Broccan Dunchad |
Broccan draws his shiny magical longsword and rushes to engage the beast.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Edrukk Thorvirgun |
Initiative 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Edrukk moves to engage the creature, drawing his greatsword as he moves.
If Broccan is blocking the creature's path to the softer party members, Edrukk will move to provide him with a flank (if possible) or move up next to him to create more of a wall for the spellcasters.
Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Not including a potential flank
Damage 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1) + 3 = 5 Doubt this is necessary, but don't want you waiting for me unnecessarily
"Well struck, lad! Well done, indeed!"

Canvy experiences the creatures strange hide, his polearm hitting well, yet barely cutting into the creature....

Zaniah Riverthorn |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Her peels of creepy laughter just dying down, Zaniah looks towards Broccan. She does a poor job at suppressing a small smile. The smile becomes a snrk, and then she begins to laugh again.
Fortune on Broccan, for 1 round you can choose a d20 roll, roll twice and take the better result. Then, Cackle, to extend the Evil Eye and Fortune for an additional round.

Erine eyes Zaniah uneasily. She mutters something. Then she waves a hand, gesturing toward behind the second one.
Broccan Dunchad |
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Broccan slashes again at the grick. He does his best to keep himself between it and the witches.
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
"Thank ye, lass, once ag'n." Edrukk's AC is 19 for the moment.
Edrukk concentrates on the same critter as Broccan in hopes of dropping it.

Dang. The first attack cancels the ward.
As Edrukk's mystical protection vanishes, an unpleasant creature appears behind the grick. It resembles a dog, but with black fur and glowing red eyes, and from its mouth pours a constant stream of vermin. Spiders, centipedes, even a mouse or two. They are all bright red, and they are all faintly screaming. They vanish upon hitting the floor.
"Kss!" Erine shouts, pointing at Edrukk's attacker. The dog barks, coughing out a glob of mealworms, and nips at the grick. Its teeth do not appear to leave a mark.
Fiendish riding dog. Summoned to give Edrukk flanking bonuses.
Erine then backs away.
Actually, looks like the dog can injure the grick on max damage. 1d6 ⇒ 4
Nope. Can a grick be tripped, maybe?
Well, here's the attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
And CMB check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Zaniah Riverthorn |
And, by the by, the Grick gets a stern glare in return for hitting Edrukk. "Never again." Zaniah enters yet another creepy giggle fit, this one seeming less mirthful than the one before.
Evil Eye a -2 to attack rolls on this Grick, dc 16 for 1 round instead of 8. Then, cackle to extend the evil eye and Broccan's fortune an extra round.
KenderKin |
Canvy's mighty blow slides across the creatures hide with nothing left in its wake....
Everyone!
Magic is needed to damage this thing, Broc's magic sword is getting things done...
Grick 2 will save

The creature continues to attack Edrukk!

Canvy Mandrain |
Seeing his friends having so much trouble hitting this creature Canvy calls on his god to help them in their crusade. He holds his polearm in one hand and picks out a strange mask like symbol. He holds it up as purple energy pulses from the symbol, giving his comrades renewed hope of victory.
Casts Bless: Allies gain +1 on attack rolls and saves against fear for 2 minutes.
Zaniah Riverthorn |
KK, that Grick is currently getting -2 on his attack rolls due to Evil Eye.
Anyway, let's Evil Eye it in the Armor Class now. (DC 16 save vs 8 rounds, success means 1 round instead) followed by Cackle to extend everyone's buffs/debuffs
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
Thanks for the reminder, Z - so only the first attack hits, then.
Growling in frustration, the dwarf takes a moment to call on Gorum's blessing for he and his allies.
Channeling to heal the party, excluding the gricks 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6
Erine Wintyle |
The dog snaps at the grick again.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
On the off chance that hits: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Remember, Edrukk gets a +2 bonus from flanking.
EDIT: Just realized that I forgot to add half again for the dog's primary attack. Fixed, not that it makes a difference. :P
EDIT 2: Actually, it means the grick would've taken one point of damage from the first attack. Again, not that it matters. :P
Zaniah Riverthorn |
Yeah, sorry for the confusion. She Evil Eye'd the attack rolls of the one that had hit Edrukk, and this turn just Evil Eye'd its Armor Class as well. Should be a total of -2 to attack and AC right now. Poor Grick 1 died with only a -2 AC Evil Eye.
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
Ovirid tries to take advantage of the creature's flight.
Greatsword 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 bless, flank
Damage 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 3) + 3 = 11
Oh, good grief. Worst roll yet.
Zaniah Riverthorn |
"And that is that..." Zaniah murmurs, finally quieting her laughing fit as the second beast is slain (though with a couple of added almost-laughs after Broccan's second astoundingly effective hit). "Do you think there could be any previous victims who fell here?"
Edrukk Thorvirgun |
"Aye, well done, lad." Looking around at the room, he adds, "Le's look t' see if'n th' critters took from me ancestors." He points at Canvy, "If'n ye fin' somethin' 'at looks dwarven, 't be fer stayin' wit' th' tombs, aye? Any orcish swag be fair t' take."
KenderKin |
At the far end of the cavern
The Iron Door
Cut into the cavern wall stands a small but very strong-looking door of iron plate, about 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide. Heavy rivets stud its surface and a tarnished silver rune gleams on the door’s rusted face.
