The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass leaving memories that become legend, then fade to myth, and are long forgot when that Age comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose across the Aryth Ocean. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.

The wind gusted across storm tossed whitecaps, driving forward past schools of fish. On it blew, eventually making landfall amidst an armada of strange ships nestled in the harbors of Falme. It flowed through the streets, past strangely dressed people and even stranger creatures, blowing out banners and flags of a conquering army.

Further south and east it blew, stirring smoke and fires in the hotly contested fields of the Almoth Plain. Men and beasts huddled closer against the chill the wind carried, many hardly hiding their concerns about the unnatural weather that has gripped the land for so long.

The wind swirled down the small road, scattering leaves and some small snowflakes across the path of an eclectic group of travelers. Clutching cloaks tightly around themselves, they plod on, looking forward to arriving in the next town and putting themselves in front of a warm fire.

"Water. From. The. Sky!" Sighing softly, the tall Aiel man scrubbed a hand across his face. "As if that isn't bad enough, it can flaming freeze too, so it isn't just water, it is cold water. What did you call it? Snew? Show? Snow!" Nodding softly he scanned the faces of his companions, before continuing on. "That was it. Snow. Light I miss the Threefold Land!" He walked on in silence for a couple of minutes, scanning left and right, his sharp eyes roaming the surrounding area.

"I've heard that it gets so hot in the waste that you can cook without fire on the rocks. It seemed far fetched to me but then again, my mother used to scare me with stories of the "Black-eyed Aiel" but you seem nice enough. Jasmine is very much Domani. She is wearing a dress with divided skirts for riding in the Domani fashion, all sheer silk that hints everything but reveals nothing. She has a fine heavy wool cloak that she keeps buttoned up tightly to try and repel the cold. A somewhat shy girl of sixteen, once she opens up she is very knowledgeable about many topics and quite a good conversationalist. She has been flirting with all of the men in the group, almost always unconsciously as if it is out of habit more than anything else.

Easop walks steadily, his long legs easily keeping pace with the tall Aiel. Occasionally twitching his ears to rid them of accumulation moisture, and subconsciously squeegeeing the moisture from his mustache he seem deep in thought as he plods along.

Who ever would imagine a year ago that he would be here. He had never even seen a human until a little over a year ago, yet here he was travelling with them as though it was perfectly normal. There had to be a story here...he was confident he was on the right path...he had to be.

He laughed softly, before turning to look at the woman. "Indeed Jasmine Raleen, it does get that hot in the Threefold Land. It is glorious. The Wetlands are so... Wet!" He frowned, a little puzzled, before shaking his head.

"Treebrother, you seem distracted. What is the problem?" He smiled at the tall Ogier man beside him.

"Oh no friends". "In fact my life is most satisfactory at the moment". "I guess I was just daydreaming...I seem to be prone to that". "I was comparing where I was only months ago, to what my life is like now". "I am grateful for your companionship". Even this dreary weather fails to dampen my spirits.

Jasmine lets out a twinkling laugh and replies Ah yes. Now that I can understand. I myself was just the youngest daughter of a merchant house in Bandar Eban. My highest aspirations were to marry a rich man and perhaps raise the standing of my house in that regard but apparently the creator saw fit to give me a different path. She looks sad for a moment and wind whips her cloak around for a moment. She gets startled and it immediately stops. Biasha Sedai always told me my problem was I think too much. I need to feel she says. I think that may be part of my problem. I feel too much. She sighs heavily and gathers her cloak around her again.

Male Human (Aiel) Algai'd'siswai 1

He nodded softly, turning to the Ogier and grinning. "I can relate to that Treebrother. A couple of months ago I was blissfully enjoying myself, running with my brothers in the Shae'en M'taal or rather avoiding running with them!" He frowned thoughtfully. "Then along comes this Light bla... I mean... Light blessed, Wise One, and she hurries me the whole breath of the Threefold Land. Casts me out on my ass with a group of blo... blessed... Far Dareis Mai and here I am. I am a long way from home. Too long in fact!"

He looked down, scanning the ground ahead of him, before looking up again. "Still... The company is good at least. And I have seen many new things. I thought the Wetlands would be more like the Blight but they are not, not in the slightest!"

