'White Feather'

Unable to get close enough to attack the looming pumpkin creature, White Feather closes the distance and stoops into a crouched position, ready to leap to action should the thing approach.
Move forward and ready an attack
Readied attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 1 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10
| GM Ladile |
With only one foe remaining, White Feather moves forward and readies to strike should the pumpkin-creature approach while Lebraerio attempts to bring it down from a distance with his bow - missing only by inches.
Chittering wickedly, the pumpkin creature does indeed speed through the air towards White Feather - who attempts to punch it out of the air and misses as it ducks under his blow and slams painfully against his ribs!
Slam vs. White: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

______
With the threat ended, the little leshy bounces excitedly and even tries to slap your palms in some sort of show of approval.
"ఇది చక్కగా ఉంది! మీరు బలంగా ఉన్నారు!"
Then it cocks its head to the side and looks at the group expectantly.
"That was neat! You people are strong!"
"...হয়তো এই এক কাজ করে? আমি বললাম তুমি সত্যিই সুন্দর!"
"...Maybe this one works? I said you people are really neat!"

Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
The flames lick along the folds of White's robes as the thing crashes into him. The blow is painful, but after the threat passes and he pats out the flames, he is more dismayed about the blackened scorch marks on his wonderful bright blue robes.
He fingers the burnt area mournfully.

Kronas jumps up and down excitedly, not only because of the awesomeness of his team mates, but also because he recognises what the pumpkin said "Oh, oh, I know that one! It's Sylvan..." He smiles at the leshy and says, "হাঁ, তারা সত্যিই মহান! আপনি আগে White দেখা উচিত, তিনি ডান আকাশ থেকে ঐ জিনিস এক লাথি... ওহ, আমি Kronas, উপায় দ্বারা, এবং আমরা Pathfinders করছি! আপনার সাথে দেখা করে খুবই প্রীত হলাম!" He then works as a translator, relaying questions and answers to and from his fellow Pathfinders, but he also rattles out a lot of questions of his own, excited to meet such an interesting person "আপনার নাম কী, আপনি কোথা থেকে এসেছেন, ওহ, ওহ, আপনি কি ঘটছে তা জানেন?"
"What is your name, where did you come from, oh, oh, do you know what's going on?"
Kronas Kronglic
|
"Oh, it thinks that we're all really neat!" Kronas says, suddenly remembering to translate the leshy's first recognisable sentence.
Sorry for the weird text in the spoiler. I put it in so that I knew where to put the names after it went through google translate, and I forgot to correct it for the spoiler.
| GM Ladile |
"তুমি আমাকে বুঝ! ওহ, আমি খুব খুশি!" the leshy exclaims, doing a little happy dance. "আমি Feather Seed! আমি ক্ষেত্রের এখানে বসবাস। Elm আমাকে তৈরি করে, আমি মনে করি."
At the mention of Elm, the little creature hangs her head sadly. "সেই জিনিসগুলি দুষ্ট এবং গড় তারা হত্যা করেছে Elm. তারা এমন একটি সুন্দর মানুষকে কেন এমন করবে?"
"You understand me! Oh, I'm so happy!"
"I'm Feather Seed! I live here in the fields. Elm made me, I think."
"Those things are wicked and mean. They killed Elm. Why would they do that to such a nice person?"
Kronas Kronglic
|
Kronas giggles at the happy dance, the infectious joy of the leshy making him smile. "Everybody, this is Feather Seed!" Kronas says, waving for everyone to come closer and greet her properly, "She says that Elm made her, and that she lives here in the fields." He turns to face the now sad little thing and tries his best to console her, "আমি ... আমি জানি না তারা কি করেছে তাই করেছে ... কিন্তু আমরা এখানে এলম মত আরও সুন্দর মানুষকে আঘাত করতে চাই Elm! আপনি কি আমাদের সাহায্য করতে পারেন? তারা কোথায় থেকে আসছে তা খুঁজে বের করতে হবে."
Kronas looks around at he fellow pathfinders and asks, "Does anyone have any questions for our new friend? I'll translate for you!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 Just in case.
Seldiir Elberion
|
"Um, right, well... does she? he? erm... do they know where the creatures came from? Or why they are attacking? And why now? Do they have a creator?"
Seldiir makes a stiff little bow to the creature, "A pleasure, Feather Seed. I am Seldiir."
| GM Ladile |
Feather Seed's mood seems to brighten at Kronas' words and she looks up again. "তুমি প্রতিজ্ঞা করেছ?" she asks, sounding hopeful. "সেই জিনিসগুলি উত্তরে, সাঁতারগুলিতে উত্তর," she explains, pointing towards the north. "গত রাতে আমি তাদের পেছনে পেছনে পরে Elm! সেখানে একটি পুরাতন, পোড়া জায়গা আছে। এটা অনুভূত...এটা সেখানে খারাপ অনুভূত, তাই আমি থাকিনি." As Kronas translates, everyone realizes that she must be talking about the same place that Bertinard told you about, where he and the other villagers of Rosehaven put an end to the Gyronnans.
She looks around at the dozens and dozens of pumpkins still remaining in the field and shivers.
"You promise?"
"Those things live north, in the swamps."
"I followed them there last night, after they killed Elm! There's an old, burned place there. It felt...it felt bad there, so I didn't stay."
"I came back home and started smashing as many of the pumpkins as I could, so they wouldn't hurt anyone else! But there's so many and there's only one of me."
"But you're all big and strong and neat! I know you can stop them! That place in the swamp is scary...but Elm always told me to be brave, so I'll be brave and take you there!"

