When a monster is discovered on the grounds of the Pathfinder Lodge at Heidmarch Manor in Magnimar, an investigation into its appearance leads the PCs deep under the City of Monuments—and face to face with a burgeoning thieves’ guild.

I'd like to run Rise of the Goblin Guild as a sanctioned Pathfinder Society event via play-by-post on these forums, with supplemental material such as maps being housed on a public Google Drive. Please submit characters who can play in Subtier 1-2.
Because I envision this as the digital equivalent of an open game night down at the Friendly Local Game Shop, I'm not doing a traditional recruitment. Instead, I'll take as players the first four (or five, or six, see below) players who agree to and follow through on the following conditions.
(1) You must be a member of the Pathfinder Society. Information on how to join the Society if you're not already a member of this fine organization (it's free!) is available on the Paizo website.
(2) You must have a solid working familiarity with all the rules and procedures outlined in the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play version 4.3, dated January 7, 2013 (a free download).
(3) You must meet the assumptions of the Core Assumption outlined in the document mention in (2), above. That is, you must own legally obtained print or digital copies of the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook, Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Pathfinder Society Field Guide, and the free Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play mentioned above.
(4) Ancillary to (3), you must legally own any additional source (digitally or in print) you use to create your character, and those sources must be listed as legal for play in the Additional Resources document.
(5) You must be willing to provide me, via PM, your real name, your Pathfinder Society membership number, and an e-mail address which you frequently check (so I can e-mail you scanned copies of the completed Chronicles upon completion of the scenario).
(6) You must not have played Scenario #4-01: Rise of the Goblin Guild before. You may have GMed it, but if so, please tell me in advance and please refrain from metagaming during play.
(7) You must be willing and ready to post at least once per day, and to actively engage in both gameplay and in the attendant discussion thread.
(8) Last for best, and most importantly. You must use standard English grammar, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization rules in all your communications, with the exception of tagged dialogue, though even there my patience for Li'l Abner style orthography is scant. Diction and context are by far the best ways to convey dialect.
If you're still reading, here's how to apply.
Post an "I'm interested" type message in this thread using the alias of the character you wish to play in the scenario. Please have complete character sheet information linked via the alias.
As soon as you've posted, PM me with your real name, your PFS number, and an e-mail address you check frequently.
The party will consist of at least the first four people who PM me with that information (and who have also posted here). If more than four people are interested, then the next one or two who post before midnight Eastern Standard Time (USA) on Monday, 21st January, will round out the party.
Play will begin on or about Thursday, 23rd January, but please be aware I will have two travel days in early February as I fly to and from central Mexico. I'll advise the players of the specifics of any slowdowns before they occur.

Thosar here is level 1 wizard, but he is just about to finish First steps, part 1. Knowing PbP it will probably take him 3-4 more days until we finish. Does that (being currently part of another, very soon to be over scenario) prevent him in applying for this one?
Hmmm, well first off thanks for telling me, considering that if you hadn't I'd never have known! ;)
We won't be starting until Wednesday, so hopefully you'll be finished by then (depending on exactly where you are with First Steps I--the end of that one can get kind of complicated). I'll pencil you in for now and maybe we can juggle the schedule so that you're not double-dipping.
So please go ahead and send me that PM.

I am kinda new to PBP and online play.
I have never played in Society, so I am unsure whether I qualify for "...who can play in Subtier 1-2."Should I create a character and then send it to you, or wait for approval?
Make sure and carefully read the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play and follow the rules for character creation there as supplemented by the Additional Resources document. Both of those free .pdfs are available at the main Pathfinder Society webpage, which is linked at the upper left of almost every page on this website.
Tier 1-2 just means that characters of first and second level are appropriate. Since you're new, you'll be playing a first level character.

GM Nightfeather |

Okay, characters so far:
Jory Redcap, 2nd level dwarf Monk (Zen Archer)
Rickmeister playing an as yet unnamed 1st level human Paladin
Manzcar playing an as yet undetermined 1st level character
Possible:
Thosar Seltenmus, 1st level elf Wizard (Conjurer)--this character is finishing up an another adventure and might not be clear in time for us to start. (I encourage Thosar's player to simply make a new character if you want to play this scenario for sure.)

GM Nightfeather |

Cool. So we have:
Jory Redcap, 2nd level dwarf Monk (Zen Archer)
Rickmeister playing an as yet unnamed 1st level human Paladin
Manzcar playing an as yet unnamed 1st level Fighter.
Thosar's player playing an as yet undetermined new 1st level character.
--
Room for two more 1st or 2nd level PFS characters, still.

