Damn you, Silbeg! Just so you know, I did read over this scenario back when I thought I'd be running it. I didn't prep it properly or anything and can hardly remember a thing. If something seems familiar, I'll try my best not to metagame it.
Haafiz should be good to go. I'll scan and upload my chronicles whenever I can.
Haafiz |
Which bit? ;-)
Yeah, so I've played Haafiz only once before and it was in person (and the GM wasn't great). Otherwise he's a GM / pregen credit baby. Trying to figure out his motivations from a PbP front... doesn't come into it so much in face to face PFS. Yet more reasons why I love PbP.
Haafiz, by the way, has all the social skills well in hand. Trying to play that up somewhat.
Pooka Bladespinner |
Pooka bladespinner checking in... Pardon me for a moment, I've got a demon to kill and some crusaders to save.
Pooka Bladespinner |
Now that Pooka is done and back from demon slaying, he is here and ready for September 19th, and the amazing PbP gameday. I want a boon this time dangit. :)
Haafiz |
Just bought some boots of swift fury for Haafiz. Oh man, his mobility is going to annoy the Nine Hells out of Jack, I'm sure. 60ft movement, spring attack, +8 AC vs AoOs (while raging), a domain ability to ignore difficult terrain as a free action... it's just insanity. Add into all that my rage, banes and judgements... then spells... oh, baby, oh!
Pooka Bladespinner |
Holy cats! That is awesome.... I can't wait to see it in action!
Haafiz |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
By the way, you all have Mikko's awesome inquisitor from Scions of the Sky Key Pt. III to blame for Haafiz (by the way, the inquisitor was originally called Zaril Namoth, but I re-skinned him as Valacosti the original Aspis man). I loved the build so much, I copied it... with my own little touches of course. The barbarian level and travel domain were my own attempts to avoid the need to have an expeditious retreat active... but I may well purchase a wand of expeditious retreat just to completely f*ck with Jack. 90ft land movement without the use of a haste spell? Insanity! Actually, probably 80ft since it wouldn't stack with the boots, but still...

Dang, it feels good to be back with old friends :)
This just feels right.
Pooka Bladespinner |
I think the list of scenarios we wanted to try to cram in for PbP gameday were just about all for the Drongos.
What is the expected/hopeful timeline for this game?
I dont' want to ask that question to seem pushy, just want to try to get an idea of what we can expect about how far we can get for the gameday games.
Edit: Pooka will be finalized once I get my WBG3 chronicle. Shouldn't affect anything in the beginning. Mostly just need the extra gold to be able to afford to enchant my cold iron lance.
Pooka Bladespinner |
Pooka will have all three WBG chrons assigned to him. He be very goblin....
Pooka Bladespinner |
Sweet! and I think that is just enough to tip me over 4k gold.... If I remember right I had something like 2700 after a few purchases following wardstone patrol. Should be just what I need to enchant the lance. I will get everything updated ASAP.
I have some family coming over for a birthday dinner tonight, so I can't promise it will be done tonight, but it will be done soon.
At one point I was going to purchase fire-forged armor and a fire-forged lance. Purchased the lance. Never used it (wasted gold) Sold it so I could go back to my original plan of magical cold iron, and 'regular' plate mail.
Pretty sure my upgrades are just armor and weapon related...
Finarin Moonstep |
Cold iron
Also, adding any magical enhancements to a cold iron weapon increases its price by 2,000 gp. This increase is applied the first time the item is enhanced, not once per ability added.
Pooka Bladespinner |
Pooka is 4.2 after WBG3. (putting him at 5.0 after this scenario) I am fully aware we are playing up, and I am confident in his survivability.
Mostly.
The out of tier gold will be nice to make up for my screw-up in purchasing a fire forged lance that I just turned around and sold without using.
And Finarin has it... Cold iron makes the initial investment pricey. I would skip it, but we should be doing quite a bit more in season 5, so the cold iron will come in handy.
Finarin Moonstep |
Honestly in rereading this intro I am mighty wary of this scenario. Posing as slaves, removing all our equipment, and only having one nonmagical weapon accessible to us seems - stupid. Having enjoyed the first scenario so much, and I am not sure what the end game is here so I am willing to keep an open mind, I am ok going forward. But it just seems odd. Next the scenario will have the slaves and slavers split up on purpose.
Miro Ammars |
I'm pretty sure Miro is at 16 XP. You guys likely got in a game or two while I was completely swamped at work and home. No matter...he can still sing. :)
Haafiz |
@Silbeg: It's a minor thing, but this game appears below the Zedroom. I don't suppose you'd mind removing the "[" from the start? I'm just so used to the Zedroom being last on my list that I continually don't scroll past it and as a result, may not post quite as frequently (just on those occasions when I neglect the extra scroll). I can easily get over it, just thought I'd ask.
Pooka Bladespinner |
Pooka is updated in hero lab.
