lenthus) we buy a war pick for Kingsley (I'll share javelins for ranged), and then spend the final 8 copper on torches? Shores up the front line and gives some additional lighting options if we need it.

Then we can save the extra hand crossbow for later, or we can sell it for food (something like 36 rations and 14 waterskins) or other supplies. We only have to eat once every 3 days to survive with no penalties, but water is a much bigger deal.

And Ril can decide if he wants to sell his handcrossbow for a shortbow, and we can rearrange stuff to get some arrows. If he wants sneak attacks at ranged it makes a lot more sense to try and get him a shortbow.

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (Draconic) 3 - HP 23/23 - AC 15 - Perception 13 - SP 3/3

Sounds good to me. I approve.

Male Human | Wizard 3 | 2/4 1st lvl, 2/2 2nd lvl | Spell DC 13 | Arcane Ward 2/9 | HP 23/23 | AC 15 | Saves S, D, C, I, W, Ch | Pass Perc | Status: Normal | Insp: None

I agree, sounds sensible.

Human Barbarian 2 - HP 23/23 - AC 16 - Perception 13

Sounds good to me too!

Male Human | Wizard 3 | 2/4 1st lvl, 2/2 2nd lvl | Spell DC 13 | Arcane Ward 2/9 | HP 23/23 | AC 15 | Saves S, D, C, I, W, Ch | Pass Perc | Status: Normal | Insp: None

I forgot I had shoes.

Male Human | Wizard 3 | 2/4 1st lvl, 2/2 2nd lvl | Spell DC 13 | Arcane Ward 2/9 | HP 23/23 | AC 15 | Saves S, D, C, I, W, Ch | Pass Perc | Status: Normal | Insp: None

Oh...
Did anyone remember to buy clothes for the non-PCs? If not they could be mad. I guess we could always tell them we need all this stuff for the moment, and will buy them things as soon as we have money?
I'll let them use my soap, so we can get cleaned up. Maybe I should have gotten prestidigitation. We wouldn't need soap then.

Male Half-Elf Paladin 3; AC 14, HP 0/0*, perception 10, spells: 1st - 2/3

I'll leave the crossbow for food sale up to Vothe.

I'll leave the crossbow for a shortbow sale up to Ril.

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (Draconic) 3 - HP 23/23 - AC 15 - Perception 13 - SP 3/3

I was assuming they were just trading their own stuff honestly.

Male Half-Elf Paladin 3; AC 14, HP 0/0*, perception 10, spells: 1st - 2/3

I include clothes for the NPCs in what we have bought

Male Human Criminal Fighter AC15 HP12/[12] passive perception 13 passive insight 10 Saves: S+3 D+3 Cn+4 I+0 W+1 Ch+3 HD 1/[1] Init +3 Inspiration [y]

Sure I'm willing to sell the Crossbow for a shortbow and 20 arrows (40 would be better)

The problem is that a Hand crossbow is sold at 37.5gp... but the goods are twice as expensive to buy so the shortbow, normally sold for 35gp becomes out of range. The arrows go for 2gp per quiver of 20.

HP: 24 (24) | AC: 18 | Saves: Str: +0; Dex: +3; Con: +2; Int: +0; Wis: +2; Cha: +5 | Init: +2 | Spell Slots: 1 (2)

I can give up my other crossbow as well, plus bolts, if it means that we are better equipped.

Male Human | Wizard 3 | 2/4 1st lvl, 2/2 2nd lvl | Spell DC 13 | Arcane Ward 2/9 | HP 23/23 | AC 15 | Saves S, D, C, I, W, Ch | Pass Perc | Status: Normal | Insp: None

Don't forget for everyone to add a signal whistle to your gear. There is one each for the NPCs as well.

Male Human Criminal Fighter AC15 HP12/[12] passive perception 13 passive insight 10 Saves: S+3 D+3 Cn+4 I+0 W+1 Ch+3 HD 1/[1] Init +3 Inspiration [y]

Leave me with the hand crossbow for now... I don't think the Drow are gonna leave me short of ammo for it (have two cases of bolts) and I want to get a longbow for level 4 at any rate. I'll look to acquiring a new bow then.

Male Human | Wizard 3 | 2/4 1st lvl, 2/2 2nd lvl | Spell DC 13 | Arcane Ward 2/9 | HP 23/23 | AC 15 | Saves S, D, C, I, W, Ch | Pass Perc | Status: Normal | Insp: None

Don't forget that the drow are probably still tracking us, so we don't want to build too many boats.

Male Human | Wizard 3 | 2/4 1st lvl, 2/2 2nd lvl | Spell DC 13 | Arcane Ward 2/9 | HP 23/23 | AC 15 | Saves S, D, C, I, W, Ch | Pass Perc | Status: Normal | Insp: None

I'm not sure we can beat these guys. If they have no elites with them, I think we could manage it, but I'd say otherwise at least one of us could die in this fight.
If all else fails, maybe someone can grab onto a fleeing boat and get dragged along in the water, but I see that is aboleth or underground piranha bait.

HP: 24 (24) | AC: 18 | Saves: Str: +0; Dex: +3; Con: +2; Int: +0; Wis: +2; Cha: +5 | Init: +2 | Spell Slots: 1 (2)

We should probably send the npcs off on the boat and make our way by land.

There is no by land. There is by boat or by swim.

I sea

Male Half-Elf Paladin 3; AC 14, HP 0/0*, perception 10, spells: 1st - 2/3

So are the NPCs on the first boat and we are all gathering on the second?

Male Human | Wizard 3 | 2/4 1st lvl, 2/2 2nd lvl | Spell DC 13 | Arcane Ward 2/9 | HP 23/23 | AC 15 | Saves S, D, C, I, W, Ch | Pass Perc | Status: Normal | Insp: None

That is what I thought.