He turned to look at the woman and smiled. "Jasmine Raleen, you speak of marriage, have you lain a wreath at this wealthy mans feet? Did he pick it up? If not you should have gotten your First Sister to drag him to you, so that he may beg for your forgiveness. Or beaten him with a club!" He burst in to laughter, holding his side, his eyes screwed shut.

Male Ogier Wanderer 2

At hearing the laughter of the Wastelander, the Ogier breaks into a deep rumbling laugh that seems to shake the very land they tread. "Oh of all the strange and miraculous things I have experienced since leaving the steading, the sound of laughter has to be the most rewarding and fascinating". "I loved my grandfather...i mean Attal..., but he was a very taciturn, and thinking back I can't ever remember hearing him laugh". "In fact just now may have been the first time I have ever laughed". "Is it not a cleansing experience"?

Male Human (Aiel) Algai'd'siswai 1

Lain grinned and reached up, patting the Ogier on the back. "That it is Treebrother. That it is. So tell me... What is it brought you out of the Stedding? Having traveled with you for awhile, I feel it is high time I asked!"

Male Human (Aiel) Algai'd'siswai 2

Pandin comes running in a little later than the rest."Appears this blasted cold sky water has slowed me down perhaps more than I thought." Looking over at Lain, "I recognize that Candin'sor you are a fellow Stone Dog, albeit from a different Sept. Seems fate has brought our shade together perhaps you can rest in my shade in peace."
Pandin takes up his customary spot on watch to the left of the camp. Scanning the horizon he looks for anything out of the ordinary.

"Seems we all did not anticipate what the Light would do to us in this last year, but 'tis good to be amongst like minded individuals."
Turning to the Ogier, "Yes, I would love to hear that story as well, and perhaps I shall share a story of my own."

Male Human (Aiel) Algai'd'siswai 1

Lain frowns softly, staring at the Goshien Stone Dog as he makes his way in to their company. 'So this is the dark haired Stone Dog of the Stones River. Interesting. New to the Society but I hear he has some skill. Good to have another Aiel around!'

Flashing some handtalk at the man, Lain nods softly. 'Greetings Young Brother. May you find shade and water!' He smiled, to show he meant no harm by the use of the word young. 'Be welcome!'

I don't know how the other Aiel plan on doing the Handtalk but I used Bold Italics, just for the moment. :)

There’s a strange atmosphere to the towns and villages of the Almoth Plain. People are worried, tense, and suspicious of strangers. Many settlements are quiet, their streets empty as locals keep to their homes and out of sight. And then there’s the weather – bitterly cold, especially for so early in the autumn. It has snowed twice in the last two weeks.

Weary from another day’s travels, you all approach one such village late in the day. There are few people in the streets, and those that are are hurrying to finish their work so as to get inside. Tonight feels like it could be another cold evening. As the group makes its way to try to find what passes for an inn in this village, you all notice a young woman, not more than 13 who seems to be watching you from the door of a hooper’s shop. Blonde hair tied into a simple braid, she wears the common clothes of the area and seems to be an average youth, not out of place in any number of villages you have passed through already.

Her eyes grow fearful as she sees the three Aiel striding into the village. It’s easy to see the thoughts of Black-Veiled Aiel! run through her mind. Yet this is quickly lost as her eyes go even wider, with wonder, at the sight of an honest to goodness Ogier. Clearly unused to such sights, it takes her a moment to compose herself but she then approaches the group of you.

My apologies for interrupting your business, strangers. But I have a message, and I’m bidden to give it to such as yourselves. After getting what felt like a well rehearsed speech out, the young woman curtsies, presents a pouch and what looks like a folded letter, and then scurries back to her doorway as soon as any of you take it.

The Letter:

Worthy Friends –
I thank you for having accepted this commission. These are difficult times, and I regret the necessity to divert you from business of your own. Trust that my need is great, and that I offer recompense in keeping with your great worth.

I have reserved rooms at the Three Crowns Inn in Aturo’s Orchard, which I hold for you now. Please come and visit as my guests, so that we may discuss this matter in more detail.

I’m sure I don’t have to remind judicious persons such as yourselves that my business is of some confidence. In these times especially, dangers await the indiscreet, and there are those who would attempt to interfere with my mission should they learn of it.

I look forward to our meeting,
Nadira Sedai

Male Andoran Armsman 6

Jed has been quiet for much of the travel, lost in his own thoughts. It isn't until they reach the small village and a woman comes forward to hand the group a pouch and a letter. Jed, who compared to most of the group appears rather normal, steps forward and take the items, thanking the lady.

