After Snow Adder prepares himself for battle Grimdoc opens the door to reveal:
Fresh blood splatters the white tile of this operating laboratory, which is lit by mirrored lamps hung from chains suspended in the shadows of the distant ceiling. A sturdy wooden table near the center
of the room holds the lightning-charred corpse of a bald human man with a broom-bottom beard. Smaller tables and bookcases nearby hold the gore-spattered spoils of a recent battle.
Of more immediate concern are the room's living inhabitants: Man, who fits the description you for Togarin and his pet, a skinles s dire tiger.
The apprentice greets you warmly (despite his dubious surroundings). He welcomes you in Azlanti, saying,
Togarin explains that one of his fellow apprentices, a brilliant
schemer named Vuzhon, escaped Nhur Athemon's time lock by riding Rozimus's body to safety."
"Vuzhon is clever," Togarin says, "but I know more about souls and immortality than she does. So long as her true body remains affected by the time lock and her mind is in normal time, the magic jar allowing her into Rozimus's form will never expire. But should the time lock fail, her body will age thousands of years in a moment, and will no longer be a suitable receptacle for her soul. I will not let that happen to me. The only real way out for any of us is to destroy the time lock, and the best way to do that is to create a paradox."

Logain does and will translate for the group. More from me later

Samuel looks just as confused by the translation as he does by the original Azlanti speech.
"Paradox? What's he talking about?"

Calistan tries to read everyone's lips, but the conflicting words makes it tough. He shrugs and lets the mouth-speakers handle it.

![]() |

"So Togarin, you are saying that Rozimus is no more and that Vuzhon took over his body hmm? It sounds like something you young wizards would try. Do you have any good theory behind why a paradox would work for you? And would you be willing to share information about this place once free...?" Logain replies in a the same language as the man is speaking.

Logain ponders for a moment but agrees in the end. "Very well, we will create a time paradox. Do we have to kill your ex-colleague to do it then? I figure you two would like to get rid of the other one, but that is not really our concern, unless you have something to offer us for it."

![]() |

"Ah yes, any Ioun stones around? We might need them to set off the paradox as well as move around this place easier."

![]() |

"The way to set of a time paradox is to kill Rozimus before Vuzhoon can posses him, but killing my other ex-colleague might work as well if you plan to try that"
"The time array is made out of ion-stones, but it's almost impervious to damage. The best way is to disrupt the magical protecting it by causing a feed-back loop by creating a paradox."
(The time array is the magical item that is causing you to be locked in here, destroying most likely will remove the need for you to have ion stones to be able to get out - and as he mentioned, is made out of ion stones. It's located in the room behind where you met the other apprentice.)

Calistan frowns at this.
Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 7
He thinks it over before deciding that he will follow the group's plan.

![]() |

Snow Adder is clearly out of his league with trying to follow this guy's language.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Making him undoubtedly another great recruit for the Dark Archive :)

![]() |

Can we sense motive if we do not understand him?
Grimdoc tries to understand to see if the man says anything about Ioun Stones.
SM: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
The dwarf nods his head at Marcel.
I am with you on that, Marcel.
Logain, if he said he ain't got any Ioun Stones...well, whatever he said, I think he is being dishonest."

![]() |

sense motive Logain: 1d20 ⇒ 9
sense motive Navi: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Though seemingly at ease at first, Navi flies close to his ear and communicates something no one can understand. Logain frowns for a moment but nods.
Again in Azlanti Logain speaks "Hmm very well... we'll see to this time paradox. First I want to see the device for myself, perhaps I can figure something out from it. Anything you could tell us about your colleagues that could aid us, should we proceed to remove them?"
In common speak repeats what he said and suggests to go to the device before resorting to more aggressive options.

Since this is taking quite some time already, if you have any questions just ask them and I'll try answer them. And you guys can decide what to do; leave or attack him or something else if you want. He's basically asking you to go find and kill someone who's innocent (at least at this point) just to prevent something from happening (which you may or not be able to stop in a different way) he's not radiating evil, but he's not asking you to do something which is considered "nice"
He's not coming with you btw, he can't leave his "research"

Samuel is not in favor of killing the third party, especially given how there is another potential solution.

![]() |

Calistan shakes his head. He won't participate in the killing of a third party for no reason other than to free this man. He would rather give Grimdoc some money to go buy cheap ioun stones for the party to leave.

![]() |

"Enough of this. Tell him that we will not kill another innocent party just to placate his wishes. The Eagle Knights do not stand for those who oppress others, even within an ancient dungeon. We have delayed here long enough. Either he tells us another way to escape this mist or allows us to continue our exploration north."
Samuel begins to advance towards the northern exit, raising his shield, should the tiger try anything.

![]() |

"You do not tell me what to do! I tell you what to do! And right now that is DIE!"
The man snaps his fingers and the tiger starts to intercept the moving Samuel