Feather Seed offers Seldiir a neat little bow in return, as Kronas translates. She shakes her head. "আমি জানিনা কেন তারা মানুষকে আঘাত করছে। এলম সবসময় আমার কাছে এত সুন্দর ছিল এবং শহরের অন্যান্য লোকও খুব সুন্দর বলে মনে করত!"
"I don't know why they're hurting people. Elm was always so nice to me and the other people in the town seem nice too!"
Although Feather Seed has no idea as to the origins of the pumpkin-monsters, you do remember something that Lebraerio had said earlier regarding how such creatures might come about. (Relevant information in that first small paragraph).

We'll put an end to them if we can. White Feather assures the little creature. He turns to the others then and says;
We're going to be heading into real danger by the looks of things. Maybe we should leave a note with Seed here that warns the village of the threat coming from the swamps. If we don't return in a few hours then it's because we failed, and he should deliver the message to get the people out. he shrugs. He is not a seasoned adventurer but it seems a good way to keep people safe at least.

"Pffft! We're Pathfinders, we will never fail." Kronas says, enthusiastically waving his flag, "Besides, we need Feather Seed to show us the way..." He frowns for a second, considering the consequences of failure and the danger posed to the villagers, not to mention his sister, "Although, I guess it doesn't hurt to be safe." He stuffs his hand down his shirt and retrieves the note given to him by Eliza Petulengro, he then passes the note to Feather Seed. He says quietly, but hastens to add, "ওহ, কিছুই ভুল হবে না ... এটা শুধু একটি সাবধানতা।"
Kronas looks up to White with a smile and says, "Once Luna has that letter, she's sure to find Bertinard and translate for Feather Seed." He then turns back to the leshy and says, "পথ ধরো, আমার বন্ধু!"
"Oh, not that anything will go wrong... It's just a precaution."

Like the little leshy that could, Feather Seed stands as tall as she's able and then offers a salute, clearly inspired by everyone's words.
"আমি আমার সেরা, বন্ধুত্বপূর্ণ Pathfinders করব! এখন আসো, আমাকে অনুসরণ করো!" she cries before hefting her mallet high and heading off north, across the pumpkin patch.
"I'll do my best, friendly Pathfinders! Now come on, follow me!"
_______
Feather Seed leads you north, past the pumpkin patch and onto an old, largely-overgrown trail. You follow the trail through the darkness for several miles, with only Feather Seed to guide you and your torches and other implements to light the way. As you proceed you notice the cover of the trees gradually begins to fall away, as does most of the other foliage. The ground now offers a bit of give with each step, seeming almost spongelike. You know that you must be getting close.
After a few more minutes of walking, the trail ends and you can see the ghostly shadow of a ruined, burned out building looming ahead just at the edge of your lights. Nearby, to your right, you also notice what looks to be an odd pile of stones. An occasional glint can be seen as you shine your lights in that direction.
Your leshy guide looks around, clutching her little mallet tightly in her hands.
"এই হল. খারাপ স্থান..." she whispers.
"This is it. The bad place..."

"That must be where Bertinard burned the bodies..." Kronas says, pointing at the ruins, "Feather Seed আপনাকে ধন্যবাদ!" He nods to Kara, "Right! Whatever monster lurks here, I'll circle around and distract it, giving you a clear shot..." But he has never been able to resist anything shiny or sparkly, and the strange glint from the stones catches his attention. "Oooh, what is that?" He asks in a hushed voice as he approaches the formation carefully.