He hands the pouch to one of the other group members as he opens the letter and reads it quickly.

Looks like we are to meet our contact at the Three Crowns Inn in Aturo's Orchard. He'll then hand the letter to anyone else who wishes to read it closely. "She wants us to be discreet of course."

Jed shudders at the thought of dealing with an Aes Sedai. He met a few while working in the Queen's Guard in Caemlyn, but none of them ever really noticed him. That was fine with Jed, of course. It never pays to be noticed by Aes Sedai.

Jed looks over to Jasmine, who he has come to know fairly well in their travels. Despite her intention of being an Aes Sedai, Jed isn't quite as weary of her. Maybe it's because he knows her so well now, or maybe it's because she doesn't quite have a shawl. He's not sure.

He's also used to the Aiel and the Ogier as well, now. He was quite shocked upon first meeting them. But despite their cultural differences, they all still have a lot in common.

Male Human (Aiel) Algai'd'siswai 1

Lain smiles at the young girl and passes her two silver marks, before she leaves. Turning to look at the other Aiel, he flicks his hand in a simple gesture, his eyes looking sideways at the young woman, as she scurries away. 'Fear.' He nods softly, before making another sign. 'Caution!'

"Jed al'Raes, what do you think the Woman has planned for us?" He asked, looking to the man who had read the letter.

Male Human (Aiel) Algai'd'siswai 2

'I never understood the difference between their Aes Sedai and our Wise Ones' Pandin quickly signs to Lain. 'Seems many despise or are at least weary of Aes Sedai.'
"Don't know, but from my experience when a woman asks you to meet her and be descrete it only means one thing." Pandin says with a quick smile.

Male Andoran Armsman 6

Jed laughs at Pandin's comment, but then cuts himself short when he realizes there is a lady nearby. "Well, Aes Sedai cannot lie right? It sounds as if she has some very important mission for us. Probably a dangerous one, by the tone of the letter. As to what that mission is, I have no earthly idea.

'Perhaps we should remain unseen while we travel and meet this Woman" Pandin quickly signs.

Why is it always dinner that gets interupted?

Perhaps this Aes Sedai will have some of the answers I seek Pandin's face contorts as he thinks of trusting a Wetlander he has yet to meet.

Forgive me Pandin, but it is not proper to jest about Aes Sedai so. I am sure whatever Nadira Sedai has to say to us will be most important. I do hope she does not plan on separating me from you to go to the Tower now though. I have learned much in these past days traveling. As they walk she reads the letter over and over trying to get some meaning from what Nadira Aes Sedai said or didn't say from the letter. Finally giving up she sighs again and gets a bit withdrawn feeling almost as if she had failed some test.

'Calm yourself Young Brother. Seek the wisdom in silence for just a moment.' Lain frowned softly and signed to the Aiel man, before speaking. "We are to be discreet yes? May I suggest then that we do not stand here, in the street, saying the A word loud enough to be overheard?" He smiled softly, to take the sting from his words.

"With three Aiel and a Treebrother, we can not hope to go unnoticed in these lands. So lets not even try. We stay here for the night. We take rooms at the Inn and continue on tomorrow. We are just normal travelers on the road, looking for water and shade!" He smiled and nodded softly.

'Do not be surprised if the Wetlanders stare. They are still not used to us!' He signed slowly, looking around.

"Let us get to the Inn then. I feel like trying some more Wetlander food tonight!"

"My steading was unique, in that my gr...I mean my master and I were the only inhabitants". You notice that as Easop speaks of his master his hand unconsciously drops to the pouch at his waist, to reassure himself that something is still there. You would assume it is the leather bound journal, which he constantly reads, but never seems to write in. He uses another for that.

Just FYI...through experience Easop has learned that people tend to fear he is some darkspawn or are just frightened of his appearance, so any time they enter a new village, or manor, he will wait on the outskirts until his presence can be explained. As this situation he is obviously expected he will forgo this usual pattern.

After taking the time to read the missive, his large hands making the letter seem like nothing more than a leaf, his ears begin to twitch with excitement. Then starting loudly, and lowering his voice when his wise companion speaks. "We're really going to meet an Aes Sedai". "Not to minimize your power Jasmine, but we are really going to meet one who bears the ring and shawl". "Will the wonders of my new life never cease".

