GM Derek W |
Go ahead and dot here and in gameplay for tracking if you like. You can all introduce yourselves in character too, if you like.
Kynrac |
Dotting for now.
Kynrac |
Character updated and ready.
Desmond Aesculus |
Desmond and Sahrek are in the (I think) last fight of Red Harvest. We should be finishing right on time.
Kale Aldori |
GM, Just wanted to give you a heads up about my character, I'm not sure if your familiar with the Aldori Swordlord archetype, my AC will be changing a lot during combat based on what action I preform. I should have all of the changes listed in my Melee section of my character. I'll try to remember to post my current AC in my post.
GM Derek W |
Ok everyone, I just got the scenario yesterday. I'll try to get the briefing posted sometime tomorrow. Then I'll need to take some time to read things through and set up maps, etc. You can feel free to shoo the breeze IC during this time.
Also, Desmond decided to commit to another group, so I have one more spot open.
GM Derek W |
Ok, opening post is up! As I said, I'll need to take things slow for a week and a half, but we can at least get through the exposition. Feel free to ask your questions, and you may also roll Diplomacy and KN: Local, History, and Religion.
Kynrac |
Just a little heads-up concerning one of my revelations as a time oracle: temporal celerity allows me to roll twice for initiative and take the best roll.
Nahlah bint Alima |
Well, the fact that oracles don't need divine foci is certainly handy in this adventure.
Nahlah bint Alima |
Fun useless fact for today:
In Arabic, جَمُلَ (jamal) is the verb "to be beautiful", but shares the same root as the word camel (jml). Arabic is said to have "a thousand" words for this magnificent beast Camel names
All the camel related facts you could ever want ;)
GM Derek W |
I realized that we hadn't formally determined the APL and subtier we're playing in. So far it only affects the DC of your skil checks slightly, and Kynrac's rolls have made it moot... But here is what I figure. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
Nahlah 7
Jarlgur 5
Kynrac 6
Kale 7
Fendahl 5
Darius 9
Total levels = 39
APL = 6.5
That rounds to 7. Which puts our APL between tiers. With six players this would have us playing subiter 8-9 with the four-player adjustment.
However, since we have only ONE player with a character in the higher level range, I am willing to round a 6.5 DOWN. There have been many discussions on how to round a 0.5 because it is not always mathematical convention to round it up. I am a bit worried about having level 5's face 8-9 combats later on, but it is up to all of you. And if even one of you is a single level higher than I have listed, the choice is gone. We would be playing "up".
Fendahl Silvermane |
There was a chance I was going to level Fendahl to 6th before we started, but my Thistletop game ran a bit long on the last combat.
I fine with either tier if it matters.
Kynrac |
Kynrac's level is correct in your list. I'm fine with either subtier. My role is definitely a buffer/healer one (on top of party face), which combines well with so many melee combatants or switch-hitters.
Darius Swiftblade |
Sorry i haven't been more involved guys.. This guy is horrible at social stuff so he usually remains quite for those parts.. He'll prove his worth when comba comes though..
GM Derek W |
They'll definitely be glad to have you Darius. This scenario has already developed a reputation for having an extremely unique and challenging final encounter. It's just that it takes a lot of social interaction to get there!
Kynrac |
Alright, let's play up then! Unless one of the remaining players object?
GM Derek W |
Ok! The map is up in the Campaign Info section (top of each thread). It's on google docs, and should be fully editable by anyone with the link. PLEASE refrain from peeking into "covered" areas.
A few notes:
Remember your primary mission is to rescue the captive Rfitwardens (4 of them). You DO NOT need to slay everything in the compound. You CAN if you want to try, but remember the following:
Once the alarm is raised, you will be "on the clock" until the town guards and Pure Legion arrive. Once that happens, you could get into some real trouble. As in imprisoned and spending lots of gold or prestige to get out trouble.
Your enemies are a group of powerful spellcasters. It would only make sense if they had placed magical wards around the place. Just saying, because some groups forget about the power of using detect magic while searching dungeons.
Can any of you disable magical traps if you encounter them? I had the impression that only rogue could do this.
Good luck! I wouldn't be upset if we were able to finish this by next Saturday, but you'll have to be pretty sneaky to do that. If you prefer more combat, well, I can definitely say there's plenty to be found...
Nahlah bint Alima |
Plenty of folks can disable magical traps. I don't think anybody in this party can, though.
Darius Swiftblade |
I have 2 scrolls of Dispel magic and im memorizing an additional.. I would advise you all to purchase at least 1 scroll, or 2 for 2pp.. Oil of Bless weapon is very useful vs outsiders as well..
I would also advise everyone to get the standard antiplague/antitoxen as alot of outsiders have poison and disease attacks.. There are also alchemical fixes for other things like paralysis and nausea for example.. Might be worth investing in some..
Additionally for you spellcasters it might be prudent to purchase some Dweomer's Essence.. It's expensive but gives you a +5 bonus to beat SR when used.. Its awful handy when you wanna garantee that spell lands vs powerful outsiders..
Just a few tips from a guy whos had his ass handed to him a few times..
Kynrac |
I'll follow your advice and pick a scroll with two copies of dispel magic for 2pp. I'll also buy a scroll of resist energy, communal for 375gp.
Darius Swiftblade |
Didnt realize that was you Lithrac.. Werepox here.. It seems we go into the furnace on the same side in this one lol..
Kynrac |
Ah great to see you! Yep, let's hope all will go well. :)
Kale Aldori |
Like wise i'll snag a scroll with two copies of dispel magic for 2pp, and Happily offer it for the party's use, and 3 oils of bless weapon.
Jarlgur Flamnord |
Jarlgur has two oils of bless weapon. Rather than join the Dispel party and flood the market. Jarlgur will purchase a scroll with 5 castings of Lesser Restoration for 2 PP.
Nahlah bint Alima |
I buy nothing. I regret nothing!
Of course, mostly because I have 43 gp to my name right now.
Nahlah bint Alima |
No, but thank you for the offer. I just bough 15.5k of equipment on this character, so nobody to blame but myself.
Nahalah is ready to head out. I suppose I will have to leave the camel outside?
Darius Swiftblade |
Reduce camel spell? Nah.. If we did that we would all forgoe the mission to pet the cute, tiny camel all day..
On a side note I wish our Moonscar would push forwards..
Nahlah bint Alima |
I have entirely lost interest in that game. The replacement GM seems to ascribe arbitrary cinematic immunity/superpowers/omniscience to the various evil critters we encounter, and has similar anti-player fluidity with the plot. Why bother playing at that point? It has gone from a heroic tale to Heart of Darkness.
Darius Swiftblade |
Yea im pretty sure there have been changes to the monsters.. And the ability to constantly evade detection, even with true seeing up baffles me.. I just want it over and to move on..
Jarlgur Flamnord |
Posting from phone, so keeping it brief. Rather than using the wand, arcane eye can be directed/moved. Though, I agree upstairs is obvious, there nothing stopping you from putting it in a wall or floor.
Darius Swiftblade |
You also cant take the wand at the end of the scenerio so might as well use it.. The arcane eye will get used to im sure..
GM Derek W |
I too will be gone. Unable to post tomorrow and Tuesday due to 14-hour drive. Will check in at night each day if possible. You guys are really close to the end. Should be able to get chronicles to you next Wednsday or Thursday.
Go ahead and roll your day job checks and post your PFS number here for ease of reporting. Also, each of you please roll a d20 to see if you win a boon!