Lantern Lodge

Sure, unless you want to mix it up a little bit.

Male Half-Elf Paladin 3; AC 14, HP 0/0*, perception 10, spells: 1st - 2/3

No, I want them getting a head start... both to avoid the trouble behind us and be canaries for danger ahead.

Male Human | Wizard 3 | 2/4 1st lvl, 2/2 2nd lvl | Spell DC 13 | Arcane Ward 2/9 | HP 23/23 | AC 15 | Saves S, D, C, I, W, Ch | Pass Perc | Status: Normal | Insp: None

How long will it take to get to Sloopbludoop?

Male Human | Wizard 3 | 2/4 1st lvl, 2/2 2nd lvl | Spell DC 13 | Arcane Ward 2/9 | HP 23/23 | AC 15 | Saves S, D, C, I, W, Ch | Pass Perc | Status: Normal | Insp: None

That was an interesting set of rolls. Exhaustion for me!

Male Half-Elf Paladin 3; AC 14, HP 0/0*, perception 10, spells: 1st - 2/3

I think you need a CON save for exhaustion

Male Human | Wizard 3 | 2/4 1st lvl, 2/2 2nd lvl | Spell DC 13 | Arcane Ward 2/9 | HP 23/23 | AC 15 | Saves S, D, C, I, W, Ch | Pass Perc | Status: Normal | Insp: None

Ah good. No exhaustion.

Male Half-Elf Paladin 3; AC 14, HP 0/0*, perception 10, spells: 1st - 2/3

Really? Absolute minimum damage?

Male Human | Wizard 3 | 2/4 1st lvl, 2/2 2nd lvl | Spell DC 13 | Arcane Ward 2/9 | HP 23/23 | AC 15 | Saves S, D, C, I, W, Ch | Pass Perc | Status: Normal | Insp: None

Hopefully this won't hit you guys. Sorry if it does, I'll try to keep as far from you as possible.

Male Human | Wizard 3 | 2/4 1st lvl, 2/2 2nd lvl | Spell DC 13 | Arcane Ward 2/9 | HP 23/23 | AC 15 | Saves S, D, C, I, W, Ch | Pass Perc | Status: Normal | Insp: None

Now three people have to be saved.

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer (Draconic) 3 - HP 23/23 - AC 15 - Perception 13 - SP 3/3

It's thanksgiving weekend in Canada, so I may not be posting again until Monday evening or Tuesday morning.

Male Human | Wizard 3 | 2/4 1st lvl, 2/2 2nd lvl | Spell DC 13 | Arcane Ward 2/9 | HP 23/23 | AC 15 | Saves S, D, C, I, W, Ch | Pass Perc | Status: Normal | Insp: None

Oh yes, thanksgiving. I'll probably be able to post sometime in the next little while, but family and friends over, so not much time.

The lake is definitely the scariest monster in the whole of Faerun.

I agree. Not the optimal place to spend your summer.
Does anyone think the Ixitxachitl will be intelligent? I can speak abyssal, which seems likely they would speak, and I could try to use command on them.

I have been sent a request by a player in another game of mine asking to join. My question is would you like another and is there a class/role that you think we are lacking?

Neat! Not sure what role. From what I feel, a support would be useful. Maybe wizard or druid. So far it seems our main roles are:

Bryn: Tank and healing.
Kingsley: Tank and damage dealer.
Aten: Damage and control.
Vothe: Control and healing.
Lenthus: Damage and control.
Ril: Damage.
So if we're doing points, (two per player,) we have:
Tank: 2 points.
Healing: 2 points.
Damage: 5 points (counting Ril as 2).
Control: 2 points.
So not a heavy damage dealer, and Kingsley and Bryn seem to be covering our tanking fine, so I would say control or healing.

A rather astute assessment, and I would be fine with another player.

Male Half-Elf Paladin 3; AC 14, HP 0/0*, perception 10, spells: 1st - 2/3

We could use a ranger, Druid, or cleric. Paladins are damage and support more than anything in 5e (soon my CHA will be added to saves, and I'll be adding CHA to attacks and my smites deal better damage than most spells).

Someone else feeding the crew and helping navigation, or that has access to restorative magic, would be amazing.

Male Human | Wizard 3 | 2/4 1st lvl, 2/2 2nd lvl | Spell DC 13 | Arcane Ward 2/9 | HP 23/23 | AC 15 | Saves S, D, C, I, W, Ch | Pass Perc | Status: Normal | Insp: None

Oh, advise them to take mending if their a high elf or spellcaster. Or take the magic initiate feat.

Hey guys!

I'm the player that asked to join. I love the 5E ruleset and Daway is a very consistent and awesome GM.

I've made a Deep Gnome druid with ties to the Underdark, He's been a loner and a wandering hermit for a while and my thought is that he will find you guys at some point in his wanderings. Please take a look and let me know what you think.

I have his bond be that he was once rescued by some Kua-Toa so he's friendly with them. I also took the alternate feature that allows him to feed people in the underdark (makes sense with him being a druid and a hermit)

I haven't done much background but I'm figuring he would be from Blindingstone but not really attached too closely since he wanders around.

Male Half-Elf Paladin 3; AC 14, HP 0/0*, perception 10, spells: 1st - 2/3

Nice! We could use your help!

You could come in from the ceiling.

Climbing cave rat? Spider? Badger digging too deep?
Now I have the image in my head of a very surprised badger falling through the roof, landing on a raft, and turning into an irritable gnome.

Is it just me, or does anyone else want to just murder the rest of the npcs in our group before they can sacrifice us to their gods?