Then look at the others, "What is the name of this village we are approaching now". "Does anyone know"? "I wonder if we could be so fortunate that this is Aturo's Orchard"?

Ahead of you there appears to be a warm and inviting looking inn. A sign swings in the cold breeze, a man leaning precariously at an angle proclaiming it the Tipsy Traveler. Light spills from the windows and when the door opens, it's easy to hear the sounds of drinking and general revelry, the sounds of a finished day of good, honest work.

Seeing the group of you enter, Easop lowering his head to fit through the door frame, many of the patrons quiet down. The innkeeper, a fat man with numerous chins to his face, puts down the mug he was polishing. He eyes you all for a moment and then, the sound of coins ringing in his head, heads over to greet you. Seeing this, the general tension seems to pop and people go back to their drinks, although some of the drunker ones can't help but stare at the strangeness of the group that just walked in.

Name's Telvin Geloss and I'm the owner and proprietor of this hear establishment. He seems to rest his eyes on the Aiel briefly before continuing on. A lot of strangers passin' through of late. But coin is coin and appreciate the need of any wary travelers. Just so's long as there's no ruckus. Now how can I help you folks? Ale? Room for the night?

In my excitement writing the letter stuff I forgot to mention, the pouch you received with the letter contains 10gm in it. Oops. :-)

Oops. :-)

"Good day sir, as for your questions I think we will take rooms for the night, but first some ale and food for me, and I do venture to guess for my companions as well. Now as for your worries, we seek no trouble." Pandin says trying to put his best and most polite face forward, hoping to get an extra portion of food.

"I've never heard of Aturo's Orchard. If we aren't in Aturo's Orchard, maybe someone here will be able to point us in the right direction?" Jed is tired from a long day's walk and is ready to sit and rest over a hot meal. Before they enter the tavern, Jed speaks with Jasmine. I, uh... I want to apologize. For all the times I've said something... rude or inconsiderate about Aes Sedai. I've been wrong about it all along. Aes Sedai are people just like everyone else. You're proof of that. I hope you can forgive me."

Jed, having apologize for perhaps the first time ever (Midlanders can be a bit bullheaded), looks at Jasmine uncomfortably, hoping his statement makes her feel better.

Jasmine smiles at Jed's apology to show him no offense was taken. Thank you Jed. I know that most of what people say about Aes Sedai is mostly due to their own...reluctance to give straight answers. As my father always said an Aes Sedai never lies but she can stand truth on its head and make it sing a merry tune. She finishes in a whisper as if an Aes Sedai would hear her say that now then laughs heartily at the thought of her father.

Once they enter the inn, Jasmine will immediately head to the innkeeper and attempt to salvage the Aiel's ham handed approach. With a touch and a laugh she attempts to allay his fears about having such a diverse group in his inn. Master Geloss thank you for your welcome. You have an especially fine establishment. If I may please offer ale to the hall until this runs out. Also rooms and most especially a bath would be greatly appreciated. As you can see we have ridden for a while and are chilled to the bone.

Graul enters behind the rest of the group in his customary rear guard position and takes up a position near the door.
He has not uttered a single word since the mention of the Aes Sedai. He stands with his hand clasped infront of him breathing deeply as the Far Aldazar Din taught him before taking a long shot with his bow.
Does she know? Is this a trap for me? I hear Aes Sedai hunt men that can channel. I can not be taken. I have not found the dragon yet.

He swiftly scans over the patrons looking for any threat.

'This food and ale isn't half bad, but I do hope we can fill our waterskins and find a decent crate to sleep upon.' Pandin signs to the other Aiel. "Do be beggin your pardon," Pandin says to Jasmine,"but I don't mean to be a blumberin fool, but seems I don't have much of a way with people." Pandin says with a smirk.
"Might I ask you what the difference is between your Wetlander Aes Sedai and our Wise Ones? Seems to me that the only difference is an Aes Sedai will talk your head in a circle and a Wise One will just as assume smack you upside the head as talk you in a circle."

I must confess Pandin. I do not know anything about your wise ones. They sound very different though in terms of approach to diplomacy though. She says this last with another laugh to show she means no offense. Of the Aes Sedai I can tell you some but I am by no means an expert. I don't believe anyone but one of their order is an expert on them and them not much more.

Graul gives Pandin a halfhearted grin. "Aes Sedai or Wise one, you still walk in the circle."
