About Nylthe Shadowbound

Appearance::
Nylthe's eyes never light upon anything. Instead they bore into whatever she looks at. Even when prepared for battle she dresses formally, the links of her mail have been varnished and polished until they seem like an appropriate ornament to her mourner's garb.

Nylthe is pale like a corpse except where she's not. Strange blemishes of shiny black skin seem to creep out from under her hairline, beneath the high collar of her dress, the gaps between her gloves and the hems of her sleeves. She tells herself they're moving, not growing. Sometimes she wonders if that's really better.

Low-Light Vision: Nylthe can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.

Elf Blood: Nylthe counts as both an elf and a human for any effect related to race.

Elven Immunities: Nylthe is immune to magic sleep effects and gains a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.

Ancestral Arms: Exactly what her parentage is that she was trained with a whip from childhood is perhaps best left unexamined. Nylthe is proficient with whips.

Darklands Guide: Those who brave the lightless tunnels below Golarion's surface learn to identify the dangerous phenomena that characterize the Darklands. Nylthe gains a +2 initiative checks, and on saves against traps and hazards when underground.

Arcane Training: Half-elves occasionally seek tutoring to help them master the magic in their blood. Nylthe can use spell trigger and spell completion items for Summoners as if one level higher.

Eidolon: Nylthe has the ability to summon to her side a powerful outsider named Aconite. Aconite is treated as a summoned creature, except he is not sent back to its home plane until reduced to a number of negative hit points equal to or greater than his Constitution score. In addition, due to his tie to its summoner, Aconite can touch and attack creatures warded by protection from evil and similar effects that prevent contact with summoned creatures.

Nylthe can summon Aconite in a ritual that takes 1 minute to perform. When summoned in this way, Aconite's hit points are unchanged from the last time he was summoned. The only exception to this is if Aconite was slain, in which case he returns with half its normal hit points. Aconite does not heal naturally. He remains until dismissed by Nylthe (a standard action). If Aconite is sent back to his home plane due to death, he cannot be summoned again until the following day. If Nylthe is unconscious, asleep, or killed, Aconite is immediately banished.

Aconite also bears a glowing rune that is identical to a rune that appears on Nylthe’s forehead as long as the eidolon is summoned. While this rune can be hidden through mundane means, it cannot be concealed through magic that changes appearance, such as alter self or polymorph (although invisibility does conceal it as long as the spell lasts).

Life Link: Nylthe has formed a close bond with Aconite. Whenever he takes enough damage to send him back to his home plane, as a reaction to the damage, Nylthe can sacrifice any number of hit points she has without using an action. Each hit point sacrificed in this way prevents 1 point of damage dealt to the eidolon. This can prevent Aconite from being sent back to his home plane.

In addition, Aconite and Nylthe must remain within 100 feet of one another for the eidolon to remain at full strength. If Aconite is beyond 100 feet but closer than 1,000 feet, his current and maximum hit point totals are reduced by 50%. If he is more than 1,000 feet away but closer than 10,000 feet, his current and maximum hit point totals are reduced by 75%. If he is more than 10,000 feet away, he is immediately returned to his home plane.

Summon Monster III (Sp): Nylthe can cast summon monster III as a spell-like ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + her Charisma modifier (7). Drawing on this ability uses up the same power that she uses to call Aconite. As a result, she can use this ability only when her eidolon is not summoned. She can cast this spell as a standard action, and the creatures remain for 1 minute per level (instead of 1 round per level). She cannot have more than one summon monster or gate spell active in this way at one time. If this ability is used again, any existing summon monster or gate from this spell-like ability immediately ends.

Bond Senses: Nylthe can, as a standard action, share the senses of Aconite, hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, and touching everything he does. She can use this ability a number of rounds per day equal to her summoner level (5). There is no maximum range to this effect, but they must be on the same plane. Nylthe can end this effect as a free action.

Shield Ally: Whenever Nylthe is within Aconite’s reach, she gains a +2 shield bonus to her Armor Class and a +2 circumstance bonus on her saving throws. This bonus does not apply if Aconite is grappled, helpless, paralyzed, stunned, or unconscious.

Link (Ex): Nylthe and Aconite share a mental link allows for communication across any distance (as long as they are on the same plane). This communication is a free action, allowing her to give orders to Aconite at any time. In addition, magic items interfere with her connection to her eidolon. As a result, Nylthe and Aconite share magic item slots.

