Season of Ghosts

Re: Dragon's Demand - It looks like there are three sanctioned parts (Tier 1-3, 3-5, 5-7) but unlike later modules such as Daughters of Fury or Gallows of Madness it also looks like only small sections are sanctioned for PFS rather than the whole thing. So...the best way to get PFS credit but still experience the entire module is to play it in Campaign Mode. When done that way all the chronicles get assigned when the entire module is finished, rather than as you go along.

The Concordance

Poly Vine Leshy Brawler 1 / Alchemist 1 | HP 22 | AC 18 tch 13 ff 16 | Fort +5 Ref +6 Will +2; +2 vs Fear | 10/10 Sling Stones | 49/50 CLW stick | GM reroll used | Init +2 | Perception +2 | Conditions:

I think you are allowed to apply Campaign Mode chronicles as they finish rather than having to wait for the whole series to complete. I am less sure of if you can play things in between sections of it.

Season of Ghosts

I was mainly basing the above on this thread and some information from the PFS Discord:

@Lady Ladile If you run the module in campaign mode you can do whatever you like to make a great story, just so long as the overall story stays the same (use a different system, use non PFS rules, etc). At the end of it you hand out chronicles for the three sections to the players, each assigned to whoever they decided and that's what they get, nothing that happened in the game actually carries over, even if they decided to use PFS characters, it's just the chronicles

Of course Dragon's Demand was only one of the possible options. Another option is to table this for the time being and I check back with everyone in a few months and see if enough of you are Level 5+ as there are more scenario options available in the 5-9 and 7-11 ranges. Or I see how many people from Tangle #2 would like to play again at some point and I mix the groups to try and come up with better scenario availability for everyone :)

The Concordance

1 person marked this as a favorite.

There are also the 3-7 replayable scenarios.

As for Dragon’s Demand, it did seem to me they left quite a bit of the content out in Event mode for PFS. I was looking to run it at my location, but didn’t like some of how they chopped it for PFS mode.

Nothing in the document or Roleplaying Guild Guide says you need to wait to apply chronicles all at once.

Guide, v10, pg. 12 wrote:

Campaign Mode: Campaign mode is intended to allow a group to experience adventure content in the manner most enjoyable to the player, even if it is not within the normal bounds of Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild rules. Campaign mode is available for all sanctioned Adventure Paths and for Pathfinder Modules that specifically include this option in their sanctioning documents. In Campaign mode, GMs can use their own rules for character creation and running the presented content (the entire book or series). They are not even required to use the Pathfinder RPG rules, but they must run the adventure using a tabletop roleplaying game and use the Adventure Path or Pathfinder Module as the primary source for adventure content.

After running a game in Campaign Mode, the GM should report sessions on paizo.com as usual and distribute Chronicle sheets to her players. A player may apply the earned Chronicle sheets to an appropriate Roleplaying Guild character in-tier for the Chronicle Sheet. Alternatively, they may use the sheet to create a new character. This is similar to applying credit to a pregenerated character (see Applying Credit on page 7), except that players can apply Campaign mode credit to characters of the same level or lower and they do not need to expend resources on their earned Chronicle sheets to resolve conditions. GMs receive full credit for the adventure as normal (see page 17).

I interpreted that as you run the game. As you progress after completing each section that gives a chronicle, you distribute chronicles. At the end you distribute the special chronicle to those who applied all three chronicles to the same character.

The chronicles are applied as if playing a pre-gen, so some may have to wait to be applied.

The easy way to do it for a set of PFS characters is you ‘clone’ the characters at the point you start and play through with the normal leveling rules on the clone. The official character doesn’t change until it receives a chronicle, at which point it gains the XP and gold from that chronicle.

The characters in campaign mode can be a different level than the PFS characters they are applied to. The characters the journals are applied to must follow the normal rules for character generation and advancement.

Season of Ghosts

^Okay, thanks for the information! I've yet to actually run a module for PFS credit so it's good to get some clarification on how it works from the GM side of things.

Grand Lodge

Thanks for the game GM! I need to go update my tracker data...

I would be up for something more after the holidays, for sure! But after 2 (yes two) computer crashes in the same number of weeks, I am going to spend some time getting everything updated online and stop relying on local storage...

Season of Ghosts

Okay folks, looks like that 'can't edit campaigns' bug has been fixed! I'll give this a little bit and then mark it inactive. Feel free to play and advance your leshy characters as you like and I'll check in with folks after the holidays to see who might be available for what :)