GM Nightfeather |

Excellent. So we've met the minimum table for a PFS scenario with:
• Jory Redcap, 2nd level dwarf Monk (Zen Archer)
• Rickmeister playing an as yet unnamed 1st level human Paladin
• Manzcar playing an as yet unnamed 1st level Fighter.
• Thosar's player playing an as yet unnamed 1st level Cleric.
--
And there's still room for two more PFS characters of 1st or 2nd level. If you haven't played organized Society play but are interested, don't hesitate to ask questions.

A tall man that was obviously enjoying his ale raises his mug and says:
"I believe you gentle folk could use a helping hand in solving this dastardly problem. If you will have me, I will share in your pain and sweat, and maybe afterwards, we can all drink to our victory!"
I will PM you the character, if that is fine with you. It was created using Hero Lab.

I've received a few questions and comments via PM that make me realize that some people thinking about applying are new to organized play. Most of the questions you might have are answered in the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play but the general point I want to make is that decisions about character creation and so on are in the player's hands, not the GMs.
So long as your character is legal according to the rules in the Guide as supplemented by the Additional Resources document, then not only do I not have a problem with it, I'm actually forbidden from having a problem with it. (Believe me, I'd ban summoners if I could--and will from any non-Society games I run here. ;) )
Now, that said, I understand that organized play can be confusing at first, so please don't hesitate to continue to send me questions via PM, or ask here (other people might have the same question, after all).
And, the update on our current party is:
• Jory Redcap, 2nd level dwarf Monk (Zen Archer)
• Travis Garess, 1st level human Paladin of Cayden Cailean
• Manzcar Alexander, 1st level human Fighter
• an as yet unnamed 1st level Cleric of Pharasma
Still room for one or two more!

There are a few things you should know about PFS.
Everyone starts with the same amount of money. A zen archer monk can actually afford to start with a bow.
No rich parents trait--some other traits are not allowed
Crafting is changed, some feats are substituted.
Anyway, it is not a big change from pathfinder RAW. Look forward to tagging along. I used 16 cold iron arrows in my last adventure, so need to buy more cold iron, and maybe some alchemical silver arrows just to be sure, and I'm ready to go.
Jory is a skirmisher, scout, archer. He can sneak, see things, but can't disable traps. He is also gruff and can embarrass in social situations (5 Charisma).
If someone else wants to join, recommend an archaeologist bard or rogue.

GM Nightfeather |

Welcome, Khain!
The party now consists of:
• Jory Redcap, 2nd level dwarf Monk (Zen Archer)
• Travis Garess, 1st level human Paladin of Cayden Cailean
• Manzcar Alexander, 1st level human Fighter
• Rutilus Pont, 1st level human Cleric of Pharasma
• Khain Thrune, 1st level human Wizard
Room for one more.

Im Interested, kitsune Trickster lvl 1
Hi, Kyomi, thanks for your interest.
Kitsune are only legal for Pathfinder Society play if the player has a Chronicle sheet that opens the race as a legal option at character creation (I'm borrowing language here from the Additional Resources document). Do you have that Chronicle?

¿what's a Chronicle sheet? sorry Im new to PFS, but I do have Advanced Race Guide where Kitsune appear
If I can´t use my kitsune Im still interested In playing as a rogue.

Rickmeister |

(Believe me, I'd ban summoners if I could--and will from any non-Society games I run here. ;) )
Wow, lucky me.. I was thinking about one of those :D
I think it's mostly because you have attentive and friendly players. It's not because we CAN that it's necessarily the thing to do. I would rather play something that is nice to play in the group, than something that could tackle everything on their own.. Be glad you have this group :)

GM Nightfeather |

Ok, because I cant use my Kitsune Trickster, I'd like to join as this character
Alys Rapston Halfling Rogue at your service
And with that, our party is set.
• Jory Redcap, 2nd level dwarf Monk (Zen Archer)
• Travis Garess, 1st level human Paladin of Cayden Cailean
• Manzcar Alexander, 1st level human Fighter
• Rutilus Pont, 1st level human Cleric of Pharasma
• Khain Thrune, 1st level human Wizard
• Alys Rapston, 1st level halfling Rogue
Those of you who are new to Society play, please take the time to read the Guide to Organized Play before we get started. I'll be going over character sheets and getting other information together over the next day or so, so watch your inboxes for any questions I might have.
The game is afoot!
