Husarq |

Husarq looks at the woman, who seems to have her wits about her.
"Human, what is going on here?" he says. "You should escape now, while you have the chance."

Husarq |

Husarq looks at the two who are skeptical and gestures to Mareq.
"Bag of prime flesh," he says with a barely restrained disdain. "Speak to these two, that I may depart immediately and find Colson Madris. His death will be on these two if we aren't quick. And I will be VERY upset."

![]() |

"Ahem, well, what uh, the Mighty Husarq al-Shamir means, is we are pathfinders tasked with assisting you and Colson Madris in this predicament," says Mareq timidly, yet diplomatically.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20

It took me three tries today just to get to this page. Gonna try to post real quick while the site is up!
-The Security System
They don't know. Literally, they haven't the requisite knowledge. All they know is that it's creepy and undead.
-The various prisoners
Between you, you have the requisite skills to cajole, encourage, and outright force them to move. Since the site has been so unstable, I'm hand-waving those checks. However, you should feel free to make RP posts with regards to these NPCs.
-What happens next?
As you try to exit with the Andoren prisoners, the sense of "wrong" that pervades the area becomes a near-overwhelming sense of wrong and ANGRY!
Combat soon.

![]() |

Berosius chirps up. "We're here to free you and bring you back to Andoran. Sure, it's the sort of mean trick the Gray Gardeners would play, but we're very serious. This corrupt society is about to be overrun by more revolution and we plan to get you safely out of here first!"
When the sense of wrongness comes over them, Berosius steps near to the prisoners and holds his holy symbol, the rose of Milani.

![]() |

I'm going to give this to you because the party's knowledges are high enough.
One creature shifts into existence before you. Thorny vines with tiny red flowers grow from this emaciated woman and flow like a train behind her. This is a Pakalchi Sahkil.
Between the party and the pakalchi, two creatures rise up through the floor. These translucent, ghostly figures fade into view--their faces are distorted by wrath into hideous masks. These two creatures are Spectres.
Posting a little slow to see if the site is stable and to give everyone a chance to check in. :-)

Husarq |

"Oh, good. Something to destroy!" says Husarq.
Waiting to see what our Life Oracle does. Clearly, he's our first line against the spectres.

![]() |

Harrow shivers as the spectres rise up from the floor.
"Nothing Harrow hate like ghosties...ghosties give Harrow creeps," he says with little of his normal bravado.

![]() |

As the three creatures stand before the party, blocking their exit, one sinks back into the ground. (4-player adjustment!)
Spectre: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Berosius: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Harrow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Kelson: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Mareq: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Spectre: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Berosius: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Pakalchi: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Harrow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Mareq: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
(Map has been updated. Feel free to move yourselves a square or two, I chose that starting location because I didn't want anyone to be next to the spectre while flat-footed. The prisoners are in the hallways behind you--to the right on the map.)
This is round 1.
Kelson is up first!

![]() |

This is still round 1.
Kelson buffs his party and encourages them to take down the enemy quickly. Everyone can feel the power of Kelson's words invigorate them like a super-concentrated cup of coffee.
The spectre steps forward and touches someone:
Who?: 1d6 ⇒ 2
It stretches forth a hand while its mouth opens in a horrifying scream of rage and hate.
Melee Touch Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27, Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
Husarq suffers two negative levels and 7 HP of damage.
Berosius is up!

![]() |

Since Berosius is on vacation, I'll bot.
The brave , true halfling casts a spell and steps forward to defend the party from the undead.
"Begone undead horror! You'll not harm my friends any more!"
Melee Touch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15, Damage: 4d8 + 8 ⇒ (2, 1, 7, 2) + 8 = 20
Spectre Will Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
The incorporeal undead reflexively recoils from the Oracle's touch as bits of its body burn away.

Husarq |

Husarq suffers two negative levels and 7 HP of damage.
"WHAAAAT!!!! How DARE you!" screams Husarq as he feels the spectre attempt to suck power from his body.

![]() |

Harrow charges at the spellcaster, risking an attack from the spectre, which he would rather not face.
He attacks twice with the benefit of haste.
+1 cruel keen nodachi (adamantine, power attack, furious focus, studied target, haste, charge): 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 13 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 301d10 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 15 + 2 = 26
if hits, free intimidate check to demoralize: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (20) + 29 = 49
Extra haste atk: 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 13 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 241d10 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 15 + 2 = 21
if hits, free intimidate check to demoralize: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (8) + 29 = 37 Hmmm...suddenly wondering if I really do get an extra attack if I charge?

