Qalendar |

Round 1
Qalendar steps closer to Kayla, touching her shoulder, and then points to the longbow armed skeleton.
Using Diviner's Fortune on Kayla. Assuming she has her sling out. If not, then I may have to alter my action.

DM Morvius |

I'm going to get moving in the interest of not having combat take too long. Nora, pick up in whatever round you happen to post in.
Katrin, you get your readied attack and an AoO either against the same skeleton (if the push misses) or the second one.
Both sword-wielding skeletons move forward to engage the fighter, trundling mindlessly into the readied hammer.
I'll resolve attacks for them once Katrin has posted hers. Other people can assume that the skeletons are either 5 ft away from or adjacent to Katrin.
The skeleton with the longbow sees Qalendar using magic and decides to fire a shot in his direction after trundling forward 10 feet down the stairs.
Longbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

![]() |

Actually I have combat reflexes, hence I get 4 attacks of opportunity a round so I can attack of opportunity both skeletons as they come in
Katrin swings her readied hammer attack.
Lucerne Hammer Attack (main) 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
The first attack nearly hits but the skeleton is more agile than she expected him to be. Nonetheless she is undaunted as she does a backswing at the beast as a counter-move as it tries to close into melee range.
AOO 1 on skeleton with Lucerne Hammer: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Confirm Critical: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
12 bludgeoning damage and the skeleton is pushed back 5 feet, interrupting its movement. If it tries to move at me again I can AOO it again as I knocked it out of my threat zone. That is if the blow did not destroy it. Am I free to AOO the other skeleton as well due to my combat reflexes?

![]() |

Katrin takes a swing with her Lucrene hammer at the other skeleton as it closes into the battle.
Lucrene Hammer Attack!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
And gives it a resounding blow shattering it into a pile of bones and making it sail backward.

Qalendar |

Round 2: Initiative: 27
Qalendar stumbles from the arrow in his leg. His eyes narrow and he stretches out a hand towards the Skeleton, and exclaims,
!تېزاب
Acid Splash (touch): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 This is a 14 if casting into melee.
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2

Nora Brim |

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Nora looks around, the quick pace at the start of the fight leaving her breathless as she tries to catch up. Qalendar stumbling beside her finally breaks her out of her confusion. Alright deal with the archer.
Watching how swiftly Katrin dealt with the first two skeletons, Nora draws her bow, letting out a shot at the skeleton for distraction more then anything.
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Fingernipper |

Round 1:
Hp 10/10; AC 19/16T/14FF; CMD 14
+2F/+7R/+0W
Buffs:n/a
Nipper moves up next to Katrin and takes a defensive stance (total defense AC23)

DM Morvius |

Only the quick spell from Qalendar seems to hit its mark. The skeleton readies another arrow and takes a shot at Katrin.
Katrin, you are acting just before the skeleton, so if you kill it, ignore the attack roll. Otherwise it takes a 5 ft step away from your threat zone and shoot.
Longbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

![]() |

Katrin seeing the Skeleton ready to take a shot so she rushes forward with her hammer and takes a swing once she is within reach. She does not power attack.
Hammer Blow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
The skeleton nimbly avoids the blow and steps back and takes a shot. The shot hits her breastplate and deflects off (AC 19 with her armor).

Fingernipper |

Round 2:
Hp 10/10; AC 19/16T/14FF; CMD 14
+2F/+7R/+0W
Buffs:n/a
Nipper swings around the archer to set up a flank and attacks:
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 2 = 27
Confirm?: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 2 = 11
Damage: 1d3 + 2 + 1d8 ⇒ (3) + 2 + (6) = 11

DM Morvius |

Fingernipper, you can't actually get into a flanking position here. The skeleton backed out of the threat area of Katrin at the very least. As a result, since you likely know you can't really hurt it without sneak attack I'll say you just kept out of melee so that the ranged people could shoot it. That means Kayla hits it with her sling.
The sling bullet strike the skeleton in the spine and crumbles the remaining creature.
You all get 100 XP for the combat. The skeletons have three sets of broken chain shirts, two broken longswords, and a medium sized longbow.

Qalendar |

Qalendar winces as he limps over to a wall and leans on it. He looks down at the arrow with a frown. The young man takes a deep breath and breaks the arrow near the fletching, then pushes the shaft through.
Speaking softly, he says, Well, it doesn't tickle, but I don't think it'll slow me down once I get the bleeding stopped. He nose scrunches up and he wraps a cloth around it. And there doesn't seem to be all that much of it anyway. Lucky me.
There are probably more out there. Let's try leading them into us instead of the other way around. I expect the noise may have caught the attention of at least a few. We should find a spot to meet them... or hide if there are too many.
He looks around for just such a spot. A place to watch...and wait.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Looking for an obviously defensible place to wait and see if more are coming.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Finding a spot to hide while waiting.