Purchased +1 Cold Iron Lance, sold a fire forged steel lance that I never used. *grumble*
There might be something else, I will figure out what it is when I translate all my gear to my profile. (I like to do it manually as a backcheck to make sure I didn't screw anything up... and I don't like the default Hero Lab format for character sheets in BBCode)
Slowing down currently... so I might actually be able to take a lunch and update my profile as well.
Pooka Bladespinner |
Ok, Pooka is updated.
Purchased: +1 cold iron lance
Sold: cold iron halberd and fire forged steel lance
Lets rock this joint.
Finarin Moonstep |
Still not 100% sold in this conceptually. So how do I prepared spells w/o a spellbook? It is just weird.
And agree about getting in and out of chains. That is as dumb as tying yourself to a mast in the middle of a storm.
GM Silbeg |
@Finarin
To prepare spells you'll need a spellbook. However, you don't lose spells you don't use.
Haafiz |
Sorry, just quickly, do you need our taglines updated to be equipmentless? I can do that, but it's a bit of a pain if we'll be re-equipped relatively soon after sh*t hits the fan. You don't have to tell me if it will, just let me know if you need the stats and taglines updated for equipmentlessness as well.
Man, my spellchecker is hating all these made up word contractions. But it's fine with "spellchecker". Conceited f*ck.
Finarin Moonstep |
Grrrrrrrr not liking this, not .... one .... bit
Removed armor, amulet of natural armor, and cloak of resistance.
I would like to point out that Finarin retained a TON, so he now has:
Spell Shield - The magus can expend a point from his arcane pool as an immediate action to grant himself a shield bonus to AC equal to his Intelligence bonus until the end of his next turn.
So I reserve the right to enact this if I am hit, and the 'to hit' is less than 5 over my current AC.
Finarin Moonstep |
With 7 Arcane Pool points, I just don't want to burn through them to avoid a d6 worth of damage. Once an encounter starts, I will declare it. If I don't then that is my dumb fault. Sound good? Want to make this easy for you, but still be worthwhile for me. I can indicate it in my tagline once I declare it.
Pooka Bladespinner |
Ok, Doing some housekeeping work on Pooka - Profile updated to better reflect the format I have been using and like (shows more detail for chronicles, breaks out gear and such in an easier to see way)
Also have tagline updated to show how vulnerable he is without armor.
Haafiz |
Man, I've always had a vague idea of Haafiz's backstory. He's been a GM credit baby for ages. The main elements were: Keleshite, former slave, fled to Andoren, joined the Pathfinders and stayed with the faction as it became Liberty's Edge. He's always worshipped Desna for he believes she had a large part to play in the change of his life's fortunes.
That was it. Literally nothing else. The rest of him was all mechanics (which played out quite well in my single only live tabletop with him).
This adventure is absolutely f*cking perfect for getting the rest of Haafiz's backstory properly ironed out... and in a way that meaningfully contributes to the game! Man, I love PbP.
Haafiz |
Oops! That would make sense why you all didn't realize what was going on. It is updated now.
I don't know if I speak for everyone, but I think another part of the reason we didn't realize what was going on is because Korshad hasn't answered any of our questions yet. Any chance you'd be able to go back over our posts from here and let us know what Korshad says before we kick open the door?
I'd really love to hear what he says about what happened to the 'veiled lady'.
Finarin Moonstep |
I don't know if I speak for everyone, but I think another part of the reason we didn't realize what was going on is because Korshad hasn't answered any of our questions yet.
Was just going to write that.
Pooka Bladespinner |
Before we do anything else, I think it is important to get our answers about the veiled lady.
After that, I'm not entirely sure what we need to do here, besides get out the door.
We could use Kordash to bring a guard over and open the door, but it would be nice to avoid a full out combat with no gear. Maybe it isn't possible and the scenario railroads us into that, but i am hoping we don't have to.
Is the door made of stone or wood?
Before we do anything also, it would be good to know how Kordash responds to Haafiz. He is an unknown right now that we need to figure out before we make our move.
We also have the three named NPC slaves that were with us, and we need to find out what their interest level/place is in this, I tried to start with Gima.
So to try to help Jack out I believe our list is:
If I missed anything please add it to the list. It feels like we are spinning our wheels, I just want to get it all organized so we can get it all on the table.
Haafiz |
I've done quite a few big posts lately. I'm happy to let others rile up the crowd, but as a Liberty's Edger, I would very much like the opportunity to have my say. Miro is probably best for the primary roll on that one (+17 diplomacy!).
Amaranti, with his 20 strength, should be the primary roll for breaking down the door. Haafiz has 17, so he'll aid. Not sure which other 2 have the next best scores. Could use a guidance from someone or inspire competence from Miro (or both!) to help with the door in addition to our 3 aids on the strength check.
Pooka Bladespinner |
I'm with Haafiz... And Pooka has a decent str score. Miro can rock the speech, I will be happy to lend my voice (aid)