Share Spells (Ex): Nylthe may cast a spell with a target of “you” on Aconite (as a spell with a range of touch) instead of on herself. She can cast spells on Aconite even if the spells normally do not affect creatures of the eidolon's type (outsider). Spells cast in this way must come from the summoner spell list.

Shadow Blend (Su): Aconite effortlessly blends into the shadows, giving him concealment (20% miss chance) in any illumination other than bright light. In dim light or darkness, he has a 50% miss chance instead of the normal 20% miss chance; though he does not gain total concealment. Aconite can suspend or resume this ability as a free action.

Deathtouched: At some point Nylthe was tainted with the corruption of the undead, and she has gained some of their defenses. She gains a +1 trait bonus on Fortitude saving throws.

Omen: Nylthe is the harbinger of some future event. Whether this event bodes good or ill, she exudes an ominous presence. Nylthe gains a +1 trait bonus on Intimidate checks, and Intimidate is always a class skill for her. Once per day, she may attempt to demoralize an opponent as a swift action.

Enduring Scholar: Nylthe's exposure to dangerous magic has conditioned her to resist spells. Once per adventure before rolling a save against a spell, she can apply a bonus equal to 1+1/2 the goals she has completed (+3)

Magical Tinkerer: Nylthe has a knack for analyzing and activating magic items. Once per adventure, she can use a bonus equal to 5+twice the number of goals she has completed (+9) to a Use Magic Device. If her own skill bonus is higher, she gains a +2 bonus to that check instead.

Inside Knowledge: As a former member of the Aspis Consortium, Magali Delroya is well informed about the organization's activities, and she shares some of her information with Nylthe. She gains a +2 bonus on Knowledge (local) checks about the Aspis Consortium and can roll such checks untrained. She can give up this boon to take 20 on a single such check.

Nemesis of the Aspis: Nylthe is an expert at sabotaging the Aspis Consortium’s nefarious schemes. During any scenario in which she encounters the Aspis Consortium, she may once, as an immediate action, force an enemy Aspis agent to reroll a single d20 and take the worse result.

House Thrune's Favor: Nylthe's complete discretion in infiltrating the Chelish embassy has earned her a rare token stamped with the insignia of the House of Thrune, signifying her favor in the eyes of Cheliax's ruling house. This grants her a +3 circumstance bonus on Diplomacy checks to influence high-standing members of House Thrune, the Chelish government, or a Hellknight order in good standing.

Debt of Cyphers: Nylthe rescued ex-Pathfinder and Cyphergate scholar Hirako Gurukaza from the hands of pirate kidnappers. In thanks, he has spread her name among the Order of the Cyphers. When in Riddleport, she gains a +2 bonus on Knowledge (arcana) and Linguistics checks when she consults Gurukaza before making the check. In addition, the Order's connection to some of Riddleport's more powerful criminal elements also provides her a future benefit in the form of a +2 bonus on Diplomacy checks made in the city to gather information.

Riddleport Respect: Word of Nylthe's defeat of pirate captain Alejia Netrav has spread throughout Riddleport, and she's earned the respect of the criminals and thugs that call the city home. When she flexes her muscle, folks in the City of Cyphers pay attention. Nylthe receives a +2 bonus on Intimidate checks made in Riddleport.

Impressive Influence: During the course of the wedding festivities, Nylthe impressed one or more of the guests in attendance. How this influence will play out in the future is not yet clear, but you have nevertheless ingratiated yourself with a number of influential members of the Inner Sea society: Nigel Aldain, Alexander Bedard, Hamaria Blakros, Tancred Desimire, Jeon Raeng-Woo, Rubaani Shafar.

Foiled Plans: Nylthe was part of the Pathfinder team that foiled the Shadow Lodge's plans to ruin the Pathfinder Society's reputation in Magnimar. Surely the Spider and others involved in the plot will remember her should she ever encounter them in the future.

True Ally of the Lantern Lodge: Amara Li recognized Nylthe's invaluable contribution in ensuring a strong alliance with the Way of the Kirin, and she promised to assist her in the future. Whenever Nylthe spends 1 PP to gain a +4 bonus on a skill check in Tian Xia, she gets a +5 instead, or +6 if she is in Goka.

Gift of the Ghaele: Sulianna the Luminescent, an azata whom Nylthe rescued, owes her a debt and has granted her a fraction of her power. Nylthe may one cast Aid, Detect Thoughts, Lesser Restoration, See Invisibility, Continual Flame, Dispel Magic, Lesser Globe of Invulnerability or Restoration as an SLA.
