Hey guys, as a favor to your awesome DM can you please do your ship actions by Wednesday at the latest? Thanks.
Zach, I'll work up a list of potions and stuff brewed up for you Tuesday morning. I'm sure I'm going to burn (no pun intended) through all of the materials provided by the Grey Cloaks and will have purchased additional supplies before we left Absalom. Firebottom spends the first day the materials are delivered just going through them and doing crafting calculations.
How do you want us to RP the Knowledge boon we're trying to get from the ship's crew? Firebottom was going to approach Thyra about learning Geography from her. I've pretty much but a skill point into the rest of the knowledges at this point.

Just tell me how the approach is (are you trying to be friendly, bribe them, etc.) and then I'll tell you a roll and if you get a bonus to it or not. Then after the roll I'll tell you the response.
It's a bit long and requires multiple posts but that's the best way I know how to do it without just having you make a roll with no RPing.
Side Note: Can you please update your characters to lvl 5 on the boards. I feel like I'm giving you combats of insane difficulty so I'm trying to reassess the CR of my encounters.

I'll get the character sheet updated as soon as I finish deciding on Firebottom's level 5 changes. I've decided to not take the Firearms weapons proficiency but instead keep a ready supply of Bestow Weapon Proficiency potions on-hand at all times.

Bregen ... think you'd be able to craft this at some point? It's from Goblins of Golarion. Was thinking maybe on the return journey to Absalom.
Explosion Pocket
Aura faint evocation; CL 1st
Slot none; Price 3,000 gp; Weight 1/2 lb.
Description
An explosion pocket looks like a cloth pouch just large enough to contain a Small or Medium humanoid’s hand. When placed against a shirt, vest, jacket, trousers, or similar piece of clothing, this ragged green patch attaches to the clothing, creating a loose pocket. The pocket functions as a normal pocket, but once per day the pocket’s wearer can, as a standard action by speaking a command word while his hand is in the pocket, cause the pocket to create a single vial of alchemist’s fire. If a vial of alchemist’s fire is in the explosion pocket when it is commanded to create a vial of alchemist’s fire, the pocket instead supercharges the existing vial within so that it inflicts double the normal fire damage a vial of alchemist’s fire would normally inflict. An explosion pocket can be removed as a full-round action, allowing it to be placed on a different piece of clothing as the owner wishes. A vial of alchemist’s fire created or supercharged by an explosion pocket reverts to a vial of inert bitter-tasting water 1 minute after it is created or supercharged.
Construction
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, Burning Hands; Cost 1,500 gp

Did a Google Image search for "asian steampunk" and this airship came up. This is how I want to get back to Absalom!

probably engineering, arcana, craft(construct) or some mix of above, I haven't decided yet.
Also that image is saved.
Good stuff, let me know and Firebottom will take the initial skills next time we level up. Who knows, we might have our own robotic army when we get back to Absalom.
And with Chris being a bit late tonight I'm going to take the chance to swing around to the grocery store right after work. I should still be on by the regular time but I'll just be getting home at 8:30 eastern.

Regarding the yak ... I'll never forget in one of the first books I read by David Breashears (he's the climber who directed the Everest IMAX movie), he told this story that went something like one the yaks they had carrying their equipment fell into a crevice. That yak happened to have a bunch of their food on it. They lost all of the food but the Sherpa were able to haul the body back up and slaughter it. Lost a yak but replaced all the food!

Definitely going to work on rebuilding Firebottom with the goblin Alchemist Fire Bomber archetype. Might change some of his skills around but I'll still focus on him also being the resident Rogue of the party. For purposes of avoiding meta-gaming, I'm not going to take any points in Engineering or Craft (Construct) until next level.
Just curious, what other rebuilds are people doing?

Rebuilding the Sterk, dropping word casting as I cant make magic missile with word spells. Taking some human feats probably.... Thinking about making a gun blade.... that's not part of the rebuild, just figured I would drop more video game references into my character. You can never plagiarize enough.
Also on a side note. I will not be able to make it this Thursday as I will be about 1-2 hours late.
However as the game is postponed, I can run my evil campaign as I have the party of do-gooders for the evil party to fight. Plus its always fun to see what kind of crazy characters that will come out of the new races book as anything goes as long as your a murdering monster (literally or figuratively). But as I said I wont be able to play until later.

Looking forward to that, I will have some really nasty stuff lined up for you.
Also I'm going to be a Sorcerer again, just a much better sorcerer with a Dex score this time. The only problem I'm really having right now building him is choosing his domain. The best one is Arcane but it is also the most boring, do you have any suggestions?
Also I was looking through a 3PP book on Sorcerers and had you guys not burnt Bregen's body I would have rebuilt him with the gibbering mouther bloodline. When I saw it I was like thats awesome, Bregen can still live (with major changes of course) than after looking at it I was like oh yeah he was cremated lol.

Didn't we keep your hand? You could do a Doctor Who regeneration thing.

Sorry that there wasn't a game. I got home WAY later then I thought and no one was online except for poof.
However I would like to share something with you guys. I'm not saying go and pledge because it is free to use right now, but I am really liking the look of this. This is a step in the right direction for virtual rp tables. The Kickstarter is for token, map, deck support & now virtual dice.
EDIT:
I have to say I have been playing with this for a few days and I'm impressed. The dice roller is WAY better then map tools. Its supports video chat & voice. Has a table system that allows you to set up tables to roll on, for like critical hits and encounter tables. But my personal favorite is the drawing system, I can use my wacom tablet to draw maps on the fly, something that not as nice to use in map tools. They are working on Photoshop style drawing controls for map creation, so it will get even better.

Looking forward to playing on Thursday. I'll get the Firebottom rebuild onto the board on either Wednesday or Thursday morning. I kept everything pretty much the same except I added the goblin fire bomber archetype and rather than Master Alchemist I went with Goblin Gunslinger.
I'm looking forward to the extra fire splash damage. Splash goes up from 8 to 11 points of damage.
MJinthePitt |
i redid Veits point buy slightly. I still add up to 20 though.
When I started to redo Firebottom I went back to the recruitment thread in the hope we'd actually been given 25 points to work with! Now that would have been fun.
I would love to find the yaks.
I just want to find my Portable Alchemist Kit. At this point I feel like even if we have campaign downtime I'm going to be kind of stuck with nothing to do.

Okay, so I have my character build almost finished. The only thing that I am missing is the Bloodline. I was debating between Arcane and Void Touched, but if you guys have a different idea please share because I have no idea what I am going to pick.

yeah your yaks are pretty dead from that avalanche...and searching through the snow to find your equipment would probably takes days you don't have.
Grrrr!
Note to self, as soon as we're back in civilization Firebottom is buying a Handy Haversack. Unless our awesome GM wants to let me retcon it along with the character rebuilds!
MJinthePitt |
Zach, for your consideration ... Fire bolts. I'll be taking Knowledge (Engineering) next level along with the other stuff building Constructs so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility Firebottom could figure out how to build these from scratch.
Ammunition (Crossbow): Bolt(s), Fire - These carefully crafted wooden bolts have a hollow core filled with alchemist’s fire.
- Benefit: On a successful hit, fire bolts deal normal damage plus 1d4 points of fire damage.
- Note: Alchemical fire bolts do not cause any splash damage, and the fire burst isn’t enough to ignite targets (unless they are particularly flammable).
The d20 SRD has all kinds of crossbow bolt ammunition like this.