![]() |

Katrin seeing the foe finished looks back to the others, "Skeletons are such predictable creatures. Make a bit of noise and they'll come running at you without considering the consequences of having a Lucrene Hammer shattering their skull. Hardly a challenge for a warrior such as myself. If more skeletons come this way just stay behind me and I can kite any charging skeletons with my hammer before they reach the party. Let us continue on the way."

DM Morvius |

Qalendar, as you search the area you find a ring worth 50 gp and a scroll. You also realize that the front doorway is the only real means of ingress to the building and that while there are holes in the walls that someone accurate could shoot through, the first floor is likely the most defensible area. Ranged characters can stand on the stairs if desired for slightly improved line of sight.
If anyone uses Read Magic or passes a DC 21 Spellcraft check they can identify the scroll as Magic Missile at CL1.
After a few moments you do all hear shuffling from further into the ruins.

Qalendar |

As Qalendar moves aside some old furniture to form a better barricade for whatever is coming, he hears the clink of metal. Bending down he comes up with a ring and a curled up piece of paper, surprisingly well preserved for a place like this. Interesting. Using Detect Magic briefly, but not spending time to actually look at what the scroll actually is just yet.
Is Katrin actually leaving the room? I assume so by the "proceeds with caution", but I just wanted to make sure.
Qalendar's gaze comes back from whatever far off place in his mind it usually is and, he looks puzzled as Katrin speaks and starts to leave. Why? Why not just wait for them? He shakes his head.

Kayla Adrianas |

"Hold up a moment Qalendar, let me see where the arrow hit you."
Kayla looks over his wound and decides to cast a cure spell upon him.
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
"There, that looks better. Don't want anyone injured if we are about to fight more of those things."
As the others speak of leaving or staying: "I can't tell if the sound are coming this way or not, but it could be something drawn by the sounds of our battle. Perhaps either more skeletons or some kind of overseer if they have one. Either way, it couldn't hurt to wait her for a few moments until we can tell if they are getting closer or not. If they are, we can wait here and ambush whatever it is. If not, then we can go and follow the sounds."

Qalendar |

Qalendar nods his head and smiles, Thank you, that's much better. His head nods again towards the stairs, If you want a better shot at the door, I'd suggest getting up on the stairs where that other skeleton was.

DM Morvius |

You all have six rounds after hearing the sounds to make preparations if you choose to. As the rounds pass it becomes clear that the sounds are moving toward you.
Through the cracks in the walls you see a pair of zombies and a skeleton wielding a longbow moving around to the entrance.
You can take actions through the cracks if desired on round 6. Otherwise combat begins as they move into view on round 7.
Skeleton Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Zombie Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13

Nora Brim |

Yay more undead.
Initative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
"Alright let do this." Nora chuckles, warming up her vocal cords.
Going to start Baric Performance. Inspire Courage on Round 6. Everyone get +1 to attack and +1 to dmg.
Round 7
Nora continues her song, and moves to lash out with her whip at the skeleton's feet, trying to uproot it .
CM(Trip): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
6/8 rounds remaining on bardic performance

Qalendar |

Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Round 6: Initiative 22 [Delayed to 19, when Nora starts performing.]
Qalendar leans down to look out one of the holes, when Nora begins singing he waves his hand,
!تېزاب
Targeting the skeleton.
Acid Splash (touch):: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage:: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Katrin stands at the ready positioning herself in front of the party in line where the zombies would normally be travelling. She gets ready attack any Zombies that might close into reach of her weapon. If any zombies close in she attempts to crack their skulls with her hammer, using her pushing assault if and when she hits them.

DM Morvius |

Nora, the skeleton stops outside of whip range to shoot but it does so before your initiative, so you can change your action if you would like to. That is assuming you don't want to move past the two zombies to attempt to hit the skeleton.
The skeleton appears wounded by the acid, though the group trundles inexorably forward. The skeleton fires an arrow at Katrin as the zombies attempt to move forward.
Skeleton Longbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Longbow Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Staggered, the zombies end up just inside your threat range Katrin. So you can attack, but they aren't provoking AoOs just yet.

