The Lionfish - Round 2 - continued

Marianna steps up protecting Juis' flank and attacking Green, but her sword blade misses.

Blue Pirate steps back towards the mainmast and attacks the screaming eagle. But his slashing attack is mostly defensive and does not hit the celestial bird.

Nylthe and her eagle are up now, along with Wilen and Okuru.

As Wilen readies his explosive concoction, he leaves himself open to attacks from a pair of the pirates but both attacks miss. For his trouble, Red Pirate takes the bomb right in the face. The fire hurts the target, but does not kill him.

The grippli officer advances on the far side of the ship, and when just past the mainmast, he tosses an explosive device of his own targeting Juis and splashing flaming liquids on Okuru and Marianna. Juis bears the brunt of the explosion, taking serious damage.

Red Pirate rushes at Wilen with the idea of pushing the little fellow over the railing and back into the sea. Since Wilen has no melee weapon, he cannot attack as the pirate lowers his shoulder into him, smashing him up against the railing of the gunwale and over the other side. The halfling falls 20' but lands in the boat atop Nylthe with a thump.

Juis is up. Bomb does 8hp dmg to Juis, and 3 splash damage to Marianna and Okuru unless they make a DC 13 Reflex to halve (that'd be 1). Wilen can have an Acrobatics DC 15 check to avoid damage from first 10' of falling, but must take at least 1d6 of falling damage. See my note in Discussion for more on this.

Marianna takes all of the splash damage while Okuru is able to avoid most of it. The cavalier prefers frontal assault and despte the hazard of Blue Pirate's cutlass, she rushes for the crew's leader, the bomb-tossign frog-man.

Surprised by her bold move, Blue Pirate makes a feeble attempt to slash at Marianna's side which she easily avoids. Her own attack on the grippli officer fails to connect as he dodges the blade with grace and agility.

Seeing the celestial eagle engaged with his fellow, Blue forgets about Marianna and moves to flank the summoned bird, which seems an easier target than the heavily armored paladin. The back stab into the eagle works, and the damage is enough that the celestial raptor blinks out of existence. The pirate whoops with victory, ready to drive more of the attackers away.

Okuru tries his dazing magic, this time selecting Green Pirate who threatens Wilen once again. This time the kitsune grins as the eyes of his target glaze over.

Marianna tenses for just a second as if she's going to swing again, then takes the edge of her cape to clean her blade. Sheathing her sword, she glares at the grippi, before starting angrily, "From the way you and your shipmate acted, you're in charge right now. Where's Alejia?"

Indeed, let's get some answers fast now. We were able to take your upper hand from you a bit too easily...

Not wanting to make any specific threats which as such may be alignment opposed :D, Wilen chooses to be vague, glare down the grippli and let it draw what conclusions it may.

Intimidate, aid Marianna, DC10: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

So, we have two aids to the Intimidate, but no primary roll. Looks Nylthe has hte best bonus, so let's assume she takes the lead.

The pale half-elf prods her whip under the chin of the surrendered frog-man. "The cavalier asked you a question, don't make her have to ask twice, or you'll feel what the other end of this is like." She cracks the whip, and Mumbuckle's eyes widen with fear.

He stammers, "But she'll k-k-kill me if t-t-talk. Will you protect me? Will the Society give me sh-sh=shelter from her revenge?"

Nylthe Intimidate, 2 aids: 1d20 + 9 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 9 + 5 = 23

Darn, apologies, not sure how I missed that Marianna's roll was aid. Thankfully Nylthe's roll was great too.