![]() |

Hmmm...suddenly wondering if I really do get an extra attack if I charge?
Only once:
Attacking on a Charge: After moving, you may make a single melee attack. You get a +2 bonus on the attack roll and take a –2 penalty to your AC until the start of your next turn.
As Harrow rushes by, the spectre lashes out!
Melee Touch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30 (Oh, no!)
Confirm?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 (Sorry, Harrow)
Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5
Harrow loses 5 HP and four negative levels!
Fortunately, his attack on the pakalchi strikes true. Sadly, some of the damage is resisted. DR 10/good Also, it seems unaffected by Harrow's brown note. Immune to fear Finally, Harrow needs to make a reflex save to avoid being entangled in the strange creature's vines.
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Ummm... Before I reveal the results of that reflex save, do you wish to use a re-roll?

Husarq |

"Take me to him, thrall," intones the wily Husarq, ignoring the spectre, despite it having affronted the noble efreeti by laying hands upon him.
Mareq puts his hands upon Husarq's shoulders and intones ancient words of power. As Mareq finishes, both he and Husarq vanish!
The two reappear instantaneously behind the pakalchi! Dimension Door
Husarq steps forward and swings his mighty scimitar as soon as he appears behind the outsider.
Power Attack with flank: 1d20 + 14 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 14 - 2 + 2 = 31 Slashing dmg: 2d6 + 17 ⇒ (4, 4) + 17 = 25 Fire dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Bleed: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Siphon Might (Fort DC18 for half) in his Spell Storing scimitar: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Caster Check to beat SR: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

![]() |

Bah...I was thinking it could be worth risking an attack to disrupt that spell. Total fail... I will use that reroll, though.
reflex reroll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Husarq |

Bah...I was thinking it could be worth risking an attack to disrupt that spell. Total fail...
Maybe not. The pakalchi goes after Harrow and Mareq, so I think his concentration check due to damage taken includes all damage taken during the 1 round of casting. In other words, maybe Husarq's damage plus Harrow's (plus any done by Berosius and Kelson) will cause the Concentration DC to exceed his roll of 34.

Husarq |

Good point...let's hope disrupting it was worth four negative levels...
LOL. I know, right?

![]() |

Harrow avoids becoming entangled.
Husarq smacks the extra-planar creature around hard! The spectre looks hungrily at Kelson and Berosius.
Concentration: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Fort: 1d20 ⇒ 17
The creature loses his spell but resists Siphon Might.
____________________________________________________________
This is now round 2
Kelson: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Spectre: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Berosius: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Pakalchi: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Harrow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Mareq: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Kelson is up!

![]() |

Mareq watches the aether as the outsider's strength wisps away. He quickly, but not quickly enough, redirects the ethereal power towards Husarq. Some of sapped power is lost.
Redirects half of the strength sapped (i.e. 3pts) to Husarq.

Husarq |

Husarq feels the power of his thews swell and swell and then... stop.
"Thrall! Pay attention. Your lack of focus has cost me power," says Husarq to his half-breed son. "After this renegade soul trafficker is dispatched, I will teach you to focus." His tone makes it clear, this "teaching" will not be pleasant.

Husarq |

Redirects half of the strength sapped (i.e. 3pts) to Husarq.
Mechanically, the pakalchi, having saved, only loses 3 pts of strength. The above post is just flavor text, allowing Husarq to angrily blame Mareq.

![]() |

Kelson shouts and casts sonic scream at the undead.
"Dammed creature!"
DC 16 relfex
damage: 4d4 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 4) = 11

![]() |

This is still round 2.
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12, Fail!
The undead creature, too singleminded in its motivation, desn't move out of the way of Kelson's magically enhanced yell.
__________________________________________________
Berosius, Harrow, and Kelson are all equidistant from the spectre. So we'll roll randomly to see who it targets.
Who?: 1d3 ⇒ 1
The spectre takes a 5-ft-step towards the halfling and strikes:
Melee Touch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18, Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2
The brave follower of Milani suffers 2 HP of damage and 2 negative levels.

Berosius is up!

