Turning to the assembled townsfolk, the mayor asks "Do any of you have things you might loan to this group?"
Yarla steps forward with a smile. "I just so happen to have a crate of items in my inventory right now, bound for a bodyguard firm in Port Ice. I'm sure they wouldn't mind a little quality control testing on one or two."
Looking at you, she adds "I might even have some blunt arrows, too."
She will loan anyone that wants one a sap, and will give Brialla 10 blunt arrows.

One of the kids in the crowd is a little shy when he sees your impressive forms but he takes out a piece of paper from his pocket and hands it over to you.
"Look here! It is really sad."
See handouts.

Upon picking the leaflet you see that it bears sketches of a scowling human boy and girl, each about 17, along with the following message.
“Be advised: Richelle and Tolwin, apprentices to Carth Garenth and Yarla Bowhammer, are not permitted at the jubilee. If seen, please turn them away from your events.”

Meraina's eyes rise at the leaflet. "Sounds harsh, to deny them revelry. Doesn't even offer an explanation of what they've done."

GM Nowruz |

Kara and Kameer are very relieved and also the town is again impressed by your courage. .
"Oh thank you! I have to admit that everything was over so fast! They attacked us with longswords and I also saw them carrying a bow." Kara says and the wounds they have matches that description although you can see that at least some hits were definitely with the flat side of the sword if it was really longswords that hit them.

Meraina glances at the dwarf, and nods. "Yes, but we have to pass right by the campsite, so perhaps we should check it out first."
My icon is placed on the map.

GM Nowruz |

As you approach the field, you begin to get your bearings.
You quickly scan the surroundings for potential threats or things that seem out of place.
As you move up between the campsite and the cabin, you crouch low to the ground- looking for tracks or other signs about what occurred here earlier.
Please make Survival checks.

GM Nowruz |

When you get out to examine the campsite:
A rusty metal pot sits over an extinguished campfire in this hastily prepared resting stop, which seems to have been used in the last 24 hours. Three logs are pulled near the fire, and in between are several marks scrawled in the dirt. The marks scrawled in the dirt are crude drawings of a two-headed stick figure that's shown emerging from a cave and running toward some houses.

GM Nowruz |

As you approach the slope, you see a wagon full of already-picked brightblooms, and remember the mayor saying they would come pick it up once you've dealt with the bullies.
If you made the DC 20 Knowledge (nature): You also see the brightblooms in more detail and know these flowers under a different name. But you know that crushed brightblooms confer a +2 bonus when used as part of any Heal check.

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 11
"Oh, the lovely flowers!" Meraina exclaims. She approaches the slope and, about 25 feet away, raises a hand. One of the brightblooms is picked up from the wagon with her Mage Hand spell and slowly drifts toward her.

Running up, huffing and puffing--apparently VERY out of breath--a young nobleman runs towards the group. His features are handsome in a Taldan sort of way: strong jaw, hawkish nose and high cheekbones. His hair seems to normally be pretty well groomed--the brown/black hair mid shoulder length, though tied up in a ponytail--though now some of the hair has pulled free of the ponytail, and the slight sheen of sweat has made the hair less dignified.
While his clothing is very nice cut, you can tell by the dust and grime, that he has been traveling on the road a few days without much sleep or time to freshen up. He seems slightly overburdened, carrying a pretty heavy backpack, chain shirt and 2 swords--a normal looking short sword and a very elegantly designed Aldori dueling sword.
"Sorry...(huff, huff)...I am late...", he says as he stops to gasp and wheeze a little. "Aparrently Venture-Captain Drandle Dreng thought it would be humorous to send me to Greyhaven...(huff, huff)...a 2 day ride from Highdelve...(deep breath in, slow exhale out)..with a "Do Not OPEN until you get to Greyhaven" message for me to read when I got there. So, when I got to Greyhaven, I opened my very important letter he gave me, and saw that he wanted me to meet with you all here in Highdelve. That crazy old man, I bet he will love to hear what his joke did to my blood pressure. Well, at least he gave me a quick missive on what he told you all."
"Never mind that shenanigans..quick introductions I guess. My name is Sir Randolf Inerio, expert in all things arcane and occult. Maybe you have heard of my family if you ever were in Taldor. The Inerio's are an offshoot of the Nicodemius family?....Well...no, probably not. 'Tis not important. Again, please excuse my tardiness.

![]() |

Seeing that apparently he has completely dazzled the rest of the group with his amazing entrance, Randolf heads to the shack to see what is inside.
Perception check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
And realizes that his eyes were still a bit gummed up from the ride to Highdelve and the quick run here....

Meraina giggles as she makes the bright bloom drift over to Sir Randolf. "A welcome present, m'lord," she says. "We think there is an ettin in the cave," she says absently, her nervousness betrayed by the way she twirls her red locks around her fingers.

![]() |

Sir Randolf smiles at the flower being presented to him. "But milady, tis I was the one who should offer you a gift. But I humbly accept this most gracious gift." He takes it from Meraina and slides the stem into the fastening of his brooch.
"A ettin...what...that kind of foul beast here? Say it isn't so? Shouldn't we all be forming up and staying close to each other to assist if needed?". With that, you see that both of his hands go to a sword, the left to grasp the short sword, and the right to hold his hand over the pommel of the dueling sword.
With that, Randolf looks around to see if he can see all of his companions, and also to look for ettin sized tracks.
Survival: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6 And the dice gods must love me in this incarnation....sigh
Also, where is everybody actually located at in the map? I only see myself and i believe Meraina on the map

My fault GM...my Init is only +4 (problem when I grabbed it from my level 6 character...). I have it correct in the bio page, but not in my stats in my scroll top next to my name. It looks like it wouldn't matter on initiative anyway. I will fix it now.

Running forward, his left hand going up to touch the helm on his head, he says, My friends, we don't have to fight. Stop shooting."

She glances down at the arrow in her chest and says softly, "So much blood."

Seeing the Tiefling dazed, Randolf realizes he should actually pull a weapon. His left hand goes back down and pulls out the short sword. Focusing his mental energy, he looks at the tiefling once again, and casts a spell.
Move action: Pull out his short sword (hate not having a +1 BAB).
Standard Action: Cast Daze on tiefling. Level 0 spell. DC 14 Will. And then I won't be able to Daze the tiefling for over a minute. But this might give us time to get in range.
Looking over to the two, Randolf says, "May I suggest you actually put your bows on the ground if you want us to consider you a non combatant? If the bows hit the ground, I promise you that I won't attack you."
