Wilen climbs softly down the steep stairs, which are nothing more than a series of wooden planks set into the soft sediment of the cavern's floor. The chamber beyond resembles a sunken pit more than anything else, and bones of various animals -- including humanoids-- litter the floor near a pair of empty cages. Several sconces with burning torches adorn the walls illuminating a trio of starving dogs who immediately sense your presence and taking up barking, loping over to attack.
As the savage dogs approach, you can see they are foaming at the mouth.

Wilen glides sideways, backing into the closest corner he can find, both making way for his teammates but keeping the dogs out in front of him. He draws his crossbow as he does.

Feeding Pit - Round 1 - continued
Moving into the pit, Wilen keeps his back to the wall while he readies and loads his crossbow, hoping his allies follow to keep the mangy hounds off him.
Nylthe casts a warding spell on her eidolon, trying to use him in the coming fight so she doesn't have to join in.
Calling out the divine power he represents, Juis offers a benediction to all his allies, heartening them and sharpening their battle prowess.
Okuru, you are up.

Feeding Pit - Round 1 - continiued
Okuru unlimbers one of his javelins and throws one across the pit. The weapon hits one of the dogs, hurting it severely. The wounded animal doesn't go down, but is clearly disabled and near death.
Aggressively defending their territory, the un-wounded dogs both rush to attack.

Feeding Pit - Round 1 - concluded
Seeing the passage to the fighting dogs cluttered with non-combatants, Marianna can only sigh heavily and wait for the passage to clear.
As she watches, Aconite turns into a whirling dervish of claws and teeth, ripping and tearing at the poor mundane canines who assaulted him. First he shreds Green Dog, and then gives the other a mortal wound.
Red Dog, also mortally hurt by Okuru's javelin, advances slowly on Wilen, teeth bared,but also whimpering with pain.

Rather than dare the maddened dogs' fangs herself, Nylthe flings a small bolt of acid at the nearest hound.

Feeding Pit- Round 2 - concluded
The dog lunges at Wilen as he fires a bolt at its face and just as its jaws threaten to lock down on the alchemist's arm, he fires the bolt passing through the open mouth of the infected dog, killing it instantly.
As Juis waits, Nylthe lobs acid at the remaining hound, but the crowded hallway and frenetic movements are too much for her to deal with effectively and the acid flies well wide of the mark.
Conjuring his own magical attack, Okuru hits the lone dog with any icy beam of frost that does just enough damage to put down the woefully hurt canine, ending the fight.

With the aggressive dogs put down, the Pathfinders can safely enter the room now. Clearly this room is the home of the pesky, but now dead, dogs. The cages stand open, and bones, detritus and waste litter the floor in a filthy potpourri. A set of stone steps leads up to a doorway on the north side of the room, which leads beyond the dog pit.

Letting Wilen get a little bit of room to be stealthy, Juis eventually follows him toward the stone steps.

Nothing in the dog pit divines as magical, so the party moves on. Wilen presses ahead as stealthily as he can. As he peers into the room, he sees a dimly lit chamber with three sets of wooden stocks hanging from the northern wall with piton chaining the devices to the wall. An unconscious man dangles from one set by the wrists. Light flickers in and out of the room, reflecting off the water from teh main cavern outside, and small holes in the ceiling act as skylights ensuring the room needs no torches to light it in the day. Several stone columns break up the center of the cavern, creating lots of shadows.
The hanging man seems alive and semi-conscious. He wears a sages robes, and has a long beard that is flecked with grey.
Nothing else of interest is visible in the room.

Juis walks up a little bit but stops just before getting out in the open, fully expecting some type of trap even though he wants to go check on the imprisoned individual.

Nylthe first sees to Aconite's wound before continuing. Once they see the prisoner however, she silently agrees with Juis's assessment.
I can't imagine that she just leaves vicious dogs near her prisoner without some kind of guard
After a quiet nod, Aconite pads forward, testing the air for unwelcome surprises, while Nylthe covers his flank.

As Aconite pads into the room, he stops scenting the presence of others in the room. He turns to Nylthe to say something, but the trap is sprung.
One of the guards pulls a lever in the wall near the entrance to the dog pit, and a spiked gate drops from a hidden enclosure in the ceiling at both ends of the dog pit, sealing in Marianna, Okuru, and Wilen.
From hiding place throughout the cavern, 2 pirate sailors emerge, wielding cutlasses. From behind one of the columns, a woman emerges holding a hand crossbow. She is tall and lithe and seems to have pupil-less white eyes. "So you have taken Mumbuckle, eh? No matter. I have your cyphermage. Perhaps, we can arrange something mutually agreeable?" As she speaks, she motions to her minions, and they move to attack.

After flipping the switch to lower the bars, Green Pirate draws his cutlass and moves to attack, swinging on the still surprised Juis. Fortunately, the sea dog is not a fine swordsman, and his attack fails.
Aconite, Marianna, and Nylthe are up now. The gate is made of rusty iron. It can be damaged by weapons (no attack roll needed) or perhaps lifted by STR check. Aid is available for those adjacent to the gate (on either side).

When she steps back he lobs one of his bombs into the gate.