White Feather puts a hand on Kronas' shoulder.
Not so fast. he says sternly but not with any malice. Let's just see what we're dealing with, nice and slowly.
He begins to move up to the formation with Kronas, not letting the bard get more than a step or two ahead at any point.
Will also try to keep a firing lane open for Kara
| GM Ladile |
"থু- ধন্যবাদ!" Feather Seed responds, brightening just a tiny bit. She edges up with the group, taking care to remain close to Kara and White Feather as they look around.
"Th-thank you!"
As the group fans out, ever wary, Lebraerio shines his light on the small rock formation that sits a few feet away to the group's right. No...not a rock formation - rock formations are natural. These are rocks that have been purposefully stacked atop each other, forming a small pyramid atop which sits a small gem that seems to wink at you as the light strikes it.
Seldiir keeps his eyes trained on the burned out ruins to the north, but doesn't see any movement. Or hear anything beyond the party's own movements.
Or does he?
It's faint, faint enough that you almost miss it, but you hear the sound of something rattling in the direction of the ruins.
______
@Kronas - Yep, feel free to cast your spell! @Everyone - the little area on the right of the map isn't a round building but a peculiar-looking pile of stones.
Kronas Kronglic
|
Kronas jumps a little when White places a hand on his shoulder, but then smiles and nods as he starts to slow down. Caught between a curious sound and a curious gem, he doesn't quite know which direction to take, and he kind of circles around committing to neither one direction or the other.
Just as he is about to cast a spell to make himself able to run like the wind, it suddenly twigs that he can answer Seldiir's question, "Oh, that's right! I can do that..." Kronas sticks out his tongue in concentration and starts tracing arcane runes in the air and whispering incantations.
I always forget about detect magic! Casting it towards the gem. :)
| GM Ladile |
Though Kronas remembers to do his due diligence (after a tiny bit of prodding from Seldiir), the gem does not radiate any traces of magic. On the bright side, Kara finds herself able to identify it as a cat's eye chrysoberyl gem and estimates that would likely fetch a good sum of coin - probably between 150 to 200 gold gold pieces.
When Kara speaks the name of the gem, recognition flashes in Lebraerio's eyes. He informs the group that priestesses and other followers of Gyronna have been known to erect simple stone shrines to their goddess, topped with cat's eye gems - from which, supposedly, the hags of Gyronna peer...

White begins edging toward the ruins, walking in a half crouch as he skirts around. He doesn't wander too far, for the others are still discussing what to do with the gem, but he does make sure that if anything comes at them from that direction, he is best placed to intercept.
The strange glowing light glitters off the white leather of his mask and the sweat-soaked flesh on show beneath his beautiful robes. He looks like some kind of forest spirit crouched there, but never do his eyes stray from the ruins north of them.

Kronas nods, "Yeah, it's way too pretty to destroy! Plus if you put it in a pocket, anything trying to scry on us won't be able to see a thing..." He turns to the north and studies the ruins "Besides, there's a rattle to inspect." Kronas casts another little spell, and chases after White with exceptional speed, overshooting slightly as he still tries to get used to his new found manoeuvrability.
Finally casting expeditious retreat :)
| GM Ladile |
As Kronas and White Feather move ever closer to the ruins, the strange rattling and clattering that Seldiir heard moments earlier grows audible enough for everyone to hear it. Light suddenly flares in the darkness and a being of bones wrapped in flame steps forward out of the blackened ruins. Three other skeletons also assemble and step forward, hands ending in wicked claws that flex in anticipation of rending soft flesh!

Lebraerio warns the group that the burning skeleton is stronger than the other three that they face. Not only does it shrug off blows from bladed or piercing weapons, but it is also (obviously) completely immune to fire damage. It radiates a painful fiery aura that burns those who draw close to it and upon death it explodes in a burst of flaming bone shrapnel, much like the jack-o-lanterns you faced earlier did. However, they are vulnerable to cold damage.
Meanwhile, the rest of the group begins springing into action! Seldiir stops where he is and readies to attack the first foe to draw close, while Kara fires off a lightning-quick shot at one of the skeletons that does indeed sail harmlessly through its ribcage. White Feather has better luck, charging up to one of the skeletons and delivering a solid blow with his knee that puts an end to it right there!
Seeing Seldiir as the closest target, the remaining skeletons shamble towards him with a rattling of bones. The two skeletons are unable to close the gap, but the burning skeleton is closer and is able to reach the brave warrior. Seldiir attempts to strike the horror with his sword but the skeleton ducks under the blow and swings at him with a sharp claw!

Thinking quickly, Kronas dips his hand into a pouch on his belt and runs up behind the two normal skeletons with incredible speed, "BOO!" Removing his hand from the pouch, his fingers now covered in grease, Kronas then traces an arcane glyph in the air while whispers some incomprehensible words. Suddenly, his buttery fingers are clean and a thin film of the slippery substance appears at the feet of the two would be attackers. "I won't let you gang up on Seldiir!"