![]() |

Berosius has a Life Link up with both Harrow and Husarq. I don't think Husarq has been injured, but be sure to let me know if I'm wrong. Harrow gains 5 hp and Berosius loses them.
Berosius grits his teeth, showing the fearlessness for which his people are known. He stands toe-to-misty appendage with the specter. "Go, spirit!" he cries. "I release you from torment! Go back to your grave!"
Concentration Check (DC 23)(with 2 negative levels): 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 13 - 2 = 25
Touch Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 9 - 2 = 13 Miss. Have I rerolled already?
Edit: Nope! So I'll do it now!
Touch Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 9 - 2 = 25 Taa-daa!
Maximized Cure Serious Wounds (Will save DC 18): 32 = 32
ACTIVE CONDITIONS
Life Link w/ Harrow and Husarq
2 negative levels

Husarq |

Berosius has a Life Link up with both Harrow and Husarq. I don't think Husarq has been injured, but be sure to let me know if I'm wrong. Harrow gains 5 hp and Berosius loses them.
Husarq has lost 7hp.

![]() |

Taa-daa!
ROFL!
Spectre Will Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17, (Woo hoo! That was close.)
The spectre, completely taken aback by Berosius' unflinching nature, takes 32 HP of positive energy damage!
__________
This is still round 2
Kelson: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Spectre: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Berosius: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Pakalchi: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Harrow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Mareq: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
The pakalchi is up.
__________
Move Action: The pakalchi disappears.
With your previous knowledge roll, you know that pakalchis don't give up. Further, you know that they have a supernatural ability to "skip between"--essentially shifting into the ethereal as a move action.
This creature is probably moving tactically.
__________
Harrow is up!

![]() |

"Don't give up, best friend!" Harrow says as he runs to help Berosius.
+1 cruel keen nodachi (adamantine)(studied target, flanking, precise strike, sneak attack): 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 181d10 + 10 + 2 + 3d6 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 2 + (5, 6, 6) = 30
+1 cruel keen nodachi (adamantine, power attack, furious focus, studied target, flanking, precise strike, sneak attack, cornugon smash): 1d20 + 13 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 13 + 2 + 2 = 241d10 + 15 + 2 + 3d6 ⇒ (10) + 15 + 2 + (3, 1, 6) = 37

Husarq |

"It will appear soon, thrall. Be ready to take me to it," says Husarq, reaching his hand out towards Mareq.
Mareq concentrates on the words of power, ready to teleport his Master.
Mareq readies Dimension Door. As soon as the pakalchi reappears, wherever, Mareq will cast, teleporting himself and Husarq. Destination TBD.
Husarq readies a melee attack for when he reappears from the Dimension Door.

![]() |

Harrow and Husarq each gain up to 5 hp.
Note: Because of the negative levels, Berosius's channeling is less effective.
Berosius holds up the rose symbol of the Everbloom. "Lady Chainbreaker, aid us!"
Channel Positive Energy (selective) with Beacon of Hope: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2) = 14 Nice!
With Fey Foundling, that gives Berosius 17 points back and everyone else 14 back. Moreover, everyone healed by that gains Beacon of Hope.
BEACON OF HOPE: +2 morale bonus to attacks, saves, skills, ability checks for those healed by your channel. 5 rounds.

![]() |

Mareq, a faraway look in his eyes, obediently follows his masters bidding. Husarq crouches and readies to strike, looking more like an otherworldly predator than an explorer.
Taking a cue from their readied actions, Kelson also prepares to damage the enemy with magic.
The pakalchi appears next to Harro and Berosius!
Husarq strikes! 1d20 ⇒ 12
Kelson strikes!
Just for fun: Zaxxle swoops in a strikes!
And the enemy falls.
Did I say this was going to be a tough fight? I meant, you got this. No problem! :)
Combat over.
Feel free to take a moment or two to do some healing. But, you have to get out of here. You still need to get the Andorens to safety and find Colson Maldris. All before reinforcements show up.

Husarq |

"Halfling, can you restore my power to me?" asks Husarq of Berosius, gritting his teeth internally at having to ask somebody else for help.
He turns and stares at Mareq, as if blaming him for being unable to cast the necessary restorative spell.
Quick, party-cast Restorations seem the only way were gonna take care of this before next combat. Is this even possible at this point?

![]() |

I think we should see what Berosius can do before we continue on...hopefully at least a band-aid! :)

![]() |

Everybody's favorite walking band-aid can do a lot to help. How many of us are down levels? How many are just plain hurt? Any other unfortunate conditions?

Husarq |

Berosius’ healing took care of Husarq, but he’s down 2 levels. Harrow is down 4.