![]() |

Katrin grimaces from the arrow piercing into her chest in a leather part of her breastplate armor and drawing blood but she is still on her feet. She takes a wack at one of the zombies, wacking it with a power attack and a pushing assault to knock it back 5 feet
Hammer Blow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage (counting DR): 1d12 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (9) + 6 - 5 = 10
She smashes the zombie on the head cracking open its skull like a mellon and knocking it backward. She then takes a 5 foot step backward putting one zombie at 15 feet and one at 20 feet.

Kayla Adrianas |

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Planning to sling her stones again, Kayla takes up a position on the stairs and delays until she can see something to attack.
Round 7 attack
Kayla takes aim at a skeleton.
attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 3 + 1 = 18
damage: 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4

Qalendar |

Round 7: Initiative 19
Qalendar waves his hand once again, pointing at the undead and exclaiming,
!تېزاب
Targeting the skeleton if it's still up, after that attacking the wounded zombie, then the unwounded zombie.
Acid Splash (touch): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Fingernipper |

Fingernipper, you can't actually get into a flanking position here. The skeleton backed out of the threat area of Katrin at the very least. As a result, since you likely know you can't really hurt it without sneak attack I'll say you just kept out of melee so that the ranged people could shoot it. That means Kayla hits it with her sling.
Fair enough. Without maps, I'll just be playing it by ear.
When the monsters get into range, Nipper bursts out of cover and attacks one of the zombies/
Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Damage vs Zombie: 1d3 + 2 + 1d8 ⇒ (1) + 2 + (4) = 7
If I can reach them, if not I'll just pass. Should be flatfooted, since I beat their initiative.

DM Morvius |

I'll give you the option here - Katrin's Initiative is after the zombies. So she can't cover you if you want to act first. You can either go first and jump out while they are flat footed and take the slams from the zombies or wait until Katrin goes to attack them from the front (or try to Acrobatics through their threat area for a flank.

DM Morvius |

Katrin strikes one of the zombie with a solid blow which Qalendar finishes off with a small burst of acid. At the same time Kayla is able to destroy the archer and the final zombie is tripped by a quick lash of the whip from Nora.
Round 8
The zombie groans, struggling to climb to its feet.
That is all it can do on its turn, so everyone is free to attack and, if you are acting before it, get in range to take an AoO as it stands up.

![]() |

Katrin closes in and attempts to pummel the skull of the zombie by smashing down on its head with a mighty blow from the hammer-end of her polearm. She Power Attacks to increase the damage inflicted. (including the -5 for Damage Reduction to the damage)
Hammer Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage: 1d12 + 9 - 5 ⇒ (8) + 9 - 5 = 12
Katrin pulps the skull of the zombie, sending its brains dribbling out its mouth as the force of the blow sends the zombie to the floor.

Kayla Adrianas |

round 8
Kayla delays her action until everyone else has gone or the zombie is dead since she doesn't think she could do much damage to it.
Assuming that Katrin is successful in killing it, Kayla will move up to her and cast a healing spell upon her.
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

DM Morvius |

I'll save time and rolls to say that one way or another, the zombie is destroyed before it can act again. Feel free to roll if someone wants to claim the destruction before Katrin.
With the undead destroyed, the sounds fade and return to normal. The almost eerie silence of a destroyed city returns to the area.
You each receive another 100XP and find another longbow and a broken chain shirt amongst the bodies. Assuming you aren't pressing forward, you won't need to make Perception checks at this time. But should you decide to move deeper into the ruins, please give me Perception checks as you go.

Qalendar |

That went well. I don't hear anything else coming, do you? He looks around the group.
How are you feeling Katrin? Shall we continue, or do you require rest?
He holds up the scroll and ring, It does appear that this place holds more secrets. But it also appears to be going nowhere anytime soon.

Nora Brim |

"True it's not going anywhere, but undead? Not something that just naturally happens. And if this is going to be our home away from home for the near future I would prefer that we not leave a threat hanging out with us." Nora contemplates.
Nothing like coming back from the villages to find out we failed and all of our mages have been slaughtered when the undead decide to raid their camp.

![]() |

Katrin checks her wounds after being healed. While not fully recovered she did not want to show weakness by asking for recovery time. She says, "Let us continue further into this ruin. We have not used many of our resources and so far the threats we have faced were easy to deal with. Now is not the time for rest but a time for action."

Qalendar |

The young man nods and waves his hand, نانی جادو The dust clears from his pants as he straightens up.
Very well, everyone ready to move on?
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Qalendar quietly follows the others as they move out to another building.

Fingernipper |

Stealth: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18
Perc: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
I would imagine that we would be looking for anything official looking, or out of the ordinary. Though since we wouldn't want to leave undead behind us, we would probably check every building we passed by.
